Deji Adenuga, the suspected murderer who set ablaze 9 members of his estranged girlfriend’s family in Igbodigo, #Ondo State, has stated that he has no regrets do it.

The 45- year-old suspect, after being arrested, confessed to the crime, saying he burnt the house where the parents of his wife lived and killed eight persons. The suspect was one of the ex -convicts that escaped from Olokuta Prison after a jail break in 2013. According to him, he had in 2003, killed his first wife after she allegedly went away with N450, 000 belonging to him. On why he took the decision to burn the family of his wife to death, he said his wife aborted his 4-month pregnancy and took away some of his personal belongings to her parent’s house.

His words: “I have no regret killing them because when they did their own nobody punished them. I took the decision to set their house ablaze when it became clear that my wife had moved to her parent’s house with some of my belongings.

We had little altercations at home and she moved out of the house. I was the one paying their house rent and I was also responsible for their day-to -day living. I am a palm wine tapper and I always live up to expectation both at home and at my in-law’s house. My wife’s parent always asked for money from me and food stuffs and I always oblige”. Adenuga said he waited for months thinking that the family will rescind their decision but to no avail.

According to him: “I also reported the matter to the Police but they did not take any action. I therefore decided to set their house ablaze for my belongings in their custody to be destroyed but they were also burnt.” He said he was ready to face the consequences of his action....

Hausa actress Amina Abdullahi, has accused her colleague Hadiza Gabon of hacking her social media accounts and deleting some messages. Amina Abdullahi who accused Hadiza Gabon of hacking her social media accounts while speaking to a Daily Trust correspondent, added that she once considered her as a role model till she assaulted her and further took her phone away. 

“What happened was that I posted something on one of my social media handles and I didn’t know that the post angered Hadiza Gabon, whom I regard as a role model. In the beginning, it was a picture that was not decent. So, a lot of people were complaining and in the end I included another DM (direct message) and some wordings. However, I didn’t know that she was not happy with the post since I didn’t mention anyone’s name in it.”

She said the video of the alleged assault went viral after it was posted on social media. Amina, in the interview, narrated the alleged assault as thus: “That day, I was at home and Habu Sarki, who happens to be one of the people I respect so much in the industry, called me and said he wanted us to have a very important discussion. He said he was out of town and would call me when he arrived. When he came back, he called as we earlier discussed and I came out to meet him. As I stepped out of the house, I noticed a black salon car and then I saw Hadiza Gabon coming out of the car.

“I didn’t know she came along with some others in a tricycle and immediately she got close to me, she started beating me. Habu Sarki then said we should get into the house but I was confused because I didn’t know what was actually happening. I opened the door to my house and we all entered and yet she didn’t stop beating me. From the video, you will notice that it all happened in an apartment. The videos are two; in fact, she beat the hell out of me and seized my phone.”

Senator Godswill Akpabio’s lawyer, Mr Patrick Umoh, has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Akwa Ibom State of frustrating the inspection of materials.This came after the Chairman of the state election petitions tribunal, Justice W. Akanbi granted Akpabio permission to inspect and copy all election materials used for the conduct of the election. However Akpabio's lawyer who spoke with Punch, accused INEC of frustrating inspection of materials.

Umoh said, “We have not commenced proper inspection of the materials. When we got there yesterday (Tuesday), all the materials used for the governorship, presidential and National Assembly elections were put in one place. We demanded for the voter registers, result sheets and others, but they refused to provide them on the grounds that they were supposed to be brought in by electoral officers from the respective local government councils. There is a systemic frustration that has been pre-arranged by INEC.”

However the electoral commission’s Public Affairs Officer in the state, Mr Don Etukudo, who denied the allegation revealed that a schedule was given to the legal team and it was able to sort materials for 10 local government areas on Tuesday when the inspection resumed. According to him, materials for Ini, Abak and Etim Ekpo local government areas were scheduled to be sorted on Wednesday.

Nigerian brothers, Olabinjo and Abimbola Osundairo have sued Jussie Smollett’s Attorneys Mark Geragos And Tina Glandian, for an alleged defamation. The Nigerian brothers who sued Jussie Smollett’s Attorneys and reportedly filed their lawsuit at the federal court in Illinois on Tuesday, accused them of smearing their reputations in a bid to salvage Empire Star's image. The suit alleges that Smollett’s attorneys Mark Geragos and Tina Glandian gave interviews in which they sought to scapegoat the brothers. The suit also accuses Glandian of falsely suggesting that Abimbola Osundairo had sexual relations with Smollett, exposing him to backlash in the Nigerian community.

The brothers’ attorneys acknowledged they took part in a hoax, but said they have apologized for it, and only did so because Smollett paid them. “As far as their participation in this publicity stunt, they’ve realized that it was wrong, they’ve apologized for it, and they’ve expressed more than once that they are tremendously regretful for the role that they played in it,” Schmidt said. “But make no mistake, they had no role in calling the police, and they had no role in defrauding the Police Department.”

The brothers’ lawsuit accuses Smollett’s attorneys of repeatedly making false attacks against them in the media after prosecutors dropped charges against the actor. According to them, Glandian’s and Geragos’ statements “have caused considerable damage to Plaintiffs’ careers, as they have lost talent agent contracts and career opportunities.”

According to the lawsuit, Glandian’s suggestion that Ola Osundairo is homosexual puts him and his family in Nigeria in danger, noting that homosexual activity is illegal in Nigeria, and is punishable by up to 14 years in prison, or death by stoning if the accused is married.
