ireloju:Go to your bank through which you want to transfer your money to Norway. Tell them you want Form A to pay your fees for masters program. You'll need to have a current account and some documents they'll request from you. |
lobito007:Thanks bro. 4.18/5.00. @lobitoo7, I recall informing you about Mech Eng related courses available in less competitive Telemark, now USN. Did you apply? |
rinzylee:No need for a bird in hand. UiS just gave me admission for my first choice course, Offshore Technology. I'm definitely taking UiS. |
spiritassassin:It depends on the course. Some are way more competitive than others. I applied for Natural Gas Technology, Petroleum Engineering at NTNU, the two most wanted Engineering options. I understand if one can get admission in the two above mentioned or Sustainable Energy, any other Engineering course should be pretty easy to get into. |
On Monday, 11th, USN gave me admission for my first choice, Process Technology/Engineering. They said I should transfer 103950 NOK before May 9th. But I'm waiting for UiS for now. UiS mailed me last week that they'll only be considering my first course option due to the crowded applications for both of my course options. I just hope they respond on time especially now that I'm in town so i can commence the whole transfer and visa issues early enough. Obviously, I didn't get NTNU cos everyone now wants to go to Norway especially this 2016, unlike 2014 & 2015 sets; plus my lacklustre praying attitude prior to their feedback. |
I wonder why people keep blaming INEC for inconclusive elections! What do you expect from INEC when desperate politicians are busy using violence to win elections at all cost; declare rigged results? You either blame the desperate politicians, the security agents or u just keep quiet and allow INEC come up with the most acceptable results by all. |
fabiano09:It's because of people like you sensible people no longer contribute meaningfully through their comments on NL as no one, especially an adult, wants to get insulted by kids here. How can you come to a forum to insult people who never said anything offensive? |
DeeCherry:My dear, I couldn't agree more. When I see many private school "first class" guys in my office who don't sound half as smart as I expect, I just know their school fees earned them the first class. |
It's very unfortunate that Nigerians are acting unlearned. Having read to the 3rd page, I realized no one noticed d headline was misleading and totally different from the story. Everyone is just busy bashing the FG on removing subsidy. The govt has always said it works with price modulation; whatever it saved from selling petrol above the Estimated Open Market Price, it keeps in an escrow account to use it for subsidy when oil price/petrol price rises. I've noticed that Vanguard has set out to mislead gullible Nigerians who don't read enough to comprehend. What a shame! |
kenonze:Unfortunately, you and lastpage have been meeting the wrong which is not surprising anyways, such people are usually more desperate to meet girls. |
lobito007:The first thing I did after seeing that NTNU mail was to check out German schools as my mind is fixed on MSc this year. But my problem with some of them is that some of their requirements are "not cool" with me like Getting Professors as referees. If you know any school that offers Energy-related courses, requires no knowledge of German language and requests just academic/employer reference letters, not forms for referees to fill and send, Pls let me know. Another issue might be transcript sending, mine took 1.5months to reach NTNU, several German schools' deadlines are March end. |
rinzylee:I'm really pissed because I really want Nat Gas Tech. Any other course I do is just for the records that I'm done with MSC. I don't know how to drop my contact details on public forums. If you're comfortable with that, I can add you. Else, we'll have to find another way to talk. Except you're on twitter, add me. Then I can DM you my personal contact. |
NTNU just broke my heart! They said my GPA(4.18/5.00) is too low in comparison with candidates who have been offered admission. While my friend with a lower 4.16/5.00 got admission for same course last year. I feel horrible right now! |
One thing is very clear, the newspapers put up misleading headlines to either paint this govt in bad light or draw traffic to themselves by quoting incomplete statements from Ministers which suits those who only read headlines and not content. |
Festy4u:Which national television in particular? How come only you heard the announcement? Abi na only u waka come? |
When news broke out back in October, 2015 that D.S.P. Alams has passed on, a part of me had doubts about the authenticity of his death due to suspicious period such news broke out. Recall it was just a few days after Nigerian newspapers carried headlines that Alams was to be repatriated to the UK to face his unconcluded charges. Funny enough, virtually everyone around me then insisted he is dead for real insisting that "Death" is too serious an issue for someone to joke with even though his body wasn't shown to the public as a public figure! November passed, December passed, yet no burial. I asked same friends why no burial yet but they said "Maybe Bayelsa state govt is waiting to finish with the governorship election so Alams can get a state burial". Tomorrow makes it exactly 6 months since Alams passed on. The funny thing about this is that no one, not even the Bayelsa state govt is saying anything about his burial plans. Them no go bury Alams? Or has he decayed in the morgue? If this same man can go to the extent of dressing in Buba and Gele as a woman to escape justice in the UK, what isn't he capable of doing? Right now, I'm almost 100% confident that Alams is still alive. One thing is sure, he can't hide in Nigeria as he'll easily be found. His best bet is to run a small island of about 1000 residents and live a free life there. |
I'm guessing that a (possible) ban of overseas travel, school fees or what have you by CBN won't have any effect on this Norway ish in terms of forex. Cos i'm thinking that Norway MSc matter which is just transferring ur money from Nigeria to ur Norwegian account is different from paying school fees. Hope d banks here in Nigeria won't convert our naira to dollars using outrageous dollar exchange rate instead of a lower Norwegian Krone (NOK) before transferring it? |
that awkward moment when you find ur MD and and his deputy in a photo shoot with the governor... |
i recently heard that if one types his pin backwards e.g typing pin 1090 as 0901, assuming one is forced to an ATM by robbers to withdraw money, the card will block automatically. True? |
At this juncture, Mama Taraba should just terminate her case at the Supreme Court unless she has too much free money to dash SANs. |
AustineE1:You're just funny! Virtually everyone has forgotten that Peter Obi is currently serving in Buhari's govt as Chairman of SEC. GEJ gave him that appointment few days before leaving office as President. He promised him a position if he left APGA for PDP prior to the presidential election, unfortunately, GEJ lost, but quickly compensated him before handing over to Buhari. Peter Obi is just quietly occupying that office hoping the govt won't shine its light on him for a longtime to come an so far it's working. I'm sure one day his time will be up! Don't just rant with ethnic sentiments, this is Nigerian politics. It's still all abt PERSONAL INTEREST!!! |
rinzylee:News by this time? Applications are still ongoing by now. I'm yet to complete my UiS application sef. Senior staffs in my undergraduate university are on strike action. You'll have to wait till like March, April or May to get admission news. By the way, did you go ahead with the Telemark application? |
It's three months now since Alameiseighia was pronounced "dead", not a word has been mentioned about a single burial plan since then. Meanwhile, virtually everyone facing corruption charges has suddenly claimed one sickness or the other. But sick people shouldn't be strong enough to steal our yams. We are watching. #NaijaWeHailThee |
lobito007:Instead of abandoning ur dream of a Norwegian study, why not try less competitive schools like Telemark(TUC), now University College of SouthEast Norway. They offer two nice courses for Mechanical Engineering Students: Process Technology & Energy and Environmental Technology. The application is totally online. No need to send issued transcript and it's still open till January 15, 2016. But they insist on TOEFL/ IELTS. Don't limit ur options to NTNU and UiS. |
Nitta08:Most Norwegian schools exempt Nigeria from TOEFL/IELTS including NTNU. Your C6 and above in WAEC is all u need. For GRE, you don't need it at all. It's mostly for US schools. I'm yet to complete my application to another school, in this case UiS. |
Pls anyone who gets contacted by NTNU that they've received any document sent to them from Nigeria especially Transcript should inform me as soon as it happens so I know my stand. I'm yet to successfully get verifiable proof that my transcript is with them already. |
Ezegozie:While I quite agree with all ur points, the reality is you'll need nothing less than a 300k paying job for abt 3 yrs after ur NYSC to be able to afford both tuition and living expenses in Canada. Meaning one may have to chill till like 2018 thereabouts. While the N2.5m for Norway is quite easier to come up with in a shorter time. But once you can get into Canada, it's super worth it. So you can see why some of us are taking the shorter route even though it may not be the best choice of countries available. I only wished to work 2yrs here b4 Msc, now it's 2yrs plus. I can't wait beyond 2016 all for Canada. Another turn off for Norway is the language. The accent is crazy compared to French(pretty easy for me). I have two Norwegian colleagues here, one even dashed me an English-Norwegian dictionary. But d problem is, every sentence I learn and speak to them, they'll hardly understand till I virtually write it down for them to see what I was trying to say. I just tire! So my brother, like I've been told, I'm just gonna have faith in God on it. If He makes it possible for me to do my Msc in Norway, then He definitely has great plans for me. He's brought me this far to leave me to my fate. |
lobito007:This is what I saw on transcripts on UiS site : "Transcript of records from all university education If possible, should be issued directly by your university and provided in a sealed envelope. If not, it has to be a certified copy. Other copies are not accepted." I have a stamped copy of my transcript issued by my university as student's copy. I could easily pay my school to issue one directly to UiS for this application, but the thing is this UiS application is via courier and I don't have the time to forward my other documents to my school to add to my transcript as one parcel. I'm thinking of using the copy I have so I can go to DHL myself since they gave the option of using a certified transcript as well. What do you think? |
Anyone here planning to apply to UiS(Stavanger) here? Would like to make enquiries about certain issues. |
olajidegeo:Fasting and Prayer, Really? I feel like joining you this time. I'm not used to going this route throughout the course of my life. God has just been faithful to me considering how things have been working well for me all my life. Something deep down tells me I might need this this time. |
olajidegeo:What course did you settle with for UiT? |
I laughed my stomach out this evening in the TV room such that everyone thought I was going crazy after seeing this super talent in Mathematics. These are the kind of youths you'll find on Nairaland criticising and insulting bright minds like Fashola. Ordinary 'x' they can't find. No wonder you don't see reasonable and educating comments on NL anymore. Dullards have hijacked the site. As a result, most of my friends don't read comments here anymore. We just read the news and move to the next.
