This is the same person a court said they should grant bail on human rights conditions.

What has happened to right of life, of those that boko haram killed, as a result of the diversion of funds meant to buy equipment and arms to protect them in the north east? - but some people are quick to shout human rights violation - a country where there is no equity and real justice beyond hypocritical & nepotic ideals of people, would never know peace

olajide8 created a thread about this project waaay back in 2012 and I participated on that thread. He has been taking pictures of the project periodically and these are some of the pictures below.

First, here's a link to the thread. https://www.nairaland.com/898591/fashola-woos-foreign-investment-partners

Sanwo-olu said the blue line would be ready by 2023 - I guess paucity of funds or priority change has necessitated this, or maybe lthe story would have been different if ambode shared the same view

The youths of this generations, especially those born between 1987-1999 as shameful as this may sound, were all brought up with the wrong antics and training, that's even if, most were even trained -sorry to throw this slavo, but there are some things that must be said, not for reasons of justification of any act or action of anybody, but for posterity -

Well my point is they all lack sound judgment of behaviour, and they are all selfish, they only watch out for their own immediate benefit, which is evident in the level of yahoo-yahoo and kidnapping presently happening across at strata of the society where nigerians find themselves which is also perpetrated by those within this same age bracket cross the length and breath of this country.

The oxford dictionary defines regime as a junta which comes to power by guns or forceful take over, and administration is by civil action of election so when did an elected president now become a regime? Is this how they want to teach their own children vocabulary? Well... that's their problem.

To the issue of disobeying court orders people take positions or come up with opinions based on their own side of the divide- they have forgotten that, if they were on the other side possibly, they would do worst- because naturally the average Nigerian is wicked and has a wicked heart.

the question we also fail to ask ourselves is, how would we have handled this issue if we were in the govts position? Nnamdi kanu a man with British citizenship came and did his own injury, then came another man who said he is calling for a revolution and only subsequently changed it to a title for a protest - he called for civil disobedience and started by defacing public infrastructure at surulere - but because we already have a mind set, we would rather go with this wicked position and hide under all forms and justifications, that it is legal, one day we would all see what we have done to this country - that didn't call for the kind of elements that now occupy it's length and breadth

I have been reading with so much disdain, the recent tantrums thrown on divorced ladies on this platform recently. I may not have followed every comment and reply, but majority I read from guy seems to shame the ladies. This is very wrong.

There is nothing dehumanizing or stigmatizing about a divorced lady coming out to say she was divorced. There is nothing glorifying managing an unmanageable husband or wife in a matrimonial home. I have rarely read people shame a divorced man, or are their stigma different?

The truth is simple, its better to live alive or stay and die, and its very very simple, simpler than staying.

As a legal practitioner, I have had the opportunity to handle/witness several divorce cases, and I'm sure to say its better to leave alive.

65% of divorce cases in Nigerian courts today are instituted by ladies who couldn't tolerate a toxic marriage any longer. This simply means, there is something certainly wrong with men of today, or both.

Men have become more randy, intolerant and abusive than before.

Let's watch how we shame somebody, especially in a situation we haven't been involved in before.

Remember the goal is to be alive and happy, married or single.

Thanks, and have a lovely week.

NwekeUG:
IgbereTV reports that the Senator and Congressman representing New Jersey, where Sowore resides in the U.S.A., wrote a letter to Nigerian Ambassador to the United States of America, on the detention of Sowore by the DSS.

See letter below

Congress of the United States
Washington, DC 20515

November 25, 2019

Ambassador Sylvianus Adiewere Nsofor
Head of Mission
Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
3519 International Court, N.W.
Washington DC. 20008

Dear Ambassador Nsofor,

We write to express strong concern about closing media and Civic space in Nigeria. There have been a number of troubling reports about Nigeria security services assaulting and detaining journalists using excessive force on non-violent protesters and taking other actions that inhibit freedom of expression, and otherwise prevent Nigerians from fully exercising their constitutional rights.

Journalists and activists such as Omoyele Sowore, Jones Abiri, Kofi Bartels, Samuel Ogundipe, and others investigating and speaking-out politically sensitive problems like corruption or insecurity have been harassed and detained, with reports that some have been tortured. In at least one instance, the Department of Security Services has ignored a court order to release a detained activist. Restrictions and deadly crackdowns on non-violent protesters since 2015 have similarly reflected a lack of apparent commitment to civic freedoms which is beginning to negatively impact the image of Nigeria's government, both home and abroad. Security forces used live ammunitions on Shiite protestors in Zaria, Kaduna State in 2015; on protestors in Onitsha, Anambra State in 2016, again on a Shiite procession in Abuja in 2018, raided the office of Daily Trust, and arrested the editor in January, 2019, and shot and killed Precious Owolabi, a journalist covering a July 2019 protest in Abuja. The crackdowns have collectively killed hundreds of Nigerian citizens and serve serve as troubling demonstration of the excessive force used by the military. The alleged perpetrators of these abuse have yet to be brought to justice.

Mr. Ambassador, Nigeria has a critical role to play in preserving peace and and stability in West Africa, and as the most popular democracy in the continent, it could serve as a shining example of how countries can best observe the rights enshrined in the African Charter on Human and People's Rights. However, failure to failure to respect the rights in the Charter and those in Nigeria's own constitution undermine your nation's ability to lead in this area. We urge you to ensure that the rights and liberties contained in the constitution are observed for all citizens, and to take strong action against further closing space for journalists, political opposition, and those in civil society. The rights of all citizens must be respected without the threat of government reprisal. We look forward to seeing progress on this critically important issue. Thank you for your attention on this urgent matter.

Sincerely,

Signed

Robert Menendez
United States Senator

Josh Gottheimer
Member of Congress

First question, is he an American citizen or a Nigerian citizen? If he carries dual citizenship he is not eligible to contest the election of the office Of the president of nigeria - but if he is a Nigerian citizen, what right does America have to write us on how to treat people that want to cause anarchy in nigeria?

Secondly, if he is an American citizen, America is trying to cause unrest and war in nigeria.

This matter is similar to Nigeria and the rest of Africa, shoprite import poultry items from south Africa and sell in their stores, Benin export the largest consignment of rice same with Niger, Chad, Cameroun and even ghana, they export bournvita satchet to Nigeria all their economies have single digit exchange rates with the dollar, while we are struggling with triple digit exchange rates all caused by importation and loss of jobs as a result of the relocation of these companies to our neighbours and inflation - abegi we must always do things within the arm bit of the law, as faulty as it maybe, we must hold those responsible for correcting this nonsense responsible - the national assembly members

Sowore is not above the law, especially in a case of treasonable felony, as said by the DSS, it supersedes any ruling of any court, even in America if you are accused of treason you get the lethal injection straight, well since we didn't curb nnamdi kanu's excesses, it has given rise to sowore, only God knows who would come next

Nairaland / General / If The Pyramids Are As Old As 12000years by olajide8(m): 12:27pm On Nov 25, 2019
I was wondering, how old is civilization? Mankind...

Some literature say that civilizations goes back millenniums before we started counting centuries, so how old really is the world? or how did man really come into existence? Apart from through the creation story if there is any alternate story

I have read in ancient history, the historical Egypt story, from the BCE which are dated as far back as 3000yrs before BC the middle Era, and also language has changed, even English has metamorphosed severally, and as we speak today- it's also still changing new words are springing up, and new words are added to our lexicon with new meanings given to them, even spelling of words are changing e.g we use to have labour (UK), and we have labor (US) most computers don't allow the UK spelling which means word spelling is changing, well this is not really my point of discuss thou.

My question is how old is civilization - mankind, when and who really built the sphinx and the pyramids of egypt?

Any company that is serious about doing manufacturing business should first build their own power plant 3000kwa power plants to 1megawatt wouldnt cost them N500m to get done - this would create employment for engineers

Why do everything concerning ibos give y'all careless erection!??

Philanthropy my foot, MKO was the biggest philanthropist Nigeria ever had, and he didn't restrict it to his community that is philanthropy - bill Gates is given out billion yearly to people in countries he doesn't even know so?? Now, what you see the man doing is, making his immediate environment conducive for himself, so if he relocates his life would not be threatened by the poverty around him that's all - plain and simple, and I must say, good for him, if he hasn't finished we all welcome it- God has blessed him to do it for his community, great, but! But!! that cannot be put in the same bracket or sentence with people doing it across Africa with the same means and opportunity available to them or those using their office to bring development to people that don't even know how to pronounce their names
