Politics / An Initiative For A Better Nigeria!! by Oluwapresley(m): 1:17pm On Dec 25, 2017 |
Nigeria - It’s time for Our Generation! I have been silent about Nigeria because rather than add another layer of talk to the available debates, I have been spending time working and thinking about practical things that my generation can do to make Nigeria better. I have also been observing a few laudable initiatives from a few people, and I think it’s time! Don’t get me wrong, it’s not time for us to run for President, except of course we want to add trying to be president to our curriculum vitae. Outside of this, if we really want to make a practical stab at statesmanship and lending our skills and talents to the polity, it would be by being practical and serious. In 2011, I went around Nigeria campaigning for a ticket I believed in. I campaigned for people to get PVC, I became a mobile registration centre for party membership for a party in Nigeria. I even got involved in helping to set up a political party. I took my own personal funds, canvassed with my friends to do the same, and travelled around Nigeria meeting with different communities, going to churches and visiting mosques to convince and show support for a ticket I believed in. I traveled by road and by air. I printed fliers, printed a brochure, and committed no less than the energy of business to this enterprise. I spent and I was spent. I didn’t want anything in return, I only wanted to play my part in a Nigeria that works. The ticket did not win in 2011, but Buhari would not have been an option in 2015 if not for the efforts we put in in 2011. He would not have a Pastor as His vice if not for the effort we put in 2011. I remember the call that Debola put across to me in 2015 when they were getting set to endorse and support Buhari’s candidacy. What we did back then was real, and the people we rallied to make it happen are alive. 2011 and 2015 were our years to serve those who will serve, our time to serve the people is here! Demographically, Nigeria has more people under 35 than above it. The generation of middle age people are in the majority, but politics is not just a game of numbers, it’s in strategic numbers. When 6 lions totally disorient a herd of 3,000 buffalo’s it’s not about the numbers, it’s about the strategy, the synergy, and the proactive thought that goes on before the encounter. If my generation will ever serve this nation, and use all the endowments we have to further her cause we must be strategic. Here is what I believe we need to do! I believe we need to run for elective offices. We need 50 Nigerians under 50 from different cities in Nigeria and with different faiths who have interest in a New Nigeria and in it’s leadership. These should be 50 people with the following qualifications 1. Solid profile - People who have actually demonstrated that they can solve problems, provide leadership and show enough personal mastery to be given responsibility for others. 2. Sustainable - People who are able to sustain themselves, and their families, and do not need to be in government to be sustained. It must not be about the rewards of office, these people must have transcended food, shelter and clothing. 3. Followership - People who can schedule a meeting and 1,000 people will show up. 4. Interest - People who have done some things in the past that shows that they have interest in Nigeria and in its leadership. My desire is if we can find 4 of these people from every state in Nigeria, we can organize them together in such a way that they can leverage on each others influences, provide support in exchange for support from key officers running for elective offices in 2019. These people can run for State Assembly or National Assembly positions now and in 2023. At the end of all the shuffling and stepping aside, we can be left with 50 solid Nigerians under the age of 50, who can begin to make their entry into the political terrain. Doing this for 2019 will be rehearsals, we can’t expect anything really other than the people we each support winning, but if we get a few offices in, in 2019, that would be amazing. If we can get together these types of people, I daresay, we can get the President to meet with them, get a few Governors to address them and show them some ropes. We can get them to begin to work on policy ideas and agenda that they will push in the house, way ahead of their being there. If we can have good representation in the Legislature we would be the backbone of any serious executive. We have seen first hand, that presidency alone will not move Nigeria forward. We need to evolve the Nation we want by bombarding it purposefully from every side. Do you have people you will like to nominate for this 50 under 50 conference? Why not simply offer us their names, why you think they are qualified based on the 4 requirements above and, I am sorry for now - their state of origin. Please submit them here publicly on facebook or fill their names privately in this form. https:///TXriZ9 Please feel free to SHARE this on your page, and get your friends to fill this form. Success would be having enough contenders from each state of Nigeria. This plan obviously doesn’t cover all elements but we must begin to act rather than theorize. Questions like which party, how will it work? Won’t they be infiltrated? These are very good questions, but what I have learnt from business and a little politics is if we don’t venture, we never learn. So let’s get on the ship, learn from those who have gone ahead, solve the challenges on the way and at the end, deliver the Nigeria of our dreams. To this I pledge. Do you? https:///TXriZ9

These guys deserve it.. but I'm more concerned about the end of this gesture. These moneys would be spent outside the country at the end of the day. if you know economics very well and you know cash inflow and outflow, you would know that this philanthropic act doesn't grow the economy of Nigeria. My own take anyways. |

I hope after reading through, you would know how "tithe" has destroyed some people's lives. Its not long. just read. https://www.nairaland.com/3096665/should-pay-tithe-pay-brothers Now, I don't mean tithing is wrong. But what is wrong is when our so called pastors feed us with so much lies that we get scared in making daily choices. If he had not been fed with lies, he would have paid his brother's school fees without thinking twice.. But he had been fed with so much lies that he dint want to be cursed at the expense of his brother's education. |

God’s people of the New Covenant are NOT called to be tithers, they are called to be “generous givers.” Is it wrong to tithe? Absolutely not. It is simply not a requirement under the New Covenant. Many of you may be shocked at this revelation. But, the truth is often shocking. Particularly, when it goes against everything that you have been taught. And the truth is, you have not been taught the whole truth. In The Truth About Tithing, Part I, it was unveiled that one part of the Law of tithing allowed the people of Israel to redeem or get back some of their tithes if they wanted it. This was stated in Leviticus 27:31. Another aspect of the Law of tithing permitted the people of Israel to keep their yearly tithes and to give their tithe every three years to the priests or Levites. This can be found in (Deuteronomy 14: 22-28). Pastors of today are choosing to follow the Old Testament Law of tithing, but are not following all of it. Why is this? Why are the people of God being kept in the dark about the whole law of tithing? It can only be for one of three reasons: 1. They have their own deceptive motives and seek self gain. 2. They are sincerely ignorant to the truth of God’s Word concerning tithing. 3. All of the above. The word tithe , tithes , or tithing appears in all of the Bible, both Old and New Testaments only 36 times! Yet, you will hear this word tithe being used in the pulpit more than you hear the word, LOVE which itself appears in the Bible hundreds of times. It is obvious to the spiritual eye that there is something wrong with this picture. This one word, tithe , appears only 36 times in the Bible, yet pastors of today want to build their entire ministry around it. Of the 36 times that tithe, tithes, or tithing appears in the Bible, it appears in the New Testament 6 times. Of those 6 times, Jesus uses the word 3 times as He speaks to the Pharisees, in the books of Mark and Luke; and the other 3 times it is used in the book of Hebrew where it is declared that Abraham gave a tenth part of the spoils of war to Melchizedek, the High Priest. The Bible does not record the use of the term tithe, tithes, or tithing by Jesus' disciples. Neither is Paul recorded as using the word either. If tithing was such an importance to the New Covenant which Jesus implemented, you would think that it would have been mentioned by the disciples of the New Covenant; at least once! If Paul and the other disciples did not talk about tithing, or it was not important enough to record that they did, then what did they talk about? We’ll get to that later. Let’s look at the scriptures that pastors like to use today to get the people to give up one tenth of their earnings weekly, monthly, but never yearly! Of the 30 in the Old Testament, they like to use only one! And, that is, Malachi 3:8-11: “Will a man rob God? Yet you are robbing Me! But you say, how have we robbed Thee? In tithes and offerings. You are cursed with a curse, for you are robbing Me, the whole nation of you! Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me in this, says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven, and pour out for you a blessing that you won’t have room to receive. Then I will rebuke the devourer for you, so that it may not destroy the fruits of the ground; nor will your vine in the field cast its grapes, says the Lord of hosts. And all the nations will call you blessed, for you shall be a delightful land,” says the Lord of hosts.” Woe, to some of you pastors for you have run many a people away from the church by not telling them the whole truth. Woe to some of you, for you have consistently and continuously told God's people that they would be cursed for not giving up a tenth of their earnings to you. But, not ONCE, did you ask them how you could help them turn on their lights, or how you could help them buy a car to get to work, or how you could help them to feed their children, or how you could help them fund their children’s college, or how you could help them just make ends meet! There are hurting people sitting in congregations week after week, and all the religious leaders are concerned about is a tenth part of their earnings; and not just the net, you want the GROSS. Even God was more generous to the Israelites who were allowed on occasion to keep their tithes or to redeem back their tithes if they needed to. But, let’s look at Malachi 3:8-12 and determine where this scripture came from and why. The name, Malachi, means, "My Messenger." God identifies the prophet Malachi as His messenger. What message did God deliver through Malachi and to whom? The book of Malachi opens with God expressing His love for His chosen people. (Malachi 1:1-5). There’s that word LOVE again. He wanted His people to know that He loved them. That’s really what it is all about pastors. It’s about LOVE, not tithing. But, we’ll get to that later, too. There are only four chapters in the book of Malachi. In the first two chapters God delivers a message to the corrupt priests. In chapter 1, verse 6 He tells the priests, “You don’t honor me, you don’t respect me, and you despise my name.” In the remainder of the chapter, He accuses them of bringing less than perfect offerings and sacrifices to the altar. It was the custom for the priests of Israel to offer burnt sacrifices to God for the atonement of the peoples’ sin. They were the only ones who could offer sacrifices upon the altar. In Leviticus, chapter 22: 17-33, He told the priests that the animals that were sacrificed had to be flawless. But what was happening that made God respond in Malachi, was that the flawless animals were being kept and the lame and sick ones sacrificed. God says in Hosea 4:8-9 from the Revised Edition, “The priests fed on the people’s sins. They wanted more and more of their sin offerings. So the priests are no different from the people. I will punish them for the things they did. I will pay them back for the wrong things they did.” In chapter 2 of Malachi, God tells the priests that if they don’t listen and give honor to Him, then He would send a curse upon them, curse their blessings, rebuke their offspring, and spread vomit on their faces. He goes on to give them a lesson in priesthood. He tells the priests that the lips of a priest should preserve knowledge and men should seek instruction from his mouth because he is a messenger of the Lord. But, God chastises them and tells them that they are no messenger of His because they have turned away from Him, causing the people to stumble and showing partiality in instruction; that is teaching part of the law, but not all of the law. Sound familiar? He also chastises them for divorcing the wife of their youth for their own selfish reasons. **Important Note: The Old Testament priests were allowed to marry. (Ex.18:1; Lev.7:34,35; 22:12,13). In chapter 3 of Malachi, God declares that He will send His messenger, a true messenger of God who will declare the truth and will declare the coming of Jesus Christ, a purifier of men that their offerings may be presented in righteousness. “I am going to send My messenger, and he will clear the way before Me. And the Lord, who you seek, will suddenly come to His temple; and the messenger of the covenant, in whom you delight, behold, He is coming, says the Lord of hosts. But who can endure the day of His coming? And who can stand when He appears? For He is like a refiner’s fire and like fullers’soap. And He will sit as a smelter and purifier of silver, and He will purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, so that they may present to the Lord offerings in righteousness.” God cautions the priests to return to Him and He would return to them. Then, the priests asked, "How shall we return?" God answered and said let’s begin with the fact that you are robbing from me, your whole nation is. And He precedes to tell them what they needed to do. Malachi delivered a message from God to the priests. Yet, pastors today want to use Malachi 3:8-12 to make God's people feel guilty and accursed when they don't give a tenth of their earnings. Religious leaders also like to justify tithing under the New Covenant by pointing to the fact that Jesus mentioned the word tithes . Well, of all the hundreds of things that Jesus said, He only mentioned tithing 3 times and that was in Matthew 23:23; Luke 11:42, and Luke 18:12. In all three instances guess who He was talking to? He was talking to the Pharisees, the religious leaders! If you look at these passages beginning with Matthew 23:23 what was Jesus actually saying? Listen to what He said to them: “ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees.. hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill and cumin, and have neglected the weightier provisions of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness: but these are the things you should have done without neglecting the others.” The emphasis in this passage clearly is NOT tithing. Yet pastors want to make us think it is. The emphasis in Matthew 23:23 and Luke 11:42 is the fact that you cannot exercise parts of the Law and forsake the others, which is what the Pharisees were doing. In fact, Jesus says that more important than tithing is justice, mercy, and faithfulness. Moreover, the Pharisees and the Jewish people were expected to tithe because they were still under the Mosaic Law. The New Covenant had not yet been established. Pastors also like to use Hebrews 7 to justify tithing under the New Covenant. But, look at what this scripture references. It references the Old Testament. This is the scripture where Abraham goes to war, defeats his enemy and gave a tenth part of the spoils to the High Priest by the name of Melchizedek. Notice, the passage reminds us more than once, in verses 5, 11, 19, and 28 that this notion of tithing was under the Law of Moses and was a law given to the Israelites to tithe and give them to the Levitical priests who are out of the loins of Abraham. The emphasis is not tithing in Hebrews 7, it is the fact that Abraham tithed to a Christ-like figure by the name of Melchizedek. But, now there is one, Jesus Christ, who has authored a better covenant of which He is the guarantor; thereby nullifying the need for high priests, because Jesus is THE only High Priest we will ever need. Many have attempted to take the emphasis away from Jesus as the ultimate High Priest and put it on tithing. 16 Likes 3 Shares |

Exempted: Tithing isn't wrong. There was no commandment when Abraham gave the first tithe the Bible ever recorded. It was done out of his free will. But nowadays, pastors indirectly makes giving of tithe a compulsion. Truth is, you might never accept it but 90% of the people that pay tithe today pay it out of the fear that if they don't pay it, they are robbing God. Truth is, who can rob God? No one! 90% of the people that pay it today pay it cox they fear they don't wanna be cursed which was what Pastor Adeboye said.. "Divine curse". Imagine? Divine curse? I won't serve a God that would curse me, no matter what I do! You might not accept it but you pay tithe today because it has been infused in you from the beginning that when you don't pay, the devourer won't be rebuked for your sake. 10 Likes |

WHAT TRIGGERED THE MARTIN LUTHER REFORMATION? Here is the story, and why I think the Church is back to where it was before the Martin Luther Reformation exactly 500 years ago. 1. Before 1517, everyone belonged to the Roman Catholic Church which was the official religion, with the Pope as the head. The Pope had the final say on all issues concerning religion. 2. Pope Leo X wanted to build a fanciful Church building called St. Peters Basilica in Rome. The building was going to cost him so much. Hence, he decided to raise money from the sale of indulgences from purgatory. 3. Purgatory was invented by the Catholic Pope during the Crusades in order to get more men into the army. The pope claimed he could buy souls back from hell. His soldiers believed him and the practice continued. 4.The manipulation of the people through the sale of indulgences from purgatory(Offering God money in order to get God's favor) infuriated Martin Luther. The same idea of indulgences and purgatory was why MANDATORY TITHES and offerings got established in the early Church. 'God gets excited at the sound of coins in the offering plate'. 5. On Oct. 31st, 1517, a Roman Catholic Monk named Martin Luther posted 95 Theses on the door of the Church claiming salvation was by faith alone, among others. He claimed the Pope had no power to forgive sins or collect indulgences from purgatory. His 5 pillars were, 1) sola fide( faith alone), 2) sola scriptura (by scriptures alone), 3) solus Christus (through Christ alone), 4)sola gratia (by grace alone), 5)soli deo gloria (for God's glory alone) 6. The posting of the theses happened at the early beginnings of the invention of the print media, just like today's internet. Within weeks, Luther's theses was widespread all over Germany, and all over Europe within months. 7. Before that, nobody had challenged the authority of the Church or Pope and lived. The Church had killed all scientists, historians or anyone who had a contrary view to the Pope. Often burning them publicly or beheading them. 8. Hence, the posting of the Theses was like Martin Luther posting his own death notice. Ever heard the story of David and Goliath? The Pope was Goliath, Martin Luther was not even a David, he was a worm. The Pope could crush him easily. Somehow, the Pope was not able to. He referred to Luther as a wild boar. Luther often referred to the Pope as a 'lustful dog'. 9. Martin Luther was summoned by the council of Church and State to recant his writings. He declared he wouldn't as he was prepared to die for what his conscience believed. 10. Meanwhile, he remained in the Roman Catholic Church as starting another form of Christianity was not his goal. Luther's mission was to reform the Roman Catholic Church. 11. The Pope declared Luther a non-grata, meaning whoever killed him was doing God a favor. His life was put at risk. 12. Martin Luther was then kidnapped by close friends and hidden in a castle. His physical form was disguised for fear that he would be killed. He had already become so popular in Europe through his writings. 13. While hidden away and in Isolation, he translated the entire Bible for the first time into German from Latin, giving everyone access to the Bible for the first time. From German, it was then translated into other languages. This officially put an end to the dark age, the age of gross illiteracy. 14. Before Luther's Bible, the Bible had only existed in Greek and Latin which only Priests had access to. You could be killed if found with a copy of the Bible. This gave the Priests so much power, similar to today's Priests and Pastors. 15. As more people read the Bible for themselves, revolts broke out all over Europe as people saw how the Church had taken advantage of them over many years. The Pope lost so much power and the Roman Catholic Church became irrelevant. Luther called out the Popes, Bishops, and princes without mincing words, often challenging them to public debates. 16. Because everyone now had the Bible, different sections began to break out of the Catholic Church every man claiming his own revelation. There were the Lutherans, Calvinists, Puritans, Unitarians, Anglicans, and many more. The differences between them were so slight and insignificant, and denominationalism was born. This revolt led to the killing of so many of the revolters by the Catholic Church. 17. Each of these denominations grew so much in power, became capitalists and began to practice in new forms and with new languages, exactly what the Catholic Church was doing that led to the break out of the reformation in the first place. 18. Denominationalism then became Capitalism. Churches became more about big and beautiful buildings, how much profit you can get from the people, selling cajoles to people in exchange for money in order to fund the lavish lifestyles. 19. 500 years after, we are back to where it all began. We are practicing that old form of Catholicism. The church now is about money and buildings, tithes and offerings. 20. Who shall write for us another 95 theses? 500 years of the Reformation. We are still bleeding... Success O. Fakolade, MD Oct. 2017 Pray for the Church!!! And you know the worst part of everything? When people pay their tithe, the pastor calls them out and prays for them with a specific tone; "God bless these ones that have given to you." The others that don't have to give, they are left to say amen to the prayers for others. And you say you are giving willingly? Nope, you are not!! You are giving to avoid being cursed cox the pastor makes you feel that not giving when others are giving carries a curse already... and he tries to buttress his point by praying for them specially. I always ask; do you know how many people have lost loved ones because they had to choose between paying their tithe or paying their loved one's medical bills? Do you know how many marriages have been broken and how many people have become homeless cox they decided to choose between paying tithe and doing the needful? My God won't want that kind of dealings. He wants you to be happy; Not broken as a result of the loss of your loved ones, not homeless, not a divorcé. He wants a cheerful giver, not a giver under compulsion!!! But pastors have made you give under compulsion because they make you feel you are robbing God and as a result you would be cursed! Very wrong!!! Very Very Wrong!!! "No one taketh My life, I lay It down." So if you can't take God's life, how do you think you can rob God? Hahaha.. 255 Likes 47 Shares |

I don't even know why I booked space here..*sigh I guess I'm just gonna talk about something else. So I just realised that "will you marry me" is just a question/formality. A positive response also doesn't mean you are married. Until you say "I do" under the umbrella of a constituted authority and sign the necessary documents, you aren't still married yet! Ask someone who is deaf or dumb. Modified*** Getting a ring also immediately after the question doesn't mean you are married; so don't go running around in awkward excitement that he proposed! or that she proposed.. lol I'm trying to evolve in my text. The way it is now, ladies also propose and guys do the running around and the awkward excitement thingie.. lol Anyways, my point is, until you are joined by an authority, you aren't married yet. Which brings me to my point exactly! There are things you have to do for a contract to be binding.. There are other things you do that seemingly feels like that contract is binding. For instance, you conclude your secondary school education and you already feel like I'm in the university. You understand, right? it happens. it's inherent. That feeling has been imputed by society. Brother, you have to write JAMB, Post JAMB, pass and get accepted by the institution. This is my point Sorry for taking your time thus far. THERE IS ONLY ONE WAY TO GET SAVED! IT IS THROUGH JESUS AND JESUS ALONE!!!! There are things you do today and it feels like you are saved! You go to church, you are a worker in Church, you have joined all the Christian WhatsApp groups........ Brother, check yourself! IF YOU HAVEN'T CONFESSED JESUS CHRIST TODAY, YOU AREN'T SAVED! THAT IS THE ONLY WAY TO GET SAVED! ROMANS 10:9! John 3:16- For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not die but have everlasting life.
