Ignorant and lazy people want Nigeria to be split. Are we really a divided people? NO The unfortunate thing is that we have a government that is so lazy and corrupt, hence making us blame one another for the government failures. 'Many non faithful Muslims had promised mayhem on Nigeria if GEJ should win presidential election next year. No law and order, corruption at it peak, we don't have international name sorry we have, it called scammers, gold diggers etc ethnic groups, tribalism, nepotism and Godfatherism has taken over our political system.' The blame for all that falls squarely on GEJ. If we have an active government that prosecutes criminals, jail and kill them, then others will be dissauded from crime. If we break up, the same rogues leading us now will lead the independent nations, so nothing will change, rather get worse. Imagine a Biafra country in the hands of the Abia state governor and his croonies. |
anonimi:You've embarrassed yourself greatly on this thread. If you have any shame, you will retract the rubbish you wrote earlier and apologise. Continuing in your folly is like swimming in one's vomit. Its nasty. You probably never lived in Lagos, you should shut up and learn. |
funny biased referee. Is it a law to make players exit from the back of the field?? Trying to urge Cameroon on. |
any live links? |
Fashola did not tame Lagos. Tinubu did. Those who do not know Lagos pre 1999 may not appreciate Tinubu. It was Tinubu who liberated Lagos state. All those area boys were tamed by Tinubu. Fashola's success is akin to a man who builds on a well laid foundation. |
I am a Muslim and I support Jihad. Striving to do good in the way of Allah is Jihad. |
VICTORCIZA:lol. You're pathetic mate. Take your jihadist agenda to people that reason like you. |
adconline:Not all Nigerians, but a sizeable chunk of those supporting the president. You can see them on this thread trying so hard to defend the government. We all know crude oil is our major source of income. This same crude oil has been increasing in price for last 4 years. We dey chop am dey clean mouth for 4 years. Now the doom is before us, our government is running from pillar to post. Worst time for oil prices to fall is during election period. PDP needs money, and they need it big. CBN also need a lot of money to regulate the naira. |
VICTORCIZA:Mandela was also a terrorist to Maggy Thatcher. I can understand if Buhari is terrorising you. Your source of income is in danger. |
aguiyi:You see, you're a prime example of the gullibility of Nigerians. IF food import drops, naira will rise! If economy improves, Naira will rise. If jobs are created, Naira will rise. The confidence in the naira will grow. Traders will want to invest in it. Our government will not need to buy Naira to save naira. On your sheepish claim of food importation decrease, I advice you to put it to test. We have a cosmetic government that will say anything to be relevant, but the facts are not there to back it up. Read this editorial as a start (written a year ago) EDITORIAL President Goodluck Jonathan, at the 7th Annual Banking and Finance Conference in Abuja, said that the country spent N630billion last year to import agricultural products. The president spoke through his minister of state for finance, Dr. Yarima Lawal Ngama. Earlier in July, the minister for agriculture and rural develoment, Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina, had lamented how Nigeria fritters away a whopping N1.3trillion to import four food items yearly. This includes a monstrous N356bn, or roughly N1bn per day, on importing parboiled rice; a humongous N217bn on sugar and an unbelievable N97bn on fish. This is indefensibly scandalous for a country whose leaders claim to be "vigorously" pursuing an Agriculture Transformation Agenda (ATA) and where food items can be sourced locally. Clearly, some government officials must be benefiting from a racket in this bogus expenditure; otherwise we have no business importing food items like rice, wheat, fish, sorghum and tomatoes. Nigeria has been a leading contender for the position of the country with the highest level of food insecurity in the world, according to the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) since 2011. Nothing has been done to monitor the country's food import bill. Off the figures released by the Central Bank of Nigeria, wheat accounted for the highest amount with N165bn, while fish (N105bn), rice (N75bn) and sugar (N60bn) followed, in that order. The figures keep skyrocketing at an abysmally intolerable 11 per cent per annum. A serious government would have declared an emergency in the sector. Food security has three basic dimensions: availability, access, and stability. While food availability is determined by the level of food supply composed of subsistence production and market supply stemming from domestic production, food stocks and food imports, access to food is the result of the ability to express food needs (beyond subsistence production) as effective demand, while experts see stability as variations and the risk of shortfalls in food production, supply and/or demand over time. Nigeria has no response mechanism to a situation where both food supply and demand meet and the requisite calories to meet the people's needs are available on a continuous and stable basis. It is painful that each time the spin doctors reel out the Goodluck Jonathan administration's achievements, agriculture is rated high. The question is: at what cost? If most of the food we import can be grown locally with enough leftover for export, why have we not returned to the drawing board and reconnected to the immediate post-colonial era when, through good policies, planning and political will, the economy was driven by agriculture? Perhaps we need remedial programmes to address our over-reliance on crude oil. President Jonathan and his economic management team are either inept or unpatriotic. Their task should be simply to revive agriculture that was the mainstay of the economy five decades ago, when we were the envy of most advanced economies. There is a groundswell of opinion that unemployment will be put to flight once we get serious about farming. It is the sure path to prosperity. We cannot afford to continue to wallow in self-pity over atrocious amounts spent on imported food items when we could be a giant in food export. |
One man asked for his salary to be reduced, another one's wife gets paid for an office she probably has never stepped foot into. Both men are asking for your votes. Vote wisely |
FrankC3:Oh dear! do you even know what Bloomberg is or does? This is perhaps the first news on Nigeria for a long time. I am on Bloomberg almost daily and it is easy to see countries who are advancing on daily basis. Apart from the rebasing (which is like changing goal post), nothing worthy has come out of Nigerian economy except bad news. As you can see in the report, falling oil prices is just one of the reasons for the falling Naira. Nigeria is not doing anything right at this moment. Forget the bullcrap your government is feeding you. The major indicators for an economic growth are absent in Nigeria. |
Splashme:Bloomberg joins CNN, BBC, SA govt, etc in being card carrying APC members. |
redsun:I see you hate the truth. Our economy is moving towards a crash and the indicators are to be dismissed? |
I predicted the naira to fall to an all time low against major currencies by December/January. Goodluck will erode the reserves to fund elections. Oil Prices will fall, US stimuli will weaken. If you want to send money to Nigeria, save your money till january ending or February and you are most likely going to get a 2% increment. |
Oil prices are falling, elections are apporaching, Naira is nose diving at a time CBN is actually spending money to keep the naira at a normal level. It seems to me that the CBN is very good at pouring water into a basket and expecting to fill a tank. Or maybe they just want to be seen doing something. Report: Nigeria Central Bank Vows to Defend Naira Near Record Low Nigeria pledged to keep supporting its currency as the naira headed for a record low amid lower oil prices and the end of U.S. monetary stimulus that bolstered emerging-market assets. “We will continue to defend the naira,” Sarah Alade, a deputy governor at the Central Bank of Nigeria, said by phone today from Abuja, the capital. “Yesterday, we saw the naira at a level we were not comfortable with. We increased dollar supply in the market and it calmed.” Since mid-September, the central bank has used the reserves of Africa’s top oil producer and biggest economy to sell dollars outside of regular auctions held Mondays and Wednesdays, according to Standard Chartered Plc. (STAN) It will keep using the auctions and direct dollar sales to banks to preserve the value of the currency, Alade said. Her comments failed to stem the naira’s decline, with the currency set for its biggest one-day drop against the dollar since Sept. 25. The naira weakened 0.9 percent this month as Brent crude fell to the lowest level in more than four years last week. Further losses would force Nigeria to choose between raising interest rates, eroding reserves or, eventually, devaluing the currency, according to Exotix Ltd., a London-based investment bank. The Federal Reserve is ending a program this month of asset-buying that drove investors to buy stocks, bonds and currencies in developing nations. Dollar Demand The naira declined 0.4 percent to 165.75 against the dollar as of 12 p.m in Lagos. A close at this level will be lowest on record. The currency yesterday weakened as much as 0.4 percent to 166.07 before rebounding. At auctions, the central bank offers the currency at 155 per dollar, plus or minus 3 percent. “We expect that investors will demand more dollars,” Alade said. “Our foreign-exchange reserves are still robust.” Nigeria’s reserves were $39.2 billion as of Oct. 21 from $43.6 billion at the end of last year. Extrapolating from the 2011 elections (i.e Jonathan losing SW support and Buhari gaining massive SW support, and NE despising GEJ, SE firmly GEJ, SS GEJ but Edo and Rivers boosting APC support) 1. Turnout figures from the SE and SS will be rejected! It is a blatant lie to say that turnout in those places will be 20% above the national average, while the SW is about 20% below the national average. We have states like ABIA with 78% turnout! That is ridiculous. Ogun had a 28% turnout. That is a difference of MILLIONS of votes. NO WHERE in the world do you ever get such results. EVEN more ridiculous is the %PDP votes. In some states you have 98%, 99.5% votes for PDP, with these states having ridiculously high turnout! The votes were rigged in the SS and SE surely! 2. Baring the above magomago, APC will get 25% or more in the following states Adamawa** Bauchi* Benue** Borno* Edo** Ekiti** FCT* Gombe* Jigawa* Kaduna* Kano* Katsina* Kebbi** Kogi* Kwara* Lagos* Nassarawa** Niger* Ogun* Osun* Oyo* Ondo** Plateau** Rivers** Sokoto* Taraba** Yobe* Zamfara* * for states APC will win ** for states APC will have to work hard to win, but will get 25% of the votes. That is 28 states! I still think it will come down to vote counts, which is more reason I fear the abracadabra of SE and SS turnout in 2011. |
If you do that, then you will be the first to import North Korea to Nigeria. Look Seun, the only thing you shouldnt tolerate is kids ruining this forum by spamming it with needless threads. Once you try to gag 'insults', then you become dictatorial. What is an insult? The word 'clueless' for example is NOT an insult. It is rather an assessment of the capabilities (or lack of) of a person. What is insulting however, is for a president to say something like 'stealing is not corruption'. That is an insult to government, governance and the governed. Moreso, 'insulting' government officials did not start today. It started long before you were born. If a government official is to be a public servant, he should be liable to public abuse. I abused Abacha, OBJ, Tinubu, Jonathan, etc because of their position. If I meet OBJ at an airport today, I will first prostrate to greet him before raising issues with him. |
chukwudi44:Apart from the abracadabra in SS and SE election results, the rest are very easy to predict based on current political climate. Ondo state for example, I believe Buhari will easily get over 25% votes, same thing for Edo and Rivers. The 25% for Buhari this time around is more possible than 2011. |
chukwudi44:Between 2011 and today, Buhari's popularity has grown. In 2011, he had 25% and above in 19 states (6 short of the needed 25). If you combine ACN and CPC as one, then Buhari has 25% and over in 25 states (FCT included, Kogi rounded up). This is 2011 results. As things are today, Edo and Rivers states can give Buhari 25% or more. So I think it will come down to total votes. |
PDP rigging machine will reduce turn out figures in states they will lose and increase turn out figures in states they win. A look at 2011 election showed that while 6 million voters registered in Lagos state alone, only 2m voted! But in SE states almost 80% of those who registered actually voted and their votes gave PDP a 90% margin. That is numerical fraud at a shameless level. In Kaduna for example, 3.9M voters registered and 2.6M voted (more than the whole of Lagos votes!). I think in 2015, we need to have an independent website to collate election results. The collation from SS and SE is a joke. See: http://nigeriaelections.org/presidential.php |
Considering that GEJ won last election by 20m votes, and has so far lost SW, I think Buhari's time is nigh. |
Opening match in Gwoza! |
Mogidi:One thing with GEJites (kegites more like) is that they are ever willing to lie, deceive, rig and any other vices. I need proof of Buhari going abroad for medical help. You can lie for Nigeria at the next olympics. |
A friend's facebook update just now: 2 mins · why will you invite me to like or support TAN because of GEJ reelection. you know yourself, please don't ever send any request to me again. as I dey like this ehn, na change I want. I no care who the person is but not #GEJ sha. as it is now #Buhari is still the alternative. thank you. GEJ doesnt know how bad he is. Throwing the treasury at TAN to coerce people will just make him more hated. 6 good years of failure, he still disrespects Nigerians by throwing crumbs of the stolen money at us. |
Poll closed just as GEJ surpassed GMB by 1%. Reno Omokri. - 2 minutes ago to be fair, GMB won the poll.... I am only manipulating the result to please Jonathan.. I don't want to lose my job. As you can see, the pool increase every 10seconds to favour of jonathan. multiple voting is also allowed. I have voted for jonathan like 10,000 times. but the true poll shows that Buhari will win |
A simple f5 of the page will show the senseless astronomical rigging by using multiple IP addresses. At one point it was 60 GEJ votes per second. Wendel Simlin is a clown per excellence |
I understand how you feel, but you made many assumptions. 1. The incoming government will be much much stronger than the current government. It is PDP that allows thugs like MEND to have the chance. A tough government will stamp out such groups as soon as they form. 2. if the government performs, there will be no distrust, so no war, ethnoreligious conflicts or such 3. All that GDP bla bla bla will not be that way if we have a ballsy president like Buhari. |
vedd:I will start with 1000 GMB Tshirts to be distributed in SE and SS. Let people first feel comfy wearing shirts bearing GMB name. |
berem:A similar story: I was on a bus within UI campus early this year. One elderly couple from SE were discussing GEJ's failure amongst themselves. They were quite clear that GEJ was a scam, though the wife still had this 'awusa want to bring him down' mentality You will need sensitisation materials like flyers, picture evidence, etc |
DONLEKAN:Very very important. I was just checking past PDP results and it seems they are similar. 24 million votes just seem to be computed from somewhere (still remember the above 90% turnout in SE and SS last time). |
Adekamkpe23:I will be helping them better by supporting a government that will better their lives. |
