I've this overwhelming feeling of sympathy for them. If only our past and present leaders had consciences and returned the over 500 billion of Dollars stolen from our coffers, invested them in this country and provided employment for these men, these men would have still been alive.

If not for our corrupt leaders, tell me what a Nigerian should be doing in Somali all in the name of green pastures. Our leaders have ruined us. We've refineries, they don't work. We've crude oil, yet we can't refine them. No freely available water. No good roads. No quality education and health care. These simple things of life we ought to have as a must, we lack them. I weep for this country. I wonder if Karma really exist. Because while the poor masses suffer, the rich get richer and live longer. This country irritates me.

Leave Islam out of this. This is not a religious law. Drug trafficking is frowned upon by almost all the countries on this earth. Some kill, some choose not to kill the offenders. Laws are laws. If you break the law, you pay for it. Simple. The drug peddlers knew the penalty for drug trafficking and still indulged in it. Here is a more plausible version supported by some historical accts; Lagos was initially called Eko. Eko was founded by Benin warriors as their war-camp. The Awori were the first yoruba to come...some say they were brought in as conquered slaves. The decline of the Benin Empire saw Eko made a colonial settlement by the Portuguese who gave it the name 'Lagos'. With the exit of the Portuguese, the yorubas mostly aworis who have grown in number and clout (as the influence of the Benin empire dimnished) took over...even assuming the titular head of the settlement....Oba of Lagos...a legacy of the Benin founders.

So its safe to say the Binis are the original landlords of Lagos. The yorubas only took over after being empowered by the portuguese.

You think being single is a problem that needs to be "solved"? Problem for whom? If you don't mind my asking?

You realise the real problem starts if she rushes into marriage out of blind desperation, all in the vain bid to satisfy societal values and perception of her, whatever those may be? And when that happens, would you/society be there in that marriage with her? Or will she be dished out the usual "grin and bear" Nollywood advice?

And you wonder why there are so many failing marriages? It doesn't take a genius to figure out that the root cause of this is because the foundation was faulty.

Marrying out of desperation can never be a good thing, nor will it ever yield positive results. A desperate woman such as this one would overlook so many red flags, so many flaws and warning signs in a potential spouse she would normally not have even considered, but now will, simply out of desperation.

Stop pressurizing people to get married. Stop the trend of ostracizing and being unnecessarily judgemental of singletons. Marriage isn't for everyone. The world won't come crashing if a person chooses to remain single.
