BusinessSee How Much World Bank Has Invested In Nigeria by olajay86(op): 7:28am On Oct 16, 2017
http://www.titopeblog.com/2017/10/world-bank-reveals-how-much-it-has.html

The World Bank Group has said it has an investment portfolio of about $8.5billion scattered across states in Nigeria.

This was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by Olufunke Olufon, a Senior Communications Officer at World Bank Nigeria.

Olufon stated that the investments were to assist the 36 states of the federation and the federal capital territory (FCT), to reduce poverty and foster prosperity.

According to her, the clarification was important, because of concerns raised by Nigerians over the comment by World Bank president, Jim Yong Kim that President Muhammadu Buhari told them to concentrate on the Northern part of the country.

“In 2015, the government of Nigeria requested World Bank support to respond to the humanitarian and development crisis in the north-east of Nigeria,” the statement read.

“To assess the needs of the nearly 15 million people in the region impacted by the crisis, the World Bank Group, the UN and the European Union carried out a Recovery and Peace Building Assessment (RPBA).

“And based on the findings of the assessment, World Bank’s 775 million dollars support to the north-east focuses on restoring basic education, health services, agricultural production, and livelihood improvement opportunities.”

http://www.titopeblog.com/2017/10/magu-reveals-where-corrupt-nigerians.html

Ibrahim Magu, the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC, has revealed where corrupt Nigerians invest the proceeds of their loots.

The EFCC Czar disclosed that these corrupt Nigerians use the proceeds of their loots to purchase real estates in Dubai and the United Kingdom, UK.

Magu made the disclosure during the NIESV workshop and was contained in a tweet on the agency’s Twitter handle, on Friday.

The tweet reads, “Corrupt individuals are using proceeds of corruption to acquire real estate in Dubai, UK.” – Ibrahim Magu at NIESV workshop.”

Magu’s claim is coming at a time when Magu claimed that more than N30 billion looted funds have been recovered since the commencement of the whistleblowing policy.

The EFCC Chairman stated this yesterday at the launch of the whistle-blower support project tagged, ‘Corruption Anonymous’ (CORA)

PoliticsRemove Barriers To Wearing Of Hijab In Lagos Schools – MSSN Tells Ambode by olajay86(op): 5:05pm On Oct 13, 2017
http://www.titopeblog.com/2017/10/remove-barriers-to-wearing-of-hijab-in.html

The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Lagos State Area Unit, has urged Governor Akinwumi Ambode of the state to explore all avenues in ensuring wearing of Hijab by female Muslim children without restrain or conditions in the state.

MSSN Amir (President), Dr. Saheed Ashafa in a press statement made available to DAILY POST on Friday, said it was imperative for government to respect the status and rights of every girl-child irrespective of their religious or ethnic affiliation.

He said, “We call on the government, stakeholders, all well meaning and sensible individuals to respect the status of every girl child irrespective of their religious or ethnic background.”

“Since the theme for this year – Empower girls: Before, during and after conflict – acknowledges the power of the adolescent girl, we appreciate the nobility of every girl child with unequal admiration.

“We uphold the elevated status of womanhood as raised by the religion of Islam,” the statement read in part.

Ashafa warned against all kinds of discrimination against the school girls in hijab just as he urged “overzealous individuals to desist from such act with immediate alacrity before the full weight of the law is deployed on them.

“It has been observed that in recent times, some overzealous individuals have relegated the nigerian system of justice by harrassing, molesting and oppressing female students in their constitutionally granted hijab.

He however, vowed that MSSN was ever ready to take legal means to address individual case as they come henceforth.

Ashafa said, “We are surprised to see acclaimed educated individuals acting in such a barbaric, nefarious and uncivilised manner against the extant court ruling which has re-echoed the positon of the nigerian constitution on hijab.

“We are aware that Lagos State government has not ordered anyone to tamper with the religious rights of any school child, hence individual case will be treated in the name of the culprit forthwith,” he added.

HealthBREAKING: Benue Doctors Begin Indefinite Strike by olajay86(op): 4:19pm On Oct 12, 2017
http://www.titopeblog.com/2017/10/breaking-benue-doctors-begin-indefinite.html

The Doctors in Benue State, on Thursday, embarked on an indefinite strike over what they described as inability of the government and the management of the Federal Medical Center (FMC) Makurdi, to meet their demands.

The NMA’s total strike was coming on the heels of the suspension, last Wednesday, of the indefinite strike earlier embarked upon by the Organised Labour in the state.

The doctors’ indefinite strike was declared following the expiration of the 7-day warning strike embarked upon by the state chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA).

In a statement signed by both the state NMA Chairman and Secretary, Dr. Obekpa Obekpa and Dr. Nwaeze Chukwuemeka, respectively, the congress expressed gross dissatisfaction and the subversive roles of some of its members in the course of the warning strike.

The statement referred the affected members including the Medical Director of FMC, Dr. Peteru Inunduh, Commissioner of Health and human Services, Dr. Cecilia Ojabo, Chief Medical Director of Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH), Prof. Terlumun Swende to the association’s disciplinary committee for necessary action.

Others also recommended for sanctions were the Deputy Head of Clinical Services, FMC, Makurdi, Dr. Ocheifa Matthew and the Chairman, Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN), FMC Makurdi chapter, Dr. Nombur Isaac.

CrimeBillionaire Kidnapper: Judge ‘washes’ Hands Off Evans’ Case by olajay86(op): 7:36am On Oct 12, 2017
http://www.titopeblog.com/2017/10/billionaire-kidnapper-judge-washes.html

Justice Abdulazeez Anka of the Federal High Court, Lagos has hands-off a fundamental rights case filed by suspected kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, also known as Evans.

According to Justice Anka, the case file would be returned to the Administrative Judge for further directive.

The judge had earlier heard the case during the court’s long vacation and had adjourned until Aug. 29 for judgment after parties argued it and adopted their addresses on Aug.16.

But the police through its counsel David Igbodo said another lawyer, Henry Obiazi, who represented the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and the Nigeria Police when the case was heard did so without authorisation.

The police prayed the court to set aside all the purported arguments made by Obiazi and to set aside the ruling it delivered on Aug. 16 in which he adjourned for judgment.

When the case came up before another judge, Justice Chuka Obiozor during the long vacation, he held that the case was no longer urgent.

Obiozor then returned the file to the Chief Judge, Justice Adamu Kafarati for re-assignment to another judge.

The case was subsequently re-assigned to Justice Babs Kuewemi.

However, Evans’ lawyer, Olukoya Ogungbeje wrote the Chief Judge informing him that Anka had already adjourned the case for judgment.

Based on the letter, the case was again returned to Anka.

When the case came up before Anka on Wednesday, he expressed displeasure that the case was returned to him when the issue of judgment had been overtaken by events.

The judge said that since the police had filed other applications, the earlier adjournment for judgment had become void.

Anka added that even if he had written the judgment earlier, it meant that a new one would be written.

In his fundamental rights suit, Evans is claiming N300 million against the police as damages for alleged illegal detention and rights violation.

PoliticsHow Restructuring Will Be Achieved – El-rufai by olajay86(op): 7:30am On Oct 12, 2017
http://www.titopeblog.com/2017/10/how-restructuring-will-be-achieved-el.html

Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has urged all key stakeholders to reach a compromise, on how the future of the country should look like.

El-Rufai stated this on Wednesday in Abuja, while welcoming the participants to the civil society organization and youths’ public hearing, organized by the All Progressives Congress (APC) Committee on True Federalism.

The Governor said since all the stakeholders had agreed that something was wrong with Nigeria’s political structure, an honest conversation was needed to lay a solid foundation for the younger generation.

“Let’s use this opportunity to air out our views, to disagree definitely and openly, but finally come to some compromise on what our country should look like in the future for it to work for everyone. This is why we are here; we are messengers. We collect and collate your views and hand them over to the party and the government for action.

“This is the first time in the history of Nigeria, and I’m slightly older than Nigeria itself, that there is an honest conversation about the structure of our federation. And this is the only time that we provide an equal opportunity platform for every Nigerian to contribute his views about what the future Nigeria should look like,” he said.

PoliticsFayose Lists Reasons Why Buhari Is Nigeria’s Worst President Ever by olajay86(op): 6:25pm On Oct 11, 2017
http://www.titopeblog.com/2017/10/fayose-lists-reasons-why-buhari-is.html

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has asserted that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government is the most corrupt in the history of Nigeria.

Fayose made the allegation while accusing the President of “treating corruption involving his men as family affair.”

In a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, the Governor wondered why the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, finds it difficult to go after those close to the President but are always quick to prosecute Nigerians opposing Buhari.

According to Fayose, “When miscreants write petitions to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) against perceived opponents of President Buhari, EFCC will act immediately, but when known Nigerians, including members of Buhari’s government raise allegation of corruption against close allies of the President, the EFCC will look the other way.

“As posited by APC Senator, Shehu Sani, we are in a situation where perfume is being sprayed on corruption when it affects Buhari’s men while insecticide is being sprayed on corruption when it involves perceived political opponents of the President.

“When allegation of corruption is made against Buhari’s men, EFCC acts like pet dog, but when it is against those whose faces the President does not like, the anti-graft agency acts like lion.

“No nation can achieve greatness with such a partial leadership.

“While Nigerians are still asking questions as to what has happened to the report of the committee that investigated the $43 million discovered in an apartment at Osbourne Towers, Ikoyi, Lagos, allegation of $25 billion was made by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu, and as usual, the allegation like others before it, is being treated as family affairs.

“Before now, the Acting Chairman of EFCC, Ibrahim Magu was indicted of corruption by the Department of State Service (DSS) and all that was done by President Buhari was to ask the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), to investigate the DSS report. Up till today, nothing has been heard about it and Magu, despite his rejection by the Senate, is still acting as the EFCC chairman.

“Up till today, Nigerians are yet to be told the owner of the Legico Shopping Plaza, Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island, Lagos inside which the EFCC claimed that it found N448.8 million cash.

“Despite the presence of CCTV cameras, we have not been told the identities of those who brought the five sacks in which the EFCC claimed that it found N49 million cash to the Kaduna Airport.

“As far as I am concerned, President Buhari is not fighting any corruption. He is fighting his political foes and God is not a God of double-standard. This Buhari’s government is a government of double-standard.”

http://www.titopeblog.com/2017/10/oyo-govt-condemns-illegal-tax.html l

The Oyo State Government has cautioned people of the state not to accept Local Government Poll Tax Receipts (LGPTR) in place of Tax Clearance Certificates (TCC).

It described the LGPTR receipt as illegal.

The state government, however, vowed to deal with any state or local government official that is caught defrauding the unsuspecting public in the name of collecting tax payment as a prerequisite for registration of new students and subsequently issued receipt not up to the amount collected.

Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Adeniyi Olowofela who issued this warning disclosed that the government had received so many complaints on the activities of some individuals who are issuing illegal receipts in place of the presumptive taxes for new intakes introduced by the state government prior to the beginning of 2017 academic session.

Olowofela explained that the state government through the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in collaboration with the Board of Internal Revenue agreed that the introduced informal sector tax of N3000 should be a pre-requisite for registration of new students into secondary schools (private and public).

He noted that the payment of the presumptive taxes are applicable to new intakes alone, stressing that returning students are only expected to present the TTC of their parents.

He stated that the government had a subsisting agreement with members of the informal sector on the payment of three thousand naira annual tax for which they are expected to have evidence of payment, adding that members of the formal sector are expected to have the evidence of the payment of their taxes.

Olowofela stated that principals have been warned not to collect fees from incoming students other than the approved levies of One thousand, two hundred and twenty naira only (N1,220.00) for new students in Junior Secondary Schools and One thousand and forty naira only (N1,040) for stale students on the same level, while that of the Senior secondary schools stands at One Thousand, three hundred and twenty naira only (N1,320.00) for new intakes and One thousand, one hundred and forty naira (N1,140) for the returning students, stressing that the fees are meant for a whole session (3 terms).

He said, “JSS students are expected to pay Parents Teachers Association Levy of N180 (N60 per term-N30 out of it will be remitted to NAPTAN), Report Cards is N150 per session, Instructional Materials is N60 (N20 per term) Sports is N100 per session, Examination for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd is N450, PTA code of Conduct is N100 for JSS 1 Students and transferred Students, Documentation N80 for new intakes and transferred students and ICT (MOES&T Intervention) is N100 and the sum is N1,220.00 while the returning students will pay N1040.00.

“Senior Secondary School students are expected to pay Parents Teachers Association Levy of N180 (N60 per term – N30 out of it to be remitted to NAPTAN), Report Cards is N150 per session, Instructional Materials is N60 (N20 per term) Sports is N100 per session, Examination for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd is N550, PTA code of Conduct is N100 for SSS 1 Students and transferred Students, Documentation N80 for new intakes and transferred students and ICT (MOES&T Intervention) is N100 and the sum is N1,320.00 while the returning students will pay N1140.00.”

Olowofela said that it is wrong for some individuals to say the government is taxing the students, warning that illegal collection of any fee shall not be tolerated by the government as erring official(s) will be sanctioned.

PoliticsBuhari Fixing Wrong People In Strategic Positions – Dino Melaye by olajay86(op): 7:23am On Oct 11, 2017
http://www.titopeblog.com/2017/10/buhari-fixing-wrong-people-in-strategic.html

Senator Dino Melaye has noted that there are so many square pegs in round holes in the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

Melaye said Buhari’s selections were synonymous to someone wearing oversized shoes, adding that there were lots of nepotism in the President’s appointments.

In an interview with Vanguard, Melaye, a chieftain of the ruling party, said, “Let me tell you, in this government, we have square pegs in round holes.

“You cannot give carpentry work to a tailor and you expect him to perform. We need to rejig the economy managers of this nation because you cannot give what you don’t have.

“Cabinet reshuffle has to do with the ministers. We have strategic positions in this country that is manned by wrong people; a coach is as good as members of his team.

“The President cannot be minister of petroleum, Minister of Internal Affairs but if he has good aides, the economy will move because these people will be working within their terrain.

“If a tailoring work is given to a carpenter, the output will be a beautiful nonsense.

“The president must rejig his appointments. The president should forget about politics and bring out people with vigour, better hands that will get the job done. Such people should be involved in the process irrespective of the party they belong or their tribes.

“The SGF misbehaved because he has never worked in any public service in his life before becoming the SGF.

“The SGF of a country is the manager of the entire process of Governance. A man that is not imbibed and indoctrinated in the act of civil administration or the rudiments of public administration, definitely he will misbehave.

“His appointment is synonymous to someone wearing an oversized shoe and this is applicable to other appointments in this government, there are a lot of nepotism in appointment in this government.

“Like I told you earlier, it’s not all about party. Even the president is not an APC president but the president of the federal republic of Nigeria including the witches and wizards of this country. He is the president of everybody. Development process is national and no one should be partisan about it.

“If you find a good man in PDP or APGA that can do the job perfectly, appoint him or her in the interest of National development than to bring an APC man that has no idea of what to do.

“Today in this country there is an organization headed in this country by a lawyer, what do we expect from such appointment? We have ministers that have no cognate experience at all on where to serve.”

While two of the deceased – Oguntola Wasiu-Babatunde and Danjuma Jamil-Salihu – drowned in a swimming pool, their female counterpart, Memuna Ahmad-Yarwa, died from complications during a child birth.

It was gathered that Wasiu-Babatunde with code number, NS16B4044 hailed from Ogun State, while Jamil-Salihu with code number NS16B 0175 was a native of Kwara State.

Their bodies were found floating on the bank of Assakio River area on Sunday.

“No ransom was paid before her release, but she was beaten by the kidnappers. At the time the victim was kidnapped, she was in her menstruation period and the assault made her to bleed more.”

EducationThe Multimillion Naira Damage/carnage At The Federal Polytechnic Ado – Ekiti by olajay86(op): 7:26am On Oct 10, 2017
http://www.titopeblog.com/2017/10/the-multimillion-naira-damagecarnage-at.html

The most painful goodbye are the ones that are never said and never explained. This was the case of Vincent Taiwo Oluwafemi, who was until his death, the Marshal Commander of the Polytechnic Road Safety Corps and an HND II Student of the Estate Management Department at the Federal Polytechnic, Ado – Ekiti.

He died on Saturday, 7th October, 2017 due probably to careless negligence by close relatives who had him forcibly discharged against medical advice given by experts at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital.

Contrary to reports which went viral on the social media and a section of the press that two students died from malaria attack, the truth of the matter was that nothing of such happened one student of the Institution was reported dead. This was attributed as the cause of the violent demonstration by students, in the process of which various acts of criminal arson and willful destruction of public property were committed which preliminary report put at about half a billion Naira.

However, the truth of the matter was that a student of the Institution was reported dead after he had been forcibly discharged against medical advice at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado – Ekiti where he was referred to a day before the incident. The deceased student had reported ill at the NHIS-accredited Polytechnic’s Health Centre on Friday 6th October, 2017 and got stabilized after which he was referred to EKSUTH for further treatment.

Report from the Teaching Hospital indicated that on the morning of Saturday 7th October, 2017, the patient was forcibly discharged against medical advice without the knowledge of the Polytechnic’s Medical Team about the patient’s whereabouts until report of the guy’s death was broken on campus thus heralding the violent protest.

Thereafter the students went wild with all sorts of lies and burnt down the well-equipped NHIS Accredited Health Centre of the Institution’s, the Security Gate House, Signpost, the Institution’s Bakery as well as the Entrepreneurship and Demonstration Farms, including Poultry, Fishponds etc belonging to the Entrepreneurship Centre and the Departments of Agricultural Technology and Agricultural and Bio-Environmental Engineering and so on.

A staff of the Polytechnic, Mr. Olaiya Adeniyi, who witnessed the drama leading to the patient’s being discharged against Medical advice at EKSUTH where he had taken his ailing father made the following lamentation on a whatsApp platform.

“If truly the student that died was the one that was forcibly discharged from EKSUTH, then there was no reason whatsoever for such reaction from our students. The said student was in the same ward with my father; we actually met him in the ward with a lady (a student I guess) and two male students. I didn't recognise them but the two male students recognised me, came to greet me and introduced themselves.

The boy (victim), was visibly in pains and the lady who was with him was so bitter, angry and upset with the doctors and nurses on call because, according to her 'the medical personnel did not attend to the patient well enough'. The lady was complaining bitterly and so confrontational with both doctors and nurses that security officers were asked to take her out of the ward. An older man, who I guess would be the brother of the deceased and the agitated lady asked for and both signed the undertaking that they were removing the victim contrary to medical advice of doctors.

However, it is noteworthy that one particular doctor was repeatedly warning the lady, the older man and the two male students that discharging the patient was a suicide mission but they refused to yield to his warnings. I equally appealed to the lady who was more vocal and determined to get the patient discharged to allow the boy continued with his treatment as he was on drip, being treated and observed according to the doctor. Unfortunately, they signed the document and took him away. The scene was so painful as he was losing blood coming out of his hand from where the drip was prematurely removed.

I learnt yesterday that students were on rampage occasioned by the death of student(s) and I was even sent the picture of the burnt health centre but didn't know the identity of the victim. It was this morning when the doctors and nurses were discussing the issue that they told us it was the student that was discharged against medical advice that died and led to the trouble in our school.

I however, want to state again that, IF truly the case of this particular student as witnessed by me was the reason behind this reaction of our students, then they were misinformed, misled and it is quite unfortunate!

The ultimate truth is that we are ALL going to die one way or the other, one day, suddenly, prematurely, at old age or whatever. But our actions or inactions will certainly be contributory factors (the percentage or ratio I can't express any precise opinion on) in determining how many days get credited to our sojourn on earth.

Unfortunately, such actions or inactions were taken away from the deceased by his friends and brother”. It was learnt that the deceased student was the Marshal Commander of the Road Safety Corps in the Polytechnic before his death but it was not clear at the time of this report where exactly he gave up the ghost since the Polytechnic is oblivious of his whereabouts after being forcibly taken away from the EKSUTH.

In response to the carnage perpetrated by the students as well as the serious threat to lives and property, the Polytechnic Management promptly shut down the Institution asking all students to vacate the Campus latest by 10:00pm on Saturday, 7th October, 2017.

The Management went further to hold an emergency combined Academic Board and Management Committee Meeting at 12:00noon on Sunday 8th October 2017 for situation review.

At the meeting the Director of Medical Services Dr. Olusiji Makinde confirmed that the Health Centre which has been in existence for over 35 years was not just well stocked with necessary equipment, facilities and personnel but also earned the NHIS Accreditation as a recognised NHIS Health Facility Provider. He added that contrary to negative reports that two students died at the Health Centre, there has never been any record suggesting death of any student in the Institution’s Health Centre for all the years the Polytechnic had existed.

He noted that the deceased neither died at the Health Centre of the Polytechnic nor at EKSUTH but in the hands of those who claimed to love him and regretted painfully that perhaps he might not have died if he was not forcibly discharged against medical advice from EKSUTH where he had been referred a day earlier.

The Chief Security Officer of the Polytechnic Major Amos Faniyan, Director of the Polytechnic Entrepreneurship Centre Engr. A.A. Jimoh and Heads of affected Academic Department whose facilities such as Bakery, Fishery, Poultry, Demonstration Farms etc which were vandalized, looted and damaged all addressed the Academic Board Meeting with details of the plundered and looted items.

Decisions taken at the meeting include resolution to:

Suspend the Student’s Union with immediate effect
Set up a fact-finding panel to unravel the remote and immediate cause(s) of the crisis

Other terms of reference were:

To investigate the immediate and remote causes of the disturbance;
To identify and establish the level of involvement of the dramatis personae, which include perpetrators, collaborators and instigators
To identify the affected areas, structures and establish the extent of the damage done;
To bring up the current cost implications of the damaged building, materials and equipment;
To make recommendations on how to forestall such future occurrence and bring up preventive measures;
Recommend reparation to be charged against students based on the determined cost of the damaged facilities

Unfortunately, the law barring the Police from moving into campuses, prevented initial Police entry until a letter was transmitted to the commissioner of Police. These gave the vandals a field day. The reliance on the use of the Social Media for initial information also did not help matters as the misinformation spread abroad by mischievous people, aggravated the situation.

The Chairman Governing Council has been briefed and update would be given as events unfold.

PoliticsBuhari Will Resolve Kachikwu, Baru Feud – VON DG, Osita Okechukwu by olajay86(op): 3:42pm On Oct 08, 2017
http://www.titopeblog.com/2017/10/buhari-will-resolve-kachikwu-baru-feud.html

The Director General of Voice of Nigeria (VON), Mr. Osita Okechukwu has reassured Nigerians that President
Muhammadu Buhari will resolve the reported feud between the Minister of state for petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu and the Group Managing Director of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Dr. Maikanti Baru.

Fielding questions from journalists in Enugu on Sunday, Okechukwu, who earlier
declined comment on the basis that he was not presidential spokesman, said: “President Buhari will do the needful and will not allow anyone to dent his image or tarnish his integrity quotient, if the allegations are valid. This is his political capital upon
which we followed him, upon which Nigerians voted for him and upon which the international community endorsed him.”

The VON DG equally noted that Buhari’s urgent meeting with Kachikwu had vindicated
some of them who believed abinitio that the Minister’s letter did not get to the President.

“As I said before, I have not seen nor heard from Mr President since the altercation;
I am at Enugu as you know, but permit me to opine from my observatory that the meeting President Buhari had with Kachikwu vindicated some of us who had expressed the candid view that it was possible that those who blocked Kachikwu from seeing Mr President
might had blocked the letter from getting to him.

“Otherwise the urgent verification meeting he had with Kachikwu signposts this
assumption. Aso Villa has unresolved culture of mix-bag,” he said.

Going further, Okechukwu said for the much he knew of President Buhari, he had
always placed public interest above self and cannot allow his political capital of integrity quotient to be extinguished by anyone, even his traducers can attest to his selflessness.

He attributed the unfolding events to “the palace guards, in every palace, who
sometimes in this instance, work 100 degrees at variance with Buhari’s public service trajectory. They wittingly or unwittingly fail to recognize the treasury and premium Buhari places on the Social Contract he has with Nigerians to make a CHANGE.”

Asked whether President Buhari was in charge, Okechukwu retorted, “He is in charge.
How can you spew such propaganda? He is not the talking type. His approach is slow and steady, which wins the race. For a president who in his independent anniversary speech X-rayed how he met an almost empty treasury and huge infrastructure deficit, and took
the pain to travel round the world to source for funds to revamp the infrastructural deficit, it is unfair to profile him in that manner. Don’t fall for His Excellency, Governor Fayose or Peoples Democratic Party’s propaganda.

“If he is not in charge how come he mobilized the Armed Forces to tame and contain
the Boko Haram? How come he is waging with Ibrahim Magu as filed commander, strident war against corruption? How come he raised $30 billion infrastructure loan? I understand he is sourcing more money for Port Harcourt – Maiduguri Eastern Corridor Railway,
Enugu Coal and other vital infrastructure. As I said before, Aso Villa has the tendency to alienate people from the president, especially when some key officials are not as pro-people as Mr President. It happened to Gen Sani Abacha of blessed memory, Chief
Olusegun Obasanjo and Dr Goodluck Jonathan.”

When questioned over the concentration of appointments in the North, okechukwu
said “Buhari has a broader view of Nigeria than most people can imagine. His concentration is on infrastructural development of the country than any other thing.”

Assuring that the President is going to make amends on appointments, Okechukwu
said “a lot of pundits and public critics are not aware that his Zone the North West did not benefit as much as North-East,” pointing out that “the North West has only one member in the 14 member NNPC Board, North East-four and South East none.”

According to him, “North-West did not produce the Chiefs of Army Staff, Chief
of Navy, Chief of Airforce nor NSA, as South-East you hype. Watch out, there is going to be changes.

“Methinks Mr President is a good listener, he had heard the complaints of Nigerians,
not only that of his dear wife – Aisha, Nasir Elrufai, Ibe Kachikwu and a host of compatriots. He is fully aware that in the Chest Board game, there is only one King, every other player is a Pun. He will make amends, appointments are transient and temporary.
Don’t forget that he is a retired Army General. Watch out.”

PoliticsHealth Minister, Isaac Adewole Extends NHIS Secretary’s Suspension Indefinitely by olajay86(op): 8:03am On Oct 06, 2017
Nigeria’s Minister of Health, Isaac Adewole has extended the suspension of Usman Yusuf, executive secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), indefinitely.

In July, the Minister suspended Yusuf for three months over allegations of fraud.

Adewole had set up a committee to probe the NHIS secretary, saying his response to the petitions written against him were “considered unsatisfactory”.

In a recent correspondence, Adewole said the investigative committee found Yusuf culpable in the discharge of his responsibilities.

“Please refer to my earlier letter ref C.405/1/132, dated 6th July 2017, suspending you from office for three months to allow for an interrupted administrative, investigative committee to look into the various allegations against you including that of monumental fraud, gross abuse of office and nepotism inimical to the NHIS scheme under your leadership,” the letter read.

“While awaiting Mr President’s directive and considering that the committee found you culpable in many areas of your performance as the executive secretary of the NHIS, I am further extending your suspension from office pending the decision of his Excellency Mr President C-in-C on the report,”‎ he added.

PoliticsWe Are Tackling Menace Of Porous Borders -osinbajo by olajay86(op): 7:25am On Oct 06, 2017
http://www.titopeblog.com/2017/10/we-are-tackling-menace-of-porous.html

The Vice-president, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has reiterated the Federal Government’s efforts in tackling the menace of porous borders to curtail smuggling of counterfeit products and boost local production.

Osinbajo stated this while playing host to a delegation of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) on Thursday, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

According to a press statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the Vice-president on media and publicity, Mr Laolu Akande, Osinbajo said there was need for stringent laws guiding borders’ activities and transactions.

“Certain sections of the laws should be amended to attract stringent monetary penalties for defaulters, which would serve as deterrent and also to protect the quality of goods in the country.

“More importantly, the whole issue is that we are able to police the borders. Last week, we had discussions with all the agencies connected; including the Customs, the Minister of Internal Affairs, NPA, and we were looking at how we can work with our neighbours, especially the Benin Republic, and our neighbours also in the North, to police our borders as much as we can.

“The Federal Government will also consider the request made by the association for a 35 per cent margin of preference for Made-in-Nigeria products for government procurement.

“I think that, in this particular case, the 35 per cent threshold is entirely reasonable. We should be able to do better than that in terms of driving government procurement.

“The country has a huge market for locally manufactured products, especially in the textile and footwear industries”, Osinbajo said.

He further said that government had ordered some of these products for the military and other uniformed agencies of government.

The Vice President emphasised that the major focus of the Buhari’s administration’s Ease of Doing Business reforms was to increase patronage for locally manufactured goods, as well as to create an enabling environment for the private sector and businesses in the country to thrive.

“The whole point of the Executive Order on promoting “Made-in-Nigeria” products was to set the ball rolling, to create an environment for this sort of initiative, and I am extremely grateful to MAN for the work that it has done in bringing this to the fore.”

The President of MAN, Dr. Frank Udemba Jacobs, in his earlier remarks noted that the association’s advocacy campaign was not only aimed at improving the patronage of locally manufactured products by Nigerians, but to also help create more jobs for Nigerians in the local manufacturing sector by reducing imports.

He later presented the Vice President a report on MAN’s advocacy campaign for patronage of Made-in-Nigeria products.

http://www.titopeblog.com/2017/10/inec-well-deploy-best-card-readers-for.html

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that it would deploy some of the best card readers machines to Anambra State for its governorship election, to ensure the exercise is hitch-free.

The Director, Voter Education and Publicity in the commission, Oluwole Uzzi, who gave the assurance on Thursday at a Voter Education Providers implementation meeting, in Awka, Anambra state, disclosed that about 5,000 card readers machines had already been tested out of over 6,200 anticipated for the election.

He said the electoral umpire had recorded high level of successes in the use of the machines since its introduction in the previous elections, assuring of a continued improvement in subsequent elections to guarantee more efficiency.

“We would utilize the best card readers machines, not just for the Anambra election, but in subsequent elections, all to make sure the exercise is not only free and fair, but credible and acceptable to all.” he assured.

Uzzi said the commission has been exploring all necessary measures in educating and sensitizing eligible voters on the importance of participating in the exercise, calling for support from other stakeholders.

“All of us have the responsibilities, particularly the political parties who have the greater stake in voter turnout. On our own part, we would continue to explore all options to ensure a hitch-free poll,” he added.

He, however, expressed worry over the quantity of voters cards yet to be collected by the electorates, appealing to those concerned to come for the cards in view of its importance in the exercise.

Earlier, the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Nkwachukwu Orji, described voter education as a critical segment of the electoral process, which helps to build confidence in the electorate to participate actively in the election.

Represented by the Administrative Secretary, Charles Mbanaja, Orji challenged all relevant stakeholders to come up with other strategies to ensure a successful election.

EducationEducation Minister, Adamu Laments Poor Conditions Of Nigerian Teachers by olajay86(op): 7:54am On Oct 05, 2017

The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, has decried the poor conditions of teachers across the country

According to him, it was ironical to assume that teachers who were saddled with the responsibility of moulding the character of future generations, equipping them with tools for greatness would live and die in abject poverty.

The Minister, who said this while addressing journalists in Abuja on the activities that would herald the 2017 World Teachers Day, frowned at the teachers’ condition of service, promising to use his good offices to correct the anomalies.

He said: “Unfortunately, we don’t have the capacity to repay teachers of their good works. Without teachers, the world would be wallow in ignorance.

“We all, at one point or another learnt one thing or the other from our teachers. Today’s teachers were also taught by teachers.

“That means that everything depends on teachers either in formal setting, at home or elsewhere.

“As a Minister of Education, I have come face to face with the poor condition that you work. In spite of that, you are still doing your job happily.

“But I strive to make corrections by providing conducive environment to work. I love teachers and I am happy that their fate is in my hand.

“I regret to hear that some of them don’t receive their salaries and entitlements as at when due, but I will do whatever I could within my power to correct that.”

PoliticsKachikwu's Letter: There Is A Cycle Of Power Within Buhari’s Govt. – Shehu Sani by olajay86(op): 7:29am On Oct 05, 2017
http://www.titopeblog.com/2017/10/kachikwu-letter-theres-cycle-of-power.html

Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has said the letter by the Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu to President Muhammadu Buhari is an indication that there is a “circle of power within the President’s government”.

The Minister, in the letter had accused the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Dr . Maikanti Baru of insubordination and humiliation.

Kachikwu had also expressed disappointment at the fact that he had no express access to the president.

But speaking on Channels Television, on Wednesday, Sani said Kachikwu’s letter showed that there was a system disconnect in the government circle.

According to the lawmaker, the letter had shown that there was a government within Buhari’s government.

Sani said, “The content of that letter and the allegations raised also raise a number of issues, not only about the NNPC but about the whole structure of governance that exists today.

“If a minister of state can outright say it’s been difficult for him to access channels through which he can present his issues, I think there is a system disconnect there.

“And it is simply giving credence to the fact there exists a government within the government. There are individuals that have formed a shield, a cycle. And I think the issue that it raised in every possible way, is pointing to the fact that there is a cycle of powers within powers itself.”

Clarifying his statement, the lawmaker said the “government within the government” he referred has nothing to do with the kitchen cabinet.

“This is about some persons who have surrounded the president and are exercising powers to themselves and to their advantage and also manipulating power for their own personal interest,” he added.

However, Sani said the President might not be aware of the issues raised in the letter.

“I am of the firm belief that if he is aware of this, he would have taken action.

“And if he is not aware of this and this has been brought to the public fore, then he can now take action on it. But if he says he will not take an action on this issue, then it will certainly stain the integrity of the administration,” he said.

http://www.titopeblog.com/2017/10/nigerian-government-set-to-concession.html

The Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Kayode Fayemi has said the Federal Government is set to concession the Ajaokuta Steel Company in Kogi State for a second time

The Minister made this known during an interview with State House correspondents after he and the Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, met President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

According to him, the government had appointed an adviser for the firm and had also appointed a new leadership at the expiration of the tenure of the last.

He added that efforts were on to ensure a solution to the sale of the Aluminium Smelting Company in Ikot Abasi.

The minister said, “The President asked for an update on Ajaokuta and the Aluminium Smelting Company in Ikot Abasi. I came to brief Mr. President on the development to ensure that these companies are back to life.

“I told him about the efforts that Mr. Vice President has been making in ensuring that we have a definitive solution to the sale of Aluminium Smelting Company in Ikot Abasi, and that we also move forward in the resolution and agreement reached on Ajaokuta Steel so that we get ready for the second concession.

“We have appointed an adviser, we have appointed a new leadership there because the term of the last leadership has expired. Those were the things we updated Mr. President on.”

While stating that mineral resources had been contributing significantly to the nation’s Gross Domestic Product, Fayemi said his ministry had already exceeded its target for the year.

He added, “Mineral resources have contributed significantly to the GDP and revenue. This year alone, we have exceeded the target given to us.

“If you look at the Bureau of Statistics report, you will see that the two sectors that have contributed immensely to the GDP are agriculture and solid minerals.”

Akeredolu said he used the opportunity of the meeting to ask the Federal Government to take advantage of the natural resources in Ondo State.

He said although the state had a seaport, it needed a deep seaport.

PoliticsBiafra: Dialogue With Nnamdi Kanu, Others – Assemblies Of God by olajay86(op): 3:29pm On Oct 03, 2017
http://www.titopeblog.com/2017/10/biafra-dialogue-with-nnamdi-kanu-others.html

The General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Nigeria, Rev. Dr. Chidi Okoroafor on Tuesday, advised President Muhammadu Buhari to dialogue with the key actors in the on-going Biafra agitation.

DAILY POST recalls that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has in the recent time being at the fore-front of the renewed campaign for a Biafra republic.

However, a recent military operation in the South-East, which kicked off in Kanu’s home State of Biafra, appears to have removed him from the stage for several days now.

President Muhammadu Buhari has also in his Independence Anniversary broadcast, issued fresh warning to the agitators.

However, Okoroafor said taking a hard stance and dictatorial stance against agitators and those clamouring for restructuring of the country would not do the country any good.

He spoke yesterday at the National Secretariat of the Church in Enugu, where he unveiled activities for the National Convention of the Church, Peniel 2017, tagged “The Church of the Acts of the Apostles.”

Okoroafor, who spoke for the first time after he was elected the President of the Central Africa Assemblies of God Alliance, CAAGA, said about 100,000 worshipers were being expected during the convention scheduled for November 13-17, 2017 at the Evangel Camp, Okpoto, Ebonyi State.

On the on-going Biafra agitation, the Church leader said, “democracy is different from dictatorship. It is government for the people and by the people, so the people would always have their say.

“It is also good that the government should get some of the key agitators on negotiation table; something must have led to the agitation. When you sit at the table you will ask critical questions like: why are you agitating? Is there something we can do? Are there something we can resolve?

“So, my stand is that these things can be handled in a table because we are in democracy. I’m counselling government on best practices in the world.

“We should look at developed countries; find out what they did when they were confronted with same kind of situation. Only fools learn from experience, wise ones learn from what happened to others.”

The GS maintained that but for “selfish loafers”, Nigeria was blessed with abundant natural and human resources, stressing “with good people at the helm of affairs and with dialogue, we will have a better nation.”

Okororafor, however, called on Churches to stay away from partisan politics to avoid causing disaffection among their members.

“The Assemblies of God Church cannot be partisan. Churches should not be partisan but our members who feel they have interest in politics are free to do so.

“But as a Church leader, I cannot mount the pulpit and tell our members to vote for so and so party. If I do so, I will be hurting the sensibilities of other members who belonged to other political parties.

“We have in the past produced politicians; we also have some of our members currently serving in one political position or the other. So, we encourage members who have political ambition to go ahead,”, he stated.

He, however, counselled Churches to play mentorship roles, noting that “the war against corruption would be easily won if the righteous are in power.”

“When the people who are for God are there, we won’t be talking about corruption. Through the word of God, criminals can repent, looters will repent, they can even return what they looted,”, he added.

He called on Christians to be part of the convention irrespective of their denominations, assuring that “we have assembled great speakers from both within and outside the Church. By the grace of God, we are going to bring real gospel, which is very scarce these days. Real gospel changes life.”

PoliticsHow Buhari Destroyed Nigeria’s Economy – Reno Omokri by olajay86(op): 2:19pm On Oct 03, 2017
http://www.titopeblog.com/2017/10/how-buhari-destroyed-nigerias-economy.html

Former aide to the immediate past President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, has told the current Muhammadu Buhari-led administration to leave his former principal alone and focus on amending the economy he has destroyed.

According to Omokri, “It is rather unfortunate that instead of sticking to the facts in its tiff with Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the Federal Government decided to drag former President Jonathan into a matter he knows nothing about by stating that “We inherited a country in tatters- its economy, its security and its social relations. President Buhari deserves credit for rebuilding what has been destroyed.”

He made the call in a long article he shared on social media on Monday, adding, “Thankfully, no less a personality than the President’s own confidante, Professor Itse Sagay, has revealed that the APC is an ‘evil’ party, built on propaganda. This recent statement by Garba Shehu only serves to corroborate that statement.

“For one, President Muhammadu Buhari DID NOT inherit a country in tatters. Rather, on May 29th, 2015, the day he was sworn in, President Buhari inherited a nation that was the largest economy in Africa and the 24th largest economy in the world.

“By the testimony of CNNMoney, he inherited an economy that was the third fastest growing economy in the world, with only China and Qatar growing faster. By the testimony of the British Government, he inherited the fourth fastest growing economy in the world. Whether you take the testimony of CNNMoney or that of the U.K. government, the fact is that we were one of the world’s most progressive economies.

“Also, on May 29, 2015, President Muhammadu Buhari inherited an economy that by the evidence of the World Investment Report, prepared by the Geneva-based United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (Unctad), was the number one destination for foreign direct investment in Africa.

“And finally on this score, on May 29, 2015, President Muhammadu Buhari inherited an economy with a stable currency where the Naira exchanged for 199 Naira to $1 and in which Nigeria had a single digit inflation rate.

“This is in addition to over $30 billion dollars in foreign reserves, $5.6 billion NLNG dividends and a 2015 budget of over 4 trillion Naira which were handed over to the incoming administration by the outgoing Jonathan government.

“These are all facts of history that can be verified by a cursory Google search.

“It is also a fact of history that within just six months of his swearing in as President, the Muhammadu Buhari administration negatively turned the table around in the most remarkable display of ineptitude ever seen in modern political history, to such an extent that from the third fastest growing economy, Nigeria entered into a recession!

“Not just that, but from being the top destination for foreign investment, Nigeria experienced unprecedented capital flight because of the Buhari administration’s Stone Age voodoo economics, which, according to the Nigerian Bureau of Statistics, led to a job loss of 6 million jobs and the closure of thousands of manufacturing firms and other concerns in the real sector.

“And finally, on the note of the economy, it should be noted that from being one of the best performing currencies in the world under President Jonathan the Naira, by evidence of Bloomberg, was the world’s fourth worst performing currency I 2016 having lost more than 100% of its value under Jonathan.

“Again, Nigerians may wish to note that when former President Jonathan was tackling the Boko Haram insurgency, he did not blame or accuse Northern elders. He did what he was elected to do without abdicating his responsibility.

“Today, it is quite sad that President Muhammadu Buhari, who never offered to help during the Boko Haram crisis, now declares that he is ‘disappointed’ in the leaders of the Southeast for not reining in IPOB.

“Pray, whose job is it to tackle security challenges between an elected President and an unelected council of elders?

“The Buhari administration will do well to explain why the US Congress declared Nigeria “the most dangerous place for Christians in the world” on February 4, 2017 or why the World Economic Forum listed Herdsmen as the fourth most deadly terrorists in the world meanwhile to the Buhari regime, they are merely ‘criminals’?

“Rather than inherit a country in tatters, it is precisely President Muhammadu Buhari who has bequeathed a country and an economy in tatters to future generations.

“My advice to President Muhammadu Buhari is this: Once you are elected as a President, you must work to win the hearts of those who rejected you during the election instead of cooking up schemes to get your revenge against them.”

The Governor said this while warning against allowing the rising tension in the country to degenerate into a violent conflict.

Lalong recalled how an Igbo man sacrificed his life for him.

According to him, the Igbo man, who was his guardian, was brutally killed after saving his life during the crisis when he was three years old.

He said this on the occasion of Nigeria’s 57th Independence anniversary during a church service held at the national headquarters of the Evangelical Church Winning All in Jos, Plateau State.

He said, “The memory of what happened to me when I was three years old is still fresh in my mind; an Igbo man who was my guardian that married my aunty was killed; but before he was killed, he took me and locked me inside a room.

“That memory is still fresh in my mind and anybody who is beating the drums of war has not seen it.

“If true federalism will address the injustice and cry of marginalisation in the country, government should be ready to address it.

“We should all agree to live together ; nobody should give any excuse on why the country should separate.

“In the midst of the clamour for agitation and restructuring, Nigeria still stands strong in unity.

“I am sure that if a referendum is conducted on whether Nigeria should break up or remain united, those who want the country to break up will not be up to 10 per cent.”
