Jakumo: Night-vision gear costs a bushel basket-full of dollars. A Generation 4 night-vision rifle sight will set you back well over 7 thousand dollars USD, or one million naira EACH.Good point, but I do not think we need up to Gen 4. Gen III will do and I saw those for about 300 dollars or so. I am sure Nigerians can raise 600k dollars for that. A bulk order of http://www.binoculars.com/night-vision/night-vision-goggles/yukonviking1x24nightvisiongogglekit.cfm should cost about 300 dollars. Painfully, that is chicken change to most politicians. Sad how unbalanced Nigeria really is. |
SiriusBlack: Night patrols in the N.E....Most dangerous missions on the frontlines.Without sounding patronising, can we (ordinary Nigerians) contribute money to buy our army Night vision equipments? It is suicidal to go out like this in the night. Boko Haram will be picking them one by one. |

Gaza will one day be liberated. Gaza has as much right to defend itself as Israel has (if not more right). It is inevitable that the inequality cannot last forever. |
A report on the Telegraph today, though contains many faulty assumptions, published a graphic evidence of why the state of emergency has failed. It is also a damning indictment on the GEJ administration to see a graphical representation of the increase in death between 2010 and 2014. For the full report: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/africaandindianocean/nigeria/10947211/Missing-Nigerian-girls-whatever-happened-to-Bringbackourgirls.html

Sincerely speaking, I cannot imagine a Buhari, OBJ, IBB or even Gowon in power and this lunatic will be mocking them like this. GEJ own don finish for the hand of Shekau. #bringbackourarmy!!! |
well that video is a scam! Funny but not real. |
activatenigeria: To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, what discussions (a) he and (b) other Ministers in his Department have had with leading members of the Nigerian opposition party, the All Progressive Congress; and if he will make a statement. So how does this link APC with Boko Haram?? If you do not know how the British parliament works, its better you google it. The MP asked about any meetings betwing Hague and APC, asked about Boko Haram and any help Nigeria may get regarding BH. In case you do not know, UK is proactive and may only be trying to align with APC knowing that PDP will be swept away soon. |
I was admitted to OAU about 3/4 years after the incidence. One night during the orientation week, one of the 1999 SUG exco spoke about the incidence. I do not remember all he said, but I remember leaving the common room in Angola with my blood charged. He spoke about how OAU students went to other parts of Nigeria to hunt down cultists...with no weapons. I remember wanting to meet any cultist at that moment and deal with them. If you hear the real story of 'Afrika', you will abhor cultists. I think it will take years, or decades for Cultism to gain ground in OAU again. |
safe to say the topic about APETE has been relegated to the background by some childish members of this forum. My say: Äjimöbi needs to do more. This pedestrian bridge is just a soothener, not the main deal. September must remain September to complete the main bridge. |
2015 will be an election of conscience, as much as PDP have tried, they have failed in playing the religion card. Already, most people (even here on nairaland) see the PDP religious bandwagon as mad people, and thus do not respond to them. For 6 years, GEJ failed to do anything tangible to curtail Boko Haram. He still doesnt have a clue on how to deal with it. I wonder how the clue will come with another 4 year mandate.Flogging a dead horse... |
Some Nigerians are funny sha. Here is a governor providing tablet to students and he is being castigated. These same funny Nigerians are the ones that sing and dance when other governors provide grinding machine, wheelbarrow and okada as poverty alleviation initiatives. Osun state has had PDP and ACN governments. The difference is very clear. |
With political parties like PDP still in power ? Poor countries and rich leaders will be bokuous |
If he represents Nigeria, and they ask him to get a letter from the Foreign Affairs Ministry, that is where his competition will start. He will need to pass exam with the gateman at the ministry, the secretary to the person who has the form, the person who has the form, the secretary to the boss who will sign the form, the boss who signs the form, the secretary to the person who will stamp the form, and the person who will stamp the form. If one has an option to bypass these initial harder tests, one should! |
IF the operation went as reported, then well done to the soldiers for the tactical operational success. |
AYO57: I did the editing dude! if not YouTube would have taken down the video.!! Think before making a critical comment.I watched the video too and in no way is it near what is described. If you have the full video, paste it. If I was a boss of this policeman, this video will only get him a subtle warning. Your story has no evidence. |
PDP sin: Insecurity. I should however point out that insecurity was relatively low pre-GEJ. When GEJ came in BH was still a rag tag bunch of miscreants. Insensitivity, non-chalant blame game boosted BH and they became an international terrorist org. Another 4 years under GEJ, and BH will be in every state of Nigeria. Simple extrapolation. |
leofab: you see yourself, "his ability to choose a better successor"? Is Lagos state his personal enterprise?OBJ chose Yaradua. Is Nigeria his personal entreprise? Choosing or anointing your successor is something most if not all politicians do. |
Oshodi was cleaned up jan 2009 under fashola not tinubu. Pls correct me if am wrong. Also some APC states struggle to pay workers salaries, Osun is presently still owing their workers. Also correct me if am wrong. Tinubu as best governor is your opinion and not that of all Nigerians. As per him hand-picking a successor, that's simply undemocratic. Its a perversion of democracy. Progressives should not tow the line of PDP(fake democrats), it leaves the electorates confused on whom to choose as both parties act in the same way and contain members who cross-carpet at the sound of a fart
You are so wrong! I will modify this post with pictures and links as evidence. Tinubu's achievements will also be listed. I see you prefer a democratic process that picks an Akala over a hand-picking process that picks a Fashola. Meanwhile, check out this website for a comprehensive list of Tinubu's achievements while in government. Then compare to PDP or any other governor since 1999. http://asiwajubolatinubu.com/projects/index.html |
Suddenly after Ekiti elections, PDP claiming to be saints and trying to demonise Tinubu. Some even dare to question Tinubu's performance as a governor in Lagos, saying he didnt do anything. If you know Oshodi in 1998, and Oshodi in 2003, then you will never talk trash of Tinubu. I wont even go into the years of witheld allocations, yet he ran the state. These days, we have states governed by PDP with monthly allocations pumped in regularly, yet they struggle to pay workers salaries. Tinubu sure has his flaws, but I am yet to see a PDP governor (present or ex) who has performed up to Tinubu's level....and the ability to choose a better successor is the halmark of a great leader. If OBJ didnt make a mistake with Yaradua or GEJ, we wont be where we are now. |
I personally will be happy for Buhari to bring a law in to allow death penalty for corrupt public office holders. By the time we hang Bode George, Anenih, Akala, Gbenga Daniel, Alams, and the rest of them, Nigerian youths can start to get brighter hopes for future. Also include some lecturers, doctors, nurses, secretaries on life imprisonment. |
Does kissing one's wife invalidate a fast? Under the intimacy category? |
In Apete, Ido LGA of Oyo State, average of 1 hr per day. That one hour can be spread across 10 'up Nepas'. Sometimes, the only way you know there's been light is when you look up and see the ceiling fan rolling gingerly. However, when it is 3 days to the end of the month, we start getting light for up to 4 hrs, 5hrs a day. I am talking of midnight oo. So sometimes, you wake up at 2am to quickly charge phones, iron clothes, pump water etc. As soon as people pay their monthly bills, back to 1hr per day. |
That source is a page to be avoided like plague. They concort so many lies and put it on that hopefornigeria fb page. |
Its a kamikazee world now. Quality of education is really low, yet the system is designed to 'let my people go'. |
That tackle changed the match. That was tactical genius by the French. |
bestman09: @ola_Pluto, is this bridge you posted the picture actually completed and ready for use as you claimed?Dig up where I ever claimed the bridge was completed or ready to use. smartchoice: Ask the murderer playing politics with human life.....I will not take issues with you. I am fasting. I actually only posted a comment on this thread to counter your claims about having it better during Akala regime. I lived in Apete for over a decade. Akala did ZERO projects in Apete. Ajimobi has opened up Apete with the Ajibode/Arola/Apete road, leading ot Ojoo, UI, etc. The road linking Apete with Ijokodo/Poly is also part of the bridge project and it is dragging as well. I believe this unfortunate incidence will hasten things up. I do not know what you get by cursing and calling people names. If trully your objective is for the people, you will state your case rather than go political about it. |
smartchoice: Now you're annoying me with this false information... Why why are you not human? Must your entire household perish before you say the truth... May God judge you according to what you have posted here, may he reward you accordingly and abundantly... May the blood of the helpless, innocent and the poor who lost their lives due to this callousness never stop crying on the head of the falsehood peddlers on this thread!I dont need to curse you. I'm fasting. I have provided the link for you to see. My house is in Apete, I know the state of the roads. The construction is slow, very slow, but you cannot say the bridge is not there. The wooden bridge that got submerged was only made to ease pedestrian access to Apete for those who could not go via Ajibode. Over time, a market developed around the wooden bridge, with beggars standing on the bridge all day. The main bridge being constructed is about 20m away from the wooden bridge. I do not know what point you're trying to drive home, but you are not saying anything other than to blame. What do you know about the bridge? Have you seen the newly constructed bridge? See the attached pix from tribune and join 1 and 2

Apete Bridge for completion September —Oyo govt The Oyo State government said that the Apete Bridge currently undergoing reconstruction will be completed by the end of September this year. The state Commissioner for Works, Mr Bimbo Kolade made this disclosure at the weekend while addressing newsmen shortly after an inspection visit to some roads and bridges being constructed by the state government within the Ibadan metropolis. The commissioner, while urging the people of the state, particularly those directly affected by the project, to exercise patience with government, explained that the delay in the completion of the 45-metre bridge was to give room for solidification and laying of precast concrete materials used for the project. He said that government had instructed the contractor handling the project to expand the water channels to allow for easy flow of water. The Commissioner said that the Governor Abiola Ajimobi-administration would not leave any of the project it initiated uncompleted. “The apprehension of the people that government has abandoned the bridge and that rain has washed away the bridge is not true. We are here and you can see it yourselves that the structure work is seriously in progress on the project. “The assurance that I will give to the people is that the work is going on; a period of waiting must be observed, otherwise things will fail along the line. Our people should be patient with government,” Kolade said. The Project Manager for the Toll Gate Interchange-Efunsetan Junction Road in Ibadan, Mr Michael Muir said if the road was properly maintained after completion, it would last over 20 years, while the Principal Resident Engineer, Mr Tajudeen Akanbi expressed confidence of the durability of the road. smartchoice: This is false information.... Fear God oh!Look, I have a house in Apete. If you have contrary info, put it here. The bridge is there, but not ready to use. The contractor had been very slow on the project. However, he got a September ultimatum, and the government has fixed september to commision the road. Dont try use a tragedy to play politics here. Is it not the same Ajimobi that constructed Ajibode/Apete road as an alternative for the bridge being constructed? I personally wish Accord party takes over from Ajimobi, but lets be clear with things here. |
smartchoice: I read with immense trepidation that the infamous Apete bridge has not been constructed by the acclaimed peoples government of APC in Oyo State.... Leading to another loss of several lives yet this insensitive govt could spend billions on mokola flyover! What's wrong with APC governments we have never had it so bad even under PDP! Haba kilode?Actually, the bridge has been constructed, and was billed for opening in September. However, what went wrong was that the wooden make-shift bridge which pedestrians use to cross the river gave way. As someone who has walked on the wooden bridge many times, it was clear to me that the bridge was weak. But for you to now start claiming PDP is better is a shame. AKala received much more than Ajimobi did from the FG. Akala NEVER built a road or bridge in Apete. On this one, you have goofed. |
