@Missy, thank you for your post. I don't know Seun in person . You may probably be one of those who know him inside out. I don't bloody care. I don't believe in theory but practical. When Dr Tai Solarin was alive, he said he didn't believe that God existed. Yet thousands of Christians and Muslims got educated in the school he founded. Many of them have become important in our society today. Dr Solarin was more useful to Christians than many of our religious leaders. It is not what you claimed to be that matters but the product of what you claimed to be. If you agreed that Seun used the Forum to develop individuals, then develope individuals educationally and you have developed the nation educationally! Ditto economy, religion et al. SEUN HAS THE RIGHT TO BAN ANY THREAD ON RELIGION. It may be true that Seun had in mind to make money when he started the Forum. What is at the back of the mind of a Kidnapper and Armed Robber? |
@brownteeth, I am happy you have even helped me add the political contribution. I thought many others who might want to contribute would include Nairaland's many other contributions to Religion, culture, sports, information, foreign affairs, technology, name it! Go to the relevant sections mentioned above, including those mentioned by you. Read, learn, be informed and take beneficial and profitable actions where necessary. Are you aware that thousands of people are making genuine money through Nairaland? Do you know that through Nairaland you can be well informed to decide who you will vote for, come 2011? In fact the list of Nairaland's contributions can make brown teeth white! From OMOKEMESI |
50 HEARTY GBOSAS !!! From Omokemesi TO SEUN OSAWE The Boss of Nairaland Forum, Nairalist etc and ALL MODERATORS On Nigeria's 50th Independence Anniversary. Seun, I appreciate your foresight and thank God for giving you the Wisdom to introduce NAIRALAND FORUM which has made an unparalleled contributions to the economic, social and educational development of Nigeria. I wish you long life, sound health and God's overall protection as you continue your service to God, the Nation and humanity. In my humble opinion, you should be one of those to be given National Merit Awards for your unique service to this country through your Forum. I hope your immense contributions will be appreciated by somebody in power one day. CONGRATULATIONS! -omokemesi |
@adroipt, you are welcome. I hereby stand, raise my right hand and pledge to Nigeria, my country, to be faithful, loyal and honest. Can recitation of pledges and National Anthem do the "hat trick"? OMOKEMESI |
I learnt the Federal Government has invited officials of NECO over the poor results of the last NECO Exams. What for? Who should be invited? Officials of NECO or officials of Federal and State Ministries of Education? |
I couldn't believe my ears this morning when I heard a radio report that armed robbers allegedly shot a man because he refused an order to have affairs with his mother. What is this country turning to? What did the robbers want to gain from this ugly incident? Can we blame this man for not performing this ungodly and disgraceful act on gun point? |
Fifty years ago, there was no armed robbery in Nigeria. No cases of kidnapping. Corruption was a stranger while unemployment was a foreigner. Our currency was at par to the British Pound and doubled the United States Dollar. What immediately comes to my mind as one of the greatest post-independence achievements of Nigeria is the introduction of the GSM telephones. But if I may ask, is pre-independence era in Nigeria better than post-independence era? -OMOKEMESI |
@googles, are you sure you are fit to throw stones? Are you sure you will still emerge as one of those to throw stones after you are thoroughly probed? TAKE NOTE THAT YOU CAN'T STONE IBB even if you are qualified because no known court in Nigeria has found him guilty of any Wrong-doing. Moreover, I don't want any contributor to mention names please. Thank you. OMOKEMESI |
Let us assume that the Federal Government enacts a law which stipulates that any Nigerian found guilty of Corruption should be publicly stoned to death, who should throw the first stone? Will there be enough honest Nigerians to cast the stones? -OMOKEMESI |
Where can one get a faithful friend ? |
The introduction of GSM to Nigeria some years ago has brought an unimaginable uplift to the economic/social development of the country. It has tremendously reduced unemployment in the country. There is hardly any home, especially in urban areas of Nigeria, where one would not get at least a person owning the GSM. However, I have seen some people who vowed never to possess Mobile Phone because of what they called "economic, health and social hazards". They prefer to visit the Call Centres to make calls when absolutely necessary. They claimed that many hitherto happy homes had been broken through the use of GSM and foundation of love of couples demolished. Cases of infidelity among school children have risen steeply. Inspite of all vices resulting from the use of GSM, It appears the GSM has become indispensable to millions of Nigerians. How can we reduce or combat the vices and hazards since the GSM has become inevitable "evil". From OMOKEMESI |
Fellow Nigerians, if I am the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, what steps would you want me to take after 50th Independence Anniversary, which will make you very proud to be a Nigerian? Please, advise me! -OMOKEMESI |
I am enjoying and learning from your contributions, patriotic Nigerians. I believe other viewers are learning too. But is it not possible for a damsel to outrightly disregard the wish of her parents not to risk inter-tribal marriage? Any repercussion? Please, carry on, fellow Nigerians! |
@ shimfe google "Comandclem latest: Prof Uwemedimo speaks on royalties to patentees." you can also go via your email. I believe Nairaland used to email you when you were contributing to the topic. You just click the link. CHEERS! |
@ Stevetboy, why were you so hard on prof.ayola? WHY THE OUTBURST? Have you met on another thread before? Like Xreal has said, this is supposed to be a very lively thread. And it appears you have dampened the morale and interest of those expected to share their experiences. I thought those who would contribute to this thread would have passed through any of our higher institutions or currently passing through the system and who should be matured enough to contribute meaningfully. What Prof.ayo posted on this thread did not merit your un-polished post. After all it is one of the rules governing this Forum not to use abusive words. Nairalanders are supposed to be friends and not foes. I beg let us share your experience or that of your friend etc. |
Federal Workers: You Don Win O, You Don Win! You Don Win O, You Don Win! CONGRATULATIONS! Goodies to flow from month end. Hip Hip |
One of the advantages of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) when it was introduced in Nigeria was that it encouraged Intertribal Marriages. Up till now it is still the "in- thing". One of the advantages of intertribal marriage is that it fosters unity. BUT there are two sides to a coin. What are the advantages and hiccups inherent in intertribal marriages? WHO can share his or her experience? |
PLEASE,SHELVE STRIKE! I heard over the radio of an alleged threat of Federal workers to embark on strike from Independence Day, if the Federal Government fails to implement the Minimum Wage before then. I want to believe that this must be a rumour. How can they expect the Minimum Wage to be implemented within the next few days? Please I want to watch how Nigeria will celebrate the golden Independence Anniversary. Please, DON'T DISRUPT IT! Federal Goverment should be definite on the day the goodies will start to flow - Octopus Gabriel or no Octopus Gabriel |
