Yes, the govt might have being insincere with things so far, but the president made the matter a priority and had a meeting with them to settle things. They cane out saying things are positive but the local chapters will have to vote, the vote was conducted and it was in the favour of calling off.. That should be all,suspend d strike, if govt fails to follow up what they said, then continue the strike.. Instead they came out with new negotiations in a secret location just to elongate things...

they should have done this...call off d strike,continue with negotiation..but made d public aware that u are ready to go back to strike.after some time if govt didnt keep part of its bargain.

onyibajoe: With all due respect to Mr President, he shouldn't have allowed Wike to get involved in this whole thing as the only thing he knows how to do is to heat up the polity. The President should have completed what he started. ASUU members are not foreigners. We have all seen that till now, the ASUP who were asked to go back to classroom and they did had to go back on strike due to insincerity and irresponsibilty of the FG. Let us all be mindful that the FG is yet to tell us that of all what ASUU placed as conditions to call-off the strike, this ones we can and the other(s) we can not meet. That is negotiation and I expect it to be treated as one and stop deceiving Nigerians. An effort by ASUU to solidify their achievement is not a bad one. Wike is the "wrongest" person to appear on this screen. Objectively, forcing ASUU back to the classroom is not the best because it won't bring to an end the issue of strike in our tertiary institutions. Our govt is just insensitive to the plights of our students. Who told you it's in our interest that the lecturers be forced to go back to work just like that? Who for do am? Who doesn't know the kind of leaders we have in Nigeria? In my objective view, this matter has been made simple by ASUU. The govt should stop deceiving the people and do the NEEDFUL. I still maintain that the govt is guilty in this whole palava. All those happy about this directive by the govt(Wike) should be ready to embrace the worse strike in history after this. I hope they have bought enough ropes to bundle the lecturers back to classrooms. ASUU is far from the major problems we are facing in Nigeria. Let's be sincere to ourselves. Just wishing Nigeria had an administrator as president.

sagombugo: I thought we have travelled through this thoughtless road before with the UNILORIN expelled lecturers who were reinstated by the Supreme court and the university compelled to pay them all their arrears even after several years just because they stood firm with ASUU!

after how many years?? those unilorin lecturers will till end of their life regretted their actions..,some of.them.died in the.struggle,and even though they were reinstated by court after almost a decade,the university frustated the court injuction,and till today,some of those lecturers remain in limbo..

Fabulousmark: A beautiful 3rd year female student friend of mine just told me this true story of hers in university yesterday.
Before the ASUU strike she was having this palava with a male lecturer from the department of Law in Uniben, and it's kinda hunting her cause when school resumes it's still gonna come back in her face!

It was 3 weeks before ASUU strike, the lecturer asked her for sex but she refused and also insulted the man right there in his office.
The lecturer called her back the next day and promised her that she won't graduate from the school until she pays for a hotel where he gonna have sex with her and after that she's gonna pay him 50,000 naira!

In her words: "I thought he was joking,cause it sounded so funny"
But since then, whenever she(Amaka) writes his exam she fails woefully! She failed his exam 3 times before she decided to go confront him.

She got into his office and met other male lecturers in there, she wanted to go back but the man asked her to state her mission. She complained and asked other lecturers to tell him to stop failing her!

She was so surprised when the other lecturers called her a 'fool' and asked her to do what the main man asked. According to her, She was lost at that moment. . .

She walked outta the office with anger and shame•••At the next exam, she hired a fifth year student from the same department to help her write the exam. She never knew this was her DOOM!

The guy got into the exam hall and started writing for Amaka in bliss TILL the lecturer began looking for her!
The lecturer knew how important the exam was to her and then he figured out that someone else must be sitting for her.

He walked around the hall looking for the impersonator, he later got to the guy's sit and GBAM! Caught him shocked He asked the guy to stand up . . Nwa guy started begging the lecturer not to create a scene or report this.

The lecturer asked him to go call the girl back in the hall! He rushed out and got back with Amaka, Amaka and the guy were so scared at that moment. . The lecturer then asked the boy to tell Amaka to do what he(The lecturer) asked her to do unless he's gonna report this to the school management which will end up expelling the two of them from the school!

Omo ehn, the guy knelt down and begged Amaka to please do whatever the lecturer has asked. . That his future lies in her hands cause he will be graduating this year crying...Amaka was so confused but she refused• luckily,the lecturer gave her a chance to go think about it. Amaka got back home to think about "it" until ASUU strike started.

The lecturer just called her on the phone yesterday about her decision. . She told him to wait till school resumes,Oga lecturer agreed.
After she cut the phone she broke down in tears, that's when I walked in and saw her crying i pleaded with her 4 long before she narrated the story.

I gave her advice like "report it to the school na"... but she said if she does that, it's still gonna be null cause she has no proof and it will look as if she wanna play him out plus the other lecturers will make sure she suffers!

What should she do?? I realy need safest solution 2 ensure her certificate n the impersonator too as she don't want dis old man called lecturer.

There is nothíng you can do since th€ main man has got you on this, the lecturer may be a guest on naìraland or his friends members ör guests too. Í know what i`m talking cos all most all the lecturers @ my location are guests here, you may suceed ín settin up the lecturer but the guy that wrote the exam for you may beat craze man out öf you cos u wil suceed in ending hís care€r. so my own token is.............. To dö what the lecturer wants, since you are not marri€d it wont hurt anybody..... you wil b happy, the lecturer wil be happy...... just 1hr wíl save her all the stress. schöol may resume mönday, so let her start practising all th€ styl€ before monday.. thís may make the lecturer forget the #50k....

wokasor: There is reasonably no need for EBSU to run out of patience. 4 months plus is not a period to toy with. It appears that this school is ready to operate in isolation; nonethelless, the school shall still meet with their branch of ASSU "on the way to calvary".

secondly,haven't you noticed that this strike has turned to a complete joke??,after taking months to reach an agreement with d fg?,whom even make concessions,they suddenly started making fresh demands again....the strike may as well go on till next year with d new developments..

and for those saying their resumption can't worked out..well many people said that during the unilorin saga...they must be biting their lips now..

u don't have the interests of your students at heart and keep them at home for 5 months or so,especially after the governments has also make concessions..and ASUU are really hypocrites ,for the revitalisation of our university system must start within ASUU if they are really keen in adressing the dross,ASUU as an organisation is probably as corrupt as the govt itself

REPORT CULLED FROM VANGUARD NEWSPAPER
The leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, National Executive Council, weekend, met in Kano. The secret meeting,Vanguard gathered lasted from Friday night to Saturday morning.
However, at the end of the meeting, lecturers were not forthcoming with the outcome, which sources say was borne out of the promise made to President Goodluck Jonathan by the union to inform him of its decision before going public.
It was learnt that the NEC meeting which attracted ‘fair representation’ from over 50 universities was held at Mambayya House. Vanguard gathered lecturers were divided on the issue of suspension of the over 5months strike.
The Universities lecturers were conveyed to the venue of the secret meeting in two Coaster buses, secured by the union’s Kano chapter, in order to avoid the attention of the press and public.
A competent source close to ASUU told Vanguard in Kano that “we still have 40 – 60 percent situations here after the meeting; the resolution from the north favours the call off while their peers from the South strongly support the continuation of the strike”.
According to the source, “however , we were able to take a middle course that would be pleasant to Nigerians, but that will not be discussed now at the public:: domain until we meet Mr. President in line with our last discussion”.
Effort to reach Dr Nasiru Fagge, the national President of ASUU was abortive as he failed to pick up calls.

The National Executice Council of the Academic Staff Union of Universities is currently holding a secret meeting in Kano at an undisclosed location.
 A source who spoke to our reporter on condition of anonymity said it is possible  that the union of university lecturers will call off its over-four-month-old strike tomorrow.
 Daily Trust reports that the members of the National Executive Council of ASUU parked their cars in Bayero University, Kano's oldsite and entered a PTF coaster bus to an undisclosed location where the NEC meeting is going on  currently.
