Authentic oral verified account. Ṣọun is not ọyọ́ or ọlọ́yọ́ descendants.

You didn't even allow me to edit the information I am posting to be well arranged before your response. grin cheesy wink.

Besides, the Olúgbọn, Aresà, Onikóyi, Ọlọ́yọ́ are cousins through the household of Oduduwa.

There is a Claim that the Ogbomosho were originally Bariba who became Yorubanised over the Centuries

Basorun Gaa’s Great Grandfather was Bariba and his Oriki was said to Mention it

Soun Ogunlola the first King Of Ogbomosho was also said to be of Bariba descent
Whatever people do posit does not matter but everyone cannot know one's history more than one's family.

Gaha or Gáà paternal ancestors were not Ibariba. So seeing some information that betrays Yoruba authentic history does not take away the fact of the real history.

On Sọun history, his name came as a result of his birth but called and named Ògúnlọ́là. And yes,the first ṣọun had an Ibariba father and Igbọ̀n mother; a princess.

The Husband was an Igbon warrior born at a village near the present LAUTECH, by an Ibariba father but with an Aresà woman, and he was named Ogunlola,

The daughter of Aresa Ikin got pregnant for Igbon warrior (Ibariba man) because of this reason the King (Aresa) rejected her.

Thereafter, Adio the Olúgbọn at that time kept her in his Palace until she gave birth to a boy, which was told to Aresa Ikin, but the King said both Son and the mother has been given to Olúgbọn. Let both be taken care of the younder" "Ati iya atomo, Ki wọ́n maa ṣọun ooo".
So the blood of Iresa, Igbon, Borgu and later Oje, became the Baale at Ogbomoso.

Olu317, thank you very much.

There was this article I cannot get hold of right now that logically claimed there must be Oduduwa Before Christ. It could not be the same Oduduwa from Ifa that came after Obatala and United the Yoruba.

I think the article was Yoruba World Exploration but I will read up on it again.
Yes, the earthly Oduduwa existed before the era of Christ. The word Christ is not an ancient Hebrew words but Greeks which the name is traceable to ancient Egypt word.

Like I had said, article can be misleading because before now, most ifẹ families guided their historical account but false information made people to start telling stories about their ancestors so as to correct these anomalies.

Oduduwa , the man and not the heavenly being existed before Christ. Infact , Ogún the pioneer ancestor was not the overall or the unifier king nor the first oduduwa of the thirteen settlement but the younger ancestor who was made overall king.

Therefore, Ògún Ọlọ́jọ́ the pioneer and Oduduwa
are thousands of years ancestrally the ancestor of Òogún the father of Orànmiyàn was rebelled against and chased away from the throne before Orànmiyan came back.many years after, waged war and regained his ancestors throne. Lajamisan, the direct son of Oranmiyan is the occupier of the throne.

So, forget the false information being peddled by some born liars for self and family glorification. People hide to trample on truth but such falsification can never see the light of the day.

Where did Prof. Olupona get 101 kings from if Yoruba had only about 4 family heads unified by the king who took his name from Ifa as Oduduwa?

Oke Ora was supposed to be where Alias Oduduwa came from

Please explain.
Hahaha, I do not know where Professor Olupona got his detail o.Baba Akinjogbin even mentioned that there were two kings during 46th king era which were prior to Obalufon II era.

Both Oral historians and research based fact have different views as relate to Ifẹ history. The fact is that Òogún own Adé Are being worn by Ooni of Oduduwa household ancestors and not Obatala or Ora ifẹ.

Ora ifẹ is the first settler and followed by Òogún. This is the reason Ora ifẹ is deified as the oldest in ifẹ historical account.

Thanks for this information. Why is it that the pre Odùduwà history is so much shrouded in secrecy? Is it that no one is bold enough let out the cat? At least there were rulers before Odùduwà...who were these rulers? Odùduwà has a father...what was his name?
The Pre Oduduwa history is shrouded because people did not take ifa information to cognisance reason being that some families among these Yoruba setting manipulate ifa information for family glorification. Although some informations are scarce to lay hand on at this moment but the major ones of the families that made up ancient ifẹ are well known

This is where ifa information is being manipulated by these people while many other information remains. The misunderstanding of the role of the heavenly obatala, Orunmila, Ogun, eshu etc and fusion with earthly beings who took after these names.

Therefore, start up of these families lived interdependent of one and another but loosely with groups right and leaders of each groups at developing stages.

Oduduwa as a name is odudu iwa loosely described as odu ti o da iwa. The name oduduwa was a generic title which was his wealthy father's name who was the head group of his clan during obatala era; a man identified also with heavenly obatala.

It was during obatala era that rotation stopped as I had said. The oduduwa ọsin was also erí or érí or ẹrí. He was a cousin to obamerí. Infact obamerí lost his life during for supporting the
take over aided by Elus and Ifẹs ( 7 and 6 ) 13 setting in total inclusive the young oduduwa himself that made the young oduduwa became unified king. The Adé Are is absolute crown that crested for Òogún which Oduduwa wore as supreme crown.

Anybody can use God or god as they like really makes no difference but Pagannaija himself knows that Ubangiji is different from the deities and is the same as Olodumare which is what is called God or Gott in Germanic languages but that Almighty God has no special people is how it is different from the Bible God.
There is no difference between biblical perspective of God and Yoruba God. What the Europeans copied came from Abba Mark in Egypt who established well documented Bible that passed through generation to generation from the earlier era of the law and what the modern Christians called grace era.

Therefore, do not be quick to pass judgement else you faulter the more. Conceptualisation of Christians bible is built on sacrifices and prayer which falls also in the same context with Yoruba tradition.

Even on fasting, some iṣẹṣé groups out of hatred for Christianity do not accept the fact that fasting exist in ifa but it does because there are verses that speaks on it.

My point is that when people run into a religion of Yoruba just to spite, then such person's spirituality will never rise to the extent of self development.

Does ifa odù talks about gender of Almighty God ? Yes, ifa did in one stanza when on a particular period that Orúnmilà went to meet Eledumare. Orúnmìlà a spirit male gender told Eledùmárè " ẹgbarégba" "behold equal"

This stanza is just stating the obvious that Eledumare is masculine in nature though with creation power which feminine in nature as other lower irúnmọlẹ did have creating power as well.

Therefore, understanding Yoruba God concept is by tapping the wisdom of Orunmila to teach one in solving all the riddles about Godhead.

I quite understand...the scientific (archaeological) evidence of oldest human activities of what is now known as Yoruba land is the skull found in Iho Eleru...some scholars believe that the migration to Ifẹ̀ bowl started from Ọba ( in Ondo State)...Prof Akintoye's book supports this view...s o there were many pre Odùduwà's Ilẹ̀ Ifè migrations at the formation of èlús scattered around the Ifẹ̀ bowl... what could have attracted people toward the bowl may be the richness of the land
What Professor Akintoye wrote is not correct as regard certain information on Iléifẹ history. Infact the Ọ̀bà history being circulated is absolutely false as it concerns ancient era.

The founder of Ọ̀bà,will shock to your bone that this city was founded by Ora ifẹ descendants. Verifying their most revered traditional ancestors pitch this tradition of ọ̀bà people to Obálúfọn.The same Ọ̀bálufọn is a paternal descendant of Ora.

You see, there are flaws in many of the oral accounts of Yoruba kingdoms simply because, everyone want association with Odùduwa dynasty. Unfortunately, this is partially wrong even if there are intermarriages between the principal lineages that came to be ifẹ groups, yet distinction still exists.

The dynasty being referred as pre Odùduwa era was not a unified system but a chosen rotational system which is rotated among the thirteen groups. These same thirteen groups came out from four set up even lesser than four if we probe further but not one source.

In proper set up, Odùduwa ancestors are distinct lineage from Ora mfẹ. Infact the name odùduwa is a copied or reincarnated one from the heavenly odùduwa in Ifa corpus who was without human birth that descended via chain-ẹ̀wọ̀n-Òogún. The proper place of Odùduwa ancestors land is called Obìrì in Owàra or Iwàra or Iwàran
Aptly posits as Owàragún or Iwàragun or IwàraÒogún. The pioneer Òogún, a mighty spirtual warrior established the household of Odùduwa in ancient Iléifẹ.

Ifá corpus mentioned this city as the city where overall king will come from when a particular being Orúnmìlà birthed his children who were eight in numbers and gave them names accordingly.

So putting Ọ̀bà affront of Yorùba history is a fabrication to suit some quarters,in just the manner that nearly all Ekitis kings claims Odùduwa paternal ancestry which is basically false because many of these Baalẹ turned kings are Oramfẹ paternal descendants and odùduwa families members maternal descendants.

In Ifá corpus, Éjìgbomẹ̀kun is a the major market being known and this market is linked to ancient Iléifẹ and Ọ̀bà is no where to be found among the earliest cities among the eight cities founded by Orúnmìlà descendants.

Oko and Oba in Anambra are of pre Odùduwà Yorùbá origin...though further research still ongoing. There people of Yorùba origin in Sudan through the trade between Sudan and Ejigbomekun market in Ile Ife.
Oba, Oko,Oru, Oshimili , Ika etc do not have historical relationship with Yorubas same names settlement.

Ifaodu corpus talks about Yorubas version which are not same , even Afa of the Igbos of Eastern region's version is not same. Kolanut divination may be, three lobes, four lobes, eight lobes among Yorubas still remain different when doing the lotcast or divination.

Ika is also an Odu in ifa corpus which is among the first set of 16 odus that came to earth when Orunmila ascended to heaven in Yoruba cosmology. There is historical account to the reason of how the first became the last and the last became the last among the 16 odu.

So, positing that some places are Older than Yoruba settlement is a bit controversial as far as some information is concerned but one cannot take away some views if well verified.

The infamous U.S.-based Farooq Kperogi is of Bariba ethnicity.

His home town is Okuta and there is an Ilesa in the Bariba-speaking part of Kwara.

Parts of Bariba were conquered and incorporated into the Oyo Empire, so some of them would have learned to speak some Yoruba.
Yes, Farooq is linked to Ibariba but not Ibariba are linked to Yorùbas. The same way Yorùbas have genetically link with white and Africans does not mean all white ordarkskins are Yorubas.

The Yorùbas you find in Ibariba were of different eras. There was a time when Elempe-Tapa-Nupe attack old Ọyọ́ and the Ọlọ́yọ́ of that era moved for safety with his people which led to dispersion. So finding Yorùbas within Ibariba enclave is the same as finding Yorùbas of Olukumi among Ìgbò speaking people in Aniocha environment.

Living in Ibariba land is no big deal. Infact, in around early 1800s Ojo Aburumaku , a descendants of Gaa went to Ilọ́rin to capture Afọnjà but he could not captured him because he was betrayed by the cowarriors who did not support the present Ọlọ́yọ́ at that time whose predecessor sent Afọnjà to attack a community under Iléifẹ which Afọnjà which was wrong and led to the fall of Ọyọ́ land.

After Ojo Aburumàkú saw this betrayal, he relocated to Ibariba land and lived there till he passed on. Beside, many Yorùbas moved to Ibariba land also apart from war because of the cordial relationship Yorùbas had with Ibariba people even intermarriages is known among them.

Many of these people claiming Ọyọ́ in Ibaribas are mostly, Alara descendants Aresa's, Ikoyi's,Igbọ̀n's Oje's etc. So, there is no doubt about Yorùbas in different places inclusive Ibariba.

Thanks for the deep insights on
Sango's maternal Nupe (Tapa) origins which must be from
Northern Kwara.
Yes, Katunga was not originally Yorùbas land but of Nupe people whom the ancient Yorùbas called them Elempe. Orànmiyan ruggedness made this land became Yorùba's afterhewagewarashewasgoingfarthertoavengehisancestorsdefeatbysomewarriors.Unfortunately he turned back when he could not go through Songhai Empire due to the setup of this land.

Interestingly, contrary to speculation Orànmiyan was not a king in Katunga but a leader because he was a warrior prince who wage war after this christened name "Orànmiyan."To be a A king, such personality must be crowned by chiefs and sacrifices must complied with. His real names were Odede and Jegbe respectively.

After awhile he left katunga land to Iléifẹ to take over his ancestors throne which was taken away from his father's lineage Ògún by the rebellious ifẹ. Eventually he arrived iléifẹ safely and chased away Ọbálùfọn who was a descendant of Ora paternally, popularly called Ora ifẹ or Orafẹ or Oramfẹ and was crowned after his ancestors title identified as Ooni( owner of ifẹ)ifẹ.

He married Obálùfọn's daughter, also married Moremi after her husband rejected her for playing the brave role of being caught by ubo/Ibo/Ugbo/Igbó people of Yorùba extraction and not modern day Eastern people identified as ìgbò. The Yorùba Igbó people are Obámakin descendants who adorn Seeséfun crown. While Adé Aare belong to Ògún and lineage strictly.

Nigerians seem to be very uncomfortable with acknowledging that their ethnic group received input from their neighbours. But admit it or not, it is a fact that many Bashorun were of non-Yoruba origin. I'm not the one saying; acclaimed Yoruba scholars have written the same thing. Gaa, Magaji, Woruda, Biri, Jambu, Yamba, etc - these men were Bashorun of Old Oyo whose names suggest were not of Yoruba origin.
Are you sure ? In terms of Ọyọ́ history and other related groupings in old Yorùba setup, there is no doubt about usage of Arabic names.

This does not make such people foreigners and also this does not mean Tapa,Ibariba aren't assimilated into Yorùba setting. Infact, the same way,Edos,Ibos,Arabs,Hausas,Kanuri,Ogu-Egun etc were assimilated into Yorùba setup.

These being acknowledged had nothing to do with position of Báṣọ̀rún! The position of Báṣọ̀rún is a sensitive one which is second to the king. And no one can attain this post except he is an ibilẹ̀(indigenous) for that matter.

Mọgàji as a title and other names did not come through Hausas, rather the Arabs within Yorùba setup . Beside, from the time of Òrànmiyàn in late1100AD who brought Tapa when he fought and won against these people. He married one of their daughter who was a princess called Torosi.
This woman was the mother of Dada, who was popularly known as Ajasa or Ajaka and ItiElú or Itiolú who was popularly known as a replica of Ṣàngó.

It was through Ọrànmiyàn that Tapa were assimilated under his father's House with Oriki/ panegyric distinction in iléifẹ though ancestrally as his Sword bearer . Nupe people are called Elempe or Tapa people who are led presently by Baba Eredumi in Iléifẹ.There a lot of cross breeding so if such happens, can you call such person or people non Yorùba after much intermarriages ?

Furthermore If you claimed the names you pointed as foreign which is same as English names to us being bore by Yorùbas because some people claimed Islam came to Nigeria through Hausa before it reached Yorùba land. How true can these be? Kindly ponder over these.

Why is it true that Lord of the House in Arabs do not have same cognate with Hausa as found in Yorùba language ?

Why is the word for Father in Arabic language is same with Yorùba and not found among Hausa 's ?

Why is it that the word for fire or light as found in Arabic word is same with Yorùba but does not exist in Hausa language ?

Seriously, there are load of words that are having same cognate between Arabic and Yorùba that do not exist in Hausa language, despite the assumptive claim of Hausas being Islamised. So, it not about their identity because these people are Yorùbas.

Ṣọ́ùn father's was a son to an Ibariba and son to a Yorùba mother. Ṣọ́ùn himself was a son to his Ibariba father and Yorùba mother.

Typical example is Ṣọ́ùn Ogbómọṣọ.
Ṣọ́ùn and Ọlọ́yọ́ daughter fell inlove which he impregnated her because Ọlọ́yọ́ will not allow a commoner marry his daughter. Is Ṣọùn not a prince in Yorùba monarchial system ?

Plainly, these people were not foreigners in all ramifications.

Interesting @OP but Oduduwa in ifáodù was the one who the kingship over the earth was handed over to. In Ẹlẹ́mẹrẹ̀ Méjì,
There was problem between oduduwa and Orìṣànlá Òsèrèmàgbò when the former was made king of all kings upon the earth.

Then Osèrèmàgbo conjured negativity and chaos upon earth that humanbeings were dying, drought , death of animals etc.
Out of helplessness,Orúnmìlà came to the rescue of oduduwa by reversing the negativism and chaos to productivity and wellbeing of all things that God created.

Secondly, there was nothing like Ooni dynasty in the previous era before Oduduwa. The leadership system was rotational among the three major groups that became thirteen huts or groups.

So, no Ooni iléifẹ before Ogún dynasty. Instead, Olúfẹ was the title being used.Ooni ifẹ means, Owner of the vast land inclusive humans, beast, etc .

These similarities are because they've been neighbours for centuries and have mixed and borrowed from one another. Lexically, Igala is still closer to Yoruba by far than to Idoma. The closeness between Igala and Yoruba are so much so that experts believe they both separated from a common language stock.
Neighbours correct. This due to Ecological factor in linguistic analysis.

Interwoven with the Yorubas of the NorthEast Flank ? Correct. Okun people factoring.

Interwoven with the North Central Yorubas ? Came to be during Oranmiyan's and team's espionage across Niger River.

Oranmiyan and group went as far as close to Songhai Empire(oral history with evidence of Yoruba Fabrics, beads, found in Mauritania and beyond) before returning due to his inability to penetrate Songhai Empire.

Therefore he returns back to extract some Tapa/Nupe who became loyalist to him in reestablishment of Katunga and later Eyoe who were of Nupe admixture.

Finally, the people who were of Igala are admixture of Tapa, Jukun,Idoma, Ibos(Ìgbò) etc Yoruba.

Pointing to language separation 5000 years ago is pointing to the Biblical information on Tower of Babel . And this is false because there is no Igala as a man in Ifá but animal in all ramification.

The ifa as esoteric divination system has absolute information on the people who claims historical alliance and same variation of language identified as Yorùbá people.

In ileife, there is no household that Igala can lay claim to as ancestral household unless, the one that begun during the return of Oranmiyan back to ileife after the demise of obálùfọ̀n ogbógbodirin and his son Obálùfọ̀n Aláyémórè around early 1200AD. And the Igala, will be fused under Eredumi household who is under Obadio of Ogun household.

This was when Prince Orànmìyàn returned and Obálùfọ̀n Aláayémórè abdicated the throne for him to establish ẹfọn Alàayé .

Even in iléifẹ, there is what is called strangers quarters.Kindly verify my assertion through visit to ileife. You see, the hypothesis being stated online is quite different from reality on ground.

Finally , there were oral account in ifa where the world begun in the ancient "iléifẹ" (vast household) or "ilẹ̀ifẹ" (vast endless land) and there are three world that have existed. The present world is the third.

grin cheesy. No wonder the Yoruba Race have identity crisis. This assertion of yours simply showcase the level ofdoubters understanding of Yoruba Race.

@OP,who knows if Perhaps part of your ancestors may had even be of Hausas ancestry? Yoruba Race is a complex one and you should not give knocks to certain information about Arabs of this of this world, or Hebrew of this world,Kemet of this world, peculiar Europeans of this world etc. as part of Yoruba Race.

Looking at the odua as a name or entity did not exist in Kemet oral account but ORA,YHWH(ÌWÀ) DUD(ODUDU), OD(ODU)exist as a name or word in Kemet, Near East and exsted in the Yoruba of west Africa's account. Have you no knowledge of these history ?

Orisa,Risa, Resh, gede etc exist in Near East account,Egypt and Yoruba account even countless thousands of true cognates. But here you're faulting muslims and Christian believers among the Yoruba Race ?

Even if people fail to appreciate their ancestors, does it mean ifaodu does not make reference to these things ?

Doing more comprehensive research work will help you realise the language spoken by Egyptians which you thought was Coptic was false. The Coptic language was a foreign dialect of the Hebrew and not Arabs to call it Egyptian's i is an absolute aberration .

In doubt of language? The ancient Hebrew was spoken during the era of a peculiar king in Egypt dynasty and adopted it as a Franca lingual because the speakers of Hebrew had some good population and their trade instinct.

Thereafter during the era of a mystical man preacher called Yeshua/Eeshua(Jesus) also known as Ela who was birthed without a father but had a mother. The said man preached about Almighty God, and later died according the outsiders who were non believers but the insiders of same Ancient Hebrew said the man ascended to heaven. It is from this mystical Ela that led Saint Mark to Egypt to establish Christianity.

Interestingly the ancient christians in Egypt were the ones who spoke Coptic dialects and few educated Egyptians who shared in such faith .

Are you aware the first Pope was actually called Abba ?

Saint Mark, the Hebrew man who brought the orthodox christ like religion to Egypt was the first Abba.

Are you also not aware Abba is translated to mean Pope ?

Are you aware there were people who came from Sudan as Arabs and other ethnic people to Yorubaland ?

Is "Og" the Hebrew name not same as Yoruba Ogun in meaning ?

Try to study and know more about the ancient dead Egyptians language, the Hebrews and Yorubas as foundation of write up so as to have a clear picture toward your destination.

Note:
This is afar I can go because you do not even know odua did not father everyone in Yoruba. As a descendant of Odua, fact must be spilled as ocean covers manypart of the earth, despite lies exist.

The man identified as Odua is of Idi odoo in Ileife and he was a young man when he was picked by stakeholders to stop the rotational governance in the ancient ileife.

This was how he fused the thirteen communities together and became the King over the kings of these thirteen communities. And heavy intermarriage existed. #Fact.com

I will advise you open your own thread and educate us the more rather than countering what's already stated. We are eager to learn about the perspectives you're coming from kissA friend of mine, called my attention to this thread. She's from Ondo State but Igala by ancestry;she found something interesting about my native name yesterday and she thinks I'm more Yoruba than Igala.I have to let her know that my name Keju is an abreviation of Alikeju, her dad's name is Akeju and her brother abbreviates it as Keju, such a twist. kissShe's telling me I'm bearing her surname Lolz.
Well, if I have such strength I can open such thread but I rather inform on truth, which is the reason I read views from some people to correct the anomalies. So, this thread ought be based on truth and not assumption.

You see, seeing many false informatin being spread around about certain critical aspect of Yoruba people need stop. Without such falsehood, I will had just read through and enjoy thread without commenting.

Anyway, Alikeju that you stated its contraction of Akeju or Keju as you had stated which is a Yoruba name of your friend in Ondo. The name in Yoruba actually means "the pampered" If she says you bear her surname, but do you
agree that your surname or name means the pampered ?If not, then both names sound alike but differs in meaning. So enjoy your time with her and I wish both of you the best.

There are many people on NL misleading others. Anyway, if you desire falsehood, continue and be fed with it.

But I will never see lies being perpetrated by people and have my hands folded. This is practically impossible because light dwells with its glory.

Lastly, kindly tell us the Odù in Ifá that established Igala. And if you donot know, ask the person who claims all these invention to clarify the Odù that established Igala. Lobatan cheesy grin

Pls stick to what you know, or calm down and stop gettting your panties in a bunch.
I said Igala sounds like heavily modified archaic Yoruba, I never said it is the archaic Yoruba, maybe you have comprehension issues..... If you have any contrary opinions, express it. It is an established fact that the NW Yoruba dialects (Your Oyo, Egba, Ibarapa and co) are the newest and latest evolving Yoruba dialects while the eastern dialects ( your Ekiti, Ufe, Ijebu, Owo, Ondo, Okun of Kogi and co) are the most archaic and stable...

That is why an Igala, Ekiti, Ondo, Itsekiri, Ijesha person will instantly interpret the title of Teni's popular single "Uyo Meyo" without breaking sweat, but your average Lagosian or Ibadan Yoruba will still be asking if that is even Yoruba language.
That is why the vocabulary of Igala is closer to that of the eastern dialects but with heavy mutations due to contact with Idoma and Igbo.

Igala and Olukumi do not belong to the same time period.
All linguists agree that Igala and the modern Yoruba dialects split off from a previous common proto language... so I don't know how any well informed person will be comparing the chronology of Olukumi vis-a-vis Yoruba with that of Igala, which shares a much more antiquated level of relationship.

Ps: Who told you there is nothing like Olokunrin in Yoruba. Stop overreaching yourself please.... or better still, just stick to your dialect and stay there.
And even if that was the case, where exactly are the exaggerations? because apart from that one example out of all those I have listed up there you haven't pointed to any other one.

Check a map please, Yoruba are not more southerly than Igala per se.... it is Nigeria's confusing political geography that makes people think along the lines of ;"Igala are North, Yoruba is South" Or have you forgotten there are Yorubas in the same "Northern" kogi state with the Igalas? grin

Geographically, Yorubaland extend both more in the Northerly and more in the Southerly directions than the reach of Igalas.... Which means that even within Yorubas, you will actually find Yoruba groups more northerly and more southerly than Igala geographically..... So you can see your hypothesis is already faulty.
Lol. Which year did Igala came into existence if you claim their time were different from Olukumi ?

2. Who founded Igala ?

3. Who was the first king in Igala ?

If you can answer these above questions, then don't twist your assertion because Ibos,Hausas, Tapa, shared some words with Yorubas aswell. So do not limit your assertion to Igala.Kindly explore beyond the Nigeria's Border.

Contrary to your view Arakunrin, Arabinrin is a conceptualisation of Samuel Ajai Crowther. And if you disagree, then at your own peril.

The Igala are absolute farmers in the ancient migration into Yoruba land, which neccessitated the knowledge of understanding Yoruba language.

Finally, I don't use vulgar words,so no big deal if your intention is to mislead people which cannot go beyond this Site. Albeit, stick to fact and not assumption. This is my submission.

Yoruba emerged or existed from Tapa.
Lol...And the language differs the farther you go beyond Niger State grin cheesy wink.

The Yoruba language is found in Egypt as Coptic during the era of Saint Mark the Abba Mark. The Yoruboid language has existed in their chronicle for over 4000 years.

Interestingly the Coptic language is also ligual Franca in Egypt and not Egyptians ancient language. Ifa Corpus has existed thousands of thousands of years before Contact with Tapa.

The Tapa is not Yoruba but some are conscripted into Yoruba families in such a way some Ibos, Oyinbos,Hausas, Arabs, Sudanese etc are conscripted into Yoruba
families.

Transl:
Blackskin man is the priest of Alara
Lightskin man is the priest of Ajero

Tell, where does it show Yoruba came from Nupe/Nufe/Tapa ?

My point is that posting information as serious as this ought be with authenticity .

Cheers

Bro, if you want to know about very old Yoruba words. You will have to hear the eastern part of the Yoruba speak their dialects. You will pick so many words that are very very old. Let me give you an example. 'fø' means 'to say' or 'I say'.
I know you are correct about the older Yoruba dialect being residents in central and Eastern Yoruba enclave. Infact, ifá corpus has numerous classical abundance of yoruba words.

Pick interest in ifa knowledge and you will understand reason I do not subscribe to Igala as archaic Yoruboid language. Such postulation is not true.

Clearly, there is no place in Ifa that I have come across where igala is identified as human being rather a deer kind of animal.

Therefore, it is ideal to understand the history of igala itself before anyone post in this manner. Orànmìyàn invaded Tapa enclave across Niger and founded Eyoe after his return from near Songhai Empire. Tapaland was where he later married Torosi, who birthed Tella Itiolu called Sàngó and his elder brother Dada Ajasa.

Fọ means, say speak, etc as you had mentioned and not new to people except people without deep knowledge of Yoruba history. The modern day dialect was an innovation of Samuel Ajai Crowther and others who wrote the first Yoruba dictionary . So, no hard feeling.

Igala It looks like heavily modified archaic Yoruba.

Many of the words are the same. For those that are not exactly the same, I observed the following changes/modifications.

1) I noticed keenly that they have evolved to replace nasal vowel (Añ, Eñ, Iñ, Oñ, Uñ Etc) endings in Yoruba with their oral vowel equivalents.
Because Yoruba has 7 oral and 7 nasal vowels... but seems Igala has only oral ones.

* And also some consonant mutation in Igala , i.e (R to L), (L to N), (J to Bÿ), (S to R/L) etc....
Here are some RULES:

Rule A*: Oral vowel ending to open ending. Middle diphthong eliminated when present
Jeuñ (eat) - Jeñwu
Igbiñ (snail) - Igbi
Ohuñ (thing) - Eñwu
Eyiñ (tooth) - Eñyi

Ofuñ (throat) - Ofa
Oyañ (breats) - Eñya
Idiñ (maggot) - Ide
Ekuñ (leopard) - Eko
Tituñ (new) - Tito

Rule B* Consonant mutation R to L and vice versa
Kekere (small) - Kekele
Irawo (star) - Ilawo

Akere (toad) - Akele
Ra (buy) - La

Oruñgbe (thirst) - Olugbe

Rule C* Consonant mutation S to R/L
Ese (leg) - Ere
Eso (fruit) - Ero
Se (block) - Re
Sø (throw) - Rø

Rule D* Consonant mutation S and SH to CH
It seems like the “Sh” sound in absent in some Igala dialects , and they replace with a 'CH'... These dialects that lack the the SH sound seem to have become the standard for the whole of Igala.

Sheyi (done this) - Cheyi
Oshu (moon) - Ochu
Ishu (yam) - Uchu
Ashe (authority) - Ache
Isha (pot) - Ucha
Shu (defecate) - Chu

Rule E* Consonant mutation J to BŸ
Aja (dog) - Abya
Eje (seven) - Ebye
Ẹjɛ (blood) - Ẹbyɛ

Rule F* Consonant mutation W to GW just like in the South-Eastern Yorubaland dialects
Ewa (beans) - Egwa
Ku (die) - Kwu

And finally,False friend cognates
Yo in Yoruba = Fully fed
Yo in Igala = Plump / Fat

Du in Yoruba - To contest an object
Du in Igala - To take an object

Oyuñ in Yoruba = Pregnancy
Oyu in Igala = Fat

Ebo in Yoruba - Sacrifice
Ebo in Igala - Deity

Edø in Yoruba = Liver
Edø in Igala = Heart/Chest

Wewe in Yoruba = Pieces
Uwewe in igala = Many

With this, I would give a Yoruba - give or take 6 months to master this language under complete exposure like going to live in Idah or Dekina.

Yoruba is Igala Pro Max. Once you master the grammatical rule of thumb in the formula required to convert from one dialect gloss to the other gloss ... you will master the language sharply.
How do you mean Archaic Yoruba ? I will advise you consult extensively before assumption because misleading the public can be infectious. So,kindly do more research than posting submission as this.

Plainly, Igala has never been archaic Yoruba. The Olukwu still speak a dialect of Yoruba being encircled by heavy Ibo speakers.Yet the language cum dialect still retain its Yoruba dialect.

This people had lived in around the era Igala was formed which is over 800 years old and still retain Yoruba dialect . Therefore do not pressume on the Igala language.

So, redirect your research to the fact than asserting such view as "Archaic Yoruba language". The Igala language is not not not "Archaic Yoruba."

Furthermore, the comparison are in some true cognate but exaggeration exist in some areas you thought they same. For instance

There is nothing as Olokunrin or Olobinrin in Yoruba language. Appropriateley, it Okunrin/Ọkunrin or Obinrin/Obiri. Infact, Ajayi Crowther created Arabinrin and Arakunrin which never existed in Yoruba lexicon of ancient times.

Again, the comparison of Igala words with Yorubas still do not have synonymous words for the Yoruba words which differs from Igala's language.

So, kindly take note because all families are in iléifẹ to confirm whoever is telling false positing truth.

I was talking with a colleague an igala man from Kogi state, I later discovered during our conversation that most of their igala words are almost similar to yoruba words. Interestingly, the man told me that they're closer to the south eastern part of the country than the south west.I came across below quotation from wikipedia

"The Yoruba culture was originally an oral tradition, and the majority of Yoruba people are native speakers of the Yoruba language. The number of speakers is roughly estimated at about 30 million in 2010. Yoruba is classified within the Edekiri languages, and together with the isolate Igala, form the Yoruboid group of languages within what we now have as West Africa. Igala and Yoruba have important historical and cultural relationships. The languages of the two ethnic groups bear such a close resemblance that researchers such as Forde (1951) and Westermann and Bryan (1952) regarded Igala as a dialect of Yoruba"

"Also Igáláà is a Yoruboid language. It is spoken by the Igala ethnic group of Nigeria. In 1989 an estimated 800,000 spoke Igala, primarily in Kogi State, though current day estimates estimate upwards of 2 million Igala speakers. Dialects include Idah, Imane, Ankpa, Dekina, Ogugu, Ibaji and Ife. The Igala is related to Yoruba with which it shares a previous common ancestor, it remains unclear when both language split, mutual intelligibility in modern times is only marginal, although the sound/tonal systems remain the same, akin to the relationship between the various daughter languages of the Romance or Slavic language families. The Idoma and Bassa people use Igala in primary schools. The Igala language, as well as Igala culture and tradition, has influenced other languages and cultures around the confluence of the Niger and Benue rivers".
Historical relationship exist for centuries due to the interactive nature of these two groups and more .

Although, Igala is a deer in Yoruba language remains a crossbreed of the people identified as Yorubas and Tapa extract. The word igala is identified as an animal name.

Originally, the oral history says, one of oranmiyan descendant was the founder of Igala with heavy influence of Tapa group and they are with knowledge of of ifa esoteric but not in full that is in accordance to Yoruba's ifa divination system.
