igbsam:shut up your mouth for Christ sake and allow piece to reign for once.... haba!!... if you dont know how to celebrate your victory without inciting your opposition then Nigeria would have been on fire with people like you...do you think it is healthy for the whole of Nigerians to support just a single party.... i wonder how some people even reason sometimes...must everybody support your party... try and be civil and be tolerant inthe political arena |
Please the polity is already heated up. nara-landers please in the name of God you all should be matured and handle your victory in a civil manner and not provoking the opposition party. remember who ever wins is the president of Nigeria and not the president of only a particular party or a region..... please in the name of God... you guys should apply caution in the way you heat up the polity with your comment and abuse on the person of GEJ and his supporters..... remember he created this environment for a healthy competition..... so Nigerians... the polity is heated already so don't over heat it.... thanks |
I am a PDP supporter and if the results from the social media is anything to go by, then I think GMB will likely to win this election. However, i hope all APC supporters will be matured about any outcomes of the election without plunging this nation into crisis....since they have the attitude of wining at all cost and discrediting every result that is not in thier favour ... i still look forward to when APC will honarable concede defeat without the creating trouble just because the result is not in their favour. I give the success of this election to Jega as well as Mr President Jonathan for creating an enabling environment for the conduct of a peaceful election.. even if there were some hitches... I hope APC will create this type of environment should they be in power for other opposition party without exhibiting any intolerance for a healthy competition during election... |
There is no way you can be an APC Member or supporter without becoming aggressive. it is en-scripted in their DNA |
well spoken. Mr president. We are behind you more than those that are against you...... |
T thought they said it was Mimiko that decamped.... so his deputy has joined hin too.. anyway no wahala... |
The United States is preparing for a likely crisis in Nigeria after Saturday’s elections. United States Secretary of State John Kerry has visited Nigeria, preaching peace, ahead of the elections. Vice President Joe Biden has spoken on the need for violence-free elections. And President Barack Obama has urged Nigerians to keep this country united – whatever the outcome of the elections. But the United States seems to have gone a step further by sending hundreds of marines to neighbouring Ghana. An Aviation source in Accra, the Ghanaian capital, told The Nation that two Hercules C-130 transport planes landed at the Kotoka Airport last week, bearing “at least three helicopters”. “There are well over 200 marines,” the source, who pleaded not to be named because of what he described as the sensitivity of the matter, said. “They are camped at the airport,” he added. The helicopters are belived to be meant for the quick evacuation of Americans in Nigeria - in the event of violence. It was not immediately clear yesterday where the marines and equipment may have been moved from. The United States has military bases in Europe. The source also said two United States Navy ships had been sighted off the coast of Takoradi, Ghana. A Ghana Defence source said one of the ships is equipped with medical facilities. “More marines are expected,” he said, also pleading not to be named because, according to him, he is not allowed to talk to the media. “It is not unusual for the United States or any other country to do this because they have to protect their people,” the source said. Ghanaians have noticed the presence of the marines. The popular thinking is that they are in the country to train the military. “Their mission is to move into Nigeria swiftly, should there be any need to do so,” the source said. President Goodluck Jonathan, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), his main challenger, All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, have signed a peace accord in Abuja, pledging to maintain peace before, during and after the elections. The United States is said to have had an intelligence report that the election could turn bloody, if the result does not favour the ruling party. Leaders of the PDP and the APC are belived to be willing to accept the result, but “there are fears that should the polls be rigged, the citizenry may reject the results,” a source said. http://thenationonlineng.net/new/u-s-set-for-likely-post-election-crisis-in-nigeria/

Demands compliance with court decisions Gboyega Akinsanmi. The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday said it would sue the federal government for contempt of court if it failed to abide by the recent judgments that restrained it from deploying troops for elections. The party asked President Goodluck Jonathan and the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to abide by the decisions of two different Federal High Courts sitting in Ikoyi Lagos and Sokoto recently. The party’s National Vice-Chairman (South-west), Chief Pius Akinyelure, who disclosed this in a statement yesterday, said the decisions of the two courts were predicated on the judgment of a Court of Appeal sitting in Ilorin in a suit between APC and Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose. Akinyelure added that attempts by the Jonathan administration would amount “to subversion of the rule of law and Nigeria’s fledgling democratic order,” which he said the APC “has pledged to rescue.” He argued that sections 215 and 217 of the 1999 Constitution “limit the power of the President only to deploy soldiers for the suppression of insurrection and to aid the police to restore order when it has broken down. “The 1999 constitution does not make provision for the military to be involved in civil activities. If soldiers must vote, it must be in their barracks. On this note, armed forces have no role in elections. “The courts of competent jurisdiction have already established this position. This was evident in the decision of Justice Mohammed Rilwan of the Federal High Court sitting Sokoto. It was also clear in the judgment of Justice Ibrahim Buba of the Federal High Court sitting Lagos. “These judicial precedents must be respected by all in the Jonathan administration. If the Jonathan administration breaches the court decision, we shall not hesitate to sue the PDP-led government for contempt of court,” which he said, was capable of subverting the country’s democratic rule. Akinyelure, therefore, urged the president and his party to desist from pursuing contemptible aand unworthy course, which he said, could undermine the gains of democratic struggle in Nigeria. Brush your teeth at least two times daily preferably after meals. Floss your teeth at least once a day and use a gentle sawing motion. Use fluoridated toothpaste to help harden enamel and reduce risk of tooth decay. Limit the intake of acidic beverages like soft drinks and fruit juices since these can soften tooth material and lead to cavities or caries. Protect your teeth by using a mouth guard or helmet when playing contact sports. See your dentist regularly especially when you feel that something is wrong with your teeth. Do not use your teeth to crack nuts, remove the top of bottles or anything other than chewing food in order to prevent chipping or breaking them. www.dentaldeals.com.ng

A former military ruler of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, has called for the introduction of ‘total’ Islamic law across the country, reports said on Monday. He made this call at a conference organized by the Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs in Kaduna.Buhari, who ruled Nigeria from a coup in December 1983 to his ouster in 1985, told a seminar in Kaduna, northern Nigeria, at the weekend that the strict Islamic law code known as the Sharia should be introduced in full across Nigeria. “I will continue to show openly and inside me the total commitment to the Sharia movement that is sweeping all over Nigeria,” Buhari said, quoted in press reports. “God willing, we will not stop the agitation for the total implementation of the Sharia in the country,” Buhari said. Northern Nigeria is mainly Muslim but southern Nigeria is mainly Christian and has led criticism of the introduction of Islamic law in a dozen northern states in the past 18 months. Africa’s most populous country has been shaken repeatedly in the past by religious unrest. In February 2000 between 2 000 and 3 000 people were killed by Christian-Muslim riots in Kaduna over the introduction of Sharia. Call for Sharia across the country Buhari’s comments were interpreted by the southern-based papers as a call for the imposition of Sharia all across the country, even in the mainly Christian south. “Buhari calls for Sharia in all states,” was the headline of the respected newspaper The Guardian. Buhari’s comments were defended by supporters as simply a call for the full implementation of Sharia in areas where Muslims predominated. But the comments are the second by Buhari that have courted controversy after he called earlier this year for Muslims to vote at the next presidential elections only for someone who would defend their faith. This was criticised by the press as a call for voting along religious lines, as well as an attack on the current president, Olusegun Obasanjo, who is a Christian. Buhari made the latest comments at a seminar organised by the Supreme Council for Sharia in Nigeria, a newly set up body attended by northern state governments and Islamic scholars. “It is a legal responsibility which God has given us, within the context of one Nigeria, to continue to uphold the practice of Sharia wholeheartedly , and to educate non-Muslims that they have nothing to fear,” he said. “What remains for Muslims in Nigeria is for them to redouble their efforts, educate Muslims on the need to promote the full implementation of Sharia law,” he went on. – AFP First published in 2001 Sent from my T-Mobile 4G LTE Device http://pointblanknews.com/pbn/exclusive/buhari-calls-total-sharia-nigeria/

MzJackBaueress:You rather believe what another country's president says over your own. May God help you unpatriotic Nigerians. This the reason why Nigerians are disrespected outside their shores; because the way you your atitude of subjecting your own country and the office of the president to ridicule. why will another country respect you when you have nothing good to say about your country and president. i am ashamed of you as a Nigerian. why don't you tear your pass sport and become a citizen in Niger, we dont need citizens like you around in Nigeria. Goodness!! |
size38:journalist are suppose to maintain neutrality in the political arena. That is what is expected of then as the forth estate of the realm. What we are seeing in Nigeria is not good journalism. Sometimes presenters are rude to their callers without realizing that without viewaship from this callers, they won't even keep their job. A lot of arrogance in display especially on Nigeria info. Gbenga and Zoe need to be trained properly in the area of communicating with their callers on air. Imaging Zoe refering to her call callers as Darline". |
warrior01:I thought I was the only one observing that.Nigerian info is very partisan in favour of APC. Presenters such as Seen, and Gbenga are very bias. They very uncomfortable when APC is been critisized.sometimes they end up interrupting the caller midway and cut him off from there but when Gej or PDP is criticized they it becomes a free for all . chucks and Tolu are the only presenters that objective.the rest are not professiona at all.The like of comrade Akpan Silas, Adam, Jonathan, Adewole and co.I tire for dem. |
To me this people and their government are enemy of Nigeria. KANO, Nigeria (CNN)—A military plane on Tuesday dropped a bomb on mourners in a Niger village on the border with Nigeria, killing 37 people and wounding 20 others, residents and a regional security source in Niger told CNN. "A military jet on an operational mission against Boko Haram targets accidentally attacked a funeral gathering in Abadam Faransa, killing several people," the security source said Wednesday on condition of anonymity. Resident Abatcha Kaloma, who assisted with the burials of the dead, said 37 people were killed and 20 were wounded, figures backed up by a community leader who didn't want to be named. It was unclear which nation's military carried out the bombing, but residents blamed Nigeria, a charge it denied. Air Commodore Dele Alonge, a spokesman for the Nigerian Air Force, said the military didn't conduct air raids in that area Tuesday. Cameroon, Chad, Niger and Nigeria have in recent weeks stepped up a coordinated offensive against Boko Haram, which is based in Nigeria. Chad and Nigeria have used fighter jets as part of a regional alliance to defeat the Islamist group that has recently escalated its deadly attacks on Nigeria and its neighbors. The incident took place around 6:30 p.m. outside the home of a local official who died hours earlier. Boko Haram, whose name translates as "Western education is sin," has been waging a yearslong campaign of terror aimed at instituting its extreme version of Sharia law. Its tactics have intensified in recent years, from battling government soldiers to acts disproportionately affecting civilians -- such as raids on villages, mass kidnappings, assassinations, market bombings and attacks on churches and unaffiliated mosques. Much of this violence has taken place in Nigeria. But neighboring countries, such as Cameroon and Chad, have also been hit increasingly hard. Niger became more of a target after its decision to join the regional alliance fighting the Islamist group. CNN's Steve Almasy contributed |
