@zambeat

what you need is a connector like the one pictured below. regarding the satellite you are trying to track, since you are in zambia, you should really not have problems with that particular bird, try and find out if those channels are still on that bird from people arround you, since we can not get them here.

@sathob

was sleeping when your text came. here are the things you need:

H-H motor:
Protocol: DiseqC 1.2
Antenna SIze: 1.2m max
speed: 1.9*/sec @ 13v: 2.5*/sec @18v
Azimuth angle: 80*east-80* west (160*)
elevation angles:25*-75*

* = degrees.

hope this is concise enough for you.

@arabambi

track your dstv/dstv and gently turn you dish to the right using this tp's 11653v 15714. 1m is advisable though.

@ All

Good day.

I have asked before and no one responded. I will ask again, My receiver ( old SRT 4650) does not have sirus 4, can i in any way use sirus 3 or other means to gain access to stations on sirus 4 please?

Hoe to read from the leaders
you really do not need the satellite name on your decoder to track a particular satellite, all you need is the frequency and symbol rate of the satellite you are trying to track, try imputing 12605v 29950 as the tp sr into eutelsat w4 for instance and try to trck your sirius.

I will like to say that some of the boys in our team candidly look a bit young, take kayode and some of 2 or 3 regulars that i can not remember their names right now. This is due partly to FIFA's use of the MRI, the real shock is that Adokiye Amiesimaka blow the whistle and some "real nigerian" here are calling him traitor, this make you wonder where we are heading to in this country of saints and sinners is equal proportions of 1:1

@alancruise

1m is more than enoug for what you are seeking. trying changing your LNB or slightly bending your 1m dish inwards during tracking, i noticed that some of the 1m dishes in the market have this fault. also using a double LNB feed might solve the problem of receiving both satellites on the same 1 m dish.

for you to fully enjoy the Pre****tor in lagos and environs, u need to have a working Hotbird installation with a minimum of a twin LNB set up. the nilesat server does not WORK in lagos. for a solid hotbird installation for it, a 3m dish is advisable. this is the KEY, so before making enquiries or asking questions, Please have the follwing in place or else you might just end up wasting your doochie!

all pending GOOGLE Group activations have been done. ENJOY! more to come very very soon!

@ Olofofo,
What is the cost of your short range video sender? How far can it be received? Is it AV or UHF?
UHF, maybe 10-20m.

@butoneday

those DFTV guys have been arround for a long time. i did not notice anything new coming from them, i personally do not think that they are very serious people, as they understimate the level of satellite knowledge out there right now.

regarding the search for a long range video sender,  good luck with that. i don find tire. i had to settle for the old school short range video sender which is just able to cover a couple of houses arround me in the close. am still on a lookout for it. if you get, just let me know.

ART to close Irdeto boxes on June 1

27-09-2009

ART, the largest Middle East pay-TV platform, will begin the switch-out of its Irdeto encryption on June 1 next year, just days ahead of the important 2010 FIFA World Cup soccer tournament. ART is in the process of switching from Irdeto to Viaccess conditional access in an attempt to curb local piracy.

Viewers who want to see the soccer games will have to have bought a new ART-endorsed Viaccess-suitable set-top box. ART has exclusive rights to all of the World Cup games.

Despite this plan ART’s subscriber services company (MultiChoice Middle East) says it will continue to simulcrypt Irdeto conditional access for the foreseeable future, and the initial target is to see 95% of its audience to have new Viaccess boxes before any final Irdeto switch-off is concerned.

it is better, to ignore such people. and even better not to talk about it on this thread as watching paytv without subscription is illegal.

omobankes:
hello
it is a pleasure talking to you and i will be very greatful if you can help me out

my problem is this
i have a decoder  strong srt4653x that i use for hitv
recently i paid for the subscription
and i could not see anything but just only hi sport2, hi soccer
so they said i should upgrade it
i downloaded the software from their site
and it did not work at all so i check on the net and downloaded if from strong web site
and i bought these rs232 cable which did not work
so i connected it from the flash
after which the whole thing wipe
and i could not get anything again
please what do i need to do
help me out
wink
if you are saying that your decoder is not powering on again, then most likely that you have one of them fake 4653x decoders. using the patch on it usual fries it,what you need to do is connect your receiver with a null modem cable and the strong srt loader and try to revive the decoder.

the idea is not to come in an sell anything, ensure your signals are received and ensure ads are targeted to nigeria. no need for you to come and register aything.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Official Thread of Free-to- Air Satellite TV [part 3] by olofofo(m): 12:42pm On Oct 01, 2009
where did the everyone get the impression that it will be illegal for multitv to operate in Nigeria as a FTA channel. from the little knowledge that i have, you do not need local license to operate as an fta channel, CNN, BBC, ALJAZEERA are all received in nigeria, plus a lot of nigerian companies do advertise on cnn to be bale to reach nigerian audience. abi wetin una think?
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Official Thread of Free-to- Air Satellite TV [part 3] by olofofo(m): 9:05am On Oct 01, 2009
@all
There's no way that multi tv can encrypt their services without becoming a pay TV operator, I also think that it is very naive of them to think that theirs will be the only mpeg4 receiver in the market, infact i think it is really quite silly.

if it's just about making a specific kind of decoder that only them will sell, then companies like multichoice will not pay millions to irdeto so that their encryption is what they will rely on with their smart cards, neither will HITV rely striclty on conax to enable viewers pay them a monthly subscription.  it is just not done. once you make a particular decoder and it come into the market, someone else from the great wall of china will make another one/a better one that will do the same thing and even more.

The only way they can make money from this venture they are in, is to either become encrypted and collect monthly dues, which will spell doom for them or reach out to regional distributor to become ad collection agencies for them so that they can begin making money from ad sales.

for all those with darsat and strong decoders abeg enjoy ya thing, i really do not think that there is anything to worry about, except maybe they go ahead and try to reduce their footprint to only ghana, in which case a 1m dish will be the solution, as there no way that a satellite beam will be restricted to just ghana as ( apologies to my ghanian friends) ghana is just not that big. the only other option they have is to shut down their services altogether.

on a lighter note, happy 1st independence to NIgeria. yes 1st!! cause it does not seem to be like we are growing.

Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Official Thread of Free-to- Air Satellite TV [part 3] by olofofo(m): 7:39pm On Sep 23, 2009

why go for a mp4/s2 decoder from strong, when u can get an hd/mp4 decoder from kaon. if you ask me, i would say that strong is trying to cash in on the multitv craze. the price to me is not very competitive, except maybe the decoder has extra feature like an internal HDD and so on.

i believe that if we wait a while, they might be forced to bring down the price.
