@ Dejsam & Goerge_D
If one gets the Dreambox500S or the HD version of it from an outlet in the States, will it work here in Africa? I’ll like to know if this stb is like or unlike Strong boxes which are fabricated with emphasis for specific regions of the globe
better not buy from the US, always advisable that you buy from Europe because of compatibility with signal type.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: All About Dreambox Receivers by olofofo(m): 11:04pm On Jan 22, 2010
@microgiant

I have the clone and it works great.
I was prepeared a long time for it's arrival so i have done a lot of research, basically what i am doing now are some hands on training on usage. plus i add to brush up on my basic linux

@skalamanga
mine with shipping to nigeria comes to under 150 dolars for the 500s which is the chepaest. this box is not for those that just wants to plug and play oooo. u need to cherish and care for it. strictly for real sat-enthusiast

@obnelly

yes it works with nilesat with a proper EMU,

@george_d

nice work.

@lolu

long time, now everyone will start calling me "key guy"

@all

I have used a motorized 1.8m dish and then moved on to a fixed 2.4m dish for my nilesat before moving to a 3m dish for nilesat as so on

the point on the fixed/motoriized arguement is thus:

if you want real entertainment in one package, a fixed 3m for niilesat is your best bet, because, u do not need to wait to flip channels, imagine watching SABC at intelsat 902 at 62E on your motorized dish and all of a sudden you need to change to cnn on Nss 7 cband at 22w and then u need to go back, apart from the wear and tear of motorizing your dish, it gets really cumbersome after some time, but as Lolu pointed out. a motorized dish is great for anyone trying to experiment, but remember you can only watch one satellite at a time, so at the end of the day, your motorized dish is basically a fixed dish at some point.

@all

just laid my hand on a dreambox 500s like a mentioned a couple of days back and the question i keep asking myself is this:

how can the best technlology in the Satellite world have taken this long to get to us here?

this box is the BEST DECODER I have seen in my life
i will keep you updated .

@olason

good for you that you are enjoying your 1.8m motorized but as far as am concerned there's really no argument regarding having a fixed dish with everything on it and a motorized dish., no argument whatsoever

@all

I have uploaded a detailed instruction plus firmware on how to  use 1-2-3-4 strong decoders to share any smart card, H*#V, D#tv, etc, all group members enjoy

olason:
skalamanga, u can watch the nations cup on nta on intelsat 905 for free. @ ALL, without updates on nile i can tell u categorically clear that u can do away with it. a motorised 1.8m 3 in 1 lnb setup can give u almost what u need.is it soap opera, sport, music, news, african movies,etc name it, and  u dont' need any update to watch them which u cant' on nile, I know what am saying cos have seen it all. Am not saying nile is not ok but with 1.8m motorised you are better off, imagine i have close to 13 fta stations showing the nations cup.Even the mbc1-4, fox movies, mbc max, mbc action, fox series, they show old movies but check out TIM on intersat 906c and see current movies in english and sub titled in spanish men you go bow not to talk of EATV lastest music compilelations,etc etc  I stand to be corrected!
I beg to differ.

a 2.4m nile installation has the following in full

news:
EURONEWS,
BBC
FRANCE 24
DEUTSCH WELLE and many more
CNN( depending where you are)

music:
MTV
Smile TV
music Plus and many more

movies:
MBC2
FOX movies
DUbai one
Dubai TV
MBC max
MBC action
MBC 4
FOX series

sport:
JSc sport 1,2, global,
Nesma TV
dubai sport 1
Abudabi sport 1 and 2

and many many more

if it's those that are interested in more than FTA that will go and buy decoders that you can experiment with for decrypting channels that are not FTA. in summary, if what you are interested in is Full entertainment in one package, and you have space and the cash to buy the dish, no motorized 1.8 set up can compare to Almighty NILESAT! unlike on a motorized set up where you have to move from place to the other.

it's like saying the beautiful song he did about his growing up called my beginning is a work of fiction as well,

speculations, did 9ice himself tell you it was about his wife. In my previous post I stated that 9ice and Paye are surrounded by enemies posing as friends and this once again confirms my observation. First its abby george, now its a song. The gist was obviously started by someone, I am convinced nigerians living in naija are not articulate at all. I beseech you, when coming up with such stories, make sure you know for a fact you are correct because if you tarnish a persons image without fact, God may have someone tarnish yours. Lets all be careful how we comment on this 9ice and Payne issue because a part of me tells me its spiritual warfare and no one wants to get in it. Marraige is an institution the devilo the attacks and all your comments i helping the devil achieve his goal. My pastor always says, watch how you judge others because yo may be next.
oga plenty grammar, go and listen to the song and come back and air your opinion based on what you hear.

Music/RadioLyrics From Once Bitten Twice Shy On 9ice's Album, Who Is He Talking About? by olofofo(op): 1:53pm On Jan 16, 2010
In light of the recent separation of 9ice from his wife and the release of his new album called tradition:

I will like to speculate the reasons for the separation is all in track no 9 called once bitten, twice shy.

on close scruttiny of the song,, i felt that the lyrics were too personal to be a work of fiction, it goes,

things we do for love,
no one can imagine,
what u did to me last time was by the way,

ohun oju ori ki bokan je ( what the eye does not see does not spoil the mind)
ojukoro ju okukoro ( what one see, one sees)

I saw you with my two naked eyes,
giving my friend nodding
while the door was ajar
i wAs shocked was so paralysed
looking at you two like mumu
you showing him your tatoo,
u thought i was a fool ,

folks should give it a listen and let us know what they really think.
maybe at some point 9ice will come out and tell us what is really going on.

we love Him too much for any woman to treat him that way!

@olofofo   thanks for the assistance you've been rendering, i appreciate. i have 2 questions.

1. what size of dish can i use to get thaicom5@78.5e
2. which is better, daarsat mpeg4 reciever or strong mpeg4 reciever.
3. if carry out a blind scan, will i get sirius4 signals with my 1m dish pointed to w3a.

your answer will go along way
you should be able to receive thaicom based on where you are in Nigeria, but the trick is getting your dish to move that far towards the horizon, the limits for most dishes here is 72E, i'll say 2.4m should be able to do it. besides, what's there?
2. darsat is fully HD decoder and i believe that it's better for future use while the strong decoder is Mpeg 4 and is somewhat limited in it's ability, although it' a great a decoder decoder for signal stability.
3. it is possible depending on the alignment of your dish, try if you will get this TP to turn green on it 12607v, 29950
