Crime / 60-Year-Old Woman Buys & Sells Baby For N1 Million In USA by olillywales(m): 7:42pm On Apr 25, 2016

A 60-year-old grandmother, Asabi Adebayo, has told the Oyo State Police Command that she had a thriving baby trafficking ring where she allegedly bought five babies for the whopping sum of N5 million, at N1 million per baby, with the sole purpose of taking the babies to the United State of America, for sale.

Adebayo who added that she had lived a large part of her life in the USA, said she bought the babies from a child trafficker based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The suspect, after buying the babies, brought them to an orphanage in Ibadan, and was in the process of obtaining a certified police report for them in preparation for moving them abroad before she was nabbed.

Parading Adebayo at the state police headquarters at Eleyele, Ibadan, the Commissioner of Police, Leye Oyebade, said the woman would have escaped if not for the patriotic effort of the officials of the orphanage who reported the matter at the Iyaganku Police Station.

Politics / Port Harcourt And Warri Refineries Begins Operations- Kachikwu by olillywales(m): 7:22pm On Apr 24, 2016
The long queues for petrol in Nigeria may soon be history, with the refineries in Port Harcourt and Warri, now producing seven million litres daily.

This will give succour to petrol consumers in eastern part of the country.
Dr Ibe Kachikwu, the minister of state for petroleum broke the good news today
at the re-commissioning of the Bonny-Port Harcourt Refinery crude pipeline.

The pipeline has just been rehabilitated after being out of use for so many years due to incessant vandalism.
Dr. Kachikwu stated that Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company is also scheduled to start production any moment from now adding that the coming on stream of the three refineries will go a long way to ensure sufficient supply and distribution of petrol across the country.

He stated that the NNPC under his watch has been able to recover the two critical crude supply pipelines which were Escravos to Warri and Bonny to Port Harcourt crude supply pipelines stressing that they are critical to the downstream sector of the industry.
“Port Harcourt is back in production, Warri is back in production, Kaduna as at today is receiving crude and will soon be back in production. Lagos is easing off now from fuel scarcity and Abuja is doing the same thing and once Kaduna begins production, the North will see a lot of improvement.

He added that for the first time in many years, the three refineries are going to be working and it will help in a great deal with the issue of fuel supply and distribution across the country.
He noted that the commercial governance model system was being introduced into the refineries so as to keep them in business and to enable them compete favourably in the hydrocarbon value chain.
“ What we have done is to find a very creative way of bringing investors who will come in, work with our team here who have the skills, reactivate and upgrade facilities in these refineries’’, the minister disclosed.

According to him, the investors will also help us to provide technical support and they will be paid through the flow out of refined products over a period of time which is why we have also changed the refining model such that refineries pay for their crude so it goes into federation account.

He explained that whatever they produce is theirs and they sell to one huge customer which will be both Nigerian Petroleum Marketing Company (NPMC) and the marketers themselves and that enables them to keep the refineries going after the upgrade so that the problem we have in the past of not repairing the refineries will not reoccur.

Dr. Kachikwu noted that the misgivings going round that we are trying to hand over refineries is not true saying that the President was very clear from day one, that at this point in time he was not ready for that, so that is not the model we are pursuing now.
According to him, we are not inviting foreign partners to take over the refineries, we do not have the funds, even now that they are working, they are probably working at about 60 per cent or below capacity so you need to upgrade these refineries and get them to a level where they will operate at 90 per cent capacity or more.

“It requires money and total investment for that is in excess of about $700 million and we don’t have it’’, the minister stated.
He said that even at full capacity of the refineries, the country would still import petroleum products to augment the supply of petroleum products.

The minister said that going forward by 2019 when the co-location refineries become operational, the country will stop importation of petroleum products and become a net exporter.
The Minister reassured that he remains focused at finding solutions to the many problems confronting the petroleum sector adding that gradually the problems were being solved through innovative ways.

He called on Nigerians to own and protect the petroleum crude and products pipelines across their communities stressing that the Federal Government cannot do it alone without their cooperation.
He commended the security agencies for their efforts at safeguarding the pipelines and urged Nigerians to also protect the pipelines since they are national assets.

Speaking earlier, the Managing Director of the PHRC, Dr. Bafred Enjugu assured the Minister that the refineries will deliver on their new mandate of being commercial noting that the hard days of petroleum product scarcity are over for good.
On his part, the Team lead of the Escarvos-Warri and Bonny-Port Harcourt pipeline Task Force, Engr. Rabiu Suleiman stated that the team came up with robust strategies for security and community engagement which according to him if sustained will keep all the refineries working without coming down.

It would be recalled that the 46 km Escravos-Warri crude pipeline and the Bonny-Port Harcourt refinery crude pipelines were rendered inactive for many years by pipeline vandals and the refineries resorted to marine crude transport to the refineries.

Politics / Northern Elders Write Buhari "2016 Budget Not Favourable To The North by olillywales(m): 12:11pm On Apr 17, 2016
Northern elders cry to Buhari
— 17th April 2016
Say region shortchanged in 2016 budget
Want Biafra crushed
We’ll open up discussion to accommodate all grievances –Reps

From Iheanacho Nwosu and Fred Itua, Abuja

NORTHERN elders have asked President Muhammadu Buhari to upwardly review capital allocations to the North in the 2016 budget, claiming that the region was shortchanged.

This is as the elders advised the president not to buckle in dealing with the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), and urged him to ensure that the full weight of the law was brought against the agitators.

The elders in a five-page letter signed by elder statesman, Amb. Yusuf Maitama Sule equally enjoined President Buhari to continue to show sympathy to initiatives that channel “funding and expertise to the North from the country as well as from international financing and other support sources.”

The letter entitled ‘Advice on National Issues ‘was written under the aegis of Northern Elders Forum (NEF) on March 7. Describing allocations for capital projects given to the North-east, North-west and North-west as inadequate, the group claimed that the region was shortchanged.

It reminded the president that the backbone of his administration is the North and cautioned that if the allocations were not upwardly reviewed, it would pose a huge problem for his government.

NEF said: “We have conducted some analysis on the 2016 budget estimates which Mr President submitted to the National Assembly. We are concerned over the absence of equity in the allocation of capital spending. The three geo-political zones in the North are severely shortchanged.”

The group continued: “For a region deserving greater resources and attention as well as being the political backbone of your administration, this situation will pose serious problems for your administration.

“We advise Mr President to review the proposed allocations in consultation with the National Assembly.”

The Northern elders said the South already had advantage over the North in terms of the number of federal civil servants, a situation it said meant that the south would enjoy allocations for recurrent votes.

The forum further contended: “We wish to draw Mr. President’s attention to the fact that over 75 percent of all Federal Government public service employees are from the three geo-political zones in the South. This means that virtually the same percentage of recurrent spending will go to Nigerians from the South.”

On the government structure, the verdict of the NEF was damning. The forum described

Buhari’s team as weak, urging him to immediately establish an

Economic Management Team. The group wrote: “We have

noted the need for improvements in the human and institutional

capabilities which aid Mr. President in governing the nation.

As economic difficulties and demands for good governance

become more challenging, the quality of advice and support

Mr. President will require will need to be substantially raised.

“We urge Mr. President to establish an Economic Management Team and conclude

Appointments of key officers and advisers. Where there are

evident weaknesses and gaps in skills, competencies, experience and integrity, we urge Mr. President to take steps to address them.”

On national security, NEF urged President Buhari to look into allegations that Boko Haram “still has substantial presence in

many areas near Maiduguri and other towns and villages.” The elders called for measures that would help improve the “quality of intelligence and integrity of the leadership of the Armed

Forces.” Focusing specifically on what it called the threat posed by

IPOB to national security, the forum said: “We commend Mr

President’s stand and disposition towards the threats posed by the

Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) and advise that in addition to allowing full weight of the law to be deployed against these threats, Mr. President should support initiatives which

isolate this threat among Igbo people.”

Recommending on ways of rehabilitating the Northeast

ravaged by insurgency, the body called for the establishment of North-east Development Commission in addition to other development strategies.

It counseled that the commission should be well funded and deliberately assisted to function effectively.

On what the president should do to revive the economy of the North, NEF said: “We recognize that Mr President has a national mandate and we do not intend to ask for what does not belong to the North. However, the level of poverty, which is increasing particularly in relation to the rest of the country, represents a serious threat to the region and the unity and survival of our dear country.”

The group charged the president to continue to give special attention to economic and welfare needs of the region.

In a reaction to the issues raised by the Northern elders in

respect of the 2016 budget, the House of Representatives last

night gave assurance it would look into the grouse of the North

In a telephone chat with a Sunday Sun correspondent, Spokesman of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abdulrazak Saad Namdas, promised that every gray area would be addressed in fresh negotiations with the Presidency in respect of provisions in the budget for capital projects.

“We are still awaiting response from Mr. President on the budget before we open further discussions,” Namdas said.

Further efforts made to speak with some other notable lawmakers were unsuccessful as they did not pick their calls or respond to text messages as at the time of filling this report.

Also reacting to the request to the president on Biafra agitators

last night, the National Leader of a faction of the Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), Uchenna Madu dismissed it as nonsense.

Madu described the northern elders as a bunch of old men talking nonsense.

He added: “By the letter to Buhari, they have accepted the failure of their kinsman in governing the country and now acting in frustration.

“They should not deceive themselves in the old Biafra.

The new Biafra runs in the blood of every Igbo man and nobody can stop it. The letter asking Buhari to deal with Biafra agitators has no meaning because they cannot crush or stop Biafra. The Northern elders or whatever they call themselves can go to hell.”

Politics / Mile 12 Traders Set For Showdown With Governor Ambode by olillywales(m): 9:55am On Apr 16, 2016
Traders in the Mile 12 market have expressed their displeasure at the announcement made by the Lagos state government that they will be relocated to Imota in Lagos state.

The traders say the announcement is contrary to the request they made to Governor Ambode.

Punch reports that the General Secretary, Shukura Yam Section, Mr. Collins Obichukwu said the traders were not carried along by the government.

Reports say the Mile 12 traders asked the Lagos state government to modernise the market.

Obichukwu said “The leadership of Mile 12 Market has the belief that the State government will not take any fundamental decision that affects the market without extensive consultation with the stakeholders of the market, particularly the leadership of the market.

“The report of the panel of inquiry set up by Lagos State to look into the incident lends credence to the fact that the civil disturbance was not directly or remotely connected with the activities of our traders. lt is against the backdrop that we received with disbelief and shock the statement credited to Governor Akinwunmi Ambode that our market would be relocated in six months’ time.

“In the unlikely event that it is true, we will view His Excellency’s declaration as a savage attack on our rights to association as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”

He also said “We believe that the government of Lagos State under the leadership of Ambode is a responsive, listening government. How will a government make unilateral declaration on matter that affects our livelihood and the masses without due consultation with the people that will be directly affected by such declaration, particularly in a democratic dispensation? ”

He said the decision to relocate the market was at variance with their request, adding that the government should develop the market into a modern market with functional facilities.”

“After the market was shut, we held a meeting with the government and requested that the market should be developed into a modern market with functional facilities like it was done in Sura, Apongbon and Tejuosho markets,” Obichukwu added.

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode said on Tuesday, April 12, 2016, that government will relocate the Mile 12 traders to Imota in six months.

Politics / Fuel Scarcity Has Reduced In Abuja...what About Your Area? by olillywales(m): 6:22pm On Apr 13, 2016
Fuel supply to Abuja retail stations has improved and the long fuel queues of vehicles have virtually eased, the NNPC said today.
This followed the increase in truck loading from 186 to 240 trucks on Tuesday. The corporation said the supply will be sustained on Wednesday.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, and its downstream subsidiary Nigerian Products Marketing Company, NPMC, said twelve cargoes laden with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) otherwise known as petrol are currently discharging in Lagos, Calabar and Port Harcourt ports in order to wet the nation with robust supply and distribution of petrol.

The Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division of the NNPC, Mal. Garba Deen Muhammad stated this after a tour of some filling stations in Abuja and its environs on Tuesday.

Mal. Muhammad informed that the NNPC, Major Marketers Association of Nigeria, MOMAN, and the Independent Petroleum Marketing Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, are all trucking out petrol from their various marine and inland depots to stabilize the situation.
“The NNPC/NPMC is collaborating with the various relevant stakeholders in the hydrocarbon value chain to wet the nation with PMS. This is in line with the resolve and mandate of the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu to restore normalcy to the filling stations across the states of the federation,” Mal. Muhammad posited.
The NNPC Spokesman stated that more trucks are also being sent to Nasarawa, Kaduna and Niger States to reduce the demand in Abuja.

He informed that at the moment, twelve other vessels laden with PMS have been lined up to ensure a seamless flow of petrol to all NNPC inland depots and other strategic reserves across the country.

“We wish to empathize with motorists across the country over the several hours spent on fuel queues in the past few weeks. We also want to reassure them that we are working tirelessly to ensure that fuel supply and distribution return back to normalcy. As the vessels discharge petrol, we will ensure that the products are trucked out immediately to forestall any form of fuel scarcity going forward,” the NNPC Spokesman averred.

Mal. Muhammad enjoined motorists to desist from panic buying and filling station owners to desist from hoarding
.
He cautioned taxi drivers against the unscrupulous act of round tripping to service black market operators saying any driver caught in the act would be handed over to law enforcement agents to face the full wrath of the law.

Politics / Former UMTH Staff Charged With N185m Fraud by olillywales(m): 5:50pm On Apr 13, 2016
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arraigned five former staff of the Finance and Accounts department, University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, UMTH, before Justice M. T. Salihu of the Federal High Court, Maiduguri, Borno State, on charges bordering on conspiracy and obtaining by false pretence.

The accused persons – a former Assistant Director, Mahmud Deji Sambo; a former Assistant Chief Accountant, Bukar Musti; a former Executive Officer, Mohammed Saleh Kasim, a former Internal Auditor, Haruna G. Katangana, and Alkali Ibrahim Gonimi – are alleged to have at various times connived to alter documents to defraud the university to the tune of N185 million.

Sambo (aka Ardo Hamajam) and Kasim (aka Babagana Sale), were arraigned on an eight-count charge bordering on conspiracy, uttering of documents, and obtaining by false pretence, to the tune of N61 million. In one of the counts against them, between March 2009 and December 2009, they allegedly obtained N35,882,000 from the coffers of the UMTH under the false pretence that it was for supplies to the hospital and contractual salary for Babagana Saleh.

Musti and Sambo, were docked on a three-count charge bordering on obtaining by false pretence to the tune of over N58 million. They are alleged to have between March 2010 and June 2010, used their positions to defraud UMTH of the said sum in the guise that it was to be used for payment of salaries.

Kasim, was arraigned along with the duo of Musti and Sambo, on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy and obtaining by false pretence to the tune of N8 million, between September 2008 and September 2010.

Gonimi (aka La’ari Wakil), was also arraigned separately along with Musti and Sambo on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining by false pretence and conspiracy to the tune of over N5 million. They were alleged to have between February 2010 and June 2011 fraudulently obtained the sum of N5,986,257.33 from the coffers of the teaching hospital in the guise that it was for payments of salaries.

Katangana, who was arraigned along with Musti and Sambo on a 15-count charge bordering on forgery, allegedly connived to prepare false documents to wit: UMTH payment voucher No. GTB/01/09 for January 2009 salaries, with intent that it be used and acted upon as genuine – an offence contrary to Section 465 of the Criminal Code Act, Cap. C38 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004 and punishable under Section 467 of the same Act.

They all pleaded “not guilty” to the charges, when they were read to them.

Politics / PHOTOS: "Borno Is Now Free From Boko Haram'' - Governor Shettima by olillywales(m): 3:59pm On Apr 12, 2016
Governor of Borno State, Alhaji Kashim Shettima says Boko Haram has been decimated since President Muhammadu Buhari took office. He declared that "Borno is now free," noting, however, that the war against the sect is still on. Shettima stated this yesterday, April11 during his visit to the headquarters of National Emergency Management Agency, (NEMA) in Abuja.

Accompanied by Senators Abubakar Kyari and Baba Kaka Garbai as well as some top state functionaries, Governor Shettima was received by the Director General of NEMA, Muhammad Sidi.

"10 months ago, one could not travel for 10 kilometres without encountering terrorists; Maiduguri was the only relatively safe haven," he said. "Yes, we still have occasional hiccups, but Boko Haram has been so decimated that they can no longer threaten the corporate existence of Nigeria."

Shettima noted that peace was gradually returning to the state, expressing optimism that by year-end, all Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, would have returned to their homes.

Speaking, Sidi commended the governor for reconstructing liberated areas, urging him not to be deterred by occasional and isolated terrorist attacks on soft targets.

Crime / PHOTO: Nigerian Man And Wife Sentenced To 25 Years In Prison In Cambodia by olillywales(m): 10:00am On Apr 12, 2016
A Nigerian man and his Vietnamese wife were on Thursday, March 24 found guilty at the Phnom Penh Municipal Court of smuggling 1.5 kg of heroin from Cambodia to Australia and sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Samuel Amechi Okeke, 34, (pictured arriving at the Phnom Penh Municipal Court) and his 26-year-old wife Ho Thi Nhu Thuy, were arrested in July 2014 after customs officials in Australia intercepted 10 backpacks lined with heroin that they had mailed from the Dangkao district post office in May that year, according to police. They were subsequently charged with drug trafficking.

During the trial on February 2016, Ms. Thuy admitted to mailing the backpacks but said she did so at the request of a friend and was unaware they contained heroin. Mr. Okeke claimed he knew nothing about the drugs. However, on Thursday, the court ruled that he did.

"The court decides to sentence, firstly, Samuel Amechi Okeke, 34, Nigerian, to 25 years in prison and fine him 50 million riel [about $12,500]," Presiding Judge Than Leng announced in the courtroom, going on to read out an identical sentence for Ms. Thuy.

While being escorted from the courtroom, Mr. Okeke expressed disappointment about the ruling.

"How can I accept?" he said.

Hun Rithy, a deputy bureau chief at the Interior Ministry’s internal security department who led the initial investigation into the case, said he was satisfied with the verdict.

"It is appropriate because they are husband and wife, and they colluded," he said.

Mr. Okeke, who has been in provisional detention at Phnom Penh’s maximum-security Prey Sar prison since his arrest in 2014, is also facing trafficking charges over 13 kg of methamphetamine seized from a Cambodian man in Phnom Penh late last month—the biggest drug seizure of the year.

According to military police, the drugs were part of a distribution ring being operated by Mr. Okeke with four other inmates. All six suspects in the case were charged with trafficking on March 4.

Politics / Five Key Facts Of Chibok Girls’ Kidnap After 2 Years by olillywales(m): 3:55pm On Apr 11, 2016
Two years ago the world was in uproar over the abduction of more than 200 schoolgirls by the Islamist militant group Boko Haram from a secondary school in Chibok in northeastern Nigeria.

Under the hashtag #bringbackourgirls, politicians, celebrities and the public globally united to demand the return of the girls who disappeared without a trace.

Two years later, and after several false leads, the girls are still missing.

Here are five key facts about the Chibok schoolgirls:

1. On April 14, 2014, Boko Haram militants kidnapped 276 school girls, mostly aged between 16 and 18, from a secondary school in Chibok in Borno State, northeast Nigeria. About 50 of the girls escaped but 219 were captured.

2. Nigeria’s government and military faced heavy criticism for their handling of the incident, with towns and cities across the nation witnessing protests. President Goodluck Jonathan, who declined to comment on the kidnappings for almost three weeks, was criticised, and became the first sitting Nigerian president to lose an election, in 2015.

3. The kidnappings prompted a strong social media reaction, with the phrase #bringbackourgirls tweeted around 3.3 million times by mid-May 2014. U.S. first lady Michelle Obama joined the campaign, as did Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani schoolgirl shot by the Taliban after campaigning for girls’ education.

4. Hope for the girls was briefly raised in April, 2015, when the Nigerian military announced it had rescued 200 girls and 93 women from the Sambisa forest. It was later revealed that the Chibok girls were not among them.

5. About 2,000 girls and boys have been kidnapped by Boko Haram since the beginning of 2014, according to Amnesty International, which says they are used as cooks, sex slaves, fighters and even suicide bombers.

Politics / Armed Thugs Attack Soldiers, policemen In Gwagwalada, abuja Over Election Results by olillywales(m): 4:53pm On Apr 10, 2016
The decision by the Returning Officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission to declare as inconclusive, the chairmanship election in Gwagwalada area council in Nigeria’s Federal capital of Abuja has spurred violence.

The returning officer Adamu Tanimu said the election became inconclusive following cancellation of two polling units under Ibwa ward, which have a cumulative registered voters of 1881.

He had earlier given the scores of all the four participating parties, where APGA’s candidate, Mustapha Adamu (Obama) recorded the highest number of 15, 272 votes.

The closest rival and incumbent chairman, Abubakar Jibrin of APC recorded 14, 546, with PDP having 6,082 votes.

The difference between APGA and APC, according to the collation officer stood at 726 votes.

However, he said, since the total number of cancelled votes exceeded the difference between the duo, a run-off election has to be conducted by the electoral umpire.

This prompted the APGA agent, Ibrahim Danbare to challenge the declaration, and immediately ordered for the hundreds of supporters, who spent the night singing and dancing outside the INEC office to enter into the building.

The army of thugs reportedly overwhelmed a combined military, police, Civil defence and other security outfits at the gate and them and made their way into the building. They smashed cars and glasses, and chased everybody within the office with machetes, sticks and other weapons.

APGA later accused the electoral officer of succumbing to the pressure mounted by the FCT minister, to declare the election inconclusive.

“As a party, we have always played by the rules and won’t allow collude with the ruling APC to cancel our victory in Gwagwalada,” APGA said in a post on its Twitter handle.

Politics / PHOTO: Rain Disrupts Voting In Abuja As Counting Of Ballot Begins by olillywales(m): 6:05pm On Apr 09, 2016

Counting of ballot has started in Kwali Area Council of Abuja, Nigeria’s Federal capital Territory, FCT amid heavy rainfall.

The election, earlier scheduled to hold on March 19 but later rescheduled, held in the six FCT area councils on Saturday to elect officials who would pilot the councils’ affairs in the next three years.

Vote counting began at the Angwan Hakimi polling unit at 2:12 p.m., while in the Post Office polling unit, counting began around 1:15 p.m.

At the Police Barrack polling unit, counting began at 12:00 p.m.

In the other polling centres, which had yet to complete the voting process, voters were seen waiting to exercise their franchise, in spite of the gusty winds and heavy rains.

Also in Bwari Area Council, hundreds of voters who trooped out for the exercise had to run helter-skelter to seek refuge from the rains.

Some of the voters, who spoke to NAN, said that the rainfall was a major setback, as some voters might not return to cast their vote.

However, Mr Shittu Tata, the INEC Electoral Officer in-charge of Bwari Area Office, told NAN that voting might be extended if the rains continued till 4:00p.m.

“We are bound to stop voting at 4 p.m. but if the rain continues to fall at the time voting is expected to end; we will have no other option than to extend the voting period.

“We will use our discretion to extend the time if the rain persists, so as to enable more voters to exercise their franchise,’’ Tata said.

NAN reports that the electoral officers were seen, busy moving electoral materials from polling centres due to the rain.

Politics / 'if There’s No Electricity, It’s Not President Buhari’s Fault' - Fashola by olillywales(m): 5:48pm On Apr 08, 2016
Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, as appealed to the conscience of electricity workers on Thursday, April 7 over epileptic power supply in the country saying the issue of epileptic eletricity is not the President's fault.

Speaking at the third triennial delegates’ conference of the Senior Staff Association of Electricity and Allied Companies, the Minister said Nigeria lost N7.734bn between 2014 and 2016, owing to frequent strike actions embarked upon by electricity workers.

Fashola said the monumental revenue loss was discovered after conducting a snap survey of strikes embarked upon by workers in the sector between April 2014 and March 2016.

“Our job is to provide electricity and get paid for it; we have no other job. If electricity is not enough, it means that we haven’t provided it, you and I.

“If there is not enough electricity, it is not the fault of the President but you and I, who are employed to work in this sector.”

“The finger pointing should stop. Our responsibility is to provide electricity, let us go back to work, we will solve the disputes one by one. It is improved productivity of electricity that yields the money that goes into your pockets, let us understand it, because you don’t get paid in advance but in arrears,” he said.

Politics / Scammers Clone EFCC Boss Magu’s Phone Number by olillywales(m): 9:08pm On Apr 06, 2016
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has alerted Nigerians on fraudsters who have been impersonating the acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu and extorting money from members of the public under various guises.

The EFCC spokesman Wilson Uwujaren said some scammers have cloned the phone number of Magu and now make calls to close contacts of the anti-graft Czar and other prominent personalities demanding for huge sums of money using various pretexts.

It was the second time, fraudsters will impersonate Magu.

Several weeks ago, Uwujaren had similarly drawn attention to a fake Facebook account bearing the name of the EFCC boss. They then used it to solicit for friendship from prominent individuals and demand all manner of favours using the platform.

“Members of the public are hereby warned to disregard any call supposedly from the EFCC Chairman asking for payments to be made either to nominated proxies or accounts as such calls do not emanate from Ibrahim Magu.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the EFCC Chairman, indeed all officials of the agency, do not solicit for nor accept payments/gratification from persons or organisations under any guise.

“Members of the public are enjoined to report anyone claiming to be acting on behalf of the acting chairman or other officials of the EFCC at any of the Commission’s offices in Abuja, Lagos, Port Harcourt, Enugu, Kano, Gombe, Ibadan and Maiduguri or the nearest police station”, said Uwujaren.
