Health / Re: FG To Revive 10,000 Primary Healthcare Centres by olajide8(m): 12:30pm On Nov 03, 2019
BuhariCarryGo:
Nigeria’s government is set to revive 10,000 primary healthcare centres in the country, the Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, has said.
Mr Ehanire said this when some members of Association of Nigeria Health Journalists, ANHEJ, led by its President, Hassan Zaggi visited the minister in his office on Friday in Abuja.
He said the government was trying to create a balance to provide health facilities for all Nigerians, even those in the rural areas, villages, and difficult to access areas.
“That is the reason that we should not forget those people by creating at least one health centre in every political ward of the country; almost 10,000 primary health care to be revitalised.
“Many of them are already there because they are neglected, they are being revived and modernised and the standard expectation of a primary health care now is that it should have modern facilities and infrastructure.
“We also expect digital service so we can be able to take care of many of the diseases that occur. We do it in partnership with States and the Local Governments.
“The federal government has been teaming with the local government to create the network; our expectation is that 60 per cent of diseases in the country can be taken care by the Primary Health Cares,’’ he said.

https://dailynigerian.com/nigerian-govt-to-revive-10000-primary-healthcare-centres/?

The first question is do they have up to 10000 primary health care centers ?- if they say 500 or 1000 okay no problem, but 10000 where are they? It means in every local govt that is the 774 they have 13 primary health care centers

I just tire for all these lies and stealing in this country - ministry of health show us the 10000 centers, primary health care development agency, executive secretary -show us the centers ?

Thank you - sometimes people wonder why I refused to spray my car, only patch up spots where Keke drivers brush - I was once offered N1m for my car bcoz it a first body! I bought another one of recent, that was sprayed and the quality is far more cheaper then what they offered for mine simply bcoz of the spray work cool

Allow Nnamdi Kanu come home to bury his mother, Imo monarchs tell FG
Published

Sunday Nwakanma – Umuahia

Monarchs in Orlu, Imo State, on Thursday, appealed to the Federal Government to allow the leader of proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu to return to Nigeria for the burial his mother, Sally, without molestation.

This appeal came at Amakwo Event Centre in Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State.

The royal fathers led by HRM Eze Gideon Ejike said, “Kanu is not a terrorist. Terrorists kill but we are yet to see any bloodshed by Kanu. He is our hero and should be allowed to bury his mother before the beginning of next year. He deserves the honour and right as the first son to bury his mother.”

The monarchs also called on the United Nations to prevail on the FG to allow Kanu to bury his dead mother without molestation.

The traditional ruler of Orsu ancient kingdom in Ideato North LGA said Kanu had brought hope to the oppressed people of South East and South-South Nigeria, hence their decision to bestow on him a chieftaincy title

All this I want to I want to. Why not just head over to the governor's office with your grievance and questions?

When a person is presenting a joint venture, we want actual foot prints and not another P&ID, thou the good thing is they are the ones constructing with their own funds - the previous GEJ admin constructed all roads in nigeria on paper, the moved gas to a landless place for bottling in a non existent plant, they even constructed all the rail lines in nigeria and registered sufficient universities to give nigeria sufficient tertiary education, so why should I swallow an Aketi on paper hospital?
Politics / Re: Ondo State Govt Partners With German Firm To Build $1.1billion Medical City by olajide8(m): 8:34pm On Oct 24, 2019
OndoTrends:
As part of its commitment to improve the health sector, facilitate modern healthcare in Ondo State and end medical tourism abroad , the administration of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has signed a memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a Germany-based health institution, Medicus International, to build a USD1.1billion Sunshine medical City in the state.

The Mou was signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde, while the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Medicus International, Frank Spriewald, signed on behalf of the company at the Ondo State Governor's Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja, on Thursday, October 24, 2019.

Speaking at the event, Governor Akeredolu said he was more than convinced that Medicus International has good intention to develop the medical infrastructure in the state.

He said: "I am more than convinced that Medicus has good intention. As I told them when they came, coincidentally about few weeks ago, I was in Germany myself and I saw their structure.

"When I was in Berlin, I was talking to another medical organisation to bring their facility to Ondo State. I was negotiating with them not knowing that someone else was already waiting for this.

"No doubt, we are interested in this. We have made efforts. We are already working on how to secure a land very close to the airport. It is an interesting thing.

"We are prepared to cooperate and we know that this sort of thing is to be done as a joint venture. The interest of Ondo State is there. We are putting land. The joint venture itself will come up."

Arakunrin Akeredolu also announced that the state government has set up a team led by the Special Adviser on Health to work with the Medicus International.

Earlier, the facilitator for Medicus International, Chief Oludare Bello, said the time for the execution of the project is thirty six months and development will be completed in forty eight months.

According to him, the hospital will deal with all facets of healthcare, adding that the nearness to the airport became imperative because the hospital will have its own helicopter that will transverse other parts of the state for medical purposes.

Chief Bello explained that there will be other facilities in the medical city such as conference Center, Cinema, teaching hospital and nursing school.

He said: "The hospital is a city on its own. The design is premised on the fact that there will be green in the whole hospital. That is to make the patients see the ambience of the hospital when they lean over the window to have a view.

"It will be one of its kind in Nigeria. Over 50% of the doctors are already trained in Germany. The doctors that will be employed here will also be trained in Germany.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, Dr. Jibayo Adeyeye, said Medicus International is charged with the responsibility of looking for fund for the project, adding that the State government is only investing 100 hectares of land and with other routine approvals.

He said the MoU is coming after serial of engagements to have a memorandum signed between the state government and the organization.

Crime / Re: Police Arrest Kidnapper Who Collected $15,000 Ransom In Bitcoins by olajide8(m): 9:29am On Oct 23, 2019
References:
The Nigerian Police Force, Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Command says it has arrested the main suspect behind the first-of-its-kind kidnap incident involving an exchange of $15,000 worth of bitcoins as ransom payment.

However, PRNigeria investigation revealed that this is coming as security sources are beginning to point accusing fingers on the victim’s family members, domestic staff and other relatives who are believed to be deeply involved in these kidnapping incidences.

Recall that a Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chieftain, Umar Ardo, was in September 2019 forced to pay $15,000 in bitcoins to get his daughter, Ms Aisha Umar, freed by kidnappers.

During his weekly security updates at the weekend, the FCT Commissioner of Police, Bala Ciroma, revealed that the suspect, one Sa’adu Abubakari, who is currently in the Police custody, has made a useful confession in connection with the new trend in kidnapping cases.

Mr Ciroma disclosed that the Anti-Kidnapping Squad had nabbed 13 members of kidnapping syndicate and other dangerous criminals.

“Sequel to the ongoing investigation into a reported kidnap incident at Asokoro on 14th September 2019, Police detectives from the Command, Anti-Kidnapping Squad, have arrested one Saadu Abubakari ‘m’ 23 years in connection with the incident.

“The suspect was arrested around Apo after the phone number used for the criminal act was traced to him.

“The Command is making concerted effort to arrest other persons involved in the criminal act,” Mr Ciroma disclosed.

According to Mr Ciroma, after the payment of the ransom in bitcoins, and the suspect release, the police engaged its intelligent operatives who swung into action.

Subsequently, Mr Ciroma said, the suspect was trailed and finally tracked down in Apo where he was arrested.

Police sources informed PRNigeria that Mr Abubakari, who is a commercial motorcycle rider (Okada), admitted to owning the SIM card which was registered in February 2018.

He, however, sold it to another suspect (now at large) who bought it from him for N1000.

Mr Abubakari who hails from Kano said he was tricked by a certain female suspect who acted to have lost her way, contacts and desperate for a new SIM card to make calls.

“The female suspect, who spoke in Hausa language, negotiated to buy his SIM card for N1000 with which the kidnap for ransom deal was made,” Mr Abubakari was said to have confessed.

Further findings also revealed that Mr Abubakari is barely literate and could only speak in Hausa.

“He claimed to have never stolen before. He said doesn’t know anything about bitcoin or understand how it works. He doesn’t even have a bank account or ATM card,” a security source told PRNigeria.

Police source said that while the crack team of intelligence and investigative officers were on the verge of unravelling the case, some challenges set in.

According to the source, this kidnap incidence is unique in the sense that it “sets a precedence in the kidnapping cases because of the bitcoin”.

An intelligent officer noted that the sophistication of the technology involved has opened a new chapter challenging their investigative skills.

According to him, while the Police were monitoring the situation, so far more than $9000 had been withdrawn from the bitcoin.

The officer, however, assured that the operatives were on the verge of overcoming the obstacles posed by tracking the bitcoins and would soon nab the culprits.

“We now know that we need a lot of tools, collaborations and more training. We have almost wrapped up this case but there are still gaps and challenges in tracking the bitcoins.

“The challenges are not only the technical nature of the transactions but the technological tools needed to crack it,” the officer said.

So it can be tracked so why do terrorist use this means and the international community would say they can't trace sponsorship of terror?

This is what abuja is filled with - fake people that dress well, go to beer parlours and blow off millions, they drive range rover jeeps and pay landlords in gwarinmpa millions- when they can't get this to steal, they carry guns burst people's homes at night, when this becomes challenging they result to stealing cars - when this is partially blocked and becomes high risk, they clone landed property documents and sell to 5 people and tell efcc to come and arrest them, but they would rather die then release people's money they conned out of them (they are all over abuja, if you make a mistake of falling prey), when it becomes higher on the risk scale, they result to kidnapping - and it just gets messier

Religion is education and education is religion. There are inseparable.

What is all this crave for attention, or victim mentality that you people are trying to force down the throat of others - to make matters worst, it's also a borrowed religion, you peeps don't even own it, and for your information nobody hates Islam, my late grand parents are all Muslims and they didn't practice this kind of religion, that you peeps of nowadays are practicing which is all about forcing acceptance instead of conviction acceptance.

What is the relationship between Sunday and trying to justify wants, which are not in our society? And how it indirectly affect employment terms as signed too and agreed by the employee - If you want to change the status quo, then change the official work and weekend break around the world, that nigeria official ascribes too, if not Saudi Arabia, Iran runs a Sunday to Thursday schedule you peeps are free to relocate

Then I go for the meeting, especially if that is where my bread and butter is being paid for- a man's belief should not interfere with the reason he is employed, we play too much in this country - Moreso, for better analysis of this issue, when a person is being employed it specified in his terms of employment the work hours and days, and for that period the organization owns you, because that period is being paid for - so why should you then take away that from the organization?, bottom line if you believe your work is disturbing your personal believe, then leave the organization

Gossipninja:
Two suspected robbers who lured a computer dealer to a desolate location and dispossessed him of 3 Apple laptops valued at N1.5 million, at gun point, have been arrested by the operatives of the Lagos Rapid Response Squad.

The suspects, 27-year-old South Africa returnee forex trader, Victor Remi, 27, and Ekeh Maxwell, 23, a musician, disclosed that they got all the details of their victim through his twitter handle.

They added that they opened a conversation with him immediately and placed an order for two Apple laptops (MacBook Pro – 2018 edition).

According to Remi, “I told the dealer I was the Managing Director of a new company in Acme Road, Ikeja. I also told him that my daughter recommended him and that his laptops are legit. .

I ordered one for myself and another for my secretary. It took us a week to initiate, perfect our plan and execute it. My colleague, Maxwell borrowed his brother’s Camry (FKJ 833 EZ) for the deed. .

We bought a toy gun and painted it. I controlled the dealer to Acme Crescent because we knew the location was a desolate area. While Maxwell drove, I whatsapped the dealer that he brings the consignment to my office. .

I told him that my driver would pick him up at Acme Crescent. We met him there. He entered the vehicle while the driver picked me up few meters from where he entered. He was sitting in front with the laptops. .
.
I placed the gun on his neck and ordered him to surrender them. We wanted to take his phone too but he pleaded not to be stripped of everything. We told him to alight from the car and we escaped.”

Politics / Re: Minimum Wage: FG, Workers’ Face-off Worsens As Labour Rejects Sack Option by olajide8(m): 9:31am On Oct 05, 2019
Ecstasy154:
•Says threat to downsize cheap blackmail
•Ngige: the times call for sacrifice

Frank Ikpefan, Abuja

Organised labour on Friday dismissed as cheap blackmail a statement by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, that the Federal Government might lay off some workers in the public service should labour insist on having its way on the implementation of the N30,000 minimum wage.

The Secretary, Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council (JNPSNC), Alade Lawal, told The Nation that labour would not be cowed by such threat.

He also faulted claim by Ngige that government would require N580 billion annually to pay workers the minimum wage across board as demanded by labour.

“As far as we are concerned, anybody talking about retrenchment is blackmail. It is just cheap blackmail,” Lawal said.

He added: “We don’t subscribe to that. If they like, let them come to the negotiation table so that we can reach an agreement and implement so that everybody can move on. If they like, let them leave it.

“They will say they can’t meet labour’s demand because they are not doing their homework. How will they say it is not feasible (to meet labour’s demand?).

“The figure they are parading is not correct. They don’t need N580 billion. They don’t need it to implement the minimum wage.

“The number of employees in the federal public service is not up to one million. They say it is 1.33 million. Let them disaggregate it and tell Nigerians. Break it down and let us do verification.

“The component part of these 1.33 million employees they are talking about is the consolidated public salary structure which majorly is domiciled under the IPPIS platform.

“As we speak, the employees there are not up to 70,000. They said in their own papers they are using for negotiation is 183,000. Where do they get all those things from?

“Because you want to negotiate something now you come to negotiation table and you start playing with figures. It is so sad. They think they are talking to the labour of pre-independence. Some of them are just lucky to be there. It is not that they are better than some of us.”

He said the government team negotiating the consequential adjustment on minimum wage was yet to reach out to labour to tell them when negotiation would resume.

Lawal insisted that labour would not back down on its percentage increase demand from government for workers on levels 7-14 and levels 15-17.

“Up till now, they have not reached out to us. They are the owners of the knife and they also have the yam with them, so they can do it the way they like. But if this is the way we want to run our country, then I am sorry, because we have a long way to go.

“You know where we started from. We started from 66.66 per cent across board because the minimum wage was increased from N18,000 to N30,000, an increase of 66.66 per cent.

“So we said apply that across board. They cried that the federal government would not be able to pay. For levels 7-14, we came down to 50 per cent. Then for levels 15-17, 40 per cent, but they said they cannot pay.

“We came down again for levels 7-14, 40 per cent and levels 15-17 30 per cent. They cried loud and said they could not pay. We came down again; levels 7-14, 35 per cent, levels 15-17 30 per cent. Again, they said they cannot pay. We came down again. Levels 7-14, 30 per cent, levels 15-17, 25 per cent, yet they said they cannot pay before we came down to this 29 per cent for levels 7-14 and 24 per cent for levels 15-17.

“To start talking about going down now will make us look unserious; that is the meaning.”

Lawal also said labour was not sure if President Muhammadu Buhari had been properly briefed on the stalemate.

He said: “Now they are not telling Mr. President the truth. That is my worry. “Truly, they are his aides.

“If we cannot reach him, they are the ones that will reach him. And if we say it is A and they go to him and say it is B, since he has not put on the table the machinery to fact-check most of the things they are telling him, it will be difficult. That is the tragedy of the whole situation. It is very, very sad.”

He also said that all the promises made by government after the fuel price increase from N87 to N145 are yet to be fulfilled.

His words: “Let me explain one thing to you: when fuel price was increased from N87 to N145, an increase of about 60 per cent, the landing cost of fuel was less than N100 at that time.

“They raked in a lot of money; trillions of naira. They promised heaven and earth, social intervention. What did they do for workers? Nothing.

“For the fuel price increase from N87 to N145, they set up a palliative committee to placate labour, to ensure that we didn’t go on strike. I served on that committee and we made far-reaching recommendations.

“Labour was not given anything. Whereas, to placate us, they said that they had earmarked N600 billion for intervention that we should just come and meet and discuss how we were going to apply that N600 billion across the various sectors, including adding something to workers’ salaries in the area of transport.

“All the recommendations that we made, they didn’t do anything; not a single thing. At the negotiation table, they said they didn’t say so. Is that seriousness?

“Again, as at 2011 when the last increase was effected, dollar was 150 to the naira. Now it is 350. In effect, what you are saying is that if the foreign exchange receipt of the Federal Government is $20 billion, at 150 to a dollar, you know how much government will get to spend.

“Then at N360, that’s a difference of two hundred and something naira. You have a basket full of naira.

“Now you are spending on the so called infrastructure, you are spending on the sectors of the economy, you are answering to the greed of the political elite; those who are making the wealth for the government you kept them, you didn’t do anything. How can somebody now come in 2019 when all these things have happened within the national economy?

“Even on this VAT thing they are talking about, they are saying they are going to rake in trillions of naira; on this VAT increase that they have not even done something for workers.”

Workers should ignore Ngige – TUC

Speaking separately in Enugu on Friday on the issue, the Enugu State Chairman of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Mr. Chukwuma Igbokwe, asked workers to ignore Ngige’s statement that government could not pay the new minimum wage unless some workers were laid off.

According to him, Ngige probably did not know what he was saying when he said that government could not afford to pay the consequential salary adjustment unless the workforce was downsized.

He said that government could pay N580 billion workers wage bill, pointing out that government had already paid N500 billion on arrears of salary.

“I don’t think Ngige knows what he is saying,” the labour leader said.

He said that the organised labour had made it clear that upward increment in worker’s salary became necessary because of the prevailing economic realities in the country such as the increase in monetary foreign exchange, VAT as well as general high cost of living in the country.

“Labour has been magnanimous in scaling down their demand from 66.6 per cent to 29 per cent and 24 per cent, and for this reason, government should heed their demand,” Igbokwe said.

Ngige: The times call for sacrifice

A statement issued by Ngige’s Special Adviser on Media, Nwachukwu Obidiwe, yesterday, quoted the minister as asking workers to make some sacrifice for the country.

It also described the minister’s warning about the consequences of meeting labour’s demand as patriotic.

The statement said: “The statement made by the minister yesterday (Thursday) concerning the consequential adjustment on the minimum wage is patriotic.

“Government has promised a thorough ventilation of all issues.

“When negotiation resumes government is going to open its books for labour to see the federal government income and expenditure.

“The times call for sacrifice.”

Receiving a delegation of the United Labour Congress (ULC) led by its President, Mr. Joe Ajeiro, on Thursday, Ngige had said that the implantation of the new minimum wage based on figures worked out by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) was not sustainable.

Government, according to him, does not want a situation where it will have to lay off workers, as doing so will add to the burden of the citizenry.

Ngige appealed to labour to accept the consequential adjustment from levels 7 to 17, adding that the federal government had only three months left to implement the new minimum wage.

He said: “Government cannot afford that kind of money now. Besides, the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari is more interested in the lowest cadre of workers which are those on grade level 1 step 1 and level 6 step 1. These are the ones who the N30,000 will have greater impact on.

“Government has done their own homework and brought out what they can use to defend this consequential adjustment. Grade 1 to 6 does not have any problem, but 7 to 14 band and 15 to 17 band, this is where we have the problem.

“So if you push government to go and accede to an increment which its resources cannot accommodate, you are indirectly asking them to retrench workers so that the few that are remaining will get this ‘big big’ money. We don’t want that.

“From 2015 the president has made it clear that he is not out to inflict pains on Nigerians and that he does not want to create unemployment.

“But even at that our increase in population is galloping and our resources are not consequentially increasing to meet up. That is why we have a lot of unemployed youths on the streets today.

“We need to arrive at an agreement as soon as possible so that we can use the 2019 budget allocation to defray this consequential adjustment because it will be bad if we are unable to do it and we finish this financial year by December because the budget circle is going to return to January/December 2020.

“So we have three months only before this recurrent fund are swept back into government treasury. That is the law.”

He regretted the inability of the joint negotiating team of both the government and labour to agree on the consequential adjustments, insisting that the new wage may become bloated by workers on grade levels 7-14 and 15-17.

Organised labour is already mobilising its members to embark on strike on the 16th of this month.

BOMB!!! "We're all Biafrans!", Aisha Tells Buhari, DSS (Video)

By Wisdom Nwedene

The Convener of #Bringbackourgirls, Aisha Yusuf, has told the Department of State Security Services, DSS, and President Muhammadu Buhari that "we are all Biafrans", Igbere TV reports.

Yusuf was reacting over the arrest of a Nigerian Journalist, Mr. Chido Onumah by the department.

Onumah, a Nigerian journalist and rights activist who was arrested and detained by the Department of State Services on Sunday evening, revealed that he was arrested for wearing a T-shirt with the inscription: ‘We Are All Biafrans'.

Igbere TV had reported that Onumah, who was arrested by DSS operatives at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport in Abuja, was detained for hours.

Speaking over the arrest, Yusuf said what we have is Political DSS.

She noted that the Vice president of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo was present during the time the journalist launched a book entitled "We Are All Biafrans".

She revealed that she is a Biafran too and the DSS can never shut her down to stop talking about President Muhammadu Buhari’s that has failed in all ramifications.

"DSS picked Chudo Onumah at the airport apparently because he was wearing a t-shirt that says "We Are All Biafrans".

"Are we not all Biafrans? Are we not refuges right now in our country? So, DSS that is supposed to be an intelligent gathering organization, protecting Nigeria, picks up a man, wearing a t-shirt that says we are all Biafrans, a man who wrote a book with the same title that the vice president was at the book launch. For what? Is it this same DSS that we rely on to gather information? Is it this the same DSS that we rely on to arrest Boko Haram leader, Shekau?".

She further lambasted the DSS and claimed that with the way they are going, they won't be able to curb the insecurity in the country.

She add that everyone is a Biafran including her.

" In case you don't know, my name is Aisha Yusuf, I am a Biafran, we are all Biafrans. We are not living in our country, we are merely surviving and we deserve better"

This is actually the only solution right size all govt agencies and remove the powers of chief executives and perm sec., to approve contracts domicile it in the administrative unit - directors, so they can be held liable and jailed if contractors are not paid or if they inflate contracts or contracts are substandard
