all this arguement about Phd makes me laugh, even in europe you need to get a potential supervisor for the school to reason you,[s] reason why some schools do phd for 5years is because the mentioned student couldnt get a Potential supervisor[/s] as such you will use 2years to do some course work which is still like masters, but it is always advisable to talk to some professor from the interested department or else yout application dey God hand... best

This is not true.

@bold, you shouldn't make a generic statement when you're not sure. This is not true for most of the programs here. You have to go through the advisor selection process after resumption. Infact, some schools/programs give up to two semesters for lab rotation and exploration before you can choose a PI.

There’s a lot of ignorant people here.
When all you watch is BB naija and other useless shows. Educate yourself, you won’t.
Ordinary primary school social studies, you don’t know. Smh
A simple google search would have saved a lot of you from this public display of ignorance.

some schools will ask you to submit a bank statement showing the cost of attendance for a year even when you have excess funding.
Kendrix69:
But how can they be expecting you to bring that, that's almost 18k dollars for a year, shey na penthause u wan dey stay ni, for one person?.......if dey didn't now give u GA, dey will now expect you to bring 15m?.. To me they are just being wicked...simple
Travel / Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 14 by OluDare01(m): 4:00am On Apr 11, 2019
Since you’ve not resumed, you don’t have a sevis record yet. What you have is a sevis fee valid for a year. If you plan on going to another school within a year, you don’t have to pay another sevis fee. You will go to the sevis website and transfer your sevis fee payment to your new sevis number. Go to fmjfee.com, then to I-901 status, enter your current sevis ID and details and click request transfer, then enter your new sevis ID and that’s it.
Kingsman01:

Bro thank you for your guidance.
My SEVIS ID was generated from a School I no longer want to go for. How do I place this request because asking for a SEVIS transfer from them clearly means I am no longer interested in the school.
Travel / Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 14 by OluDare01(m): 11:34pm On Apr 10, 2019
Your sevis ID is valid as long as you remain in status. Yes, it can be transferred to another school. Talk to your international student advisor. For most schools, you need a transfer request form from your new school to be completed by you and your international student advisor, then you initiate the transfer of your sevis record to your new school before you can request for a new I-20 from your new school.

Hello good people of NL,

Please what’s the validity of SEVIS ID and can it be transferred for use by another school?

Also, is there any particular interactive GRE thread like this thread?.

Thanks.

You need to learn how to talk to people on a public forum. I was going to just ignore you but you need a timely reminder if anyone hasn’t called you to order. Does my post sound rude or off point to you? This is a faceless forum. There’s no need to put up this kind of attitude at all. This world is a very small place. I hope you grow up pretty soon.

This thread has really come a long way. Oga justwise, I hail you o. As we enter the Fall 2019 interview cycle, I wish you guys all the best.

Schools get levels
Schools get levels and I agree with you, but not everyone has the right profile to enter top schools. What if he decides to go to a small school for his master's and then apply to a top school for a PhD? We all have different paths in life and the last time I checked, what gets you a job is what you know and the skills you have, not your school’s ranking.
I know a lot of people that went to ‘small schools’ that work for top reputable companies like Intel, IBM, Dow, Apple, Eli Lilly, Amgen, to mention but a few.
Ofcourse you have more opportunities in terms of funding, research facilities and personnel when you attend a top school. If you can’t get into those schools, attending a small school isn’t a bad idea.

Don’t retake the GRE. Try your luck with Tennessee tech, Missouri state university, Mississippi state university, Northern Illinois University.
Picricchem:
Good evening house. I need a candid advice.

My profile is:

GPA = 3.28/5.0

GRE: V.R = 155; Q.R = 149 AW = 3.0

Undergraduate Course Chemistry

Intended Major (Masters) : Chemistry or Material science.

I aimed UVM Chemistry initially, to meet up with their deadline, I wrote the GRE when I knew I wasn't fully prepare (5 weeks of preparation), unfortunately for me, I was not selected. Though they didn't complain about my scores, but I know that my Q.R is not good enough.

I'm planning to retake the GRE by May. Is it advisable for me to use my present scores to seek admission in schools where GRE scores are not ordinarily required e.g Illinois state University? Or should I wait till I retake the exam before I apply to any school I want to apply to. I'm targeting Spring 2020 admission and I want to spread my tentacles as wide as possible.

Kindly advise me. Your contribution will be highly appreciated. Thanks.

Las las, I reported my score and I saw QR(160), VR(152). I was crestfallen because I never had it that low in any of my mocks. From the official score sent to me today the analytical is 3.5.

Immediately I saw the score at the centre, I just told myself "guy, life goes on" and I sent my scores to
Iowa state University
University of South Florida
Florida State University
University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa.

read where they said they keep rolling in admits as application comes in.
3.23/4 industrial chemistry
They started rolling out admits since November, so you're probably late.

I just applied in late march though.

how long does it take?
If you’ve not heard back from MTU by this time, you’ve probably been waitlisted.
Their chemistry program is so small and they’re stingy with funding as you know. Did you apply to other schools?
