As opaque as Nigeria NASS.
None of them since 1999 can ever reveal their budget and expenditure details. Each time I go through annual budgets all I see is one line item for the Nass. That's why they are one of the the most corrupt institutions in the world after Nepa and Nigerian police.
TravelRe: Nigerians In Oslo, Norway by olujastro: 7:29am On Apr 11, 2017
Renewable is growing but slowly, non renewable will continue to be dominant in the future. There are no jobs in Norway at the moment. The politics of oil prices has never been this complex so no one can say categorically that things will pick up soon. Thousands have since been laid off from work, same thing worldwide. Those who graduated before oil prices crashed got jobs. All those I met when I got here who graduated last year have moved to other countries, some back to Nigeria, while some still remain doing other things. Have you seen entry level oil jobs ads in Nigeria? It's the same thing almost everywhere. Oil is oil.
We have given you almost all you need to know to inform your choice of Norway. Do your research about Ireland, compare your options and decide which suits you more.
I know people will still ask this question about jobs. Nothing in life is certain, not even the life that you have. All we're doing is taking a chance in the midst of uncertainties for whatever lies ahead.
PoliticsRe: Where Did We Get It Wrong? by olujastro: 8:16am On Apr 10, 2017
How we got it wrong? Simply Bad leaders and more importantly Bad followers.
Bad leaders loot when they should be taking the followers out of poverty, while bad followers hail their looting leaders because they come from the same tribe/region and fail to hold the leaders accountable.
PoliticsRe: How EFCC Can Win Corruption Cases In Court – Obasanjo by olujastro: 8:02am On Apr 10, 2017
Sanchez01:
Our judiciary is still as corrupt as the other arms. Having your own prosecution team is indeed the best way to winning.

Putting an end to media trial should as well cease so as to keep the element of surprise intact.
When the govt loses a court case, those who hate this govt always rush to scream "media trial". But when they win, the same haters get ashamed and hide their ugly faces to the EFCC's success. Truth is, in legal matters, you win some and lose some.
But I keep wondering... Is it not money that belongs to all the citizens of Nigeria that was looted? How come some are happy that criminals will keep their loots and walk free when others don't know where their next meal will come from?
Why has politics so blinded us to our suffering reality that we overlook it for people who don't care about you.
I expect every single Nigerian to always condemn corruption whether you hate the president or not. We should not be this shameless if we expect the country to become better in the near future.
Having said that, the only case where it looks like the judiciary gave corrupt judgement is the Justice Ademola's case which the F. G has appealed.

Or delaying court processes while heaping more allegations on an accused just to make them look bad to the masses.
Yes, I agree. The same accused looters claiming media trial will start frustrating the case with adjournments upon adjournments or fake sickness once they get bail, instead of them to be in a hurry to clear their names as obtainable in saner climes.
I'm not surprised that corrupt people have many supporters in Nigeria, after all the devil has supporters too.
PoliticsRe: Media Trial, What Media Trial? by olujastro: 2:00pm On Apr 07, 2017
This is what I've always said. Nigerians don't understand the right use of words.
Media trial is just exactly Tinubu's scenario, put it all over the media during the election to ruin his image without charging him to court is what media trial means.
Whereas when the media reports proceedings from the courts on people being prosecuted for corruption, they wrongly call that media trial. Is the media not supposed to report judicial proceedings before?
Too many educated illiterates!

Joker. Your wife alone has $21.34M without having a job or the intellect to own such and you still get mouth.
Truth is even though Baba hasn't met most of our aspirations with his snail speed, Nigerians I know will not allow these nothing but massive thieves gain access to the National Treasury again, at least for now.
We know the PDP is in disarray because the national treasury uniting them together in looting for 16yrs is no more there.
For this reason, PDP stands no chance at all in 2019.
I still maintain that it's better to have our monies Largely safe than Brazenly stolen.

We really need a state of emergency in this all important sector as we can't achieve much without power.
The same low water and gas constraints everyday since the 1980's. To my knowledge no pipeline Vandalism this year so gas turbines should have been getting gas by now. Why gas constraints again? Fashola needs to do some explaining on this ASAP.
Other countries with steady power for over 30yrs get 10 heads ni?

Already developed countries are still moving faster than Nigeria wey no get basic amenities like electricity, water, health care, transport, etc. By the time they achieve 'life possibility in Mars' and start scrambling for land there, we go just dey celebrate 10hrs of uninterrupted electricity.
No wonder our passport is still worthless for travel purposes cos they just believe every Nigerian wants to escape to a better country where things work well.

The same govt that has never owed federal workers salary despite much lower revenues and yesterday just paid outstanding pensions piled from previous govts will suddenly not have money to pay salaries when oil price and production is somewhat steady?

PoliticsRe: Recovery Plan: Buhari Okays $4.5b Chinese Loan For 36 States, FCT by olujastro: 8:27am On Apr 05, 2017
EFCC is still tracing the accounts through which several state governors looted the Paris club refunds (and still didn't pay up salaries), yet Baba is still forming a large heart for these largely 36 thieves.
The only loan I support is loan for capital projects like the railway lines the Chinese are building around the country as it grows the economy and govt can easily recoup its investment from those projects. Anything short of that is just creating a broad way for these mostly looting governors.
Imagine the next govt having to repay a loan that was looted.
PoliticsRe: FG Should Drop Saraki’s CCT Case, APC Senators Tell Party by olujastro: 6:59am On Apr 05, 2017
Nigerian lawmakers since time immemorial don't care about their party or the nation, but their own interests only. That's why they decamp at will within minutes and stall budgets for months that would serve the masses.
Unfortunately, many Nigerians prefer this drama to actual developmental progress.
The same Saraki that I watched live saying that the 2017 budget will be passed at the very latest in March, has now switched to Nollywood/drama mode of chasing shadows till April.
Do you know why Lagos is always commissioning projects back to back since Fashola to Ambode? Because their budgets are always passed very early, latest mid January. That's why they easily achieve at least 70% budget implementation each year, while that of Nigeria is slowed down by useless Senators.
Keep hailing them because you hate Buhari while your future continues in Bleak mode.

Virtually every govt official stole from the IB's govt. That's why stealing couldn't be equal to corruption.
What would you rather have, for your money to be Largely safe or Brazenly stolen?
That's why even though extremely slow, Buhari still has large number of supporters. Our monies have to be somewhat safe first before we can talk of developing the country. Massive looting is the only reason we haven't developed all these years.
PoliticsRe: How Saraki And Friends Will Plunge Nigeria Into Its Next Recession by olujastro: 4:26pm On Apr 04, 2017
This is no news. I have been saying this for weeks now that the useless Senate gulping N120b annually for doing nothing has forgotten that we don't have 2017 budget in place since December, instead they're busy chasing shadows of custom's uniform and Magu.
I only pity the large number of ignorant Nigerians who are hailing the useless Senators that are busy doing nothing about their future. When the drama is over you will turn around and blame Buhari.

Ugosample:
Continues....

When Nigeria sowed the seed that grew into a tree with ripe fruits of suffering and penury was when in 2012, then preferred to keep a subsidy that was gulping billions of dollars per annum, instead of doing away with it.
This is even ironic because today, we are paying N145 for a litre when oil prices has halved, and hunger has multiplied, as opposed to N141 when oil prices were still much higher
Nigeria ate her today yesterday and we are all paying for it.
In Sanusi's words back then, he said it clear that if this subsidy regime continues, the next government in 2015 will smell pepper, and as if he was a prophet, that is what is happening today.

Billions of dollars we would have saved wasted on subsidy.

That said, who were those who put the FG under pressure to share the ECA?
Wouldn't that have also been a saving for us? but in usual black man fashion, the governors squandered out today yesterday.

You also talk about the militant activities in the ND.
This to me is the bigger failure of the current admin. With his careless comments and bravado, he set the ND on fire, instead of him to extend an olive branch to all regions to prove that indeed, the elections are over, he decided to polarize the country and what happened after was a direct result of his carelessness.
And due to the avoidable attacks, Nigeria lost billions of dollars that we would have used for better things

One other thing that led to the massive capital flight we saw in Jan 2016 was due to the fact that our mumu president took six months to assemble a useless cabinet.
Which serious government takes six months to constitute a cabinet? The international community of investors saw an unserious admin in Buhari's presidency, and pulled out at least $40B out.

What excuse is there for this level of unserious behaviour?
And to further show you that the gov is useless, threepresidents were sworn in Jan 2017, Donald Trump, Adama Barrow and Akufo Addo, and they all had theircabinet in place and hit the ground running.

I'm not saying that the former admin did not have its faults, but this one is just a useless one, and a big disaster.
so leave matter
If you read my last comment on the screenshots you'll find the answer to everything you've raised.
And the reasons I wouldn't exactly want Buhari back is because of his extremely slow pace of progress. Whether it's old age or his nature, I don't know but Baba is way too slow for the kind of progress I want for my country. Secondly, was his stubborn, military approach to the Vandalism issue. It was uncalled for.

Pls I need advise from guru in the house. If I am able to borrow the money and transfer, will the money be available for me to return when I get there?
What's the possibility that I can get a menial job to survive while studying?
Thanks
Congratulations to you guys on your admission.
Towards the end of September, latest first week of October, your account should be up and running and your school will transfer the money back to you and will likely take out rents for Aug, Sept, Oct.
For job, no one can answer that. I'll use a few examples to give you a clue.
My friend in tromso was lucky to get a job 2wks after arriving in August.
The last time I was in touch with my friends in trondheim was early January and they were still looking for work.
Those in porsgrunn too say they haven't gotten jobs.
I managed to get a job here last week, that's 8 months after arrival, while others that came with me are still searching. Some have gotten jobs and lost it too due to the current economic mess in Norway now.
So if you can live a life of uncertainty, good for you, as for me I can not, cos if you don't have your own money, chances are you'll be spending more time worried about where your next month's rent will come from. And nothing like under bridge here.
Your story might be different eventually, who knows.
My advice is, have at least half of the money as your own so you can manage it till you find a job.
BusinessRe: We’ll Push Dollar To N305—CBN Boasts by olujastro: 6:26am On Mar 30, 2017
I don't understand this CBN at all. I don't think smart people work there. Why not go all out in this fx war at once since you've chosen this path?
You want to achieve 305. Black market fell to 365 on Tuesday, instead of reducing your rate for invisibles further on a daily basis from 360 while continuously injecting fx into the system till you attain 305 to further for crash the black market to between 310-315, you stay quiet for 48hrs and allowed the black market to rise to 375 again.
Is the CBN not smart enough to know that at their price of 360 + bureaucracy, Nigerians will throng the black market instead at 365, and their increased demand will make them raise their rates?
Or is there a plan to further devalue to 350? Mbok, they should just float the Naira at once if so.

They make me hate democracy sometimes.

For Buhari the slow man, I know it will take forever for him to intervene in this issue. This is my only problem with PMB, being too freaking slow to take urgent actions!

Wanderlustian, great thread I must say!

I love adventures as well and I'm planning a Euro trip this summer. I haven't done this before. I first got inspired to do this several years ago during my bachelors programme in Nigeria after watching the movie "Euro Trip". Now with your audacious step, I long for this more.
Could have taken a vacation for it while working in Nigeria but I was getting tired of things there and decided to put my money together for a masters degree in Europe, and from there embark on my adventurous trip.

I'm looking at spending at least 1 day in say 7 countries but not more than 10 days for the entire trip. From the little mapping I did this morning I managed to come up with a tentative route. From Norway where I reside, fly to Amsterdam(Netherlands), train to Brussels(Belgium), to Paris(France), to Stuttgart(Germany), to Zurich(Switzerland), to Milan(Italy), and fly from Milan finally back to Norway.

My budget for the entire trip is around 500 Euros. I hope that will be sufficient to cover all expenses?
From your experience, train will be my best option to quickly touch all these places in a short time.

I hope my friend here decides to join me on this cos it looks like you wouldn't have enjoyed your trip without your baby's company.
Chao!

I've never been interested in these petty certificate issues. What is wrong with Nigeria and Nigerians for God's sake!
After the elections, our focus should shift immediately to development and accountability. The Senate has yet to pass the 2017 budget since December so we can fast track further release of funds for capital projects, instead they're more interested in chasing people to wear uniforms or remove Magu who has been their nightmare due to their own corrupt actions.
Are we going to be dealing with scandals till 2019 and turn our country into an election country with little or no development in between the election cycles?
Wtf!

So many ignorant posts here.
BDCs are different from aboki in the black market. The CBN supplies the BDCs fx legitimately at 381 and asked them to sell at a maximum of 399 when the black market was Crazily high at 500.
Now that the black has crashed below the BDC rates, they're asking the CBN to adjust their rates so they can stay in business ahead of the black market.
