PoliticsOpinion: FG Should Abolish The Era Of Governors Retiring To Senatorial Seats Aft by onochurch(op): 10:47pm On Oct 20, 2022
Opinion: FG should abolish the era of Governors retiring to senatorial seats after an extended tenure of 8yrs- Human Rights Activist says.

By Onome Naomi Onojaefe

Over the years since the inception of democracy in nigeria, it has become a norm and tradition for governors of various states after a second tenure in office to opt for senatorial tickets in extension, to remain in power. It is almost as if it is a programmed approach for governors to obtain senatorial tickets before the expiration of an 8yr tenure from their various parties with assurances to successfully sit. As a matter of fact it has become their retirement office, some of them have spent about 12 yrs in Senate after their usual 8 yrs extension as governors.

Comrade Prince expressed his displeasure, stating that it is unbecoming and disappointing about a nation who has some well thought out constitutional rules that must be followed through but yet lacks the ethics to rule the nation accordingly. At this point, based on analysis, non of these sitting senators who were former governors have even moved a single motion that is being accepted in the house, both in the senate and house of Assembly.

Comrade Saviour, as the voice of the voiceless is of the opinion that Nigerians in diaspora should oppose the era of governors retiring to senate positions.Every governor after 8 yrs regime should be denied the senatorial ticket. They should go back to their various states and retire to their villages just like how Peter Obi retired when he finished his tenure in Anambra state, he said.

Furthermore, he stated that Nigeria has a lot of empty lands for the governors to go and farm or build up companies to employ the jobless not look for ways to siphone the nation's wealth and resources. He said federal government should take a cue from former Head of State, Olusegun Obasanjo whom upon retirement, retraced his steps to his hometown where he tilled lands for cultivation and created employment opportunities for the people.

These governors should go and do productive things upon retirement to create space for those who has the interest of Nigerians at heart, those with virgin ideas to occupy senatorial seats.
The governors have not been productive during their tenure even with the heavy budgets they present, rather they fly all around the world for meetings they can simply hold here in Nigeria, a waste of public funds. The social amenities required from the electorates has been abandoned, Nigerian roads are bad, no good water, electricity is zero, infact all that was promised was never fulfilled so what are they doing in the senate? The senate is a place whereby there is no monopoly of opinion, Comrade stated.

Saviour calls on the presidency to abolish this practice by governors, the era of "from governorship to getting an automatic ticket to Senate" should be abolished. Let them retire and give a way for more competent hands to rule.

EducationA Human Rights Activist Amb.tijani Sodik Oriyomi Has Called For The Immediate R by onochurch(op): 6:42pm On Sep 27, 2022
A Human Rights Activist Amb.Tijani Sodik Oriyomi has called for the immediate removal of both the Nigeria's Minister of Education and his counterpart the Minister of Labour and Productivity.

By Ifeoma

Oriyomi, who is the Youth /Student Coordinator,Ambassador for Peace and Enlightenment Foundation made the call during a webinar held yesterday in Lagos, with the theme; Is There Solution To End Strike In Nigeria'

"The strike is eight months now, only God knows when it will end, we therefore, demand that the Ministers of Education and that of Labour be laid off with immediate effect.

"ASUU should stand on its grounds to fight this fight once and for all because is a national fight and national disgrace.

" Nations that are smaller than our country are now making a mockery of Nigeria because of the kind of leaders we have.

"This has brought national embarrassment to us and the president of Nigeria should render an apology to the youth, students and lecturers for all unfulfilled promises."

Angry Oriyomi who said that strike is another name for Nigeria education system advised all the higher institutions in Nigeria to add 'strike' as a course, since those in-charge cannot do the needful by acting on the agreement between the federal government and ASUU had under the same administration which promised Nigerians quality education.

"When individuals are finding solutions to end the strike, the federal government through the minister of Labour sued ASUU to court which is a bridge of contract and lack of trust because this was an agreement that was reached amicably without any problem.

"It is very shameful to have a country where the government does not take education serious, it is only the children of the politicians that are in school, they are being sent out of the country to study while ASUU is still on strike.

"The minister of education went out the country in the middle of ASUU strike crises to celebrate his child's graduation in London.

" This is the same with other top office holders, even the one number citizen of Nigeria whose wife travelled abroad to celebrate her daughter in law's graduation.

"This is to show that they don't care about what an ordinary man is going through, Nigeria, the giant of Africa has become a laughing stock.

"Nigeria which other countries look up to and called big brother is now a baby that is sucking feeding bottle.

He said that the quality of education in Nigeria has degenerated to where a five year course takes up to eight or nine years to graduate.

"It is unfortunate, the quality of education has been destroyed, our youths have no hope, still the leaders castigate them, what a nation?

"The system is becoming very boiling and look at those who just did their external examination that recorded a mass failure so they can be able to repeat next year and the money spent in WAEC is wasted .

EducationSpeech: "Embracing Change And Transformation In Schools : The Role Of Stakeholde by onochurch(op): 7:41pm On Sep 16, 2022
SPEECH:
"EMBRACING CHANGE AND TRANSFORMATION IN SCHOOLS : THE ROLE OF STAKEHOLDERS" BEING A SPEECH PRESENTED
BY SUNDAY FOWOWE, NATIONAL PRESIDENT, ASSOCIATION OF NURSERY AND PRIMARY EDUCATION(ANPEIN) AT THE ANPEIN/ STAKEHOLDERS FORUM IN OSUN STATE.

It is important to state first and foremost that, for every Nigerian child, early years matter, and to produce and achieve right adulthood, there must be right early start in life.
The president stated the importance of the early years to children' lives, to the parents and the society at large.
It is now beyond debate, that a good beginning to life is well recognized, as the foundation for future development. And no doubt, it is beneficial to their health and well being throughout their life time.
Research evidence has also documented in many fields of study, that the care and support received by a child in terms of good health, nutrition, psycho-social care and protection are crucial in the formation and development of their intelligence, personality and social behaviour. It is therefore imperative at this juncture to state that, the holistic development of a child greatly dependent on multi-sectoral pursuits, converging interventions on health, nutrition, care, stimulation, protection and participation of the child. Don't be surprised in our association and discussions at this conference that , we shall refer to that convergence as LEARNINGplus (learning +). It is worthy to say here clearly that, programme of activities for children in the early years before compulsory schooling in Nigeria, are typically grouped under the terms - Nursery education, kindergarten education; Pre-school, etc and thereafter , the preparation for the formal schooling starts off .

We need state it unequivocally here that, most associations on children in Nigeria dwell more on pre schoolers and their teachers but ours ,combines pre school ,primary school and up to Junior school ( *BASIC EDUCATION*) You often hear people say teaching is an easy job and everyone can do it. This is a total wrong notion because, teaching is by far, one of the most complex professions that requires expertise and pedagogical skills in both teaching and protection/safety. It is not only important to process knowledge but the ability to impart knowledge and ensure the total development of children than anything else is equally imperative. Only a few people that are professionally trained can do the job in question effectively. If this is true of teaching, then establishment of this association is therefore premised on the fact that, an association in Nigeria that accommodates teacher-trainers (lecturers), Professional caregivers and teachers, researchers, in the field of nursery and basic education programmes is highly needed.
Thus, ANPEIN a national, not for profit generation, but professional association, supporting nursery and basic education instructors/teachers at all levels in their teaching and learning, protection of the rights of the children in Nigeria is therefore presented to the public.( OSUN STATE) officially today .
ANPEIN was established in 2016 to build a working relationship and network with the leading academics in Nigeria, international partners, NGOs, Science and ICT professionals and exemplary classroom researchers that will support professional caregivers, teachers and lecturers in discharging their duties in terms of teaching, researching and other protocols about childs well being.
Perhaps, it is instructive to highlight the specific Objectives and Functions here :
ANPEIN believes that the equation is simple for the rights of the children to be guaranteed and that education is the most basic insurance against poverty, ignorance and stagnancy. Education represents opportunity to survive, live a meaningful life. At all ages, it empowers people with the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to shape a better children.
The basic goal of the association for Nursery and Primary Education instructors (ANPEIN) is -Research, the application & implementation of research findings regarding children in (Nursery and Basic Education) for the effectiveness and the improvement of quality education for the young ones.
Classroom based research, focus on print and digital publications.
-An extensive program of continuous professional development trainings for members.
-Partnership with relevant agencies on project that will facilitate quality teaching and learning in our school system.
-To promote understanding and collaboration among researchers and professionals in Nursery and Basic Education.
-Facilitate exchange programs among member, schools, and higher institutions.
-Promote follow up programs for teachers, schools and higher institutions that are members
-Organise conferences, seminars, workshops, and round table discussions for the improvement of Nursery and Basic Education in Nigeria.
-Published books, journals, newsletters, pamphlets, magazines, e.t.c. on Nursery and Basic Education.
Participate in local, national and international conferences in accordance with association's aims and objectives.
I seize the opportunity of today to state the Vision Statement:
-Eradication of all inhibiting factors, militating against the growth and development of the Nigerian child.
The Mission Statement too is hereby produced:
-To utilize research findings as advocacy tool to protect the conventional rights of the child and sensitize the society and other policy makers on the state of childrens education in Nigeria with a view to assisting in their development
-To utilize research findings and appropriate technology as strategic tool for training and development of caregivers, teachers, parents and even teachers’ educators in order to strategically develop sound professionals for improved and quality childhood education entrenchment in Nigerian society.
Our Goal too is to support children's desire to be life-long learners (LLL) through pedagogical programmes and protection schemes for their parents, teachers, caregivers and school administrators.

Pay attention to our Slogan/Motto as it
- Provides quality trending for children in education and healthy development.
Our anthem is unique:
ANPEIN is a child protection agent
We are caregivers and teachers in all ramifications
We promote EFA, MDGs and SDGs and other
Conventions and protocols about Nigerian children.
We train and build lives and chart ways for the future leaders.
Great caregivers, Great Teachers! Great Educators,
We are not discriminatory,
We encourage the vulnerable, the disadvantaged and
The neglected and we love the profession we are in.For avoidance of doubt and clarification purposes ,the functions of the association see presented once again to the good people of Osun State:
-The functions of the association include the followings amongst others:
-Bridging the gap among the educational theories, policy and practice, to ensure the inclusion of research on children in indigenous minority communities, children with disabilities, children in emergencies, rural and remote areas and children in conflict and post conflict situations.
Organizing workshops, conferences, seminars and round-table, discussions for all categories of professionals about holistic development of children.
