PoliticsRe: Emir Sanusi Orders Sharia Commission To Return Ese To Bayelsa by olsmade(m): 4:36pm On Feb 29, 2016
I am a Muslim and I do not know the details of this case but I will drop my 2 cents anyways. From what I gather, he married this underage girl withouth her parents' consent.

That reason, in and of itself, invalidates this 'union' on Islamic grounds.

Secondly, getting married to an underage girl violates the law of the land (I hope) so he is culpable (and should face the music) or isnt there a minimum age in Nigeria below which girls cannot legally consent to sexual intercourse or marriage?

Why on God's green earth will I say arrest Tompolo. Tompolo's case is a clear political witch-hunt. Yinusa is a paedophile.

Tompolo sold land to government.
Yinusa kidnapped and had unlawful sexual relations with a 14 year old minor.

Your sense don cake....

Pray, tell me about it. Tompolo sold land to the government??!!!!

Man read the post again now. The headline clearly states Remi Tinubu and not Bola Tinubu. I fail to get your point.
I did not realize that. On FP, it says Tinubu's wife says blah blah. I guess the Mods felt that was a more sensational thread title.

They may be fornicating, but thinking of getting a new wife is just so difficult for them.

EFCC should face their primary assignment by arresting and prosecuting our politician. This is the problem of we Africa, we like taking panadol for someone else headache. When last did FBI, Interpol or any of their yeye agency paraded any White for their crime on Africa soil. Millions of Barrel of crude oil continuing to leave our shore to their land, Trillions of stolen money in their various bank and yet they are doing nothing and when they claimed they are helping they will release 1 out of 10. Abacha loot is a clear example. I am not supporting SCAM but Oyinbo are not saint too.
I had to login to reply to your comment. You are a disgrace to Nigeria. You and all the people supporting you. Tarnishing the image of the country all over and blaming everything on politicians. You are the problem with Nigeria. You are the reason foreigners mock Nigerians as all of us being African princes. Yeye. Until we begin to see wrong as wrong, no change can happen in that zoo called Nigeria. 1000 buharis cannot change Nigeria if we ourselves are not willing to change. Nonsense jati jati.

lol @ naming after 7 days. But Nigeria is better than some other places fa.

I have a haitian friend who had twins and didnt name them till they were 6 months. I dont think that is an issue. It's not like the baby can respond to the name before 7 days anyway.

about the guys and church one, lol. That is totally true.

During my NYSC, I had a friend who saw this pretty undergrad in the town we were serving in and got interested. He started finding stuff out about her but didnt have any mutual friends. He however managed to find out what church she was attending and started going to church religiously (excuse the pun). A couple weeks later, I was driving around 8 a.m. and he was going in the opposite direction and lo and behold the babe was in the front seat. we both stoppend and moved out of the road and he came over. I was like haha, na madam be that? and he was like, I am going to drop her off. Case closed.

THAT YOUR RACIST PART IS FALSE, YOU MAY SAY WE ARE TRIBALISM IN NATURE, BUT NOT RACIST
I agree 200%. Nigerians are extremely tribalistic. Ibo cant marry yoruba. Hausa cant marry ibo. Ilorin cant marry offa. Egba cant marry Ijebu. Whew. It is so annoying. It is a narrative you can find on almost every single thread on NL. Our brothers on the other side. Our Ibo brothers are at it again. Our Southwest brothers are at it again. Yoruba women are dirty. What hurts the most is that these are our contemporaries. At this age, we are still tribalistic? Se na like this e go dey dey? I rest my case.

UrennaNkoli:
If it was a white man selling the corn and a black man approached him to buy and he said 'nìgga wetin you wan buy?" will you term it as racism from the white man or not?
Ofcourse that is racism. It is never appropriate to use the n-word. It is even less so when it is used by a white person. And although a lot of white people are racist, you almost never hear them stoop so low. It is in Nigeria that in the name of wanting to sound cool that people just throw around the n-word like it's nothing. In the west, you almost never hear anybody use it and definitely not non-black people to black people.
TravelRe: 24 Things I Learnt While In Nigeria by olsmade(m):
The examples you gave with the chinese are not racism. Rather, I'd say it is lack of manners. Racism means looking down on people of other races. In Nigeria, it is quite the opposite. The average Nigerian thinks of peeople from other races as superior and would go to almost any length for them.

Lawd gawd !!!! The first decision you need to make is to get self worth !!!! N250khuh?? That's like $8 per hr job in US...lower than minimum wage !!!! And you have an MSc from UK and UShuh? Even if you are flipping burger in McDonald you will earn more than that. Set higher bar for yourself, life is a risk. Better to live with mistakes than to die of regrets ! Brush up your cv and get a good internship with a company here that can lead to permanent job and stay ! You know your earning potential with MSc is $60k and above..that's roughly N1m a month compared to your N250k.
Exactly. I wouldn't even consider it for half a second. With all his qualifications, he will definitely find a job in the U.S. At all at all na hin bad. U.S. Is not UK na. And no job, as e fit bad reach, will pay you that low in the U.S. after tax except you are flipping burger

Something similar happened to me last week. I requested an uber and driver turned out to be Nigerian. I was happy and then he asked what religion I was. I told him that im muslim and then he started preaching to me. OMG! He said very disrespectful things about my religion. Only Jesus can save you blah blah and kept inviting me to church. I was so mad. Nigerians just don't have sense and courtesy once they hear religion/morality.

I agree with him on this. Just take it one step at a time. And to answer your question, it depends on a lot of factors - the calibre of schools you r applying to, the number of schools etc. Some schools require you to pay a deposit b4 issuing their I-20 and this could go as high as $600 but 200k shd be enuf i.e. if you av not spent in on other things when time comes for i20 and visa interview

Amefrica: pls ooo.. i couldnt get answer to my questiom from previous parts.. what r the things i need to get I20, i want to go for my bsc dis year at the university of minnesota.. pls time is flying
This year?? That's very unlikely? Only very few schools are still accepting applications for fall 2013. Besides, u av not written any standardised tests. My advice is to first write SAT and/or Toefl; research good schools for your intended major (abi you no get?); Apply against Spring or Fall 2014.

NB - by good, you av to consider reputation, cost, location, international - student friendliness etc

GRE is a computer based test meaning u can decide to write it anytime u r game. On your oda question, if u score abysmally low in the GRE, then the VO might start asking questions which essentially defeats the purpose. Just put in a lil effort and u shd easily get in the 1200 range which is fair enough.

8. Pls bear wit ma questions as I'm really a tyro in dis gre, toefl and U.S skuls stuffs.
I wil really appreciate it if my questions wil be answered
Lemme try and answer some of your questions
1. There is no one size fits all answer for this question. Write when you think you av prepared enough, but remember, just like any exam, you will always feel you ain't ready. I took mine over 2yrs b4 I applied.
2. Toefl is easier than the GRE. You can write in any order, doesn't change much.
3. I guess dats already answered selfstudy360@gmail.com
4. Depends on a lot of factors - your scores, experience, S.O.P and availability of funds in the school. But it's possible
5.
6.
7. It's late for fall 2013 but not for spring or fall 2014
8. I don't know tha answer to this grin

Yea, I finally settled for Emirates. Paid N136,000 ($856). I also chose window seats for the first to Dubai (Boeing 777-300ER) and second flight to JFK (Airbus A380 800). I didn't see a seat selection option for the last flight to Baltimore.
U got ur visa?
