Ok people. Next event on the track is womens 100m final. Send in your predictions. A little patriotism allowed For me: 1. Blessing Okagbare 10.72s 2. Shelly Ann Frayser-Pryse 10.73s 3. Carmelita Jeter 10.92s |
HAH: Montsho and ohuorogu are given same time of 49.41. Ohuruogu got with because of her dip finish, to me is not fairIts fair my brother. Why didnt Montsho lean? what on earth was she thinking? |
For the next 30 minutes, I expect BBC to go into overdrive. |
Its a lie! Montsho didnt even dip |
adaobi123: Ohuruogu to winI wish..but Amantle is too gallant. |
Ohuruogu, our daughter from Umudike. I place her in silver position. Amantle Montsho is too far ahead. |
Lane draw for the final of the women's 100m is out. As expected, SAFP is playing mind games by avoiding Okagbare. Okagbare is in lane 7 while SAFP is in lane 4. This means Blessing will have to go all out! Run her own race like she did in Monaco, and not dip early. The time is near...1hr 20 mins more. |
adaobi123: Hian !!Not that they know much about female sprinters. |
I'm not comfy with Blessing's semi. Also it looks like Asumnu had a niggle on her muscle. I only pray she gets well before relays. Blessing has conserved energy so much for this final! I pray she gets a good start in the final and smash the African record again to win gold. |
Job done. Na for final the fight dey.. |
Eager to see what English Gardner has left in the tank. She ran an eye-bulging heat. 100m women after these hurdles. |
Let the countdown begin! |
Interesting behavior from Ajoke Odumosu. I feel she's got an issue with AFN or something similar. Its not looking good for our relay team in 4x400 if Ajoke doesnt want to be there. Meanwhile....this afternoon, everybody gonna die on the line today. Blessing must take gold ooo. |
HAH: N400 a day that is less than $3
|
Day 2...fair for Nigeria. 2 women miss out on final appearance after running very well. Nigeria win a silver medal (first since 1999). Tomorrow, another chance of a medal. Blessing Okagbare AGAIN in 100m. Ajoke Odumosu and Ugonna Ndu go in the 400m hurdles. Good luck Nigeria. See you tomorrow afternoon (4.30pm) for the updates on the 100m women. Can Blessing Okagbare turn Silver to Gold? She's favoured silver going into the 100m final. She can do it. We see tomorrow. Meanwhile, as I was updating you guys today, another Nigerian sportswoman just messaged me to say she's switching to represent UAE after being treated shabbily. She was given 400 naira a day in camping! That is ridiculous. Nigeria loses another potential olympic medalist. |
BOlt is looking beatable. |
what has happen to inter house sports in naija schools ? do they still exist at all.
2 things: Football and Lack of infrastructures. Without sounding too boastful, I think at least 2 members of the super eagles can run faster than our fastest 100m. That is why the female are producing talents in athletics unlike the men. We still have abundant talents. Lara Omotosho, Divine Oduduru, Seye Ogunlewe, Tobi Ashamu, etc are names that will come through in the coming years. Also Stephanie Kalu, Kemi Adekoya. Lets hope Blessing's medal can make Nigerians open eye to long jump again. It fetched us our first olympic gold. |
Meanwhile, Blessing Okagbare has just done Nigeria proud in Moscow. She deserves front page! |
Afam4eva: Silver is not bad. Congrats blessing...Blessing is very much home talent. She started out in Nigeria and only got a scholarship to study in America after she did well in triple jumps at national sports festival. Then she moved to Long jumps, then her coaches saw she was good at sprints too.. and today, we have a beautiful athlete who is good in jumps and sprints. There are still talents in Nigeria. Warri axis seems to be producing constantly. Lagos too. |
Gracious Okagbare. She tried her best. Luck was not on her side. She can win another medal tomorrow. Congrats Nigeria. |
SILVER! Congrats Nigeria. Blessing tried. Lost by 2cm.. |
Lara out..back to Blessing..Sure silver, Ble ble abeg make it gold! |
Omolara has zero chance here, but a PB will make me happy. |
Meanwhile, Regina George is OUT! Shame, but good run by her. Our relay 4x400 looks good. My babe lara omotosho up next in 400m |
Into the final round of the Long Jump... This is all about nerves now. Top 2 is set...no upset expected, so Nigeria has a medal almost surely. It is a silver, it can be gold if Blessing can push further. |
Reese jumps 6.95. Still the count back favours Blessing if she can jump 7.01 in the final round. Just 0.02m...2cm..so close |
One more chance for this Sapele girl...She's peaking! 6.99 is a sure silver. Can she get gold Prayer people... |
Blessing up next. Crowd urging her on...6.99m!!! Oh my goodness. Sooooo close |
Regina came 3rd. Brilliant run. I think she has just PB. Yes. 50.84s, She might just go through |
Regina George in this. This will be tough! Anything below 50.99 is good for Regina. Good luck to her. |
Reese no jump! Seriously all Blessing needs is a 7.01m and we will get gold. Blessing abeg now. No fall my hand |
Blessing jumps 6.80. Now getting closer to top form. 2 more chances! Still in 2nd place. Lets hope Reese doesnt go crazy and jump 7.20. |
