Do you think Anam IMO will hold on to that Right wing back position ahead of Alice Ogebe??
Because Alice Ogebe performance at the WAFU Cup was top notch
Actually I prefer Alice over Anam. However looking at club forms I will actually play Okobi in that position and play Ajibade in the attacking midfield position. Okobi plays like that for her club and Ajibade is a better attacking midfielder for now.

This was the coach last formation against Canada.....3-5-2
With the presence of Ordega and Oshoala now...!
How will the formation look likehuh?
And as for Uchenna Kanu what will be the coaches options about her...huh
Actually this is more like what we will see in France. Except Oshoala for Kanu and Anam Imo keeps her place. Ordega will probably be a sub.
Uchenna Kanu is a good sub too. I wish the team could play a good friendly few days to the start so the can test their tactics.

What just happened is the reason we must diversify our security chiefs. What is apparent to a neutral Idoma commander may not be visible to plenty Kanuri generals.
The garrison commander knows what he's doing.

PDPGuy:
Guys, do you all really think the 3-4-3 system would work against the bigger teams at the World Cup?
I think it all comes down to how well drilled the team is. The coach seems adamant and confident in that formation, and if he drills them well, it should work. I think it is more like a 3-5-2 when we are not in possession and a 3-2-5 when we are going forward. This should give the team defensive stability and a lot of attacking options.
What concerns me though, is that since Dennerby started, we have not been know to create as many chances as we used to create. Although we have a lethal attack line, the problem has always been getting the ball to them. Okobi has dropped in form, and it is expected because at her club, she sometimes plays as a right back, or wing back in a 3-5-3. I hope she rediscovers herself this intensive camping. Otherwise, Ajibade should take her place. The teams we face in group stages wont park the bus, so we stand a chance.

My own is that Barcelona played 2 finals and she started on the bench for both. She did not go there to be a squad player, she should be the main woman on that team and if they can't give her that my advice is that she returns to China or goes to Lyon so we can at least say that it is a world class player keeping her on the bench.
Women football is still like a cult. Look at Toni Duggan who played nothing for 70 minutes starting ahead of Oshoala. The good thing for her is that the world has seen her now.

Its a no brainer. If Barca let her go, I'm very sure European giants will snap her up really quickly.

Rough timetable of the Super Falcons over coming weeks:
May 19th- Team fly back to Nigeria from Abidjan. Home based players decamped except 8 players. Tochukwu Oluehi to join them?
May 20th - 9 players and technical crew fly out to Austria for camping.
May 21st - Foreign based players all expected in camp. Camping for 2 weeks intensive. From what I understand, very little physical work, but plenty tactical as team performance coach has been monitoring each players week in week out.
June 4th - Players depart Austria for France
June 8th - First match vs Norway

BTW...good news, no injuries.

Incredible for Nigeria to equalise with the last kick of the match. Hopefully the girls gain plenty confidence from that.
Good weekend for Nigerian football. Oshoala scored on big stage, our girls win WAFU.
Up next, camp in Austria

This coach is funny o. You're losing 1-0 in the final and you can only bring on a defender for a striker.

lol @ Barca's coach. Oshoala scored in 5 minutes of coming in, now his useless tactics will be the question.
Even the commentators were saying the same. Oshoala didnt respect the Lyon defenders.
As a Nigerian, it is good to see that as we play France in less than a month time.

Oshoala gets her goal. Scoring in Champions League final. She was the best player on the pitch since coming on. She shone and Im happy for her.

Its now 4-0. Imagine what will happen if Oshoala comes in and scores 3 instant goals. She will rewrite her history then. .
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by olapluto(m): 5:23pm On May 18, 2019
Barca have already shipped 3 goals so that match is over. Oshoala can come in to rewrite the story, or at least lets see how she performs against top defenders like we will face in France.
Toni Duggan is a waste of space and Oshoala is much much better.

On Saturday, at 5.30pm, star girl Asisat Oshoala will play in the UEFA Champions league final. I think she's the top performing Nigerian footballer (male or female).
I pray she scores and her team wins. Then the world will respect her again.

Ok thanks. She has been top drawer at that right back position. She might have like 10 assists
She's actually a winger. She's just one of the handiwork of the coach. Same thing he's doing with Anam Imo, converting wingers to right back. Defensively solid and attacking potential.

NFF COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT

France 2019: Dennerby lists Ebi, Oparanozie, 25 others for World Cup final camp

Defensive bulwark Onome Ebi, midfield lubricator Ngozi Okobi and power forward Desire Oparanozie top the list of 27 players that Super Falcons’ Head Coach Thomas Dennerby has listed for the final camp in Austria ahead of the 8th FIFA Women’s World Cup finals taking place in France 7th June – 7th July 2019.

Goalkeeper Tochukwu Oluehi, defenders Josephine Chukwunonye, Osinachi Ohale and Ngozi Ebere, midfielders Rita Chikwelu and Halimatu Ayinde and forwards Asisat Oshoala and Francisca Ordega, who all played key roles in the Super Falcons’ ninth continental triumph in Ghana late last year, are also included.

Dennerby has also picked Uchenna Kanu, who has shown tremendous firepower at the ongoing WAFU Women’s Cup in Abidjan with eight goals in two matches, as well as home –based professionals Amarachi Okoronkwo, Evelyn Nwabuoku, Chidinma Okeke and Chiamaka Nnadozie.

Nigeria’s final list of 23 players for the 8th FIFA Women’s World Cup finals will emerge from this group of 27, with four players to be cut towards the end of the two-week camping in Austria.

NFF’s Head of Women Football, Ruth David told thenff.com on Monday that the African champions will depart from Abuja for Austria on Monday, 20th May for the Avita Resort in Bad Tatzmannsdorf – the same facility where the Super Eagles had their final camping programme just before the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

The Super Falcons will depart from Austria on 4th June direct to Reims, where they open their World Cup campaign against Norway on 8th June.

27 SUPER FALCONS FOR WORLD CUP FINAL CAMP

Goalkeepers: Tochukwu Oluehi (Rivers Angels); Alaba Jonathan (Bayelsa Queens); Chiamaka Nnadozie (Rivers Angels); Christy Ohiaeriaku (Confluence Queens)

Defenders: Osinachi Ohale (Vaxjo DFF, Sweden); Ngozi Ebere (Arna Bjornar, Norway); Onome Ebi (Henan Huisanhang, China); Josephine Chukwunonye (Kungsbacka DFF, Sweden); Faith Michael (Pitea IF, Sweden); Chidinma Okeke (FC Robo)

Midfielders: Cecilia Nku (Ferencvaros Torna, Hungary); Rita Chikwelu (Krstianstand DFF, Sweden); Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene (Eskiltuna United, Sweden); Evelyn Nwabuoku (Rivers Angels); Ogonna Chukwudi (Djurgardens IF, Sweden); Halimatu Ayinde (Eskiltuna United, Sweden); Amarachi Okoronkwo (Nasarawa Amazons)

Forwards: Desire Oparanozie (En Avant Guingamp, France); Anam Imo (Malmo FC Rosengard, Sweden); Asisat Oshoala (FC Barcelona, Spain); Chinaza Uchendu (SC Braga, Portugal); Uchenna Kanu (Southeastern University, USA); Rasheedat Ajibade (Alvadsnes IL, Norway); Francisca Ordega (Shanghai W. FC); Ini-Abasi Umotong (Brighton Hove & Albion, England); Alice Ogebe (Rivers Angels)
Worst time to release this list. Why will the players put extra effort in WAFU cup if they know they're not even in the list?
So Courney Dike isnt good enough? Maybe not fit enough.
The coach has kept his words though. He picked 8 of the WAFU player. Now he will drop 4 and I think it will be 3 attackers and 1 goalie. (Uchendu, Umotong and Ogebe) might drop out.
I met Ogbonna Chukwudi sometime last month in Stockholm and she wasnt in top shape. I fear she might drop out too.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by olapluto(m): 11:30pm On May 11, 2019
WAFU ends next Saturday. I hope the girls move directly into closed camping for the world cup. As the coach has said he will pick about 9 of these home based stars, I am pleased. For me, he should pick, 2 goalies (Nnadozie and Alaba), Chidinma Okeke, Nwabuoku, Bokiri, Uche Kanu, Igbinovia, Saheed, and Ogebe Alice. They've been stand outs.
I am also very impressed that a Nigerian team is so tactically drilled that you could almost use a ruler to draw the formation line.

naijaseeker:
I think the coach is doing great for a couple of reasons. He is developing a team that can take over from the Super Falcons. I do not mean a Falconets because we always had that but really picking young talents. Secondly this team is actually good enough to play at the world cup. They are hungrier, they need to prove themselves or reassert themselves. Nwabuku, Esther Sunday and Igbinovia have all maintained steady shirts at the higher level even before Oshoala and Ordega. Talents are discovered as the old ones fade unfortunately, most Nigerian coaches are scared to try anything new, you cannot blame them, the NFF are not so respectful to them. Believe me, Oshoala entered the senior team not because she was good but because of her emphatic delivery at 2014. Uchenna Kalu has always played for under 17 and under 20, why haven't they given her a tryout for the senior team? Confidence.

This team play more like a team and I understand the coach. Individually the main team probably (probably) has more talent and experience, but team against team in cohesion, this team will beat them. This team would have played better against Cameroon and would have beaten the SA regulation time.
Actually you're correct in the coach improving the team. When he came, he was trying to find his feet and bearing, and the AWCON came too soon. He had to draw up an Excel list of all our players he knew and the potential ones. Now he is giving them opportunity to prove themselves.
This team though cannot beat the senior team, but they will drag them. This is because the coach has worked with them for longer. You can see the pattern and discipline clearly.
Ologbosere for example, is a good defender but indisciplined. Today, her touches and positioning were tidy. See how the coach eased out the likes of Jegede and co and brought in younger players. With this action, I can say we will win the next 3 AWCONs with good players coming through. Chidinma Okeke was a solid defender!

This type of match is not good for a coach to judge his players, but the fact that Adebisi Saheed played 90 minutes is encouraging. She was good. Also, I am really happy for Uchenna Kanu as she bids to be the topscorer in the tournament.
