sinizia: I've this overwhelming feeling of sympathy for them. If only our past and present leaders had consciences and returned the over 500 billion of Dollars stolen from our coffers, invested them in this country and provided employment for these men, these men would have still been alive.
But now they will die no thanks to Abacha, Babangida, OBJ, Atiku, Tinubu, GEJ, Diezani, FFK, T.A Orji and other worthless leaders that have turned looting to their favorite pastime.
This country is heading to the gallows. If our leaders didn't embezzle all our money, imagine how easy life would have been for us. What led us to this stage? S.Ans kill us. In U.K, we're killed. In U.S.A, Nigerians are killed. Even in C.A.R, Nigerians are killed. All over the world, we suffer public disgrace. If not for our corrupt leaders, tell me what a Nigerian should be doing in Somali all in the name of green pastures. Our leaders have ruined us. We've refineries, they don't work. We've crude oil, yet we can't refine them. No freely available water. No good roads. No quality education and health care. These simple things of life we ought to have as a must, we lack them. I weep for this country. I wonder if Karma really exist. Because while the poor masses suffer, the rich get richer and live longer. This country irritates me. karma is a bitch. |

sinizia: Leave Islam out of this. This is not a religious law. Drug trafficking is frowned upon by almost all the countries on this earth. Some kill, some choose not to kill the offenders. Laws are laws. If you break the law, you pay for it. Simple. The drug peddlers knew the penalty for drug trafficking and still indulged in it. It's like knowing a lion is in a cage and you enter there with no weapons and expect to come out alive? Are sick upstairs?
If only this kind of death penalty existed for our corrupt leaders whose looting sprees led these men to engage in nefarious activities, Nigeria would've been ridden of evil and heartless leaders.
I think China have capital punishment (death penalty) for corrupt leaders that embezzle the funds of the country, are they an Islamic country too? These laws are meant to fight evil. If we had such laws in Nigeria, that bastard T.A Orji would've been killed by now. Laws are laws. SirShymexx: Loool.
Yoruba folks on these sides always disrespect the supreme Ijebu crown on Awujale's head. I dunno why but it is cos most of them don't know anything about Yoruba history. Imagine folks grouping Awujale with all these modern kings who got their crowns from Ooni in the 19th century - bwaahahahaha. Conquered territories. What insolence!
Anyway, I rate both Alaafin and Ooni, and those are the only two Yoruba king I'd put over Awujale. Oyo: due to its size and the greatness it achieved. And Ife as the home of all.
You lot need to sheathe ya swords - one love and one big Yoruba. One nation! THE AWUJALE IS NOT IN ANY WAY AHEAD OF AWUJALE.LAI LAI.IJEBU LAND WAS A KINGDOM AND WE ARRIVED BEFORE THE MAIN YORUBA TRIBE CAME.IJEBUS ARE NOT EVEN YORUBAS.WHAT WE HAD THEN WERE OYO,EGBA,IJESHA,ONDO,ETC ETC.OSOGBO WAS EVEN AN IJESA TOWN B4 THE OYO ELEMENT TOOK OVER THE LAND DUE TO ILORIN UPSURGE. |

No beef here - just posting facts and kicking knowledge so other folks can learn from my scholarship about Yoruba history. Don't get emotional.

Only exception is if they were added to Eko to makeup Lagos state. the word eko is a benin word but they didnt own the land.trully they came but few of them settled in with the awori who already occupy the island and few settlement on the mainland lagos.after some time, the benin left and the remining fizzled out due to intermarriges with the awori yorubas.names like obanikoro, eletu odibo, bajulaiye are of benin origin.lagos before state creation is 100% yoruba land.lagos state is 100% yoruba and egun land.thats all. |

Politics › Re: WHO OWNS LAGOS? by omoiseselagba: 9:40am On Apr 09, 2015 |
ElekeNtioba: nice write-up bt here is the problem i have with your claims. You said "...Lagos was initially called 'Eko' which referred mainly to the island" and the "first set of people to settle in 'Eko' were the Aworis". Then you turned and said "...Island become a Benin war-camp called “EKO” under Oba Orhogba, the Oba of Benin at that time." Pls clarify....who gave Lagos its first name
Here is a more plausible version supported by some historical accts; Lagos was initially called Eko. Eko was founded by Benin warriors as their war-camp. The Awori were the first yoruba to come...some say they were brought in as conquered slaves. The decline of the Benin Empire saw Eko made a colonial settlement by the Portuguese who gave it the name 'Lagos'. With the exit of the Portuguese, the yorubas mostly aworis who have grown in number and clout (as the influence of the Benin empire dimnished) took over...even assuming the titular head of the settlement....Oba of Lagos...a legacy of the Benin founders.
So its safe to say the Binis are the original landlords of Lagos. The yorubas only took over after being empowered by the portuguese. IT DEPENDS ON WHAT WE UNDERSTAND AS LAGOS AND LAGOS AS A STATE.LAGOS COMPRISE OF LAGOS ISLAND AND SMALL PART OF THE LAGOS MAINLAND SUCH AS IDO,EBUTTE METTA,SURULERE.LAGOS AS A STATE HAS THE IJEBUS FROM IKORODU,EPE,IBEJU,ETI OSA DOWN TO LEKKI AND UP TO THE BOUNDARY WITH THE MAIN IJEBU PEOPLE IN IJEBU ODE.BADAGRY TOO IS PART OF LAGOS AS A STATE.THE OWNERS OF LAGOS BEFORE STATE CREATION ARE THE AWORIS AND A POCKET OF EGUN PEOPLE FROM BADAGRY.THE OWNERS OF LAGOS AS A STATE ARE THE IJEBUS,EGUN AND AWORI.SO THERE FORE,LAGOS STATE IS 100% YORUBA(AWORI AND IJEBU) AND EGUN LAND. |

EfemenaXY: No, I'm not joking. I know where the joke section is if I need it.
Unlike you, I don't attest to marriage bring a do-or-die affair. You need to understand that it's never about how soon one gets married but how well the couple stay married.
What problem?
You think being single is a problem that needs to be "solved"? Problem for whom? If you don't mind my asking?
You realise the real problem starts if she rushes into marriage out of blind desperation, all in the vain bid to satisfy societal values and perception of her, whatever those may be? And when that happens, would you/society be there in that marriage with her? Or will she be dished out the usual "grin and bear" Nollywood advice?
Really.
And you wonder why there are so many failing marriages? It doesn't take a genius to figure out that the root cause of this is because the foundation was faulty.
Marrying out of desperation can never be a good thing, nor will it ever yield positive results. A desperate woman such as this one would overlook so many red flags, so many flaws and warning signs in a potential spouse she would normally not have even considered, but now will, simply out of desperation.
Stop pressurizing people to get married. Stop the trend of ostracizing and being unnecessarily judgemental of singletons. Marriage isn't for everyone. The world won't come crashing if a person chooses to remain single. you deserve a bottle of ace root. |
