But this year NO african player in any big club and top league won a trophy dis year aside Mikel and Moses
Alex Song!!!! (BARCELONA)
SportsRe: FIFA's World Player Of The Year Shortlist by omar22(m): 4:29pm On Oct 30, 2013
naija noni: If Jay Jay Okocha had won a trophy during d peak of his career,he would have won d african player of the year award.Becos his performance during his time was far better than the africans that were winning d award then.
Trophies matters a lot especially when it comes to African player of the year awards.
And when was his peak? When he was at Bolton? fighting relegation, I believe that was the same time Ghanaians Sammy Kuffour was at the heart of Bayern Munich's defence leading them glory

Or was that the year a Senegalis team inspired by El Hadjj Diouf to the Quarter Finals of the world cup (Naija got back home before the post card)

Katongo won only d afcon and did nothing great after that both for his country and club. Was playing for a poor club in a poor league. But he still won d BBC African Footballer of d year award last yr.
How about that ??.
Compare that to mikel dat has been consistent ever after winning d afcon and playing for one of d best clubs in europe and even won a big trophy with d club(europa league).Participated in d confeds cup and was outstanding.Qualified his team for d worldcup(in anticipation).
Did Katongo win the African Player of the years? No

Since the Nations cup Mikel has been on the bench for Chelsea due very poor performce compare that to Yaya Toure who has been ever presence in the heart of the Midfield of Man City.

its like saying we should give the Award to Alex Song because he won La Liga sitting on the bench

Teyman henry: African player of the year depends on your performance in the nations cup first... then your club side follows
Oh please!!!! I cant remember Drogba or Ivory coast winning the AFCON and he has won it how many times now?

So when Oprah Winfrey called all Nigerians crooks
then some weeks later she said Genevieve is African's Julia Roberts,
Nigerians started acting as if Oprah is the next best thing since slice bread.

striker9: I agree to the fact Yaya is better, his very fast and has got pace.Mikel has performed better for the national team than Yaya and that can't be overlooked either. For instance,Mikel,Tiote,Keita etc performed better than Yaya at the Afcon.
Because Nigeria won doesnt mean Mikel performed better than Yaya Toure, ok lets give that month of February to Mikel, what happened in Jan, Mar, April, May, June, july, Aug ==>> Date? or do you think the APOTY is for one month? Messi didnt compete at EURO2013 but won the Ballon d'or, Gareth Bale won nothing but won the PFA player of the season. winning the AFCON doesnt mean a whole year is covered.

Those who are jumping on the Mikel gravy train, hasn't answered my question! Is Mikel better than Yahya Toure?

And those who are mentioning the AfrCON no one mentioned an Zambian player last year when they won it

SportsRe: FIFA's World Player Of The Year Shortlist by omar22(m): 4:31pm On Oct 29, 2013
striker9: NO,but he has won more trophies of late, which also counts in comparing there achievements and can never be overlooked.
Well Yaya Toure has won more honours than Mikel

And Remember Yaya has won a league title in Greece, Spain and England
SportsRe: FIFA's World Player Of The Year Shortlist by omar22(m): 4:23pm On Oct 29, 2013
Ikenna94: who cares even zidane is far beta dan toure bt is nt dere because it all boils down 2 d yr in view, in dat case mikel was beta dan yaya toure.even moses who single handedly gave chelsea d europa league
Exactly Moses was player of the Tournament AFCON, and scored in every round of the Europa cup except the final and helped Chelsea to third place
SportsRe: FIFA's World Player Of The Year Shortlist by omar22(m): 4:22pm On Oct 29, 2013
striker9: I'm not using one game ok,I was only replying the dude that was trying to mock Mikel with a goal Yaya scored.Yaya is good but please Mikel has been better for the national side.
Its a straight forward question is Mikel better than Yaya Toure?
SportsRe: FIFA's World Player Of The Year Shortlist by omar22(m): 4:10pm On Oct 29, 2013
striker9: I know Kanu isn't speaking for anyone, and don't use that Yaya's goal to judge Mikel na,I hope you remember who marked Yaya from the rear when he had the ball one-on-one against Enyeama at AFCON.
So you want to use one game in February to give an award for a whole year and remember Victor Moses won player of the Tournament
SportsRe: FIFA's World Player Of The Year Shortlist by omar22(m): 4:08pm On Oct 29, 2013
Ikenna94: wat did yaya toure do to be in d list or dey want 2 apease him 4 d racist row.david alaba deserves to be in dat list more dan 20 percent of people dere. Fifa is realy mesing up
He was at the heart of Man City from January to date!

Mikel is a bench warmer most of the last 10 months

emmasege: On the basis of this, Issa Hayattou will find it easy to crown his francophone brother (Toure) as the African footballer for 2013, even when it's obvious that Mikel has achieved more than him in the out-going year with enormous contributions to club, country and the continent.
What makes you think Mikel is a better than Yaya Toure?

Waiting @ d hall entrance, I realised I was d only black person in d midst of so many Indians. As i began to feel intimidated, I noticed one beautiful Indian teenage girl stealing looks at me, so i tot to myself, "dude, here's a chance ooo...don't dull!." I moved closer to where she was standing, but before I could utter a word to chat her up, an elderly Indian man looked sternly @ me and said something in Indian to her. Those who heard wat d man said also looked in my direction, gosh I felt embarrassed when I realised dat was probably d babe's father. I didn't say a word to soul until I got home dat day!

Even when the Spice girls were at there peak, they got booed off the stage in Paris,

Kanye West, Cheryl Cole, Busta Rhymes, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, 50 Cent, Eminem etc have all been booed off the stage for poor performance. So all these attempt from the Don Jazzy a$$ kissing fan club to make a mockery of a singer is a joke. Even greats like the Late Michael Jackson have been booed off, Mary J Blige in her home town.

The person who said we get the leaders we deserve wasnt far from the truth.

Car TalkRe: Japanese Or German Cars- Which Do You Prefer And Why? by omar22(m):
naira-ner:
Most people seem to be saying that German cars consume a lot of fuel which is either what they have read from unreliable sources or heard from people who may not have ever driven a german car.

I have owned various species of Japanese cars as well as German cars. They will BOTH CONSUME fuel if they have big engine sizes.

Compare fuel consumption of a German 1.8 Litre engine against a japanese 1.8 Litre engine and you will see that they are same.

Compare fuel consumption of a German 2.5 Litre engine against a japanese 2.5 Litre engine and you will see that they are same.

Reason for this misconception is that, most of the german cars in Nigeria have the big engine sizes 2.5 or above while most of the japanese have the smaller engine sizes of 2.0 or lower. The comparison people make unknowingly/ignorantly usually over looks the engine sizes and conclude that german cars consume more fuel.

Simple!!!!!!!!!!!! wink
Compare fuel consumption of a German 1.8 Litre engine against a japanese 1.8 Litre engine and you will see that they are same.
I beg to differ....

Its like saying a BMW 520i consume the same amount of fuel as a Mazda 626 despite both have 1991 CC engine! They might be the same engine size but the miles to the gallon is way different!

addictiv: any car can rust. so long it is exposed to forces of nature....thats why you have a garage.
I dont think so, car bodies are built with fibre-glass, they do not rust!

Siena: ^^^ You're right there, Omar. But how many of us are lucky (or rich enough) to have an F1 car parked on our driveways?

We're talking about road cars, bro. smiley
Just talking about Speed and power (Super sport car) nothing rivals the Italians, on the other hand Le Man have been dominated by Audi powered engines.

So which one will you choose?

McLaren F1 or Ferrari Enzo

or Bugatti or Pagani Zonda

Car TalkRe: Japanese Or German Cars- Which Do You Prefer And Why? by omar22(m): 3:15pm On Oct 23, 2013
Siena: I agree. Ownership of a marque may change, but the heritage remains the same.

Italian cars are the best on planet Earth? I disagree with this.

Mainstream Italian cars, like Fiat, Lancia and Alfa Romeo compete against the mainstream German marques. These Italian cars are high maintenance, and can be described as fragile. The average comparable Japanese car may not match the performance of the Italian rivals, (which are argueably real driver's cars) but are streets ahead in terms of durability. As a daily driver, An Alfa Romeo 156 2.0 TS is highly strung, a Toyota Corolla Sport, BMW 120 M-Sport or Audi A3 1.8T Sport isn't.

The supercar sector has been dominated by the Italians - Lamborghini, Ferrari, Bugatti, Pagani, Maserati for many years. Then the Nissan Skyline R32 / R33 came along, narrowing the gap. Today, the Nissan GTR is a formidable contender, a sport Grand Tourismo, with 4 seats and performance to seriously threaten the Italian masters. Very few Italian supercars are practical as daily drivers, and definitely not for a family. Then there's the Porsche, which is as practical as it gets, especially the Panamera, which has supercar performance in a 5-door, 4 seater body. It will also outlive the Italians.

Down the road from me is Verdi Ferrari, all they cater for is supercars. Google them, and see what they're up to. Italian supercars spend a lot of time undergoing surgery, as they break often. I like them, but as a daily driver (and sole means of transport) not practical. If you're referring to outright pace, then a Caterham 7 will run rings round the average Italian supercar.
Theres a reason why they have dominated F1 245 race wins out 800+ by cars with an Italian engine (Ferrari, Alfa Romeo and Maserati)
