creativehubb: According to your obas yorubas are the first man on earth, igbos are yorubas
You people are known liars, even your obas...Ile'Ife is a weak town created by a Benin Prince, Aworis are ancestrally Benin...the delusions of grandeur of your tribe is just fables. Oba of Benin stated categorically, Benin empire, kingship have nothing to do with Yoruba, rather our prince created Ile'Ife.
Erelu Dosunmu will tell you she is ancestrally Benin, Oba of Lagos will tell you same, because they know the truth, we took obaship into southwest...Oba'to kpe'e. I'se has been the praise slogan of our kings since time immemorial, is that a Yoruba word?
If you are not great don't try to share in our glory, you people always like attachment.
Even today the greatness of the Benin empire exists, you can see it...compare your Ooni to our Oba, it will tell you a lot, your obas that lie anyhow, only you yorubas listen to them...show me any sign of Yoruba greatness in history, I mean real greatness...you people were singing praises to Oba of Benin, worshipping him, as your creator.
your oduduwa is our Benin Prince. Humans don't fall from the sky.
Educated slowpoke. Ignorance is a big disease. Had you known that even there are fulani Yorubas, Hausa Yorubas, Arab Yorubas, Tuareg Yorubas , Tapa Yorubas, Borgu Yorubas, Akan Yorubas, Egun Yorubas, Suriname Yorubas, European Yorubas, Americas Yorubas etc, you wouldn't cry over a spill milk. absoluteSuccess: The reward
There are 16 ancient chapters of Ifa, each is coined from words derived from recess of classic events in ancient Yoruba history. For instance, the sixth chapter of Ifa is named "owonrin meji". The question is, what is owonrin?
Well it's a good piece of clause. However, owonrin has fascinated our fathers of old and priests of ancient Yoruba who have tried to interpret the clause with anecdotes to be found in Ifa.
One of such systematically interpret owonrin in half as "scarcity". But going by the sense of the phrase, owonrin doesn't have anything to do with scarcity.
Rather, owonrin simply implies "iron breaker". That's a phrase that has been formed from the ancient Yoruba idea of divine justice, a strong hero that cannot be shackled in iron or imprisonment.
Now, going by this discovery, the thought that a shackle breaker tradition exist in Yoruba of old validate my claim on ateworo.
The bolded is the context from where the phrase owonrin was coined. The verb is almost obsolete.
Won as "break" is the source code for Owonrin, combined with irin, Yoruba for iron. The phrase became an entry in Ifa as of old.
The priests of old could not break the phrase because the source of the phrase has to be known before it can be decrypted. Great effort though seeing your zeal to always inform. But, Owonrin, is more of letting the past be for a solidifying the present and things to come. My widow's might |

creativehubb: It's fallacy, a figment of your imagination...just the same way your Oba claimed igbos emanate from yorubas
Sorry our heritage speaks for itself, the glories, the facts...from controlling the passage way to Lagos down to the 18th century, to controlling swathes of tribes, down to Dahomey, and to the borders of Ghana, and to the other side, conquered down to Onitsha, all these are facts. If Aworis paid us tax, clearly shows the reality ...Aworis are princes from Ile'Ife.
History revisionism can't work with the Benin empire.
The Benin moat, the Benin great wall, listed in the guiness book of records(longest stretch of city wall in the world), and still existing today, are testament of who we are and the greatness... evidence!
Old man You are not even a good liar. Better learn the fact. The moat you claim is dated ? You have no heritage without Yorubas. Oba bini is a Yoruba man. Even Ogiameh families from Bini who are the original Owodo link lineage stated it with even protest. Bunch of liars, Ogbogbodirin Obalufon was the one who was on the throne after Ogun was rebelled against by some of the Elus and he fled when Oranmiyan invaded Igodomigodo from Usen. To mention some Ibos to be part of Yorubas ancestrally are plausible. Even Hausa, Nupe, Fulanis, Tuareg, Berbers,Arabs, Semitic people, Europeans etc share DNA link with Yorubas. Go check the history of Yoruba relationship history with the world to have a fill on it. Your 4×4 kingdom got her glory from Yoruba civilization through Yoruba descendants from a Prince of Ileife. |

Ologbo147: A man that went as far as Asaba did not go to Ile-Ife. You must think you are talking to a neophyte.
The thing is that Oduduwa has metamorphosed into different things by different Yoruba authors. Some would say he is from the Middle East, some said he is a goddess, only very recently the narrative that he is from Oke-Ora came up and it is also a mythical one.
That he is a Yoruba king is a false narrative. It is anchored on this same myth we found to be untrue Tell me something, was West Africa inhabited twenty thousands years ago with Dna or fosil human proof ? Either Oduduwa means different thing to different authors, the fact remains that Ileife version is the right information on him. And he ruled as Ooni ileife He wore Ade Are crown which symbolises absolute authority as the supreme king over all other lower kings in ileife before descendants of these other lords and Oduduwa descendants moved out of ileife to reestablish newer settlements. Besides, information on linguistic comparison has shown Yorubas have heavy semitic input which proofs connection to the Near East. Furthermore, Dna trait has shown that Yoruba ancestors once lived in Northern Europe about twenty thousands years (20000)ago which proofs migratory tendency as hunter gatherers. So semitic historical link is plausible. |

The fact that this your Oduduwa from Ife is a Yoruba myth is not debatable. She is an Ife goddess, you guys trying to turn her into a man is delusional, trying to feed your low and almost non existent esteem a sense of superiority by claiming cultures and kingdoms which are far above your reach Lol . You are quoting a man who never had been to ileife. Ogun Ayinla(Samuel Ajayi Crowther) does not know who Oduduwa is. So, it is easy to quote such a man who did well in some areas but blundered on Oduduwa and Ooni identity. Take time to read Professor Akinjogbin to proof to you that Oduduwa was a man made king in the entire ileife. He and his group, included Orunmila deposed Obatala in the physical affair of ileife for him to be made the overall king. Even, the Itapa festival at ileife supported the wrestle of power between oduduwa and obatala. He married and had many daughters and few male descendants Your own Oba is a Yoruba king. Period |

UMUAZEE: What does your Ife Ifa corpus mention about Bini and why would it mention many things about Bini? It definitely doesn't say Ife sent Oranmiyan to Bini or that Bini asked ife for a ruler. It is very likely that Bini is an important part of Ife's foundation that is why ifa corpus would mention Bini, it recognizes the importance of Bini to Ife. Oh yes! There were ifaodu corpus on Bini which was an integral part of ileife Suzerainty . Bini became a powerful Kingdom when bilateral trade contact was estabished with Portuguese in which there were access to dane gun. This triggered the plausible expansion to few Yoruba Eastern settlement which shortlived . Unfortunately, the ifaodu corpus is not meant for here as such because such spirituality belonged to the initiates, hence, I cannot over emphasise such stanzas. |

Ologbo147: you are so quick to point out a fable but you can’t see how weak the argument is that a people will invite total strangers out of a people they know nothing about. There was/is nothing like Ifa in Edo.
I should be the one laughing and not you at your story usually devoid of logic but I am not a clown who just laughs without facts and downplay other people’s history if It doesn’t fit your Yoruba mythical laced history.
What treaty are you talking about? There was no treaty, our ancestors wrote no agreement.
Urhonigbe’s history is not fable, till today its size is over 855 kilometers square of land. It was the largest town in the whole Benin kingdom by size larger than precolonial Benin city which was mere 250 kilometers square. Benin City was a city of seven gates while that of Urhonigbe was ten because it was obviously bigger. Yes it was the city of warriors and it is still the city of warriors. To show how, In many of the their festivals, they still observe the wrestling bout called Eeven They also probably had the largest military post in the whole of the Bini empire outside that of uromi.
I don’t see what is fable about a town of ten gates, ten doors if not that you are just been plain silly or anything you can’t insert Yoruba inside does not matter to you. That’s the meaning of the name of the town in the first place. Urho~means doors, Igbe~means ten. That is basically the name of their town. And Indeed they are warriors, it reflects in their build. I can stake my money you can’t beat an Urhonigbe man that grew up in Urhonigbe in a wrestling bout. They practice it yearly there and they rehearse upfront several months each year for it. It is not a small place my brother, it was estimated to be close to 100,000 in the year 2000. It is certainly up to now or more in population. You can read that article below to confirm the land size and the population of the place. Paragraph 8. Mind you that article was written in the year 2000
I am not subverting anything, I just used sheer logic for you, the fact that they did not get to Ethiope does not mean it has not been there. It is only when you go to a place you discover, what if you don’t go, you are limited with the knowledge you have from where you went to. It’s simple logic. There’s very little or no eye witness accounts for Urhonigbe. The spread from Urhonigbe and the reverence it is given at Urhonigbe. It is so easy to see who borrowed from the Other. Ethiope was like the lifeblood of Urhonigbe for several centuries, it was their water source maybe their only water source, i believe that’s how the reverence grew in ancient times
That is Oral history my friend, there is no archaeological evidence to prove that. And besides these people do take the migration of a few set of “important” individuals into their communities as the migration of the entire community.
What is basically Olokun. It’s worship of a body of water, it’s not more than that. Aside the name that looks Alike, it’s what any group can evolve on their own. Urhonigbe has no tradition of borrowing from Anywhere even if you put a gun to their head
Okun symbolically means a lot of things from abundance, to wealth, prosperity, endless wealth etc. The late captain Hosa’s daughter that is married to the Olu of Warri is by name Okun. Okun is the word for sea, generally large body of water , Eze is the word for river, that’s why Ethiope is called so because it’s considerably larger than ikpoba, ovia, ogba etc. Urhonigbe named it so. That further strengthens the claim that urhonigbe Originated this worship for the Bini people Olokun means lord or owner of the sea, Olo is used everyday in Benin with perfect sense, if you have stayed at least a day in Benin, you will know this, eg ole-bread, Oli-ize, Olo-Alubara, Ole-tomatoes, Ole-eyen,etc means owners of those products selling it.
If a 70 and beyond old Edo man travel to Libya and sees the Mediterranean, what will come out from his mouth is not Eze but Okun because of its size.

The last question I would love to ask you is this bearing this fact in mind. 1. The dictionary you went to check that talked about the fact that River Ethiope is Olokun was written in 1937. As at this time, the Oba and Benin kingdom was still in the western region. Yoruba-philic origin of the Benin stool was still flying around. If the Oba of Benin at this time consented to the fact that river Ethiope and not Ughoton river is Olokun then it indeed is. This is some of the purest form of truth that could come out for it have come out 85 years ago. He does not want to take what is Urhonigbe and give it to another tribe.
2. Egharevba is a heavily influenced Yoruba man, aside the fact he grew up in eastern Yoruba land and for the first time when he was 18 in 1911 came down to Benin city. Again his mother is also Yoruba. He supervised this work, you can check the preface. For him to have assented that River Ethiope is Olokun shows indeed it is
Edo is far mightier than your entire existence. So you can see this dictionary was made 26 years! before the Oba of Benin left the western region. So stop trying to write like the dictionary was written yesterday because of you to counter your story Which ten gates ? You post childlike. Tge same Bini that had no known iron smelting setup before arrival from Ileife ? Archeological carbon dating fthese mysterious Ten gates willbe interesting to to learn from. You people are funny because you all think Oduduwa was just one individual when infact there were many oduduwas in Yoruba Ifaodu history. What truth ? A big lie about Ethiokpe in your defence. Unfortunately Ethiokpe was not in existence 1485/1486 when the Port Ughotton was been used by Portuguese to do bilateral tade with Bini kingdom. This is well documented by European scholars . That Olokun was already in Ethiope long before it got to Ughoton is not in doubt, they have a full festival in urhonigbe.
Get your logic right, that the Europeans did not discover it in Ethiope does not mean it has not been in existence in Urhonigbe. Infact there is very little eye witness accounts on urhonigbe as a whole. Through oral accounts, we know that Urhonigbe is Olokun and Olokun is Urhonigbe
For the fact that all Bini eastern communities that celebrate the Ekaba festival lay claim to deriving it from Urhonigbe and not Ughoton tells of its solidity in Urhonigbe.
Lastly for the fact that the mightiest Olokun shrine in Edo state is in Urhonigbe tells of the fact that if there is any community that got it from the other, it is certainly Ughoton that got it from Urhonigbe Stop posting lies. Which Olokun was in Ethiokpe ? Revisionism at the peak with these bunch of Edo people. As far as the Southern part of Edo is,Oranmiyan was in Igodomigodo as at 1170 AD, and that was how Ifa found its way into Igodomigodo land. Infact, foreigners that invaded Igodomigodo made the likes of Urhobo,Isoko elope to farther side of Edo which is now Niger Delta. Today we know of the treaty between Oba Bini and the Ogiames. Ologbo147: Ogun must have been a god borrowed into the Edo socio-religious lifestyle long before the Oba emerged on the throne. The Oza as a word there is Oza through and through. The fact that Ogun was borrowed does not change the fact that this statement is referring to Oza.
Well as for the Olokun, the Urhonigbe people does not agree with you that it was borrowed, other eastern Bini traditions seem to corroborate where their Olokun worship came from. To them, Olokun is the lifeblood of Urhonigbe town just as Nile is to Egypt.
The worship of Olokun in Urhonigbe land is far older than the One for Ughoton. In fact the biggest Olokun shrine in Edo state is in Urhonigbe. Urhonigbe as also a town historically and in age is also prime years above Ughoton.
You can see some of your mutilations below. What is Logi’olokun. Basically all websites online presented it as Ovbi Olokun. Is it the Elimidu that i have basically not seen online before. Is it the several words you mutilated that you obviously cannot interpret if not for the fact that it is online where you copied verbatim from.
You can see how i dissected it syllables by syllables. Your modifications are vivid below, what is Enoniyangbon. There is no better word for desperation my brother The Olokun being associated at Gwatto was with Oba Bini. Ethiope was not known as Olokun in 1486 as a thriving port water to be known as a port of somesort by Portuguese Diplomats sent to Bini land. Olokun is not a river from the worship at Gwatto. So,fusing Ethiope into Olokun may not be farfetched. Finally, since you are the one who interpreted to fit what you perceive as near your linguistic colouration. |

Ologbo147: Ovbi umogun’Oza~the child of one whose mother is from Oza not Ola beside Edo has the ol word, i don’t see why it would be modified to Oz again when there is a reputable Oza community in Edo whose historical tradition traces the mother of Oba Ewuare to Oza.
Ovbi’Ekpen’owa~the child of the home leopard. Ovbi is child in Edo. Ekpen is leopard in Edo, it’s not the same with Yoruba, Owa is house in Edo. I don’t think it is the same with yoruba which is Ile.
Ovbi Adimula ~Again Ovbi means child in Edo, Adimula is the strange word. But again some historians has traced Uhe to Igala which is a Yoruboid language.
Abieyuwa N’Ovbi’Odua’N’Uhe~Abieyuwa is a full Edo word, the literal translation is the one wey dem born inside wealth, it cannot be interpreted in another language, it has its life in Edo. Ovbi as i have explained before is a word for child in Edo . Again the word Odua and Uhe is not certain to have come from Ife. Some historians has traced this Odua and Uhe to the middlebelt which seem to be more plausible than Ife.
Ovbi Ada,Ovbi Eben, ~ Ovbi i say again is a word for child in Edo. Ada and Eben are scepters of authority in the palace of the Oba of Benin.
Ovbi Ekene kene ma deyo ~ Ovbi i say again is the word for child in Edo. Deyo as a word is used to refer to putting something off. Ya du kpa ni yo means go and put off that light. Do-eyo directly means put it off. Ma deyo. Means it did not go off. Ma negates the activity of deyo. That is where never fades comes into play. Ekene kene seem to be something associated with beauty that is only used in relation to the Oba of Benin.
Ovbi Ekuaho n’Olo Ovbi Ekuabo n’Olo~ the brave and powerful, the rocky arm. It is actually the other way round. OBO means hand in Edo Ekuabo means a mighty or rocky hand.
Ovbi Ikpianbo kpuru no gbo oduma ~ The son of the short fingered man who killed a lion. -Obo is hand in Edo, ikpianbo means little part of the hand. Kpuru means to be brief or short in Edo. No gbe oduma means the one that killed a lion. The Oduma in Yoruba totally mean something strange and it is not related to lion.
Nohien utete no ghughe sowman ~ to hien is to climb, Utete is a high place which gives one an edge of overseeing everything above everyone. Ughe means to look. Ghughe is an action word which means looking. Se is an Edoid word for better, bigger etc. that is where the Urhobo “Ose “ is from. Example Ikhian Tu ma no Ose maya. I am going to cry to someone that is beyond me and you whether by virtue of age, status, etc. owman is the word for a human being in Edo. Basically It literally translates to the one that climbs a high place and see better than everyone.
Ovbi Oghonwman nei bun Aro- the literal translation in Edo means the child of the one who looks at someone with out batting his eyelid. Which then translates to mean the one who is fearless.
Ovbi Ode Ode no’han ren mu ete~ Ode Ode as a word here is a symbolic expression. It means “he dae come “ he dae come” . It’s a symbolic expression that describes one whom everyone watches out for and is afraid of. Ohan means fear in Edo. Ete is like an enemy or set of persons not desired.
Uku Akpokpolo ~ kpolo is a word for big in Edo. Eg Osakpolor ~means God is big, Edokpolor~Means Edo is big, etc Uku is an igbo word word for great.
Obvi Adolo no dolo uwa dolo utowmen ~ the child of Adolo that brings wealth and longevity. Ovbi again is an Edo word for child. Adolor is an Edo name, it means the one that repairs literally, Uwa is wealth in Edo language, Utowmen is longevity.
Ovbi Oven Owie no’gbaisi-ovbi is child in Edo, Oven is sun in Edo, Owie is sun in Edo, nogbaisi is also an Edo interpretation. It means whose influence is felt everywhere.
Agbaghe N’Ovbi’Olokun~ the literal translation of Agbaghe means let us go and look together . Ovbi’Olokun. ~the son or child of Olokun. It’s a full Edo word
There is nothing like Enoniyangbon. It’s Enoyangbon. It is a full Edo which means the owner of the world.
Elimidu~ i did not see this one online, I even checked, if for any reason, it is part of it, it is not even close to the nonsense you wrote there, it would forever be close to the Edo Eriwmin ~du and the Esan Eliwmin~du which means a son of the spirit of the land.
Ogie No gbo wman Ede nuwukhowman ~ the meaning of it is the king who kills someone when that person is not ready to die.
Ovbi akpogunla , ogie no yi gho b’owa ~Ovbi means child in Benin, akpogunla is the strange word there, Ogle no yi gho bowa is a full Edo word, the king that builds his house with money. Which can further be interpreted to mean the one who decorated his house with money. Cowries in those days.
Ovbi' otolo n'olomi; Ologberonmwon nei rie iruen, ebo, ayemwinre eminiminimini. Some parts of this word is strange. Ovbi , nei rie iruen , Ebo, ayewminre, eminimini mini. Ologberowmon, Are all Edo words. because of the 90 percent comprehension that can be gotten from this word, I would assume the other one is an ancient Edoid word lost in history. ~
The literal sensible translation to this is ~ the son of the water controller, the son of beauty himself, the starter of things and the person whose reign left many people in awe.
These are Edo words that cannot be translated or interpreted by Yoruba. If not that it’s scattered over the internet which you copied from and made your selfish modifications to suit your selfish narrative.
There are two of them which are Yoruboid and it certainly came from the middlebelt which is Igala which so 4 and 24.
All those wordings are all Edo save for 4 and 24 s There are words inter woven inthe praise as loan words. Ogun is a Yoruba aname. I made selfish modification? How ? Many of these praises are of Oba Bini Courryard and not mine. Olokun is full Edo word ? Itis a Yoruba word oo with so many evidence. Olokun is Lord of the who had a daughter Aje. Beside, Ifa is also Olokun (Asorodayo) There is Gwatto account documented in 1485/86 by European traders with Bini Kingdom that stated Oken Olokun is chief of Gwatto and priest of Olokun ( -Barros, J.D. Da Asia (Lisbon, 1552) appropiation who was a descendant of Ekarlederan who founded Gwatto and died there Beside those irregularities in lettering are natural typo error so, it does not count. As far as those praise exist. Are you aware there was early 1900s account by Richard. E. Dennett; which support the fact that Oba Bini ascertained he was one of the praisename of Oduduwa Adimula Igbakeji Orisa ? These praises are forever praises of Yoruba King in Igodomigodo turned Bini Land. Enjoy these fact |

UMUAZEE: If Yoruba have praise names for the Oba of Benin it's because He conquered and ruled them, so it makes sense for your tribe to praise their conqueror.
The only historical evidence of colonization is Benin colonization of Lagos and half of Yoruba land and I believe your ancestors where in the part of yoruba we colorized.. Funny Lad. Seem you cannot comprehend my point ? Yorubas didn't give Oba Bini any praise names. It was Bini Royal Courtyard that praise Oba Bini ancestral praise names of his Yoruba ancestry which was documented by an Author who researched it and established this fact. Bunch of absolute liars. |

creativehubb: Talk facts speak intelligently, a people that had a set system of crowning kings will go beg for a king?
You are talking fables, your timeline is wrong hence your submission is false and myths, Benin empire began in AD 900, 1170 AD is about 200 years later, no Yoruba man ever ruled Benin, this is neither reasonable or logical, that a people with an established set of kingship will go looking for a king outside, and oduduwa falling from the sky bla bla bla, is all fables, the person you call your god oduduwa was a Benin prince called Ekaladeran, that is why his son oranmiyan was allowed to rule Benin only temporarily, but he too was later expelled by the king makers in Benin because they felt they needed a prince that was born, raised in Benin, his father the person you call oduduwa called Ekaladeran in Benin, is a Benin Prince that was exiled, he bore him (oranmiyan) outside Benin with a foreign woman, hence the kingmakers eventually booted Oranmiyan out.
Ekaladeran went and resided in an area known as Uhe (ife) then, and Ile'Ife today, after being exiled following a Palace intrigue or tussle...then the area was a forest uninhabited, no Ile'Ife kingdom yet, these were the beginning times, when Oduduwa or Ekaladeran's father died, he was the heir to the throne, so king makers sent emissaries to search for him, then he had became prominent in the area he settled, known as Uhe (ife) then, and called Ile'Ife now, when they asked him to return to become king after his father, because the strict hereditary system must be followed, as they already had kings and an established hereditary system of kingship, but due to old age or the oath he made of never setting foot in Benin again, he sent his son Oranmiyan to become king in his stead...our empire was earlier, bigger and stronger than Ile'Ife's.
Yorubas twisted this narrative to suite their ego, your fathers lie to you, if it doesn't make sense, it can't be true. At that time ile'ife was not established yet, the whole area was forest and pocket of inhabitants. 'Oduduwa' was a Benin Prince.
To know Edo state was ahead of ile'ife and Yoruba culture, you will observe that today, not one single Yoruba language is spoken in Edo state, all the artistry and bronze work created in Benin depicted Benin kings, Queens and Symbols, not one depict ile'ife kings or symbols, if you ruled a place you would influence them, but rather it's the Edo people that influence Yoruba. Secondly the Aworis Ile'Ife princes paid taxes to Benin warriors to gain access into Lagos, if ile'Ife and Benin had such connection they won't have to pay. Use.your head, if it doesn't make sense, it's not true. Saying oduduwa fell from the sky etc, is all fables, all the Yoruba stories shared on this topic are fables.
How can the Benin people that have had several kings suddenly wake up and go get an outside king?
Why isn't t the ile'Ife influence seen in our artworks, language, culture or traditions?
How did the Ile Ife people come into Benin, when at that point of the creation of Benin, there was no organized state in the area Ile' Ife is now, just forests and pockets of people. Are you saying Edos and yorubas are one, I don't understand how yorubas emerged in the midst of Edo people, there is quite a distance between the two geographical location.
To occupy and rule a people as strong and stubborn as the Benin you needed to wage a war and capitulate them, no such history of war between Yoruba and Benin exists.
Why are they no indegenous Edos in youruba land, and yorubas in Edo, since time immemorial. Stop this dumb talk and face reality, don't claim our glory.
Yorubas were part of the slaves, including igbos that the Benin kingdom used to build his city wall, benin moat etc. Benin people were conquerors, very proud, it will take a battle and it's capitulation for them to allow outsiders rule them, but the only people known to defeat them are the British.
You people should stop listening to fables of oduduwa coming from the sky, the person you call oduduwa was a Benin prince. Benin empire's greatness and strength precede ile'Ife, in terms of where it stretched to and influence, going all the way to Lagos, South east fringes and Dahomey.
Listen to what Erelu dosumu said about the Benin empire collecting taxes from Aworis, if truly Ile'Ife had such clout over Benin they won't pay tax. This is an interview, verifiable, not stupid fables, the strong tax the weak not the other way round. Benin people and yorubas never had such close relationship the way you people make it seem, don't steal our glory. Be proud of your own history, or is it not big or fascinating enough, lol.
Read the interview- https://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/12/benin-people-owned-lagos-aworis-paid-royalties-erelu-abiola-dosunmu/amp/ Oh I see. Yes there was a king system but not Obaship. It was called Ogisos(hip) I guess I am chatting with a young person to tell me there is no single words of Yoruba in Bini lexicon? But panegyric of Oba Bini mentioned Adimula. A yoruba praise name for king. Kindly get information correctly cos I am not ready to engage in a frivolous juxtaposition from you. |

UMUAZEE: Confused set of people. Does your newly found history make sense to you? Yoruba say Oranmiyan is son of Oduduwa and Oduduwa's lineage sits on Ife throne. Is Obalufon Oduduwa's son? Ife throne was founded by an Edo prince.. I ask you question . Did Ekarlederan lived or existed in 1100AD ? I mean during the time Oranmiyan came to Igodmigodo.. If yes, Obalufon 1 was on the throne. Infact, it only burst Edo liars that Oduduwa was on the throne as at this period. Obalufon is different family entirely from Oduduwa-Ogun-Oranmiyan outrightly. Ileife history and families will tell you these. This is one of the reason Yorubas laugh at you people when you claim Oduduwa was Ekarlederan.. Interestingly, Oba Bini oriki/panegyric never claimed to Ogiso but Yoruba's praise names. Does this not make mockery of you people ? Here are the praise names of Oba Bini with Yoruba colouration : Appellation of Oba Bini. 1. Ovbi Umogun Oza : The child of Oba whose mother hailed from ola 2. Ovbi Ekpen N'owa: The son of leopard. 3. UMUAZEE: You are actually the confused one here. His write was about the true identity of Oduduwa and as he rightly said, Oduduwa is a Benin prince. Oduduwa was already dead when Igodomigodo had opportunity to beg ileife to help resolve the problem of chaos. Obalufon 1 alias "Ogbogbodirin" was on the throne during 1100s before Oranmiyan used Usen as a launch pad to establish Yoruba dynasty of Oduduwa in 1170 AD to form Oba dynasty in Igodomigodo turned in to Binu . rhektor: You mischievously see only the criticism of you turning Yorùbá language upside-down by relating the Yorùbá language to Hebrew 😂
You couldn't respond to the fact that you translate Tiger to Ẹkùn which is another attempt at your revisionism. Why not deal with that and leave the ancestors of Yorùbá alone? Why this nonsense at relating them to savages? Funny lad. How on earth will correct such as your type who is unwilling to see the reality ? 1. In Ifaodu,Tiger is identified as Ẹkun by Arabas. And you are here misleading a lot of people who are not versed in Yoruba tradition? I hope you will stop this pollution. 2. History has it that Africa had tiger lived in it in the ancient past. Besides, if Yoruba ancestors language can be found in Egypt,Near East and still in use as Coptic liturgy in Orthodox Christendom, then I wonder your point! 3. Professor David Reich stated that Yoruba Dna match was found to had existed in Northern Europe 100,000 years ago before divergence. But here you are still behaving as unstudied lad! 4. Where exactly do we have Tiger in modern time if not in four location in the world ? Asia is part and Europe is part of it. a.These location have been proven to either have Bust that have similar look as Yorubas. b.Linguistic relationship between Yorubas and ancient people who lived in this area which stretch backward to Egypt. c. Dna of Yoruba ancestors in Europe also a testimony. Therefore, all these fact points to the reality that it is not a fluke having such animal which is close knitted knowledge on this animal that represented prowess and most powerful Cat in affiliation to Yoruba royalty is not erroneous.. Advice: Get a good grip of knowledge. And stop wasting your time on pseudo info. Irè o |

Jashub: There is no proof that the yorubas are anywhere close to the Israelites , and from research , the only tribe in Nigeria that may probably have claims to this are the Cross Riverians and some eastern tribes that have similar cultural practices.
In fact, it has been recorded that the Efiks in particular , have over 3000 words that have the exact same meaning in Hebrew Finding your assertion interesting and willing to learn more from your type. Can you analyse how Efik is having 3000 words that are similar to Ancient Hebrew or modern Israelis you mean ? Perhaps, how did these 3000 words became known as being part of ancient Hebrew ? On Yoruba's account, it has been speculated by Arabic scholar, such as Al Ilory, who claims that Yorubas were Blacks-Nubians, Negros, Arabs, and Berbers in present Yoruba formation, while using Ilorin as case study. Even Sultan Muhammad Bello of Sokoto who inferred that Yorubas are Ancient Hebrew offsprings is also a version which much that's expected evidence is not available Another critical information on Yoruba ancestry was done in 2001,where Professor David Reich used Yorubas DNA of about 96 Yorubans people from Nigeria to link Yoruba ancestors in Northern European ancestors over 100, 000 years ago . I expect your response |

XAUBulls: Thanks @Olu317 for adding more meat to this topic.
Ade means crown or related to royalty so I was a bit stunned reading a different interpretation in the original post here. But then since Yoruba is a tonal language, one has to be cautious about interpreting some of those Yoruba family names based on regional or dialectic differences, like the surname Okusanya. I used to think the prefix Oku (the Ijebu deity of wealth) has to do with "death," but now I know it means a different thing in the Ijebu dialect of Yoruba.
I learned new insights from the original post though.
Thanks again, and all the best. You are welcome. Yoruba language is tonal with three tones of different pitch levels, which I agree with you. Funny as you didn't put into consideration what Òku/Òkun which is anciently a form of wealth in all Yoruba with its synonymous with abundance. Water is the measure of wealth or abundance in ancient Yoruba land which doesn't single out Ijebu differently. Without water, life cant exist. Infact 60%-75% of humanbody is said to consists of fluid/water . Hence, Olókùn( Elúokùn), one who owns all on sea, brought forth ajé(wealth) which is needed for upkeep of all humanity. Faction among Ijebus uses this name as prefix to other Yoruba names to have a fuller/additional meaning to it. This is how I see it because ifa corpus specifically mentioned that Ẹlàà a.k.a ọrúnmílà stated that people should seek and ask for wealth in the morning before calling his attention. This does not mean Ajé is the most important but for the fact that wealth/abundance is a desired substance that each and everyone must chased after on a daily basis. |

XAUBulls: Insightful. 1. Ipe... "Consoler." 2. Adeleke... So, the Ade prefix in the names Adeleke does NOT refer to a CROWN? Adé in léké is royalty triumphant. The crown being translated is literary. Whoever bears such surname or name which has Adé that is related to kingly is that the name is associated with royalty. Even the "Adébọ̀bóyè" is still royalty despite the description of the name that(arrival to be heralded with chietancy title) may also be interpreted based on whatever circumstances each individuals get to position and gives name to child that was born at that time in history. |
