Politics'my Uncle Was Poisoned' - Audu's Nephew Fingers APC Chieftain In Death by olokfor(op): 5:09pm On Nov 23, 2015
The family of Late Audu Abubakar, former governor of Kogi State and the All Progressives Congress, APC suspect foul play in his death.

https://www.nigerianbulletin.com/data/attachments/44/44460-f68b3abb493cc0bfea81fe6397183b1d.jpg

www.metronaija.com reports that close family members who spoke anonymously revealed that Audu complained of stomach cramps before going to bed on Saturday night. He suffered a stroke on Sunday morning at about 5am and died.

''My uncle was poisoned, he was poisoned'', one of his nephews reportedly said. “He shared a meal with a top APC chieftain from the South West (name withheld) a few days ago. Since then, he has not been himself. His death is planned. It is all about usurping his position.”

PoliticsFour Different Reported Versions Of How Apc's Prince Audu Died by olokfor(op): 5:00pm On Nov 23, 2015
There's still a lot surrounding the death of APC's Kogi gubernatorial candidate, Prince Abubakar Audu.

Until an official announcement has been made, speculations will abound. Here are four reported versions of how the almost-Kogi governor elect died:

According to Premium Times, Prince Audu started complaining of stomach cramps on Saturday, the day of the gubernatorial election.

“He suffered a stroke this morning. Another one occurred this afternoon and that was fatal.”

PM News on the other hand, said he suffered a massive stroke around 3:10 pm on Sunday, and died in his village of Ogbonicha.

He was said to have been vomiting blood at some stage, but was stabilised by doctors around him.

The paper said his condition deteriorated on Sunday morning, and just as an air ambulance was being arranged to transport him for medical attention, he died.

However, Vanguard said he slumped and died after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the result of the election inconclusive.

The Scoop had a more interesting scoop.

The paper quoted Audu's relative to have said: “People rushed him to congratulate him after the elections in the 21 local government areas were announced. In the midst of the commotion, he started gasping for breath.”

In all the different versions of Audu’s death, one thing is consistent- the fact that he suffered a stroke, but the circumstances surrounding his passing remains in doubt.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has reacted to the death of Prince Abubakar Audu.

A statement issued by Olisa Metuh, National publicity secretary of the party said it was 'shocked' by the news.

''The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is shocked by the news of the sudden death of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in last Saturday’s Kogi state governorship election, Prince Abubakar Audu. ''Our deepest thoughts and prayers go to the family of Prince Abubakar Audu and indeed, the APC fold. On this note, the Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus, charges all PDP members in Kogi and across the nation to keep Prince Audu, his family and loved ones in their prayers, as we mourn with them and the people of Kogi state over this monumental loss'', the PDP statement read.

PoliticsN5,000 Stipend: APC Is A Party Of Hypocrites- PDP by olokfor(op): 4:29pm On Nov 05, 2015
Read PDP press statement below...

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says Wednesday’s rejection by APC senators of the N5,000 monthly stipend, which they promised Nigerians during the electioneering, underscores the monumental hypocrisy of their party in getting to power by means of deceit and false promises to Nigerians.

PDP National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh in a statement on Thursday said that the development is a clear confirmation of the fact that the APC is a party of hypocrites, who never had the intentions of honouring any of their campaign promises.

“The PDP declares that it is absolutely obvious to all that the APC came to power riding on monumental lies and deceit in making promises they had no intentions to keep. All they wanted was to get into power and they achieved this with their lying tongues.

“Indeed, the unanimity displayed by the APC senators in rejecting the promised N5, 000 monthly welfare package, especially coming after their party and the Presidency had made futile efforts to distance themselves from it, further stresses the duplicitous spirit of the APC and its reprehensible insensitivity to the feelings and aspirations of Nigerians, especially the unsuspecting youths, women and the indigent, who they shamelessly swindled with false promises.

“From the foregoing therefore, Nigerians should not expect any sincere action from the President Muhammadu Buhari-led APC government on the other promises including monthly allowance to discharged but unemployed NYSC members, free meals and scholarship to school children, free houses, bringing the naira to the same value with the dollar.

“Our position remains that the APC has sufficiently confirmed to the world that they have a lot to learn on the leadership values of honesty, integrity, credibility and forthrightness.

“Finally, we invite Nigerians to note the powers amply vested on them by the constitution under a democracy as we urge them to stand on such powers and hold the APC and its government accountable for all their campaign promises.

Signed:

Chief Olisa Metuh
National Publicity Secretary

SportsSamuel Eto'o's Statement On Boko Haram by olokfor(op): 1:32pm On Oct 29, 2015

Former Cameroon captain Samuel Eto'o is using his fame for a good cause as he has now given a strong statement against the deadly terrorists called Boko Haram ravaging the Northern part of Nigeria. The former Barcelona and Chelsea star has set up the Yellow Whistleblower FC foundation to raise funds and awareness to help people fleeing Nigeria and Cameroon amid the increasing amount of attacks from Boko Haram militants.

Eto’o, says it's time the world stepped up its response to this menace called Boko Haram. The 34-year-old urged leaders and the media to react as they did to the terror attack on the Charlie Hebdo magazine offices in Paris in January.

“It is important for us to talk about it — if we don’t do it, who will? We all tried to offer our support (after Charlie Hebdo). We saw African head of states coming to Paris to offer their support to France." He said in an interview with CNN.

“Why, when it comes to Africa — when it comes to our continent — don’t we do anything? Maybe because the media are not doing what they should do.

“When it comes to Charlie Hebdo, we talk about it. The media were right: It was important to talk about that. However when it comes to Boko Haram, we need to wait for the most horrific things to happen for the media to say a word." said the four-time African player of the year.

“After that, everybody stops talking about it. It is like nothing ever happened.

“I think journalists should have denounced this situation. We saw what happened in France. We were very sad about this. We were asking ourselves, ‘How can this happen? How can they succeed? How can these people take away lives of happy people who had families and friends?'”

“I was affected, like many of my African brothers, by Boko Haram. We haven’t been affected by such horrors in a very long time,” he said. “We are seeing these atrocities and we seem powerless.

“We need to cope with this situation. We need to denounce it and find solutions at our level while our armed forces do their own job on the ground.”

Eto’o said one of the most effective ways to defeat Boko Haram and its ideology would be through education, which he called “the most formidable weapon.”

“We need to create schools and give the possibility to these children to learn and understand,” explained Eto’o, whose illustrious career has taken him to Italy, Spain, Russia, England and Turkey, winning three European Champions League titles. He was reportedly one of the the world’s highest-paid players at Anzhi Makhachkala.

“Some of these children affected by the situation are young and are easily manipulable, and they are manipulated. These children are used and join this terrorist organization.”

Eto’o, who now plays for Turkish club Antalyaspor, said: “We wanted to show the right way to our young brothers, but the ignorance that we have in Africa leads to our own brothers shooting at us.

“When you are African, and you are sometimes better (at something) than Europeans or Americans, you’re not considered African.

“It’s frustrating but you can’t be mad. I refuse to be ignorant. The only message that I want to give is that I want people to have easy access to education.”

The Senate today, October 27, conducted another round of ministerial screening as six nominees answered question raised on the floor of the House.

www.metronaija.com recalls that a little drama took centre stage at the last ministerial screening exercise after former governor of Rivers state Rotimi Amaechi kept PDP senators mum as he answered questions.

In a similar vein, there was a mild drama today when one of the ministerial nominees, Pastor Usani Uguru Usani responsed to a question where he was asked if he has worked with any PDP senators.

Usani’s response: “God Forbid”, was however greeted with extreme repugnance among the PDP senators. But the ministerial nominee was quick to tender an apology for his remark.

In all, 31 ministerial nominees have been screened while 18 have been confirmed as ministers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The 18 confirmed ministers are: Udoma Udo Udoma (Akwa Ibom state), Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti state), Audu Ogbeh (Benue state), Ogbonnaya Onu (Ebonyi state), Osagie Ehanire (Edo state), Abdulrahman Dambazau (Kano state), Lai Mohammed (Kwara state), Amina J Mohammed (Gombe state), Suleiman Adamu (Jigawa state) and Ibrahim Jibril (Nasarawa state), Babatunde Fashola (Lagos state), Dr. Ibe Kachikwu (Delta state), Abubakar Malami (Kebbi state), Chris Ngige (Anambra state), Aisha Jummai Alhassan (Taraba state), Solomon Dalong (Plateau state), Kemi Adeosun (Ogun state), Hadi Sirika (Katsina state).

The power outage lasted just 10 minutes as the lights were restored and the screening continued.
