In 2011, Mr. Tinubu and his ACN (NOW APC) made Ribadu their Presidential Candidate but Tinubu sold him out. What laughing stock is bigger than that? APC exposed Belgore, Ikimi, Shekarau, Ribadu, to ridicule. They all left. 3 of them are now in PDP. Ikimi may soon join them. Nuhu knows he can never loose with PDP. 1 Like |

APC is not an opposition party. They are a collection of people gathered together by Tinubu to enrich himself. In 4 months time, Tinubu will use APC's fake presidential candidate to make money as he did in 2011. If you doubt me ask Nuhu Ribadu or ask To Ikimi. They know him better than APC e-members. 1 Like |

Actually, going by the amount of Allocation and IGR made by Fashola's Government and the huge amount of foreign loans already incurred, Lagos should be like Dubai by now. But huge part of that money has been used and is still being used, to fund elections in Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, Ondo States etc. 1 Like |

Politics / Re: Soyinka: The Mad Old Professor (MOP) by Ollajay: 7:24pm On Jul 22, 2013 |
WS is a very brilliant scholar, a nobel lauret and professsor of high repute. But that alone is not sufficient to regard him as all round success in other spheres. For example, he is not really very sucessful in area of marriage. In the same way he is not an expert in politics or political leadership. Unfortunately, his use of "abusive words" on PEJ is quite unbecoming of a man of his learning. He shouldnt use those words on PEJ or anyone at all. This type of misguided use of words has brought him to ridicule more than once. First, his use of words on the former SA to OBJ Mr Femi Fani-kayode led to insults and embarrasing words on Soyinka. Soyinka's comment on FFK suggested that there was something wrong with the level of intelligence of FFK's lineage referring to FFK's father. Unfortunately, WS didnt remember that FFK's father and grand father studied law at Cambridge (or some frontline UK Uni) and they both graduated with First Class. WS was also insulted by Festus Keyamo when WS expressed a legal opinion which attempted to ridicule Keyamo. Keyamo insulted WS by saying he was "talking law and not tinkle tinkle little star", thereby saying WS can only speak on literature and not law. The current use of words on PEJ by WS will further bring him to ridicle. If he continues this way, more and more people will insult him and he will lose a substantial amount of the respect he had. Just my view though, anyone is free to disagree. 13 Likes |

Career / Re: Average Salary For A Lawyer In A Law Firm In Nigeria by Ollajay: 9:58am On May 28, 2010 |
I need to speak again because I dont know young ones who may read some comments here and be misled. All I will say is the truth and nothing but the truth. First, "average salary" of a lawyer in Nigeria is just difficult to determine. In any event, lawyers in Nigeria usually earn more than their salary as income. A lawyer may earn 15k per month salary but may earn 500k per month income. Only one land perfection brief is enough. You can wake up without a dime as a lawyer, and go to bed on the same day as a multi millionier. I know one of my friends, he works in a very "small" firm compared to mine, and I earn more salary than him, but his income for the past two years was far higher than mine. Simply because he has the time to do more work on his own. Last year he donated N1m to his church without blinking. In every profession anywhere in the world, we have very well paid and very poorly paid. But for Nigerian lawyers, that is usually a temporary thing. They usually, make money after few years, by far more than going to the banks etc. For example, I earn a dissent salary but I was not able to make good money on the aside until this year after 6/7 years as a lawyer. But my salary is good enough to take care of my needs. I bought my first care after only 2 years as a lawyer. But this year, i began to make some good money in addition to my salary. Only yesterday, I got instruction from a UK firm (But with subsidiary in Nigeria). The work is worth US$25,000. I should be able to make between 1.5m to 2m just on this one brief. I have a couple of other ones in the pipelines. This is in addition to my salary. I have so many lawyer friends and colleagues who are doing even better. Please do not deceive yourself thinking lawyers earn "like your drivers". Yes, some, for now, may not earn well, but that will soon change. the legal profession is the highest fee earner in Nigeria. Some firms, (like mine) with just about 10 lawyers, make N1 Billion per annum. You can make part of that money too if you position yourself well. It is no magic, you just have to key into it. @Passionup: Please allow your guy to follow his dream. It will amaze you what he can become if he became a lawyer. @Poster: I have been through small and big firms in Nigeria for almost 7 years, in my view the average salary of lawyer in Nigeria should be N40k to 50k, but average income of an average lawyer in Nigeria should be N120k per month. Wishing you all the best! 8 Likes 1 Share |

solomonjay: There is no need to insult Megastu. He did not insult anybody. I am a lawyer myself and I know what megastu said is very correct. there are law firms that pay up to 350k to 400k for lawyers. Although Megastu now works for a company that pays him up to 300k. I am aware of my colleagues who have moved into companies after working in law firms. Non of them now earns less than 300k. there is a corper in my office presently and my firm pays the corper 50k. Our secretaries earn about 80k. I know of a lawf irm that pays thier corpers 95k with blackberry. Megastu was factual! You may find these to believe becos of what you might have heard, but Megastu and I just told the truth. You have well paid and poorly paid in all professions, but many times peoeple's choices and acess to information can make a lot of difference. Just like Megastu, I am not doing badly in law pratice working for a law firm although I intend to start my own firm soon. I was called to the bar 6 yrs ago, but I do not envy anyone in any profession because my needs are met and am fulfiled being a lawyer in private practice! 2 Likes |

Yes, its true many junior lawyers earn very low income. This is usually due to the greed of thier principals not because lawyers are not making good money. That is why may junior lawyers try to ganner good quality experience and leverage on that expirience to establish thier own practice and before you know it they join the league of high fee earners. Some juniors are not having it bad too. Some law firms pay what compares with the banks. So they have some level of comfort. I am on employment with a law firm in Lagos and I know that there are law firms that give brand new cars to their staff. But after getting experience, a lawyer will most likely fair better to be on his own. Even for juniors who is lowly paid now, its usually only a matter of time. They will soon get thier fair share of goodies in law practice. I have a friend who was poorly paid and harrased by his boss, so he went on his own. I less than 6 months, he became very comfortable. I have not less than 10 lawyer friends around me, all of them are in private practice but all of them are comfortable. they are not worse than any of thier mates in the banks, or telecoms, The multinational oil company ones may be a shade better. Law has a little edge over other disciples, lawyers are hardly jobless, the job may not pay much but they will find something. In summary, am fulfiled as a lawyer and I am not bad financially. What is more, I feel I am closer than ever to making very big bucks in legal practice. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Sports / Re: Lagerback Will Fail Nigeria - Amodu by Ollajay: 4:00pm On Apr 09, 2010 |
Most Nigerians dont know what they want. They use people and dump them. Westerhof got the best result so far as Nigeria's National team coach, but he was sent packing with full disrespect. "Lagger Back" will also not be spared of Nigeria's woes. Whatever Lagger Bact's record might have been historically, the truth is that he did not match Amodu on current result. Only Nigeria can give out a world cup ticket to a man so undeserving of it and pay him stupendously for it. If Lagger Back is as good as Nigerians say, why did he not qualify for the word cup on his own merit? Even if Nigeria wants to engage a new coach, it should have waited till the end of SA 2010. That will show us if indeed Lagger Back is interested in developing Nigerian football or is plainly looking for windfall! Just look at Lagger Back, as soon as he could not qualify Sweden for SA 2010, he dumped Sweden and jumped at Nigeria's widnfall. Then ask yourself, if Amodu didnt qualify Nigeria for SA 2010, would Lagger Back have accepted to come to Nigeria now? Lagger Back is just a gold digger, he will most likely dump Nigeria soon after SA 2010 or if we fail to qualify for Brazil 2014 Nigeria is just a big shame!!! |
Politics / Re: Fg Indicts Obasanjo Over N200bn Ecological Fund by Ollajay: 3:52pm On Nov 11, 2009 |
back2back: First, it has since been found that the total budget for power project under OBJ was about $6billion and not $16billion. In any event, it was found that only about $3billion has been realeased when OBJ left govt. This was confirmed by CBN, Auditor General of the Fedration and IMF who was supervising the project. The National Assembly probe was just a huge joke!!! Elumelu and his committee were so ignorant of how power project contracts work!!! Second, I listened to the VP's statement on Ecological Fund. At no time did he mentioned that OBJ or the FG was responsible for the alleged wastage of the N200 billion. This is because Eco Fund is not "spent" by FG. Rather, ECO Fund is shared amongst all the states of the Federation, the FCT and the FG. Every state, FCT or FG have the responsibility to account for how the spent moneis recieved from Eco Fund. It is clearly absurd and contrary to any iota of sense for anyone to say OBJ should account for how Eco Fund was spent over 8 years by all the states of the Federation, FCT and FG. In any event, how much is N200billion spent over 8 years can make any difference in the ecology of Nigeria. Let us assume that all the states of the Federation, the FCT and the FG shared the sum of N200 billion equally amongst them over 8 years ie N200 billion divided by 38= N5billion; N5billion divided by 8 years = N676 million per year. So, if each state spent about N676 million for 8 years on Ecology, what is the big deal? Even if we dont know how the fund was shared between them, it is clear that 200 billion in 8 years is N25billion per year. If all the 36 states of the federation share N25 billion per annum, how much impact will it make on the Ecology of any state? If you believe OBJ is a thief, then catch him on hard facts and not merely emotions. Otherwise, you may never be able to catch him. I beleive no one will be able to charge OBJ for corruption until the are sure of the facts! Am waiting and watching. |

From some people's comments, Adeboye is responsible for most evil in Nigeria (Is it a joke?) Adeboye owns RCCG and all its assets. Does it mean all the assets would be willed to his children when he dies? Any assets where you see RCCG including all RCCG parishes, Universities, schools, maternity centers, bible colleges, cars, jet etc. (no this is a big joke) All tithes, offerings, pledges from members goes to Adeboye's personal account. Does it mean RCCG is taking bank loan to build parishes, pay pastors, travels etc? Nigerian have accused Gani Fawehimmi of preach anarchy by support Nuhu Ribadu's EFCC. I think Nigerians are a bunch of jokers! Nobody is good in Nigeria. Infact everyone is bad. Unless perhaps Fela Anikulapo! Nigerians agree Fela is a legend! But Adeboye is not! Most Nigerians dont even know what good is or they just run you down to achieve personal vendatta against others. That is why I know that Abacha, IBB or OBJ may not be bad afterall! |

Tudór: Well, it is wrong of you to call me (or us) a fool (s) for saying Adeboye does not own RCCG or its assets. Such unprovoked abusive statements show that you are very immature. Your comments shows that you are completely ignorant of even the very basic rules and operations of running an organisation like a church. First, RCCG was founded many years b4 Adeboye became a member. So I repeat RCCG or its assets does not belong to Adeboye. Second, Adeboye does not control the 'business'' of RCCG. The business of RCCG is controlled by its Board of Trustees. Surely Adeboye can be challenged and if need be removed by the Trustees. Fourth, Adeboye does not control the finances of RCCG nor is he a sole signatory (if at all) to any of RCCG bank account. Adeboye cannot solely decide to buy 6 jets and nobody would challenge him. Even if he bought 6 jets, he can only buy in the name of RCCG and he can not ride all the jets at the same time. A simple check at the CAC or investiagtion of RCCG affairs should confirm to you that Adeboye does not control RCCG business as you state. |
Politics / Re: Adeboye Wins Living Legend Polls by Ollajay: 5:19pm On Jun 18, 2009 |
sowura: You definitely dont have any idea how tithes are collected in RCCG! He doesnt pay tax? May be you should check and Lagos tax office! May be you need to find out who actually owns the so called Jet, University or Schools! RCCG does not belong to Adeboye. He did nont found the Church. He is only the present Pastor. All assets owned by RCCG belongs to RCCG both now that Adeboye is the pastor and after him. Try to state only facts of which you have personal knowledge, not hear say, rumour or outright falsehood! |

Whatever the position might have been historically, the reality today is that education is nt free anywhere in the world. The cost usually depends on the quality. Obviously, we cannot put payments for education at the affordability of everyone and still retain the quality. Oral Robert University isnt free. Check! |

Reading through most of the comments here, it appears none of the nominees or the winners deserve to win. Most opinions are typical of Nigerians' ''run them down'' atitude. Before you can be celebrated by Nigerians, you must never have made a single mistake in your life. No matter your good works, a single blemish- whether proven or not- is enough for them to condemn you. If Jesus (or Muhhamed) were Nigerians and nominated for the award, Nigerians would still run them down. I think this attitude is simply despicable and is one reason why the best people will never serve Nigeria. South Africans celebrates Mandela (who was not the greatest aparthied fighter anyway but merely the surviving of the lot- eg Dedan Kimati) despite his flaws. Americans celebrated Clinton despite his flaws; Today, Nigerians speak against Awolowo, Azikiwe, Balewa, etc In short, Nigeria has no hero, no one to look up to. Sadly, most Nigerians who condemn these leaders are worse than them. Nigerians are killing Nigeria! |

Politics / Re: Mallam Ribadu Dismissed From The Police! by Ollajay: 1:36pm On Dec 24, 2008 |
I am not suprised Ribadu is sacked. That was the game from the outset. He will soon be arrested for already dertermined reason. He stands to be jailed if not assasinated. But one thing is sure, I have been encouraged to work hard in pursuit of corruption. That is the only way it works in Nigeria. Then I ask, if the President as the commander-in-chief of the armed forces promotes an officer for outstanding performance, is the PSC competent to reverse the promotion. In any event, Ribadu's promotion was stagnant in the police for about 7 years. Promotion is normally done every 3 yrs. Okiro, Late Solomon Amu-Giwa etc are example of officers who also benefitted from such promotion. Have thier promotions been reversed too? Also, is police entitled to act on an issue that is already before the court? Is that rule of law? That is enough reason to sack and jail Okiro for contempt. It is more than insorbodination for which Ribadu is said to be sacked, it is an affront of the courts and the constitution of the land. The mastermind of these of course, is the FG as represented by the hypocrite Yar Adua. He is merely using Okiro and the PSC. Sacking Ribadu is not really any substantial personal loss to Ribadu. He saw it coming. He is a lawyer and can definitely make a suceess in legal practice. But he needs to fight the evil even at the risk or loss of his life, just like Martin Luther King and MKO Abiola. Many tend to pint to persived flaws of Ribadu, he is not perfect, just like MLK or MKO were not perfect. But today, they are heroes. I do not pity Ribadu, rather, I admire and respect him. He should continue to stand for his right. I will stand with him in whatever way I can. I wish him well. |
