Sony has filed a patent application for a cutting edge SmartWig which allows users to wear a computer in their hair.

The device could be worn over natural hair and would process data, communicate with other devices, navigate roads and collect medical information.

The company hopes its invention will lead the way for the ever growing wearable technology sector.

Andrew Milroy, an analyst with consulting firm Frost & Sullivan, told the BBC: "Wearable gadgets are definitely going to be one of the big areas of growth over the next two years."

He added: "And Sony - which is trying to regain some of the sheen it has lost in recent years - clearly understands that and wants to play a major role in the sector."

Sony said in its application the wig could be made from horse hair, human hair, wool, feathers, yak hair, buffalo hair, or any synthetic material.

The sensors would be almost completely hidden by the hair to make it look more natural and increase user comfort.

And the firm hopes the wig would help blind people navigate roads, with a small camera or sensor recording the user's position.

A remote user would then use the images provided and send vibration commands through the network to direct the user manually.

Sony said in its application: "Although navigation systems based on vibration motors have been widely introduced, a navigation system integrated into a wig... is so far not known."

Sensors would also help collect information such as temperature, pulse and blood pressure of the wearer.

And it may be used during presentations, with the user being able to "move to the next presentation slide or back to the preceding presentation slide by simply raising his/her eyebrows."

Sony told the BBC it hasn't made any plans for commercial production of the SmartWig yet.

Donnie Fritts underwent surgery which left him with a gaping hole in his face - but his wife Sharon will stand by her man.

When Donnie developed an aggressive form of cancer on his face he was confronted with a choice: his face or his life.

He decided to have an operation that would remove the ultra-rare cancer - called ameloblastic carcinoma – along with much of his face.

The 12-hour surgery was a success but left Donnie, a former carpenter, with a gaping hole in the middle of his face.

He no longer had a nose, upper lip and palate and part of his forehead was missing.

There was some joy in 2011 as a top team of surgeons gave Donnie a prosthetic to make it look like he had a normal face.

But sadly their joy was short-lived as Donnie developed a life-threatening infection. He battled back to health but was forced to wait for a new prosthetic.

Sharon is determined to stand by the man she loves until a solution can be found.

"Donnie is an amazing man. He's so funny and has kept his sense of humor throughout," she said. "I still see the man I saw when we walked down the aisle.”

Donnie and Sharon’s story will feature in an episode of new series Body Bizarre which will air on TLC UK on Monday 25th November.

Great news, you no longer have to go to church to confess your sins. Thanks to pastor Joseph Djan, who also happens to work as a cab driver, the confessional has been moved from the church into a New York taxi.

The 52-year-old taxi driver and Evangelical pastor sees cab-driving as running a “church on wheels”. Why? “It allows me to meet a lot of people and sometimes interact with them and it gives me the flexibility to attend to (the) ministry when it’s needed,” Djan says. He has Christian hip-hop playing in his cab and he sometimes lets his passengers know that he is a minister. Usually, after finding out about him being a man of Faith, people open

up to him. This is what happened to one of his clients, a gay man who was afraid of coming out of the closet. “He heard my Christian hip-hop and while talking about it, it slipped out that I was a pastor. His mood changed instantly. He told me he wanted to tell me something that had never told anyone before”, the New York cabby says .

The client confessed that he was feeling guilty about not telling the truth about his homosexuality, but Djan comforted him. “I told him that we all keep secrets. We all have to come out of the closet in some way or another. He was so relieved.” After stepping out of the cab, the passenger also stepped out of the closet and lived his life without hiding who he was.

If the pastor has passengers who don’t share his religion nor his taste in music, he doesn’t have a problem with talking about something else and putting on whatever music makes their ride enjoyable. Djan seems to be quite open-minded and he actually believes that you don’t have to go to church to be religious. “I would prefer they go to church on Sunday,”he says. “But we can have church right in here!” He takes both his jobs very seriously by trying to help the people around him with whatever they need to live decent lives, whether that means offering them advice, food and shelter at the Holy Track Outreach Ministry in Crown Heights, or just giving them a ride in his cab.

Joseph Djan, originally from Ghana, arrived in the US in the ’90s. While studying at the Borough of Manhattan Community College, his life took a turn toward spirituality and he became a pastor.

Weird mode of protesting.

A Russian performance artist was hospitalised Sunday after stripping naked and nailing his testicles to a Red Square cobblestone in protest against the Kremlin's crackdown on political rights.

A video of the graphic action, available on Russian websites, showed artist Pyotr Pavlensky sitting naked outside Lenin's Mausoleum being covered with a blanket by police officers while horrified passersby looked on.

The state-run RIA Novosti news agency said Pavlensky was taken to a police station after being treated in a central Moscow clinic.
The Saint Petersburg-based artist said in a statement posted on the Grani.ru website that he was trying to draw attention to Russian society's inaction in the face of the development of a "police state".
Russia marked its annual Police Day holiday on Sunday.


It is not the first time the 29-year-old has resorted to eye-watering methods of protest.
He has previously sown his lips together to demonstrate against the jailing of two female members of the Pussy Riot punk band who staged an anti-Kremlin performance inside Moscow's main cathedral in 2011.
He was also arrested after wrapping his naked body in barbed wire outside a Saint Petersburg government building in May.
