State creation is the single greatest threat to Nigeria's unity. Since it was introduced, all hell broke loose and the center stopped to hold. If we don't reject state creation for the evil of its original intent, one day, the type of war that will happen in Nigeria will make Afghanistan look like child play. Imagine Abia state with a city like Aba which was largely developed by Sam Mbakwe (an Imo son) waking up to sack Imo indigene workers Anytime I pass through Aba, I always remember Mbakwe. IMHO, Imo and Abia should NEVER have been separated for any reason. (I know some of my brothers from there will disagree but they are entitled to their opinion); same with Anambra and Enugu and Ebonyi. Whatever we think we are losing though federal allocation, can be gained many times over through unity and pulling our resources together. NO MORE STATES! ![]() |
To think there was a time I thought that this iddiot called ekt- Imagine this type of thinking -"if current importers don't import, others will step in"; pray for how long has Lagos existed as a sea port? Did import duties become a major income earner for Nigeria until recently? I bet you all that there are many industries in Nigeria TODAY still untapped (auto manufacturing for instance), which if tomorrow some Igbo dude by share grit and "Igbo spirit" makes it a major income earner for Nigeria, people like this guy will come to make the same deranged argument "if they don't do it, others will , blah blah". Mscheeeeeeeeeeeeeew. Anambra state alone has more resources than the whole SW. Let the exergerations continue! ![]() |
This heavy traffic IN LAGOS says it all. The Great Lion is making his marks even in death. Ikemba, your spirit is felt even among different nations in Nigeria. Your legacy is INTACT. ![]() Farewell. |
My personal theory is that more states leads to more dependence on Abuja handouts and less development. I bet you that if SE was one state, the problem of electricity supply for instance would have been a thing of the past now. The state would be big and strong enough to fund MAJOR projects. All these states should be scrapped! |
We don't need any new states! The existing states should be thoroughly scrutinized for viability and many of them MERGED. My state Anambra is SELF SUFFICIENT. Nobody should balkanize it for any reason. We are fine! The more they talk about this state creation thing, the angrier they make some of us. I see it as an act of WAR. ![]() The evil of disunity exploded sponteneously after Gowon unleashed this wicked plot against Nigeria in 1967. Nigeria has never recovered from it, and it has turned Nigeria into an evil crucible where disunity is cooking silently below the surface waiting to explode. Greedy politicians should carve up their families into states and fund them! Here I stand. ![]() |
Don’t create unviable states –Senator Oyofo From TAIWO AMODU, ABUJA Thursday February 23, 2012 Former chief whip of the Senate, Senator Victor Kassim-Isa Oyofo has warned against proliferation of states in the country. Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, last weekend alerted the nation that the agitation for new states across the country was increasing and had given the number as 45. But reacting to the development yesterday in Abuja, Senator Oyofo submitted that some of the existing states were finding it difficult to survive and warned against further creation of unviable states, which thrive only on revenue from the Federation Account. “In addressing the internal architecture of the federation, we must do what is obvious. This means consolidating our gains and formalizing them into laws. “It is clear that states have to be viable. A situation where a state is created to rely on the revenue share from the Federal Government, which in turn comes 85 percent from crude oil, is unviable and when deeply considered, a sin. It is a sin, because it inhibits the ability of the citizens to develop its potentials, which lie in the talents God bestowed on each of us. Through the hands of General Sani Abacha, the idea of six geo-political zones arose. Today, we have three zones in the North and three zones in the South. This arrangement eliminated the fear of what was once called the hegemony of the North. However, the dominating criteria should be the viability of a unit. “Its ability to be self sustaining.’’ On the raging controversy, surrounding the agitation for a sovereign national conference, Senator Oyofo aligned himself with the position of those, who insist that the national question could better be addressed by the national assembly. “Some have argued for a new assembly called Sovereign National Conference and there are those who say the legislative arm can do this. “It is true that the legislative arm can do this, if they can rise above petty interests and become statesmen. Already, they are talking of over 45 states, which is clear evidence that those who talk like this do not have the real development of their people at heart. They are thinking of sharing the oil money and their limited political ambition. The responsibility should be with the Presidency, which can drive the concept to fulfillment. Such a president will remain towering above all others for all times.’’ http://www.sunnewsonline.com/webpages/news/national/2012/feb/23/national-23-02-2012-012.htm |
High_Chief:Frankly the bolded is why I stopped believing in the idea of a common nation between Igbo and Yoruba. I know for sure (at least judging by opinions here) that they would NEVER condemn the killing of 30,000 innocent Igbo and Eastern Nigerians in 1966. I have seen here on this site that even some Northern minorities have condemned that action; but not Yoruba. Now, I also know that they would not wish same on themselves for any reason, so I've concluded that only the purest form of wickedness and hate can produce such convictions. BTW Hausa did not program them to hate us like this. lol This is ingrained and even inbred. That is why I laugh at those thinking that Nigeria will survive. Like I keep saying, Nigeria cannot survive and we Ndigbo don't have to push it over the edge. It was programmed to fail. ![]() |
ekwy, I forgot to give you a title before leaving. You are now the new Ada ji egbe 1 of Nairaland. ![]() I was wrong about you before. ![]() Gotta go now. |
oduasolja:Here they come! The Oduas sheet their pants anytime they see some non-Igbo Easterners eulogizing Ojukwu. This should tell our Eastern brothers that the enemy is afraid of Eastern unity. Why? Not to worry though. Our unity is gradually forming, and I'm happy that it is being led by non-Igbo of Eastern Nigeria. We shall get there because truth is indomitable. ![]() |
How can ONE Igbo girl defeat FOUR Yoruba men overnight? Chei! Let me get out of the way. This fight must go on. But come o, so these Yoruba men don't even have shame? Quite sad. Gotta go make some money. ![]() |
How many time will you tell this same lie? Even the women in the story could be Camerounians or Ghanaians or any other tribe in Africa -Bukinabes for instance. My friend your inferiority complex is the worst I have encountered here. Anyway, you are changing the topic to gutter talk, and Igboman don't waste his time on gutter talks. Gotta go. Sei an juma. ![]() |
Ji_sun_pack:So, you fork ashewos just because you think they are Igbo?lol Inferiority complex of the highest order! Chei. smh Make sure you use condoms before you get AIDS(assuming you don't have it already) . I bet you most of them are even pretending to be Igbo (afterall you cannot speak Igbo and cannot know when someone may be speaking another language even Ghana language sef) and you are killing yourself! GOAT. Abeg go siddon for corner. BTW I have a very good rope in case you need it. I keep it for idiots who are planning suicide. ![]() |
Ji_sun_pack:You misunderstand. I lived in Kano too. The anecdote likely means that the Hausa are in AWE of Igbo. The only tribe they FEAR in southern Nigeria. The Ijaw is gradually entering same shoes as Igbo because of MEND. Can anyone say that about you? Nope. So, to rephrase it, "There are 10 goats in the car and ONE LION". ![]() Ji_sun_pack:Why do you do this to yourself. Everybody in Nigeria knows that speaking about marriage and husbands, the HOTTEST CATCH BY FAR is an Igbo man. I won't debate that with you because every Nigerian woman knows this. The reason you don't see much Igbo marrying Hausa or even any other tribe much is quite simple: Igbo men prefer to marry Igbo women for a whole number of reasons, ranging from hygeine(nobody beats Igbo woman in hygiene), to natural cuteness (nobody can touch Igbo women in these. FACT ), to food types (Igbo man don't joke with Igbo foods), and of course we are mainly Christians. However, even at that, I can count quite a few Hausa women married to Igbo men in my village alone (not my town o). The one had 10 children for the husband, and their kids are my friends. We are the golden tribe in Nigeria. Your jealousy will not change that. It may even kill you! lol ![]() |
odumchi:My brother we still have Aba, Asaba, Owerre, Onitsha, Awka (to some extent), PH, Enugu, and Abakaliki. Towns like Nnewi and Arochukwu are coming up gradually and by God's grace, with all these mass returns from the North, we may soon start to see real uptick in development of these "second-tier" towns in Igboland. |
One_Naira:How can you align with someone whose position on everything is FLUID. Can you catch air with your bare hands? lol Anybody seeking a political alliance with SW, all I have to say to them is GOOD LUCK. ![]() |
odumchi:My brother that song is sad and captures the WHOLE TRUTH about this situation. Who will create jobs for our teeming graduates in Igboland? How will our state governments be able to raise tax revenues when we don't invest at home? IMHO even one KOBO invested outside Igboland in Nigeria is an irresponsible investment, because you still expect to go back "home" during Christmas vacations to meet poor people at home. If they start kidnapping you tomorrow, you start crying that Igbo hate themselves. Our people don't seem to think deep about these things. It is irresponsible to invest even ONE KOBO outside of Igboland, at least until our land is developed. Call me names, I don't give a damn. ![]() |
lol, when you hit them with hard TRUTH, they start shouting. Just go home and ask yourselves some hard questions. For instance, why haven't you EVER raise a voice against Hausa/Fulani in Nigeria? When the opportunity came during Abiola death, you all ran away to London and were shouting from there. lmao! ![]() Make I dey go biko. lol ![]() |
Ji_sun_pack:Does it occur to you that sometimes it is better to allow others make the moves while you sit back and strategize? Must we always shout even when others have not accepted what we envision? This Nigerian jungle started maturing after Jonathan became president. He started to open all the dark rooms in Nigeria for all to see. Nobody is fooled by lies anymore. The SS know the truth now. Today, the same people who accuse Igbo of planning to dominate them are coming to the SE to say sorry for their past behaviors. I wouldn't count on the "former Nigeria". Things are gradually changing. That is why we are hearing cries from certain corners. We in SE dey kampe! ![]() |
It is very laughable for any Yoruba to call Igbo "slave" in Nigeria. I don't even want to go into who played what role in terms of presidential elections and politics. History records that since the existence of Nigeria, that there was a WAR between the Igbo and the rest of the country, talkless of the North. History also records that Igbo have fought back on several occassion IN THE NORTH. History also records that Yoruba have NEVER done either, even though they have suffered some of the worst humiliation in Nigeria, from the jailing of Awolowo, to the jailing of Obasanjo (who almost died in jail), to killing of Abiola and his wife, to the humiliation of Diya, Abachas second in command (notice that Ebitu Ukiwe simply resigned in dignity from IBB regime). Omo, the REAL slaves never raise a voice or finger. |
Obiagu1:That guy should stop embarassing his father. Knowing Nnewi people well, a carmel would have to pass through the eye of a needle before ANYONE (not just Ojukwu's son) is conferred with the title of Ikemba. So, in essence, he is making a fool of himself because he will definitely have an "usu" (bat) title which carry no weight. His father was smart enough to distance from his own father (Sir Louis Ojukwu) both in title and in personal career. Hence he became greater than his father. If the younger Ojukwu thinks he can take a short cut to his father's greatness, he will soon be shocked. ![]() |
Obiagu1:lol, if kobojunkie-head is Igbo, then I am a Fulani from Katsina. |
Any time a non-Igbo Easterner eulogizes Ojukwu, some Nigerians die a little. Check out this Negro-nts "dudu". He is almost dying! lol. ![]() But I know that more is coming because truth is powerful. ![]() |
But when I look at Igboland and see all the undeveloped land and cities, I really begin to wonder what is wrong with our people. I'm embarrassed that at the time of news of our people leaving the North en masse, that some people are here advising us to take up this offer. I would politely turn it down. Anyway, onye isi ike na ebi na ala okponku. |
lol, my brothers are still debating this topic. ![]() I have to admit that I don't know how close (culturally) we Ndigbo are to the Igalas. All I know is that even Ikwerre that is Igbo teamed up with some Ijaw elements in PH to steal our properties there (though I learnt they have returned most of it). That is why I said before that we really have two options: Invest only in Igboland, or invest in a place you can at least fight and defend your property. If is was offered free, make sure you get proper documents and still be ready to call that place home FOREVER. If you cannot defend your property, back off. Simple and short. This is even a no brainer. |
Everybody should calm down. As long as the title was not confered by Igwe Kenneth Orizu III of Nnewi, the younger Ojukwu is in the same league as other COUNTLESS "Ikembas" in Igboland. He may be Ikemba of Nawfia; I know of at least four other Ikembas from other automonous communities in Anambra state alone. There is only ONE IKEMBA NNEWI. ![]() |
I have always told my Igbo brothers that the myth of land scarcity in Igboland is nothing more than a MYTH. We have ABUNDANT land in Igboland, from Abakaliki all the way to Agbor. If any Igbo wants to be really secure in his land, there are only TWO ways to go about it. (1) Stay within the boundaries of Igboland where there is abundance of land or (2) Go to any part of Nigeria to develop your properties ARMED TO THE TEETH and be prepared to fight and die there. We must be realistic. By the time we FULLY embrace these two options, I can assure you that either these types of offers would die a natural death, or we would NEVER AGAIN hear of "abandoned property" in any part of Nigeria. Umunne m, ihe aki ilu na ada n'onu abughi ihe o na ato. Here I stand! ![]() |
Beaf:That guy has the brains of an australopithecus tchadensis. Unfortunately for him, I don't understand modern Chadian language talk less of the Chadian ape man's. So, I simply step over. ![]() |
jason123:You seem to just listen to yourself and not anything I said. lol You should reread my post and see where I said this: I know that the way we Igbo feel about Nigeria now, anything other than total restructuring of Nigeria would not really attract our interestI said that for a reason. You don't expect an Eze like myself to talk like you, do you? lol ![]() |
Beaf:Ouch! ![]() |
jason123:You people just have a serious problem, walahi. So, all you can see is David Mark in the whole of SE, SS and NC? You cannot see Nnamani, or Ngige or Soludo or any of the PDP solid materials in the SE? Let me tell you, this is above the David Marks of Nigeria, or even the PDP. This game is really above Nigeria's presidential seat per se (a dictatorial seat with little accountability to the federation units). It is really about what to do with Nigeria as a country itself. That IMHO is why SW was not invited at this stage, because nobody knows where they stand on anything. I know that the way we Igbo feel about Nigeria now, anything other than total restructuring of Nigeria would not really attract our interest. ![]() |
Reggie2:Dalu nwanne I don't think that they would ever understand. lol |
^^ If they lock that thread, they should also lock this one https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-874617.0.html Stop being a hypocrite. Selective locking of threads is driving away quality Igbo posters from this site. |
