It's only in Nigeria we attach sentiment to everything. If he was a shortee to Nnamdi Kanu who has ran away. FG has every right to arrest him. Shame on all the igbo senator and rep members that watched the reduction of all the major projects in SS. Including the second Niger bridge and the airport.
b

When the NASS passed a bill to rearrange the order of elections, President Buhari said "No" and issued a veto.....He followed up his veto with a nice letter to the National Assembly detailing his reasons for not signing.

He did not wail....he did not speak english....he vetoed....remember?

So why has he not vetoed the 2018 budget?why is he wailing? Because the elections are more important than the budget....simple.

APC House
APC Senate
APC Executive

we have never passed a budget without drama.

You hold 2018 budget until June, you cannot conference with your Legislative and pass a budget. If the NASS cut the budget to fuel that Presidential Jet would you sign?

For the records, It is not the National Assembly that cut budget for Enugu Airport terminal.....it is APC Government of President Buhari cut the budget for Enugu Airport terminal.

I so post.

Politics / Re: I Never Promisted To Give Out Benue Land For Ranching-gov Ortom by oneligeria: 7:09am On Jun 22, 2018
Balyz:
While no state can be forced to give it's land for the ranches, the FG has the right to purchase land anywhere it deems fit to do whatsoever it likes. Also the land use act gives the FG the power to appropriate land in some instances for national development

Is ranching now a federal government business funded with tax payers money? While you are thinking of an answer are you aware that under the concurrent list only states can legislate on issues of livestock? Why do you think the FG is so desperately concerned with cattle and not any other type of livestock business such as poultry and piggery?
Politics / Re: Nigeria Steel Factory Back To Life After 40 Years - Aljazeera (Pics + video) by oneligeria: 8:47pm On Jun 20, 2018
Government started Ajaokuta Steel Company many years ago, till now, nothing reasonable is coming from that investment. Does it make economic sense to have investment that is consuming billions of naira without any tangible output?

The problem with Ajaokuta is that we did not follow expert advice for siting the project for easy accessibility to raw materials. It was after installing that we started building rails to link up. That plant ought to have been completed in three years but now it is obsolete.

The steel making technology has changed totally since we started this plant. In terms of size, Ajaokuta Steel Company is the largest integrated steel company in West Africa and has cost the Federal Government an estimated sum of about $7 billion (N1.1 trillion) since it was commissioned by the Shehu Shagari government in 1979. But, unfortunately, the plant has suffered serious set back.

The economic implication is that the cost has increased. So, after finishing, the products may not be competitive again. It means the products will not be sold at the market price that will allow them to make profits, or a reasonable marginal increase.

What is the difference between Ajaokuta Steel Company in Nigeria and Pohany Steel in South Korea ?

There are a lot of differences, but the major difference is viability. For instance, Ajaokuta project started over 30 years ago; up till now, no tangible output is realised from the project. Pohany Steel is the third latest in the world and they finished the first plant in just two years. Pohany Steel started with about 300,000 capacity but has over 8.6million tonnes capacity, showing that the investment is yielding maximum outputs

If by hook or crook Rocha's camp emerges victorious then let it be known that APC as a party will fail in Imo and massive defections will follow.

In 2003, Anambra PDP conducted 5 party gubernatorial primaries and still incumbent governor Chinwoke Mbadinuju could not get his party's ticket for a second tenure. Obasanjo told him " My friend I have tried my best for you but your people don't like you, step down and stop wasting my time".

Politics / Re: Day Of Tributes For Colonel Joseph Achuzia Begins In Asaba (Photos) by oneligeria: 8:17am On Apr 13, 2018
darqly:
Where can read about his wartime exploits?

You can also read Alexander Madiebo's book on the Nigerian Briafran war. Colonel Joe Achuzie was a portharcourt based engineer before the war. He was given a field commission as a major to help train the militia. Later promoted to colonel thanks to his many exploits, Achuzie was Biafra's most gifted and ruggeded land operation specialist at the time. He repulsed murtala Mohammed's troops crossing Onitsha from Asaba three times. He planned and executed the abagana ambush with the popular biafran bomb device (aka ogbunigwe) where a massive trail of explosions that destroyed over 150 Nigerian army vehicles killing thousands of Nigerian soldiers and scores of biafran soldiers in the process. His role in the Portharcourt, Aba, Owerri, Oguta and Mbaise axis of the war is equally note worthy. Colonel Ojukwu found in Achuzie an especially useful field commander and a source of good propaganda to the people of the ever decreasing enclave of Biafra as the war progressed being a good source of inspiration. Ojukwu's critics argue that he was guilty of playing to the gallery with achuzie's exploits and despite his many successes, news about achuzie's victories were often a distraction to Army headquarters. Achuzie's brigades (having commanded several) were always having the highest casualties, the price of his successes were often too high. It was reported once that two biafran divisions having been under unrelentless aerial and naval bombardment at Portharcourt had called on Achuzie for permission to withdraw out of the town and take up defensive positions at Asa less than 25km from Portharcourt pending on when fresh arms and reinforcements arrive. Achuzie refused and went further to direct the reporting officer to also make sure civilians (Portharcourt residents) do not leave the city. Achuzie understood the implications of losing Portharcourt in April of 1968. It would mean the biafrans losing not just oil facilities but the only international airport and access to the outside world since the fall of Calabar and Enugu the previous year. The distraught major pleaded with Achuzie that he had lost half of his men to which Achuzie replied that he should fight till the bitter end till reinforcements arrive. Achuzie was to come himself and take command. On three occasions achuzie's troops recaptured the airport and the police barracks and three times he lost them not out of lack of will to fight but to the superior fire power of the largest army in black africa. Five of my uncles (all deceased) fought in the unfortunate war, four came back alive, one of them served directly under Achuzie at the Portharcourt sector, he was just twenty two years old at the time. He told me that achuzie had a turtle charm that kept him from falling to harm. Achuzie shot deserters on sight, so nobody dared run even when the battle was thick. Achuzie rewarded bravery and ingenuity by men under him without any formalities. My late uncle told me that deep in the forest two biafran soldiers under his command conspired to assassinate achuzie (aka air raid). The bullets shot at Achuzie did not as much as scratch his skin, achuzie single handedly demolized the duo and brought them back to camp. When asked why they did what they did, one of them (a sergeant) said that they thought that by killing achuzie the Nigerian guns would be focused on other targets because they were fed up with their high casualties. The other said that he would rather die at the hands of their commander achuzie having been caught than to die of starvation or enemy bullets. That day my uncle recalled, taught him a good lesson. Achuzie surprised everybody by displaying a rare courage at mercy and a vision to be just. He reasoned that anybody who had the guts to pull a trigger at him is a huge asset to he brigade and the army, he had the two men promoted and assigned platoon commands to them. Think of the effect on the men's morale and loyalty. Achuzie is an icon indeed. May his soul rest in peace.

Politics / Re: AREWA Youths React To Obasanjo's Letter To Buhari by oneligeria: 4:56am On Jan 26, 2018
Bero replies FG on its response to OBJ's letter.

I have read your response to former President Olusegun Obasanjo and it nothing more than your usual propaganda and lies from the pit of hell. Let me use some of the prognosis of your administration vis-a-vis the many lies told in reponse to the former President.

For the records, in one of your paragraphs you made claims on the defeat of insurgencies. I make bold to say that we need no deep perusal to evaluate your recent action on the demand for another $1 Billion to persecute the same war against insurgency you claimed to have eliminated. Can we just accept you are indirectly telling us this is to fight the menace in the middle belt. Quite a sensible claim if it is but trust me that would not fly.

You also claimed to have fought corruption to a stand still but the records are clear and apparent. There are various corruption allegation in your cabinet that goes unchecked. Perhaps the one asking 'Who is the Presidency'. The absconded Maina and your AGF using court order to stop the Senate hearing. Don't lose sight of your MD at NNPC who single handedly approved contact above his limits. Just so many and the Ikoyi funds.

On the Economy, you have continued to make reference to the increase in the foreign reserve wherein one of your ministers have alleged that no capital project in the 2017 budget was executed. And for a focused and strategic nation in planning and execution, at least it is important to roll over project from previous years into the new one. Neither the previous nor current has seen a logical conclusion. Ore to sagamu, Sagamu to Ibadan all still pending.
And I ask, if you are not executing and not expending on projects, one can equally conclude that you should have a reasonable savings. But of course whatever you are running from, you would definitely come to meet it. Mind you, as a trained certified Engineer and economist, the wear and tear of alternatives roads would only absolve more beyond limits such that what you would have used or expend would be regrettable simply because you were half smart.

You have continued to talk about your exit from recession but can you just keep quiet already.

The recession was your making and it is still fragile despite its exit. I made reference to the fragility and recently IMF confirmed my fears. Obasanjo in response clearly confirmed that you don't understand the internal politics of this country. And that's why it is silly to think you would pounce on the Niger Delta region that feeds the nation. Hence your carelessness that led to a one year shutdown of Forcadoes Terminal. That terminal supplies the international market nearly 800 thousand barrels of oil daily. It was the most stupid war you got into. Yaradua was smarter than you!

You keep talking about TSA and the many reforms the previous government initiated as if it is your making. Just tell us one initiative we can tag to your administration. As usual you are an opportunist. Always riding on the potential of others. Idiagbon was a star you rode on.

You keep talking about ghost workers. You need to keep shut about this. It is not your policy perhaps idea but that of a brilliant Ngozi okonjo Nweal who design integrated payroll system (IPPS) which has continued to eliminate ghost workers.

1.8 billion capital inflow claim. Just keep quiet and reflect on the more than triple that amount that left our country through your bad exchange policy which OBJ claimed your government even enjoyed its round tripping. You intentionally induced that to favor your cronies.

About ease of doing business. It is more indicative that I was eager to start up a farming business under the previous administration. However, by your policy and silly actions, I have been on pause. I have a brother in the aviation industry whose business collapesed. How many international flight do we still have flying straight to United States? In 2015 I flew direct to Texas on United Airlines. Today they don't operate in Nigeria because of your bad policy.

In Agriculture, you lied! The many achievements and cerebral policies of Akiwunmi Adesina is still very much around
Cassava wheat bread still very much around
Walk into shop rite, you would still see the effect of the backward integration policy.

I think I don't need to respond to all your claims. The court of the citizens is open to judge you and that is if they have had dinner or lunch to have that strength to tell you these facts. Oh! They just brought my light since yesterday. Been burning fuel like am preparing hell fire for rogues in your government. Stop the lies!

The presidency has lied again.
It said that the reason there were dead men on the appointment list is that the list was prepared in 2015 and the Secretary to the Govt of the Federation just published the list yesterday after the approval was made.
The presidency just exposed it's inefficiency because it is absurd that the federal govt shall appoint people to positions without seeing the people personally, vetting the list and the DSS inviting them for interview.
Here is the lie.
On number 17 of the list is Senator Uche Ekwunife.
Uche Ekwunife was not a member of the APC in 2015. She just joined the APC few months ago so if the presidency said that the list was prepared in 2015 and that the SGF published the list this week as directed, then the presidency is telling a big fat lie.

INVESTORS DUMP 40% STOCKS OVER POOR CORPORATE GOVERNANCE
source : http://www.eyesoflagos.com/2017/12/investors-dump-40-stocks-over-poor.html

Amid domestic and global macro-economic challenges, investors on the Nigeria Stock Exchange (NSE) in 2017 deserted nearly 40 per cent stocks over poor corporate governance policy and poor performance on the bourse.
Eyes Of Lagos investigations revealed that, while some stocks deprecated in prices, these 40 per cent stocks were not traded, remaining at the same price for the second consecutive year.
‎It was learnt that Investors dumped stocks in the Information Processing companies, including Chams Plc, E-Tranzact International Plc, Courteville Investments Plc, Media/Entertainment, Daar Communications and Other Financial Institutions, Deap Capital Management & Trust Plc.
Since becoming moribund, investors have decided not to trade Dunlop (Nigeria) Plc and FTN Cocoa Processors Plc. Others are Evans Medical Plc, Omatek Ventures Plc, Premier Paints Plc and R. T. BRICOE (NIG.) Plc, among others.
Although NSE has over 170 stocks, investigation revealed that nearly 60 stocks remained flat between 2016 and 2017.
The banking stocks in 2017 benefited from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) foreign exchange interventions and stable growth in global oil prices, while the Industrial companies also reaped earnings from federal government spending on infrastructures.
Investors on the Stock Market in 2017 gained 43.34 per cent of their investments given the growth in NSE All-Share Index (ASI) that has appreciated to 38,522.14 basis points in 2017 from 26,874.62 basis points it opened this year.
The market growth has been driven by surge trading on some blue chip companies, including Dangote Cement Plc, Nestle Nigeria Plc, Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, Zenith Bank Plc and Presco Plc.
For instance, the price of Dangote Cement appreciated by 37.9 per cent or N66.00 to close last week at N240, while Nestle Nigeria price has added 82 per cent or N665 to close at N1,475.00 per share.
Prices of the likes of Guaranty Trust Bank and Zenith Bank have gained 63 per cent or 72.9 per cent to close at N40.50 and N25.50 respectively.
A total of four, out of eight stocks on NSE ASeM Index, remained flat in 2017 as most companies struggled to grow earnings and expand businesses. The four companies whose prices remained unchanged are Afrik Pharmaceuticals Plc, Anino International Plc, Capital Oil Plc and Juli Plc.
The NSE Insurance Index might have gained 9.99 per cent this year but the growth has been driven by majorly two insurance companies out of the 20 listed insurance companies on the Exchange.
Two stocks that have been driven by the NSE Insurance Index are AxaMansard Insurance Plc and N.E.M Insurance Co. (Nig) Plc.
Over 18 Insurance stocks were dumped by investors, as their prices remained flat (N0.50) for the second consecutive year. Prices of companies like Cornerstone Insurance Plc, Equity Assurance Plc, Great Nigeria Insurance Plc, Goldlink Insurance Plc, Guinea Insurance Plc, Consolidated Hallmark Insurance Plc, Lasaco Assurance Plc, Mutual Benefit Assurance Plc, Niger Insurance Co. Plc., Prestige Assurance Plc, and Regency Alliance Insurance Company Plc remained flat.
Others are Royal Exchange Assurance Plc, Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc, Standard Trust Assurance Plc, Standard Alliance Insurance Plc, Unic Insurance Plc, Unity Kapital Assurance Plc and Universal Insurance Company Plc. They closed for the second consecutive year at N0.50 per share.
Weak earnings stocks thus witnessed profit-taking this year as investors continued to trade with caution not to lose their investment.
The Managing Director of APT Securities Limited, Mr. Garba Kurfi explained to LEADERSHIP that investors in the capital market are wiser with their investment, noting that investors are interested in performance of listed stocks.
He said, “The present growth in the capital market is driven by foreign investors that do not trade in penny stocks. Foreign investors’ trade stocks with impressive fundamentals but if a stock proves to have fundamental, they trade those stocks.
“Take for instance, C & I Leasing was trading as low as N0.50 but today, C & I has risen to N1.32. The company has delivered good turnover and good performance. Investors in the capital market are wiser now and it takes only one performance to grow a particular stock

Politics / Re: I’m Fair To Ndigbo In Appointment – Buhari (picture) by oneligeria: 10:23am On Oct 15, 2017
President Muhammadu Buhari, when he started to make appointments, appointed more than 40 persons without one of them coming from the Southeast.

Some people from the zone who occupied offices, as soon as Buhari came to power, they were dropped. This was done at NIMASA, where an Igbo was appointed, but he was removed. Today, when the National Security Council is meeting, there is no Southeastern person among them. The government of Buhari removed so many southern Christian officers in the army and all security agencies.

The Southeast persons dominate the list of persons removed from office by the Federal Government; the same Southeast person has no representative in the list of appointment.

Nigeria has six geo-political zones and six major political offices, namely: president, vice president, senate president, speaker of House of Representatives, chief justice and secretary to the government. The least of them is the secretary to the government, but not even that was given to the Southeast.

Major body language of the president shows hatred for the Igbo. The army massacred young men who were not carrying even sticks in Aba; they massacred other young men who were carrying Bible in remembrance of their members; they also massacred other young men who were jubilating in Port Harcourt that Donald Trump won the American election.

Python Dance by the army has not been held in Kaduna, Katsina, Kano, Northwest or Northeast, but not only are they occupying Southeast militarily, so many people have been killed, and more people have been used as tools for humiliation and dehumanization. You saw the videos, where some people were forced to drink mud water; others forced to swim in muddy water, and other forms of humiliation.

There are so many indications of hatred and marginalisation. Are you talking about infrastructure in the zone? The federal roads are not passable; the money spent by state governments on federal roads is not refunded them so that they would not have money to fix federal roads."
