I don't agree with this ooo. I think a lot of Nigerians abroad are forever helping those back home. Do we really only just look down on our fellow men

According to the World Bank data, in 2018, the Nigerian Diaspora remittance was $24.31bn; in 2019, it was $23.81bn; and in 2020, it was $17.21bn.

It is just wise not to derail this thread (pun intended tongue ) it shld rather be asked on the student thread.

However, I think your best bet will be to focus on the data analytics as you can easily get a tech company that will offer you sponsorship with that than with international business. Also, you might want to enrol for a bootcamp course in data analysis to give you edge in the “favour” market
sholadele4:
Thank you for the valuable insights shared on this platform. Please, what advice do you have for someone like me who is already in the process of coming to study MSc in International Business with Data Analytics? I have 7 years of work experience in HR in Nigeria prior to now. I am also working on horning my data analytics skills through self-study. Are there any prospects? or things I can do to boost my chances?

Do you want the bitter truth or sugar coated lies. It doesn’t have prospect in the uk especially for someone that needs sponsorship, on the other hand, no knowledge is waste and they might be lucky

Let me play devil’s advocate here

The only way to track you earnings is via NI, your income from gigs don’t reflect on ur NI, ur moniker on upwork and Fiverr will most likely not be your official name and even if it does, there are a million John Pauls out there.

Do with that information what you may

avalon7:
HELP! I just read on the uk immigration site that Freelancing is not allowed for people with a student visa (tier 4). Please does anyone know if they enforce this and how? I have fairly successful gigs on Upwork and fiverr and I'm curious as to if this would count as self-employment/freelancing and what will happen if I'm discovered to be earning money on these platforms while studying? THANKS FOR YOUR RESPONSES

Yes it’s possible to adopt a child to bring them to the UK but to adopt someone of that age (15yrs) in your case they will check ur financial status, ur settlement status and standard of living. Do you earn enough to cater for her, do you have extra room for her in ur house, will you be readily available to look after her and not neglect her. These are questions you might want to answer. You will need to proof beyond reasonable doubt it’s not child trafficking.
Zimzee:
Is it possible to adopt a child and bring her to UK?
I have a child that is 15yrs, she started staying with me when she was 3 yrs, she lived with me for 12yrs, everyone that knew me thought she is my daughter. I came to UK last year with my family on a student visa. I couldn't bring her because her mom wanted her back.
Right now the young girl is going through so much depression because we are the family she has known all her life. She couldn't establish a bond with her new home. She keeps running away from home. And I am afraid something might happen to her.The mother is asking me to help but I don't no how to.
Please will it be possible to adopt her and bring her over? Please kindly respond with possible options. Thanks

I’m going to be making some assumptions here.

First, I’m assuming the buyer hasn’t stayed in the uk for up to 3 years which is like the average credit lenders want to see before issuing credit.

Buyer attempted to buy a high value good on credit which the system declined. Buyer contacted customer service to find out what’s going on, buyer was told to retry.

I personal think this was what prompted the fraud prevention team to do a search on the customer. I’d think the first point of contact for the fraud team would be credit reference agencies like Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. Then it appears the customer don’t have enough data to backup their request for a credit facility for the said amount.

Hence, fraud team has gone further to find more information about the customer in an attempt to provide them a good reason. They want to know if the customer is genuine and where they work Cus they appear “desperate” for a high value item.

I suggest that customer shld check their credit file to see which companies have carried out searches on their name.

I don’t think the race card fits in here but then I think the fraud team shld have contacted credit reference agencies and not customer’s LinkedIn profile. For all I know, LinkedIn is a professional online CV and I doubt if they would have asked the customer for their CV before granting them the credit.

I think the fraud team “spied” on the customer. Now whether it is lawful or unlawful is the question that begs for an answer.

Make I go break fast I dey come

Seems it’s been long you checked the property price in wolves grin I think the HS2 project and maybe the football club has surprisingly affected the property values in wolves recently. Only considering that particular one Cus I knw couple of friends that stay in the block and it is strategically located, with very good transport link. Also, it will interest you to know that the rent is going up while the mortgage is going down which makes it a BTL property with a potential good return
Ticha:
You make a very valid point. New builds especially flats that are located outside the SE and London lose value very very quickly and takes forever to catch up. Works well for OO but is absolutely useless for BTL (as a new build I mean).

@omopapa although 99 years seems long, in 10 years time it would be practically unmortgageable unless the lease is extended which costs a pretty penny and 10 years is not a very long time at all. Plus most people can easily get a 2/3 bedroom house for that amount in Wolves which majority will prefer. Why are you considering an apartment?
Travel › Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by omopapa: 12:42am On Apr 04, 2022
Thanks for this. The bolded seems to be the most likely but how do I find out if there’s any major redevelopment plan by the council. To add salt to injury, this is the history of other flats in the area. No be juju be this
Ralphlauren:
I have attached the price history of my buy to let property.

I'm the second owner. The first owner bought the flat brand new and I guess the property was overpriced/over valued as at 2007. New builds are notoriously overpriced, hence why those looking to achieve the best returns in property investment avoid them.

Today, that same flat and others in the block have an open market value of at least 160k and those that have sold their flats recently achieved way above that figure.

I haven't spent a penny on any home improvement apart from painting the walls when a new tenant moves in (I'm blessed to have had 2 longterm tenants in the last 6+years) and changing the original carpets which were off white in colour. grin

My advice - do your research carefully, read the home/valuation report, read about the history of the area, find out if the area is notorious for crime (anti social behavior, vandalism, etc) and find out if the council is planning any redevelopment or rejuvenation around the area (e.g. demolishing houses in that area to build modern properties, etc)
