Prettychyna: Hello house,I have been following this thread for sometime now and I must commend everybody for their contributions. please I need your expert opinions, I recently got admitted into texas tech university for fall 2013 for phd in human development and family studies(area of concentration is gerontology).I was also offered graduate assistantship. I have bachelors degree in nursing science. I finished NYSC last year oct and have been working in a private hospital since then. my 1-20 has arrived and am about to book for embassy appointment. Please, I want to know what to expect during the interview.
I applied to 3 schools all in texas but got one admission. I also did both GRE and TOEFLE. Is there need to go with bank statement since I have funding? How is the school? And what are the likely questions to expect? Thanks in advance
U shd still go with financial documents. Besides the GA z not likely to cover all your expenses (tuition + living expenses)

hardworkpays: very educative and informative thread.Nice job guys, though I was lucky to get my visa on first try without knowing of this website but the information here is very valuable to anyone seeking to study in the USA.Just do your homework very well and pray hard and with a bit of favor you will get there. When I got my visa, the account balance on the bank statement I took to the embassy was 1.57 million naira, school required at least 5.4 million naira as shown in I-20.However through the favor of God the visa officer did not ask me anything concerning how am going to fund my education, I did not show him my bank statement eventually, just a couple of question and I got it in two minute.
I think you should change your handle to LUCKpays or GODpays depending on your 'religiosity' grin

Snazzygirl: Hello House, I would like to know how many months a person who works and only has time to read once a week needs to fully prepare for GRE. Estimates will be just fine. Thnks guys.
It depends on a lot of other things - how good you are at aptitude tests (IQ), how fast you can grasp new stuff, your command of english, arithmetic skills anf ofcourse, your target score. Imho, however, once a week z too infrequent for the average person. I prepared for close to 3 mths, 2-3hrs everyday and i felt i still wasnt ready. i fink d deal is intensive reading for a short time (2-3 mths) so you dont forget things you learnt early

TV/MoviesRe: 5 Annoying Things Nigerians Do In Cinemas by olsmade(m): 2:16pm On Mar 27, 2013
5. Standing up minutes before the movie ends. Some Nigerians just don't get the full value of what they pay for simply because they lack patience. Take for instance the blockbuster movie The Avengers which had some added movie footage after the credits. Other notable movies with added footage include, THOR and Fast Five. It wouldn't hurt to just sit tight for another 3 minutes just to be sure that you haven't missed a sneak preview into any possible sequels. Or don't they even want to know the name of that really good actress with the nice butt and sexy accent or the hunk with the biceps and piercing blue eyes? (for example). I frankly don't care if they stay or go but they usually disrupt my viewing pleasure as they make no attempt to crouch as they pass in front of me - inconsiderate bunch of *#@%?!!

Alas, I have come to the end of my intended rant. If you've been a victim then I'm sure you can relate to this article. If you have other annoying things people (not necessarily Nigerians) do in the movie theaters then please spill the magic beans wink[/quote]i agree with all except this. Creditshuh Like srzly?

Anthonymighty: I was only giving him examples of their recognized exams. His school requirements will tell him which of them to write. Besides if you do GRE/GMAT and pass very well dont you think the VO would be impressed that an Undergrad passed a graduate exam very well. He might just give him visa without asking any question again....You never can tell buddie. grin

Anthonymighty: Waec?? No i dont think they will..its schools that ask for that before admission not embassy..And that is Also the more reason why you have to write there own recognized exam: SAT/TOEFL/GRE/GMAT just do one of 'em all. so you show them that... when they ask "did you take any exam" cheers buddie
GRE/GMAT bawo? Undergraduate studies fa!!
