Since it is B.eng

Who says greatness can’t come to you?
So the guy having a conversation with the facebook founder is
Tughu Aiyewa, a Computer science graduate from Benson Idahosa
University Edo state.
Mark Zuckerberg had met with him last week when he visited
about 50 local startup founders and developers at CcHub, a local
innovation center in Lagos, Nigeria, in an effort to understand how
facebook (FB, Tech30) could “better support tech development
and entrepreneurship across Africa.
Laurie Idahosa, daughter in-law of the late Bishop Benson Idahosa
(founder of the university) was quick to express how proud she
was of Tughu Aiyewa on her Instagram handle.

Politics / Edo Gubernatorial Debate ‘‘the Mandate’’ Holds Today by Omoswags(m): 8:35am On Aug 28, 2016
The Edo State governorship debate, tagged The
Mandate, holds today August 28 2016 at the Protea Hotel, Benin
City ahead of the September 10 polls.

Speaking to Independent Radio in benin on saturday, the coordinator, Augusta Peter of Eggheads Limited, “we have put together a platform
for the people of Edo State to know their
governorship candidates, their vision for the state
and to decide their governor.
“The debate is designed to help the people make
informed decision.”
Peter added: “People are agitated and want things
to improve. We cannot solve a problem with the
same approach, same thinking we used when we
created them. We must get to know them, their
competencies and pedigree.
“The election is taking place this year and the Edo
people are eager to know what the gubernatorial
candidates from the different parties have to offer
before they can make their choices,” Peter stated.
She said the exercise aims at ascertaining which of
the aspirants has an in-depth knowledge of the
issues facing the state and could lead the people
progressively.
“We are looking for people with true passion,
capacity to run and grow the state at The Mandate,”
Peter stated.

The mandate would be aired live on ITV, AIT, NTA and other TV stations at 6pm on sunday 28 august 2016. 14 out of 19 of the gubernatorial candidates are expected to attend.

Nairaland / General / What’s The Most Difficult Thing You Ever Did? by Omoswags(m): 8:02am On Jul 07, 2016
Phew! I wrote an exam a few days ago. Yes! I mean, I had to
practically read (even memorise), then I had to go into the exam
Hall and literally write my fingers off – it gets harder to handle a
pen these days-

It’s a lot easier to type directly on my laptop or phone.
Well, the world is changing. There’s no big deal there. Everyone
writes exams now and then. Right?

Let’s not get too distracted here.

What’s the most difficult thing you ever did?
Think about it carefully. Huh?
What was it? Fighting temptations?
That’s pretty difficult, isn’t it?
Staying true to your commitments?
Getting married and staying faithful?
Writing exams? Jamb? WAEC and NECO?
Getting admitted to the University? Seems there’s a whole lotta
difficult things…

Well, I have just one answer. It may not be the same for you.
But maybe you should not be too quick to make a response.
The most difficult thing I ever did was try to stay human.
Yea! You heard me right.

It’s HARD. Like extremely difficult to stay human.
You know all these things they say about trust, and love, and
friends, and relationships, and even family?
Well, it turns out that many of them were right. Yea. It’s great to
trust, to love, to care, to just live life.
You know? Hoping for the best and expecting the worst? Nah!
Hoping for the best and expecting the best. Yea. That’s more like
it.

So, I’ve found out that in this life, it takes guts and more guts to
stay human. You’ll get hurt, and trust me, you’ll hurt others as
well.
You’ll get disappointed many times, just as much as you’ll
disappoint others.
You’ll get pushed just as much as you’ll push back. No news
there.
Tupac Shakur once said,
“that’s just the way it is, things will
never be the same.”

Akon was perhaps at the crossroads when he
sang, “this street reminds me of quicksand, when you’re on it,
you keep going down, and there’s no one to hold on to, and
there’s no one to pull you up, you keep on falling, and no one can
hear you calling, so you end up self-destructing…” PAUSE!
Yea. Being human is a one way Street. Sometimes we get it right,
sometimes we don’t.
But hey! We have to keep trying, right?
So it’s true that being human is perhaps the most difficult thing
I’ve ever had to do (and still do).
Why? Not all human beings are human beings.
Being human goes beyond breathing, eating, sleeping, talking,
walking, and all the other things Mr Niger D has to do.

Remember Mr Niger D? Come on! Characteristics of a living
thing?

Yea, now you remember. Being human takes guts.
You’ll get pushed and you’ll push back.
You’ll get hurt, and you’ll hurt back.
You’ll get slapped in the face and you’ll slap back. Hmmm.
But unknown to you, each time you push back, fight back, tit for
tart, you lose a little bit of your humanity. And boy, how difficult it
is to regain that lost part.
It’s exactly like what Akon calls it; “self destruction!”
Perhaps I’m making sense, perhaps I’m not. But as the seconds
go by, and the events unfold, I realise that being human isn’t
easy.

Then again, I realise I have no choice but to be. I realise I can’t
get lost.
I can’t lose myself, I can’t push for every push, fight for every
fight, hurt for every hurt, and tear for every tear.
I realise that I have to pick the pieces and get it all together. I
realise that no matter how difficult it is, I have to somehow find a
way to stay human.
I realise I need help from He who first made me human

Politics / Elections Under Goodluck Jonathan And Muhammadu Buhari by Omoswags(m): 9:56am On Jan 12, 2016
During the tenure of former President Goodluck Jonathan, When INEC declares a result even if it isn't in favour of his party, The PDP, he is the first person to congratulate the winner.
It helps to douse the tension.

Have you noticed Buhari doing same?
I haven't though

Jonathan even with his faults, is a true reflection of what a true and democratic leader is.
President Buhari should take a cue.

Like i said, it would help to douse tension.

Politics / Fani-kayode Speaks Up On Allegations He Got N1.7billion From Dasuki. by Omoswags(m): 1:32pm On Jan 06, 2016
read with amusement the allegation that was made in
SaharaReporters, the unofficial media wing of the Buhari
administration, Nigeria’s Secret Police, the DSS, and the
EFCC, that I was given 1.7 billion naira cash by President
Goodluck Jonathan. This is false. A few hours later they changed
their story and said that I received 1.7 billion naira from the office
of the former NSA, Colonel Sambo Dasuki. This is also false.

I have never received one kobo from President Jonathan himself,
Colonel Dasuki or any other member of President Jonathan’s
government. I have not ever been in receipt of any public funds
and neither was I the beneficiary of any payments in cash,
transfer, cheque or otherwise from any government official during
the tenure of President Jonathan.

As Director of Media and Publicity of the Jonathan/Sambo
Campaign organisation I received money on behalf of the
Directorate of Media and Publicity which I headed from private
individuals and companies during the election campaigns but
these were not public funds but rather private contributions
specifically for the Presidential and other campaigns.
Such moneys were transferred into my account by the Director of
Finance of the Presidential Campaign Organisation and that
account was SPECIFICALLY set up for the purpose of running the
publicity and media aspect of the campaign for the whole country
and my Directorate.

These private individuals and companies paid their contributions
into a designated account which was provided and controlled by
the Director of Finance and from there she transferred it to the
accounts of the various Directors and various individuals that were
running for public office that the PCO supported.
The money that was sent to me for my Directorate by the Director
of Finance was used in a lawful and responsible manner and by the
time the campaigns were over my Directorate had paid all of its
bills for services rendered and was not owing any media house or
anyone else one kobo.

The Presidential candidate of our party President Goodluck
Jonathan, the D-G of the PCO, the Auditor of the PCO, the Advisor
to the PCO and the Director of Finance of the PCO all received
reports and saw the results of the efforts of my Directorate. Not
only were they satisfied with our efforts but they also commended
us.

Those private individuals and companies that were kind enough to
support and fund President Jonathans presidential campaign with
their hard earned money were perfectly within their rights to do so
and they were more than happy with our efforts as well.
They also commended us. Even though we ended up losing the
election we fought a very virile, strong, visible, historic and
aggressive campaign and the Nigerian people can attest to this.
The encounter with the APC was an epic one and it was probably
the most active and gruelling electoral battle in the history of our
country.

Not one kobo of public funds was spent by or given to my
Directorate during the campaign and as far as I am aware not one
kobo of public funds was spent by or given to the PCO. Presidential
campaigns all over the world cost huge amounts of money and
Nigeria is no different.

This is especially so when it comes to publicity and media. My
Directorate was difficult to run and our work was capital intensive.
We did not use marshmallows, pebbles, and grass to pay for all
the services rendered to us and all the television and newspaper
adverts were fully paid for with money.

Nothing was done or given to us free of charge by anyone. This
should not be a surprise to anyone as the APC and President
Buhari’s campaign organisation did the same.
I opened an account specifically for the funds that were used to
run my Directorate and fund all our activities in order to ensure
accountability and transparency.

We also audited our accounts regularly and insisted on the highest
level of professionalism from all those that worked for or with us.
Since when such matters have become a crime or subjects of
criminal investigations I don’t know. If it was a crime to speak up
for Jonathan during the campaign they should just say so.
If it is a crime to be a member of the PDP and to be in opposition
they should just say so. If it is a crime to speak up for and defend
President Jonathan and key members of his government after he
has left office they should just say so.

If it is a crime to oppose the Buhari administration and speak up
against his gross violations of human rights that they are indulging
in and the violation of court orders they should just say so.
During the 2015 elections the PCO and my Directorate spoke up
and campaigned for many PDP members who were running for
public office and we funded and worked for them too. That was
our job and I am very proud of the PCO and the role we all played
despite limited resources.

I am particularly proud of the efforts of my team at the Directorate
and I can assure all those that care to listen and that refuse to be
misled by the government propaganda machine that we did
nothing wrong. All we did was run an effective campaign and we
did so with private funds and not funds from the government.
I am aware of the attempt by the government and my enemies to
discredit me, smear my name and silence me by alleging all
manner of wrongdoing but I am not in the least bit perturbed. As
always my innocence will fight for me and my God will never
forsake me.

I know that this government is capable of doing anything, of
inducing anyone to say anything and that they have no sense of
decency, justice or fair play. They are prepared to charge anyone
just for breathing the air if needs be and they can attempt to frame
up anyone that they believe is a thorn in their flesh.
I have always known this yet I refuse to run away or to be silenced
and I will not be cowered. Though I have been warned and told
over and over again by those amongst them who care for my well
being that I have been listed down and targeted for persecution I
am not in the least bit concerned about their evil plans for me. My
life and destiny is in the hands of God and not theirs and He will
fight for me and vindicate me.

As I have always said, the night may be dark but joy comes in the
morning. If it was a crime to use moneys that were freely donated
by private individuals from lawful and legitimate sources to fund
the Presidential and other campaigns let them say so.
No election campaign anywhere in the world, including that of
President Buhari was run with just words, goodwill, grass and
pebbles and neither were we given free campaign adverts or air
time. All these things were run and paid for with large sums of
money.

This is especially so with publicity and media because that was the
lifeblood of the various campaigns. I repeat, there is nothing that
we did in the campaign organisation or that my Directorate did that
Lai Mohammed, Buhari and the APC did not do in theirs. As a
matter of fact they spent far more than we did but I have no idea
where they got their money and whether they were private or public
funds.

Most importantly my Directorate and, as far as I am aware, the
Jonathan Sambo Presidential Campaign Organisation did not
receive ANY public funds from any government official or office to
run our campaign. Of this I am absolutely sure and I am very
confident because I made a point of asking and insisting that this
must be so. These are the facts and I eagerly await my accusers,
persecutors and detractors.
Meanwhile I shall continue to live my life in peace, I shall not be
intimidated by the boastful threats of the enemy and I will continue
to live my life in the usual law-abiding manner that I have always
done.

It is expedient and necessary for me to speak out now even
though the EFCC has not said a word on this matter or even
confirmed that there is indeed an investigation going on. This is
because the modus operandii of the Commission of late is to leak
their intentions to SaharaReporters before they strike and abduct
their victims.

This has happened on a number of occasions and sadly they use
such mediums to tell all manner of lies about the case and the
accused to the public. By the time they finish they would have
convicted their victim in a vicious smear campaign and media trial
which is usually plagued and fuelled by lies and falsehood.
It is for this reason that I have taken this opportunity, whilst I am
still at liberty, to tell the Nigerian people the truth and let them have
all the facts. I sincerely hope that my statement will help to clarify
matters in the eyes of the public regardless of whatever lies that
they will soon be inundated with by a desperate, weak and wicked
government. I fear them not because my life is in God’s hands.
God bless Nigeria.

Politics / Prophecy Or Doom? by Omoswags(m): 3:11pm On Jan 03, 2016
Nigeria Jaga Jaga
Everything scatter scatter

.... Years after Eedris Abdulkareem released the controversial hit
track describing the situation of things in the country, little or
nothing seems to have changed.

We always have a weird way of doing just everything.
Few days ago, i saw a screaming headline -as they call it- on
almost every NEWS Platform.

It read;
There Are Plans To Assassinate President Buhari – Fr. Mbaka

Very few people are seeing what is wrong with this.
But i think a lot of things is wrong with the story.

Now, if you already want to hang me, calm down abeg.
I believe in prophecies. but i am not comfortable with the way the
messages are passed.

I/We don't doubt Prophecies, even though we know some so called
'men of God' are milking unsuspecting members of the public with
it and bringing shame to the gospel.

But the way in which Nigeria men of God share their Prophecies or
messages is so wrong, and in a way patronizing.
And sometimes, it could be inciting.

The claims by Fr Mbaka that there are plans to assassinate
President Mohammadu Buhari is shocking.
Why i can not doubt his prophecies (im not God) we should not
forget that Muhammadu Buhari is not just an ordinary person, he
is a president of a Country for God sake.

Especially in a country struggling with religious and tribal issues.
Fr Mbaka is a very important persona especially after the part he
played during the last election.
So he should know better.

What if God forbid, something happens to President Buhari?
What if it was natural and something else?
But Fr Mbaka said it was planned, so what happens next?

Keep guessing.

Controversial messages or prophecies in Nigeria has become a
norms in the country.

Few days back, it was alleged that Pastor Adeboye prophesied
during his new year service that there would be a new sexually
transmitted disease this year.

The founder of Omega Fire Ministry, Apostle Sulieman was not left
out. he too was alleged to have said a lot about the nation in 2016.
But what is striking amongs all of them is the part where he said a
serving governor may die this year.

There are other prophesies for our beloved Nigeria from different
religious leaders, i just listed the trending ones, every 'Man of God
wants to be heard.

So like every musical artist waiting for January to drop a hit track,
it is now becoming a tradition for Religious leaders to make
prophecies especially at the beginning of the year or during
elections.

Years back, persons claiming to be prophets had predicted the
death of former President Olusegun Obasanjo before the end of his
stay in office.
Well you know the end of the story.

Sometimes you wonder if Prophecies are meant to put fear in the
minds of the people.

I would say no more but conclude this way

Fr Mbaka's message.......
I believe there are better channels of passing such messages
which are sensitive or are capable of inciting violence.
Though i never attended the program where he said it, but he has
not come out to deny saying it.
There are security agencies that are saddled with
the responsibility of protecting the President and his family, such
threat to the office of the president should be reported to them.

And religious leaders should quickly come out to dissociate
themselves from fake stories always flying around concerning
sensitive issues. Especially those attributed to them

We pray Nigeria would be great in 2016.
Have a Blessed Sunday.
