These people(africans, carribbeans etc) benefit from our success and ridicule us for our failures. If you think africans care about blacks americans than your a fool. The sooner black americans stop that back to africa bullsh.t the better we will be.

Mine was a cat.The cat was brought to us at two weks old.Its name was dusty and behave just like a child. would always cuddle itself around me whenever i m bored or lonely. We play alot; infact i became use to dusty that when ever i m eating, dusty is equally eating.
One sunday morning, we came back from church but discovered that dusty was no where to be found as its the first to always be at the door when ever we return from our outing. We seach everywhere, only to discover that dusty had fallen in a drum of water, usually preserve for the raining days.I was very sad for some times. Pet are like humans and they have the same impact of lost just the way u wld feel for a human being.

SA Lady: Stage 2

This is when guy's uncles return to girs family to make full payment. I am told that a lot about these negotiations depends on the girl as she has the advantage of knowing her man's size of the pocket. So she can pull her uncles aside and ask them not to charge too much. So she can influence the pricing from that angle. A lot of girls dont use this opportunity and I dont know why, as everybody is aware that a lot of things can go horribly wrong during the pricing and the negotiations. A lot of people end up with no marriage or enter a marriage with lots of resentments because of the rediculous pricing.

On the day of the full payment this then becomes a full traditional celebration, there'll be a slaughter, its usually sheep/goat/cow depending on the tribal norm and these days its about what you can afford. There'll be an exchange of gifts the whole ceremony is called MATLHABISO, I know you wont get the pronounciation correct so please get a tsawna speaking person to read and pronounce the words for you.

This is pretty much wedding number one, its usually meant to be intimate with very few guests invited being the girl and guy's close
family members mainly. Today friends do get invited and it becames one hell of a traditional wedding, and everybody comes in thier traditional attire.

In this ceremony the couple is counselled by the elders its called GO LAYA Girl is told about her new man's right (which he's always had access to by the way LOL) and guy the same.  The saddest part about this go laya story is that, girl is told (this is for when they live together) never ever to question her man's where abouts, when is he coming home and if he has a certian someone she must just shut up as long as he pays for the home upkeep and that's it. With guy the strong message is that he should never raise a hand at his wife and would rather return the girl home if he no longer wants her.

At the end of the day all of guys uncles and their wives will get gifts in the form of clothes, blankets and a half potion of the goat/sheep/cow. Guys family will exchange the same or even more gifts with girls unties and uncles. The half potion of the sheep/goat/cow is called SETLHANA. Oh! I should have mentioned that parents to the pair are not allowed to speak to each other even indirectly. They will be introduced to each other on this particular day of celebration. However its not always practical especially when you have a traditional ceremony to put together and sometimes the reps are not always available as this is a lengthy process, some parents may already have met each other before.

Guys eldest uncle or may be his father's first male cousin will get the priviledge of getting the head of that slaughtered sheep/goat and its for his family alone this head is called THLOGO and uncle in this role is called MALOME MOJA THLOGO.

I also didnt mention that both families should visit their ancestors graves before and after the ceremony to inform them about the happenings. It would be very very careless if you dont do this part, as the whole idea about the ceremony is believed to get the ancestors to know each other and to protect the couple during their marriage. So its essentialy an ancestral ceremony and rituals will be performed.

Please dont ask me what actually happens when the rituals are performed I am clueless.
Very interesting, your wedding custom is similar to some practice here in Nigeria, Though diiferent in some aspect.

voltron: Thanks. there are many people on nairaland who cannot look at a problem as a whole, they would rather pick a small and obvious area and start to argue aggressively about it. what about Working Conditions, Medical, Training Equipment & Facilities, Drugs that WHO and other AID agencies donate freely (and subsidized) to the Lagos State Government. We all complain about general Hospitals when we go there and would prefer Private Clinics instead. have you asked why. Salaries is just a small component of the problem. Fashola is Working!? Yes no doubt but is it Hardwork or Smartwork? huh A Strike is one tool to seek redressing of a situation that has long gone sour, what is meant to happen is a review and compromise - if that fails, then you can wield the Sledge-hammer. Like asking Nigerians to pay more for Electricity and you have not fixed PHCN or asking Nigerians to pay more for Petrol and you have not fixed your refineries
Now, have Doctors ever gone on strike a a result of the decaying medical infrastruture in the hospitals? No, they have never done that, if they had included the poor state of the infrastruture in the hospitals among thier list, then we can say they are also thinking about the live of thier pateints who die daily as a result of the poor medical facilities to carry out proper medical treatment. So, the doctors are only fighting for thier pocket only, as for the decadence in the medical world is never thier problem

Teedol: My brother, half bread is better than non. At least 378 Docs will do their best.
It is acceptable for lectures and other civil servants to go on strike,
but health officials, NAH.
The Docs union got it all wrong, they could have left at least 20-30% of their work force
on duty, that way they would have earned the entire populace sympathy.

The UK police protested yesterday, yet they made sure at least officers on duty never left their post.
20% were on duty.
The lagos Docs are just trying to tell us they never cared for their patients life.
Thank you for presenting it in a rational way. no mather what, the doctors should realize that Live cannot be brought back but thier renumeration and other benefit they are fighting for would be answered some day. But live lost can never be recovered.

tensor777: It is all up to the individual parents themselves. In other words if you are a violent sociopathic control-freak kind of guy then you better raise your child in Nigeria. Otherwise you would get done by the social services.
Somehow though I get the impression that a lot of this talk about raising kids is not so much about inculcating the right moral values but more about trying to bend the child to the parent's will whatever that is.
Maybe that is why the word train was used. You educate and instruct a child and not merely train as you would your pet cat or dog!
MPRAISE, if there were perfect men, I would agree with everything you've said. But Omega is right. you attract what you want. you keep getting that kinda woman because you expose yourself to that. you become what you spend you time on. Spend it productively and you will atrractive productive people. The types of women who seem to flood you guys lives seem to be a reflection of what you spend you most precious commodity (time) in.

For every useless woman there are 10 useless men, otherwise she would not exist or thrive. The leadership that men are supposed to provide is sorely lacking, This is because men only want selective leadership, only when it's convenient for you do you to take up the role. And by the way, giving instructions is not leadership, that is management, leaders lead by example, are happy to take responsibility and are not too proud to be humble. You need to know how to serve to lead.

I know some of you guys will feel tempted to respond with negative comments but before you do consider this, "Does you comment reflect the manager or the leader in you?". Rome was not built in a day, let men take their rightful place and who knows, 2 ,3 or 4 generations from now, your descendents may look at woman differently.

Let's stop perpetuating negativity about the person that bore you. As much as you may be all up in there, being self righteous, no man ever gave birth to a man. Ask yourself, would i be happy if another man spoke about my mother or sister the way i talk about the mother of the next generation and the most likely answer is that, that is exactly what happned or is happening. Like it or not, these women are the vessels of your lineage. They don't have to change for you to treat them well, you treat them well so that they will change. Permanently! That is the kind of leadership Africa needs to move out of the darkness.
THAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANK YOU MY SISTER.Most men have condermed themselve to perpertual unhappiness in thier relationship because of thier negative mindset.postive and happy minded men would always atract like minds while sad and negative minded men wld always atract women of like mind

Dressmaker: [b]Anytime,Any day a broken relationship is better than a broken marriage. When love is strongly involved in a relationship, most times the individuals involved are irrational. No reason is good enough for a breakup. If we can just add some common sense knowing that marriage is for life any reason why a relationship cant work is good enough.

Certain things like tolerance, understanding etc are important.I can tolerate someone with BO as a room mate because its for a while.I can tolerate a colleague that is temperamental-time spent together is limited.I can have an 'unbeliever' as a friend-pray he/she changes some day.BUT, its different when its meant to be deeper, longer, a breakup could be a life saver.

Romance › Re: Breaking Up For A Good Reason by omoharry(f): 11:46am On Apr 20, 2012
I do have a standard, and these standards have to be met before I enter into a relationship at all. It's nothing new either that when you go into a relationship, you tend to find more things out about your partner that you didn't know upfront and you're at crossroads whether or not to keep up with these attitudes.

Before any decision has to be made, you have to study the changes (the new found attitudes) and decide if it's going to affect your perception of the relationship, and also, if you can deal with it with some little bit of patience and time; sometimes, some traits can't be worked on, some can be, but it all depends on who has the traits and how well and fair they are willing to work on them.

Furthermore, you need to check yourself and be sure you're not the one spurring these attitudes, so as not to be guilty of what you're trying to put on someone else, but I agree, everyone needs a standard and I have a high standard my lady has to meet. . . I'm almost a perfectionist, that is if I'm not.

Then you must be a virgo; bone in the omnth of september.ahahaha

You see them posing with with their jeans and spaggettis forming for men left right and centre but their greatest undoing is whne they strip naked. I always play the fool with them till its time to bang the sh***t outta them and lo! and Behold! When you see their flabby breasts with stretch marks as long as the thrid mainland bridge, you will just start laughing, you see their conconted and twisted nipples facing planet mars and the color of the aureolais in beween green and red.

You see their chests and find wisps of chest hairs and you wonder what's up with all that cleavage talk and wonder bra they are trying to hide. Take a look at their stomachs and its operation laugh and die. Its as if your looking at a very fat father christams without his santa suit and the flabby stretch mark ridden belly is so obtusely disgusting that you wonder what they have been hiding all along forming for nonsense.

Then the protuding yansh is the cream of the crop. Its even more disgusting when you see them wearing G-Strings trying to feell sexy but the stretch marks out number the strands of pubic hair on their p***ssy. You dont know whether the yansh is black or yellow since bleaching cream has distorted that protuding mass of garbage they call their ass smelling of yesterday's shit.

I used to wonder why they accumulate all these stretch marks that they would desperately want to hide from Men, but i realise in the folly of their own insecurity to attract men, they need to pose and pretend that they are hot chicks underneath all that garb of stretches and they know once a man has seen them naked, they are done for and their posing goes into the wind.

I dont know which one is worse, whether marrying a girl with tribal marks or one that has countless of stretch marks that could shame the person who coined the name?

Irritating lot!

Guys better go out with a stretch mark free chick and enjoy it while it lasts and move on when you begin to notice those moulds of fats and lines creeping up their asses!

Travel › Deportation Of Nigerians In UK by omoharry(op): 11:11am On Mar 27, 2012
Recently, media reports were awash with the story of the deportation of about 120 Nigerians by the United Kingdom (UK). The affected Nigerians were said to have been deported by the British immigration authorities on March 19 for non-possession of valid travel documents and work permits, among other required documents.

Most of the forced returnees who were young men and women narrated their harrowing experiences in the UK before they were hurriedly flown home. According to them, they were picked up either at work or on the streets and dragged to the airport to board a cargo flight to Lagos without being allowed to take any of their vital belongings.

But contrary to the initial reports, the UK authorities have clarified that 53 and not 120 Nigerians were deported and that the deportation followed due process. The affected Nigerians were made to face some migration-related panels and went through legal appeals, before their eventual deportation.

This position has also been corroborated by the Nigerian High Commission in London which said that the processes, up to deportation level, were monitored by its senior officials. It also said that those Nigerians were removed from the UK due to the fact that they overstayed their visas or have completed their prison terms.

Furthermore, the deportation of Nigerians from the UK is covered by a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Migration Returns signed by both countries a few years back.

Whatever may be the case, the deportation is a warning to those Nigerians that travel out without the required entry documents and work permits. The deportation will serve as a clarion call to the Nigerian authorities to develop the country industrially and halt the increasing exodus of her youths to other climes in search of greener pastures. Nigeria is richly endowed with enough human and material resources to develop all the sectors of the economy and create jobs for its army of unemployed youths.

It is a pity that in spite of the huge resources at our disposal, our leaders have failed woefully to make the country a happy one for its citizens. In fact, the government has a responsibility to open up the productive base of the economy in order to stem the rising tide of youth joblessness which encourages unnecessary migration and brain drain.

If this is done, the craze to travel abroad among Nigerians will be drastically reduced. It is most unfortunate that these youths leave Nigeria without knowing the unpredictable future that awaits them elsewhere.
In fact, experience has shown that some Nigerians outside would have fared better in Nigeria if they had remained in the country. The fact is that there is no country on earth whose streets are paved with gold. In other words, there is no place where people pick money on the streets.

We enjoin Nigerians, especially the youths, to stop the mad rush to travel outside to do menial jobs that ordinarily they would not do at home. The country has enough resources to make it an industrial giant. All that is needed is pragmatic leadership vision that will propel such economic transformation. This is the time to turn the energy of our youths into high productivity. Let those in charge of the economy put their thinking caps and put the Nigerian house in order.
The government should sit up and make the country attractive so that our youths will not have the excuse to be leaving Nigeria en masse. Nigeria is our only country; we should all work to make it better. Leaving our shores in droves to other developed lands will not solve the proble
