PoliticsRe: Nigerian Pilots Use Gsm Phones To Contact Control Tower by oldie(m): 11:49pm On Apr 01, 2008
The anonymous pilot is either being mischievious or he is plain stupid
Black spots on Ground-to-Air communications system?
And yet he can use his gsm phone which is terrestrial?
Does this communications blackout only happen to Nigerian Pilots?

I do not dispute the fact that there are problems in the aviation industry
But nobody should start maufacturing imaginary problems
Let him take his personal battle somewhere
He is just a scare monger
PoliticsRe: Power Scam Probe: Give Me Agagu And He Will Not Walk Out Free - Pat Utomi by oldie(m): 11:30pm On Apr 01, 2008
Looks like everybody is being deceived by this circus called Public Hearing
At the end of the day nothing will come out of the probe
The "probers" do not have genuine intentions, they have their own hidden agenda
Sooner or later, we will all discover that the Public Hearing itself is a scam!

Nokia, manufacturing super-premium phones.
With prices starting at around £4,000 Vertu phones are only for the rich and famous.
http://mobile.softpedia.com/phones/Vertu/index-0.shtml

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6cXiiX2zNk

However, Vertu’s monopoly of the luxury phone market is coming to an end
with the launch of several new luxury mobile makers, including Gresso, Mobiado and GoldVish.
Other mobile phone manufacturers are also partnering with luxury brands to produce a range of
premium mobile phones, such as LG and Prada, D&G and Motorola, and now Tag Heuer and Modelabs.
Finally, there are the ridiculous, super-expensive one-offs, made purely for headline grabbing,
such as Goldvish’s “Le million”, worth $1,000,000!
PoliticsRe: The Most Intelligent Race by oldie(m): 8:37pm On Mar 27, 2008
All races have their share of intelligent people
Intelligence can't be described with a single word or properly measured by mathematical IQ tests

My own concept of intelligence would be:

Wisdom
Knowledge
Insight
Intuition
Creativity
Common sense
Wit

There are intelligent hunters, fishermen, kidnappers, scientists, teachers etc
The environment has a lot to do with relative intelligence

In the wrong environment, an otherwise intelligent person could be termed a retard

So Obama should be held responsible for all anti-american statements made by all black men that support him?
As far as I am concerned, Obama has not made any anti-american statements
He has been all about changing America to stop thinking this way, and make the country a success for all, whatever colour or gender.

I thought American politics is about issues?
And what happens to the over-hyped American first amendment?
The rev. has the right to his own opinions.
Obama should not be blamed for another man's opinion.
PoliticsRe: Should China Olympics Be Boycotted? by oldie(m): 4:50pm On Mar 24, 2008
@ shashxxl

If you had been very methodical in your argument, may be I would have been able to respond to you properly.
I am a Nigerian, Can you please tell me what benefits we (Nigeria and Nigerians) will derive from boycotting the Olympics?

If you already had a mindset, why bother post at all?
PoliticsRe: Should China Olympics Be Boycotted? by oldie(m): 1:16pm On Mar 24, 2008
How many people remember what countries boycotted 1976 and 1980 Olympics?
How many people even remember why they were boycotted?
We should not be sucked into these American wars

Nigeria and Nigerians will not gain anything from the boycott!
Foreign AffairsRe: The Iraq War Is Now 5 Years Old! by oldie(m): 12:51pm On Mar 24, 2008
The solutions would be, what the Iraqis want:
1. All US troops withdrawn
2. No NATO/UN peace keepers
3. A strong home-grown government
4. Reduce the militias
5. Reconstruction of infra structure

Solutions have to come from within

PoliticsRe: Public Inquiry On Power Sitting In Abuja by oldie(m): 4:14pm On Mar 18, 2008
I have read all the comments here
I have also listened to the Public Hearing
My conclusion is that, there are many Nigerians who take
advantage of the loopholes in the system, rather than
doing a good job.

And sadly, these very brilliant Nigerians are in the fore of running
our Power Sector!

Who are the scare mongers huh

Radiation is still radiation whether in large amount or minute doses of exposure. It will result in bioaccumulation in the human system and long term exposure to such leaves with you. . . . .

Are you saying there are no Nigerians that hold as much as five mobile phones all at the same time?
Bioaccumulation from mobile phone transmission? No sir
Signals from these phones are not toxic

Nobody has proved positively, that using mobile phones has any ill effect on humans.
If there are contrary views, link me to the source(s)
PhonesRe: What Do You Do With Your Old Phone? by oldie(m): 7:51pm On Mar 14, 2008
pahtahkee:
However, mobile phones are electronic devices you use on a daily basis. They are electromagnetic devices, and emit certain level of radiation harmful to human health. You carry it on you all the time. Some individuals carry as much as three mobile phones at the same time, imagine the triple amount of exposure to radiation such an individual recieves.
You can only use one phone at a time, even if you carried ten at the same time
Emission/Radiation does not occur until you start using the phone

Radiation from these phones are very small
Dont allow the scare mongers to frighten you

Changing phones is like changing cars

1. New and better capabilities
2. Ego - "My phone is better than yours mentality"
3. The old one is un-usable

What do I do with the old ones?
They are archived

Mobile phones are health hazards?
This is a myth. Never proven
You are likely to have radiation problems with your microwave ovens, the sun and power transmission lines!
Anyway the new phones are more sensitive and transmit less power than the pre-2005 phones!
PoliticsRe: What Is The Main Source Of Nigeria's Power Supply by oldie(m): 12:07pm On Mar 14, 2008
Hydro, Coal and Gas
Nuclear is in the pipeline
For now, Solar is not a viable option because coal and gas are cheaper alternatives
and they are abundantly available locally

PoliticsRe: Electric Power Supply Sector In Nigeria Should Be Privatized. by oldie(m): 7:43pm On Mar 13, 2008
Agree the only way to go is to privatise NEPA
But we need to find out the root cause of why NEPA has never worked, despite
the huge sum of money invested.

The president, is doing the right thing by hopefully trying to understand what the problems are
But there are too many thiefs in the system that will make genuine solutions very difficult, but
not impossible if the president is determined

The actual money released to NEPA since 1999 is $4.8bn as confirmed by the CBN and AGF
The $16bn beign branded all over the place is to create confusion by the clique
who benefits from this type of confusion and sensation

The president should start by identifying and dismantling this powerful clique
PhonesRe: Starcomms Evdo, Visafone Evdo Or Glo 3gplus, Which One Is Better? by oldie(m): 11:03pm On Mar 07, 2008
I will advise you go for the Visafone EVDO.
Especially the Platinum or the Gold
Speed is good and less congestion for now, unlike the Starcomm EVDO

The Glo 3G+ works on 3G mobile platform which still has limited coverage
When you use the Glo 3G+ in a 2.5G areas, your internet speed reduces

The fact that your equipment has the capability of connecting at 3.6mb/s does not mean that you are
provisioned for that speed. It is much lower than that.
In addition, Glo 3G+ allows for free access to the internet up to 3 GB, thereafter you will be billed at 35kobo/KB)

None of you have been able to dispute the facts.

All the highlighted above are known facts. The West and The East controls everything. You guys are parasities.

You say them chop Government money, no be your southerner brothers teach them how to carry money to Swiss accounts. angry
No, it is not because he is a Northerner
It is because he is ignorant, condescending and a revisionist

And why didnt they use some of the "Swiss" money to develop the North?

PoliticsRe: Unity Bank CEO Says The South Controls Nigeria's Economy by oldie(m): 3:18pm On Mar 06, 2008
The reasons given by the Unity Bank MD are the real
reasons why we will not grow economically
There is no need to coerce the South South

The North and the South South have different reasons - cultural and historical for the lack of developments in those regions

Questions:
• How many presidents have we had from the North since independence?
• Who was in charge of Privatization?
• What happened to the Bank of the North?
• What is he doing to improve the status of the Unity bank (another name for bank of the North)
• What are the Northerners doing to change the economical structure?

The mindset of Northerners like Bello and his type will not allow NEPA to be unbundled
because of the fear of economical explosion in the south

He should blame his own people for underdevelopment in the North
instead of using other people as scapegoats and trying to
recruit the South South and whipping up sectional sentiments!
