PoliticsAMPEF Seeks Probe Of Yakubu Mahmood By EFCC, DSS - Says 355bn To Conduct 2023 El by onochurch(op): 1:49am On Mar 24, 2023
AMPEF seeks probe of Yakubu Mahmood by EFCC, DSS - Says 355bn to conduct 2023 Election is a waste of public funds.

By Onome Naomi

AMPEF, a human rights organization in Nigeria expressed total dissatisfaction in the just concluded 2023 election in both states and presidential race, says INEC chairman lacks integrity. The election is stated by many as incorrigible taking into note 355bn cost for conduct allocated to get a credible outcome.

The convener of AMPEF, Comrade Saviour Iche said INEC as a body has been rated below average having spent 355bn to conduct 2023 Election yet has no iota of credibility in its dealings, rather the country has faced immense ridicule for lack of integrity and maneuvering displayed to the amazement of the world. He said INEC chairman, Yakubu Mahmood was given enough time to prepare for the election with solid equipments as well as enough manpower to discharge duties diligently and credibly but had a reverse to its case.

He further said, 98%percent of Nigerians had a100% trust in INEC due to the initial assurances proclaimed especially during Chatham House visit in London where INEC Chairman explained the modalities of operation for 2023 Elections as well as an amendment of the law on 2023 electoral act signed by the present administration. All of this measures gave a rising hope to Nigerians that the election will be free and fair, a hopeful situation which also gave rise to active participation from the young and old as they all moved out enmass in the voting exercise to choose their preferred candidate as it's being done in other countries.

General Assessment By AMPEF

Over the years there has been a general belief that electorates votes do not count but with assurances from INEC on the preparedness of 2023 presidential and state governorship elections, all came out to vote having in mind that the vote will count. A sordid observation did show that people had to pay for their PVCs but wasn't deterred with the hopes that there is need for a new Nigeria. Nigerians in diaspora also participated actively by coming into the country to exercise their votes with hopes that these votes will count.

The presidential result was not transmitted live but the senate and house of Representatives results was transmitted live which raised a lot of questioning as to why the BVAS failed to transmit the presidential election, the credibility of INEC chairman has been put to question. This had led to a low turnout of electorates in the Gubernatorial and State House of Assembly elections conducted, due to loss of hope on INEC for fairness.

INEC chairman also violated some electoral act by compelling state coordinators to announce falsified results, some who didn't adhere to this antics were kidnapped while others were compelled to do their master's bidding. The choice of who wins and losses is determined by INEC and not the votes by electorates, there were also samples of falsified result sheets all over the internet, a total display of shame which is visible to the world to further mock the administrative system of FG.

The world was eager to see the electoral promises, the process which could have been emulated as a reference point by countries but instead was ridiculed due to corruption, lack of efficiency and lack of integrity by INEC who has woefully failed Nigerians.

The question is,
Why was Nigerians made to go through the rigors of getting the PVC when votes will not count?

Why did INEC subject Nigeria, the giant of Africa to mockery by holding a caricature of an election, an open display of corruptible practices?

The Brusque Request

AMPEF Demands that EFCC should proceed in probing INEC Chairman, to tell Nigerians how 355bn public funds was utilized if Nigerians still couldn't even get a credible election. DSS should as well proceed without delay to arrest INEC chairman, Yakubu Mahmood and his Co empires who has taken Nigerians for a ride by making a mockery of the giant of Africa. This lack of credibility has led to the looming crisis we see with other affected or cheated parties who had proceeded to court for a redress of the falsified figures in votes.

Tribal Sentiment Ridicules The Essence Of Democracy - Comrade Iche.

....Urges Nigerians to shun violence, intimidation, tribalism, dehumanisation but be at peace

By Onome Naomi

Comrade Prince Saviour Iche, the convener of the voice of the voiceless expressed concerns over practices exhibited during the Gubernatorial election held 18th March 2023, in Lagos. He talked about the violent scenes, blood shed, threats, intimidation, dehumanisation tribalism melted out on indigenes and non indigenes in Lagos.

The voting exercise was subjected to order in favour of the ruling party as well as an open threat to non tribe which consists of the igbo and other non Yoruba tribes to vote a certain party, if not, leave the polling unit, thereby promoting tribalism and instigating electoral violence.

Comrade Iche States'

"On the issue of threat of non Yoruba to vote in favour of the ruling party and not the candidate of their choice, this is not a welcome development as it ridicules the essence of democracy in Nigeria

We are still one Nigeria, even Nigerians in diaspora participates in election held in the countries they reside devoid of discrimination as to whether they are indigenes or not, everyone votes. However, all the tribes in Nigeria have been living peacefully but it has been keenly observed that the politicians are the cause of the division we now experience."

Comrade Iche noted that some Nigerians have been elected in some high positions of the government abroad without victimization or tribalism or racial discrimination. When some group of people starts victimising and intimidating using hate speech and confrontation to prevent their fellow citizens from exercising their civic rights it is tantamount to hatred and a call for concern. It is most unfortunate that some persons used by politicians to perpetrate this act have sold their souls because of little gains, he quipped.

Siting an example he said:

When Nigerians are on a tournament with other countries, no one talks about tribe everyone will join hands together to achieve a common goal and that's cooperation. This tribalistic approach to electioneering by politicians and electorates should be called to order by the FGN.

Peace Accord Signed By Political Parties

What is the need of the peace Accord signed by various political parties? Comrade Iche further stated that he expects the elders of the land to react on this brewing issues, Elders like Gen. Abdul Salam Abubakar who is one of the pioneer of the peace Accord, IBB and others although Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo tried his bit. This non chalant approach has led me to ask if the peace accord is a farce? As clear as it seems, there has been no peace so far just by observing the way lives and properties were destroyed and how people live in fear of the unknown in a country that is supposedly peaceful.

Saviour urges the Federal Govt to act speedily in resolving these matter before it becomes a historical happening as something needs to be done urgently so that the people can live in peace. Already the Igbos are facing a lot of threats, they are citizens of this country yet alienated.

Comrade Prince Saviour appeals to Igbos to keep their calm and focus more on issues of politics in the east, channel most of the energy to elect capable hands in the home states, elect governors that can represent the Igbos well before the Federal Government of Nigeria, senators that can speak and get federal allocations as he advises Igbos not to put much effort in politics of other states but focus on the eastern region to be able to elect people of competence.

Is the judiciary system still the last hope of the common man in Nigeria? - Com Prince Saviour Iche

By Onome Naomi

Comrade Prince Saviour, Convener of AMPEF solely engaged in human rights activities as voice for the voiceless expressed profound dissatisfaction in the judicial system as seen in recent episodes regarding the Naira Swap policy, the presidential election irregular factors, the Nnamdi Kanu issue and many other matters that concerns rulings that was countered by the Federal Govt, the presidency.

He stated that the judiciary is said to be the last hope of the common man, disappointingly they have sold their birth rights to the FGN. Since the inception of the administration, the judiciary have been subjected to ridicule due to its wavering stands on judgements passed about sensitive issues of the nation, after ruling there should be effectiveness, Iche asserted.

Comrade Iche also noted that since the present administration entered into power, the judiciary has not taken firm stands after a certain ruling which has led to flouted orders by the governmment. This same government are the ones appointing judges thereby narrowing their horizon to do their biddings, to keep a stained garment. Lack of fair judgement in the law court is also a call for concern, a singular reason why we get to witness cases been taken from one court to another either to appeal or get a Supreme judgement due to unsatisfactory ruling.

The Supreme Court has the highest of orders in Nigeria legal system and should make firm its decisions by seeing to its latter to make sure the Federal Govt never flouts its order but harken immediately to its pronouncement not give rulings based on who is with the money bag, the highest bidding thereby compromising on true justice, Saviour stated.

The Naira Note Policy and its hullabaloo

Comrade Prince Saviour said that this is not the first time Supreme court ruling on Naira note issue is disregarded by FGN. The judgement states that both new and old naira notes should co- exist until 31st of December 2023, yet there has been no effectiveness in carrying out the order which makes judiciary seem inefficient in handling sensitive national issues of concern. A situation whereby the Attorney General of the Federation is a card carrier of the ruling party, How do you think he will work against his master? When the same judge is appointed by the Federal Govt who has In turn taken over the decisions rather than carry out a judgement with immediate effect, thereby putting Nigerians into derision..

Omoragbon appeals to Lagosians to vote Sanwo-Olu of APC for Second Tenure

..Says vote for the Governor is vote for continuity

By Cyriacus Nnaji

Pastor Peters Osawaru Omoragbon, former Governorship candidate in Edo State under the National Conscience Party (NCP) has appealed to Lagosians to come out en mass on Saturday, March 11, 2023, to vote for the performing Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Pastor Omoragbon who made his position known in a live broadcast on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, maintained that a vote for Governor Sanwo-Olu is a vote for continuity.

Omoragbon said “I am making this appeal tonight on behalf of Governor Sanwo-Olu, the current Governor of Lagos State, who is seeking his second and last tenure in office under the All Progressives Congress (APC) and why he should be allowed to have a second tenure.

“You will quite agree with me that within the last four years of Governor Sanwo-Olu’s governance, he has embarked on gigantic projects, projects that are so terrifying in terms of the massiveness and impact, not only on the economy for Lagos State, but by extension, the economy in Nigeria,” he said.

Omoragbon maintained that Governor Sanwo-Olu has implemented infrastructural projects and policies that are only comparable to what is obtainable in advanced countries. He pointed out that his imprimatur can be felt in transport infrastructure, railway, seaport, adding that he has also done well in healthcare system, among others.

He questioned rhetorically “Is it in transport sector? The Lagos railway system has been transformed to what is comparable to what is operational in Europe and America, or is it the seaport, the Lekki Seaport that has been created under this government, it is something that can only be possible in advanced countries, or are you talking about the healthcare delivery system?”

Omoragbon also reminded Lagosians of the commendable the role the governor played in containing the Covid-19 pandemic in Lagos State, adding that he worked day and night, giving updates, issuing guidelines and making sure lives were saved.

The Edo born politician who disclosed that he has lived in Lagos for more than 50 years said he was in the position to tell the world that Governor Sanwo-Olu has performed excellently well “I came to Lagos in 1970, had my education in Lagos and worked at the Federal Psychiatric Hospital Yaba where I retired in i985, I got married in Lagos and had all my children in Lagos; and I can tell what Lagos was before the advent of the current democracy and what Lagos is as at now.”

Don't Vote PDP, Vote APC, NCP Urges Edo lites, Says Obaseki Committed More Than 50 Sins.

By Cyriacus Nnaji

Leadership of the National Conscience Party (NCP) in Edo State has issued out advisory to the good people of Edo State to vote parties other than the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming State Assembly Election on Saturday March 18, 2023.

In a circular titled ‘A clarion call on Edolites in the face of the upcoming House of Assembly Election on Saturday,  March 18, 2023’, signed and made available to the media by the Deputy National Chairman of NCP (South-South) Pastor Peters Omoragbon, the group accused Governor Obaseki of committing more than 50 sins.

“The NCP urges Edolites to come out in their numbers on Saturday, March 18, 2023, to vote mainly candidates from the opposition political parties in Edo State. This is the only way we can put Governor Obaseki under effective Check and ensure that Edo State move genuinely forward,” the circular read.

The circular reads in full: The writing of this piece has become compelling following the antics being played by Governor Godwin Obaseki on the good people of Edo State as this all-important election is fast approaching. Indeed, the National Conscience Party (NCP) is watching with laughter how Governor Obaseki is busy moving from ward to ward, local government to local government and from one part of Edo State to another begging the electorates to vote his PDP cronies otherwise called candidates into Edo State House of Assembly.

The question is has Ematon (meaning Iron which he prides himself with) suddenly become melted/humbled that he too can now be begging whereas he had over time refused to be begged for anything or accept to respect the legitimate rights of Edolites who he had been victimizing?.

Our dear Edo People, let us come to the facts of the matter. Edolites made all sacrifices in 2020 to renew Governor Obaseki’s mandate voting massively for him out of sympathy and solidarity at a time he was rightly or wrongly perceived to be oppressed or victimized by the then prevailing APC hierarchy.

No sooner the second term mandate was renewed for him than he transformed into a thin god who comfortably pocketed Edo State as he alongside his Deputy and Secretary to the State Government had become the cabal determining the affairs of the State. First, these three musketeers crippled the state House of Assembly by working with only nine out of a suppose 24-member Edo State House of Assembly for all the period Governor Obaseki had been holding sway since 2016 to date.

Little surprise that the State House of Assembly was moved for a longer period of time to the old Exco Chamber in Edo State Government House for sittings while its overriding function was to rubber-stamp all “opinions” of the three musketeers which were being confused for bills.

Schneider Electric Releases New White Paper, TradeOff Tool, Focuses on How DCIM Addresses Hybrid IT Management Challenges

By Naomisophyblog

Schneider Electric, the leader in digital transformation of energy management and automation, has released White Paper 281, "How Modern DCIM Addresses CIO Management Challenges within Distributed, Hybrid IT Environments" and a supporting TradeOff Tool, both available for immediate use.

The new White Paper focuses on Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) software and takes a close look at the rapidly-changing role of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) as IT has taken center stage in the past few years. The document demonstrates how the success of a CIO is ultimately rooted in a solid foundation of maintaining resilient, secure, and sustainable IT operations. In an environment of highly distributed hybrid IT, this goal becomes harder to accomplish.

“Business requirements are forcing CIOs to hybridize their data center and IT portfolio architecture by placing IT capacity in colocation facilities and building out capacity at the local edge – sometimes in a big way,” said author Patrick Donovan, Senior Research Analyst at Schneider Electric’s Energy Management Research Center. “CIOs have always been tasked with managing and maintaining resilient and secure operations, but generally have been focused on core data center sites. Now, on top of having many more distributed sites needing resiliency and security, they are also being asked to report on the sustainability of their IT operations. This marks a real sea change in terms of their responsibilities.”......

CrimeAhead Of Polls, NDLEA Storms Edo Forest, Destroys 7,286kgs Skunk After Gun Battl by onochurch(op): 5:23pm On Feb 23, 2023
Ahead of polls, NDLEA storms Edo forest, destroys 7,286kgs skunk after gun battle

. Arrests suspect, recovers 2 rifles, others

Ahead of the commencement of the 2023 general elections on Saturday 25th February, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have stormed the Ujiogba Forest Reserve in Esan West LGA, Edo State where they destroyed 7,286 kilograms (72.86 tons) of warehoused skunk and five hectares of its plantation.

The special operation carried out on Wednesday 22nd Feb followed credible intelligence that some cartels had warehoused hundreds of jumbo bags of the illicit substance inside the thick forest of the reserve for distribution to some states ahead of the general elections.

The operation could however not go on immediately until after several road blocks set up by armed guards of the drug lords were cleared and they were overpowered by the superior firepower of Strike Force officers of the Agency in a gun duel. After the initial resistance, two rifles, spent cartridges of short guns and an empty shell of AK47 rifle were recovered while a 24-year-old suspect, Calvary Essien, was arrested.

After the gun fight, the NDLEA operatives in their numbers successfully descended on a big warehouse constructed with wood and zinc containing: 100 jumbo bags of cannabis sativa weighing 3.2 tons; 5,000 bags of cannabis weighing 65 tons; and 137 bags of cannabis seeds weighing 4.66 tons, totaling 72.86 tons. Seven bags of cannabis and one bag of its seeds were subsequently taken out of the warehouse for further investigation and prosecution of suspects while the rest was set ablaze.

This is coming on the heels of a similar operation on Wednesday 18th January in the Opuje forest in Owan West Local Government Area of the state where massive warehouses and tents storing over 317,417 kilograms (317.4 metric tons) of the psychoactive substance were destroyed and set ablaze in a two-day operation.....

Ajeromi Ifelodun : “Reports, rumors dismissing my re-affirmation is fake, I remain the chosen one” – Omo-Barka

By Naomisophyblog

The campaign organization of Hon Francis Barthlomew Chima aka OmoBarca has alerted the general public and the electorate in Ajeromi-Ifelodun federal constituency about a fake news being ochestrated by mischievious elements regarding the recent Appeal Court Judgment that reaffirmed OmoBarca as the authentic Peoples Democratic Party House of Representatives candidate.

In a press release by media aide to OmoBarca, Mr Obinna Solace, the said unfounded and baseless rumuour is disemminated by one Tee Taiwo who functions as spokeman for Rita Orji to misinform the public.

Solace described as mere fabrication the news that the Supreme Court has dismissed the judgment of the Appeal Court that just reinstated his principal. Read part of statement:

“How can a case which has not even been served on all respondents be dismissed? How can a case which has got no date for hearing be dismissed? Is Rita ORJI and her cronies this desperate? How much has the other political parties paid her to cause confusion in PDP Ajeromi Ifelodun constituency?

“For the sake of clarity, what transpired in the Supreme Court is that Hon. Francis Barthlomew Chima aka OMOBARCA has withdrawn his case appealing the Abuja court of appeal judgement because he has gotten a descent and recent judgement which dismissed the Abuja court of appeal judgement and also declared him the authentic candidate for PDP Ajeromi Ifelodun federal constituency for the House of Representatives candidate here in Lagos state court of appeal.....

Lord's Chosen: Ex-Employee raises alarm over threat to life by Pastor Mouka, Petitions AIG Zone 2.

By Naomisophyblog

A former employee of Pastor Lazarus Muoka, the General Overseer of The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Movement, Mr. Dike Atuenyi has petitioned the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 2, Onikan, Lagos over the threat to his life by his former employer for demanding his 13 years unpaid salaries.

Mr Atuenyi who spoke to some journalists over the weekend alleged that some people called him with hidden numbers and threatened to deal him if he does not withdraw the case against pastor Muoka and that they already have his picture and residential address.

Mr Atuenyi had in a petition to the AIG, zone 2 dated 31st January, 2023 through the Ambassadors for Peace and Enlightenment Foundation, APEF, a human rights organization alleged that Pastor Muoka had asked him to resign his appointment with the Lagos state ministry of transport to head the transport department of the ministry with an appointment letter dated June 10th , 2009 with the promise to pay him twice of what he was paid at the Lagos state ministry of transport.

Consequently, he resigned and joined Pastor Muoka who never honoured his promise. According to Mr Dike, each time he asked for his salary, Pastor Muoka would tell him that he had great plans to establish him in a big way and that he should relax, and never paid him a dime until he left the place in November, 2022 to demand for his unpaid salaries.

Mr Atuenyi further stated that sometime in January, 2023, he was invited by pastor Muoka following the intervention of Ambassadors for Peace and Enlightenment Foundation, APEF, a human rights organization he cried to for help for settlement of their differences but to his amazement, he got the most fearful and terrifying threats to his life, to the extent that he was repeatedly told to go and enquire about the whereabouts of Juliet, popularly known as One man mopol (a deceased member of the church who was murdered shortly after she collided with pastor Lazarus Mouka).....

Supreme Court suspends CBN deadline on old, new naira notes swap.

By Naomisophyblog

Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered a suspension of the deadline for the swapping of old to new Naira notes by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The Supreme Court issued an interim injunction restraining the Federal Government from suspending the acceptance of the old Naira notes on the Friday February 10, 2023 deadline.

Kaduna, Zamfara, and Kogi State on Monday instituted a suit against the Federal Government at the Supreme Court over the scarcity of old and new Naira notes due to the CBN naira redesign policy.

The state governments said they are worried about the effects the CBN naira redesign policy is having on the residents of their states.

Consequently, they are seeking a restraining order by the Supreme Court to compel the government and CBN from implementing the policy.

The states filed an ex-parte motion through their lawyer, AbdulHakeem Uthman Mustapha (SAN), and are urging the Supreme Court to grant them an interim injunction stopping the Federal Government either by itself or acting through the CBN, the commercial banks or its agents from carrying out its plan of ending the timeframe within which the now older versions of the 200, 500 and 1000 denominations of the Naira may no longer be legal tender on February 10.......

He was debarked from an Ethiopian airline flight on Friday 3rd February after officers in the tarmac team of NDLEA intercepted two bags during a secondary check exercise at the foot of the aircraft.

When the bags were searched in the presence of Chinedu and other airport stakeholders, two big pellets wrapped with foil papers and some sprinkles of pepper were recovered from each of the two sides of one of the bags. The pellets were used to construct false walls at the sides of the bag.

The two parcels contained substances that tested positive to cocaine and heroin with a gross weight of 1.30kgs and 900grams respectively. During preliminary interview, Chinedu claimed he came to Nigeria three months ago to do a surgery, which he was not comfortable doing in Athens. He further claimed he was given the bag to deliver in Greece for a fee of two million naira (N2,000,000).
Similarly, NDLEA operatives at the NAHCO export shed of the airport on Monday 30th January arrested a pregnant woman, Mrs. Sylvester Gloria Onome after 800grams of skunk were discovered concealed in two small radio sets she was sending to Dubai, United Arab Emirate.

During a thorough search of the consignment, a parcel of white crystalline substance that tested positive to methamphetamine with a gross weight of 1kg, as well as 300grams of skunk and 100grams ecstasy (MDMA) were recovered. A freight agent, Mfonabasi Victor Joseph was already arrested in connection with the seizure.

No fewer than 255,500 pills of tramadol and diazepam were recovered from an Italy based suspect, Duru Josephat who concealed the drugs in two of the bags he was travelling with to Milan, Italy on an Ethiopian airline flight. He confessed he bought the drugs in Onitsha, Anambra state and was taking them to Italy to sell.

Barely a month after operatives at the Tincan seaport intercepted a consignment of 24.5kgs of cannabis indica concealed in used vehicles imported from Canada, they have again seized 75.75kgs of the same substance, which came from Montreal, Canada, hidden in a container of four used vehicles with number MSCU 5336680. Coincidentally, the consignment has also been traced to a suspect already in custody in connection with the earlier seizure, Steve Adigwe and his accomplice, Cedrick Maduweke who is still on the run.

In Bauchi state, a suspect Clement Ekweozor, was nabbed at Rafin Zurfi area, Bauchi town with 28,088 pills of tramadol and other opioids, while 12,000 capsules of the same drug were among others recovered from four suspects when their commercial bus marked UGH 978 KS was intercepted at Koka junction, Asaba, Delta state by NDLEA operatives on Wednesday 1st January.

PoliticsSupreme Court Dismisses Pdp’s Suit Against Oyetola’s Participation In Osun Guber by onochurch(op): 2:44pm On Feb 02, 2023
Supreme Court dismisses PDP’s suit against Oyetola’s participation in Osun guber election.

The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed an appeal by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, seeking to restore the nullification of the participation of Osun State’s former Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, and his Deputy, Benedict Alabi, in the July 16, 2022 governorship election.

Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja had, in a judgment on September 30, 2022, nullified the participation of Oyetola and Alabi in the governorship election on the grounds that their nomination forms were endorsed by an acting Chairman of APC, who was also a serving Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni.

Justice Nwite’s judgment was set aside by the Court of Appeal, Abuja in a judgment in December last year, a decision the PDP appealed to the Supreme Court.....

PoliticsOsun State NCP Rejects Backdoor Alliance With Any Party by onochurch(op): 11:18am On Jan 31, 2023
Osun State NCP rejects backdoor alliance with any party

 By Cyriakus Nnaji

National Conscience Party (NCP) Osun State Chapter, has stated that it is not in support of any backdoor alliance with any political party in Nigeria.

Their position was made public in a press statement signed by Comrade Gideon Fasorepo, NCP Chairman, Osun State, and the Secretary, Comrade Ademola Bankole.

The State chapter decried the purported meeting called by Dr Tanko Yunusa whose tenure has since elapsed, they stated that the former chairman lacked the locus to convoke such a meeting without the consent of the NEC/NCC. “It came to our attention that Dr Tanko Yunusa called a meeting in Abuja recently and tagged it NEC/NCC meeting on the 21 - 22nd of January, 2023 at Abuja under the auspices of our party, National Conscience Party (NCP). The former chairman of our party (Mallam Tanko Yunusa) hosted the meeting despite lacking the authority to convene such a meeting without the consent of the NEC/NCC.”

“We reject any backdoor alliance with any groups of individuals or political parties. All alliance meetings and endorsements of candidates should be routed through the proper channel for dialogue and not through compromising ways. We equally do not accept all appointments and committees created during the said emergency meeting. We believe they are not in line with the constitution of our party.

“We, as a chapter, are fully focused on getting justice on the pending case at the court and having a convention afterwards,” the release stated.

The group said Tanko’s action is both uncalled for and compromising to convened such a press conference for the sole purpose of announcing an alliance with another party and endorsing their candidates for the forthcoming elections all in the name of the party, without the proper knowledge of the NEC/NCC members both at the National and state level. “We believe this is totally uncalled for and compromising the principles and tenets of the foundation of our party.”

The release stated further, “In light of available facts, it is to the best of our knowledge that Yinusa Tanko's tenure as the chairman of our party expired in 2020. However, since the INEC directive to deregister the party (the case is still pending in court), another convention hasn't been held to elect a new chairman and other positions of the NEC. That makes the leadership of the party remain with the bonafide NEC/NCC members of the party and not the unidentified group that purportedly met to hold an emergency meeting in Abuja..

CrimeNDLEA Busts Trans-border Cartel, Arrests 5 Kingpins, Seizes Skunk, Meth In Compr by onochurch(op): 1:01pm On Jan 29, 2023
NDLEA busts trans-border cartel, arrests 5 kingpins, seizes skunk, meth in compressors(VIDEO)

. Intercepts 2,601.5kgs cannabis; 102,500 opioid pills in 8 states

By Onome Naomi

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have successfully dismantled a trans-border drug cartel and arrested five leaders of the syndicates operating in parts of the world in a special operation that lasted weeks during which different quantities of skunk, methamphetamine and ephedrine as well as air compressors used to conceal and distribute them globally were recovered.

The special operation came on the heels of a warning by the Chairman/Chief Executive of the Agency, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd) that drug barons and cartels will have it rough in 2023 if they fail to back out of the criminal business.

Leaders of the cartel which spreads across Dubai, UAE; Cotonou, Benin Republic; Togo; Oman, Thailand and Europe as well as Lagos, Imo and Onitsha in Anambra state, had while on Christmas and New Year holidays in their villages were still coordinating efforts to send their illicit consignments to Dubai and other parts of the world.

Their lid was blown open on Thursday 29th December 2022 when their freight agent, Onyeisue Collins Chukwudi was arrested by NDLEA officers at the SAHCO export shed of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Ikeja Lagos for attempting to export three big automobile air compressors to Dubai. A quick follow up operation led to the recovery of additional five compressors at his home at 24 Legacy road, Ayobo area of Lagos.
A total of 27.50kgs of skunk were taken out of the air compressors after welding equipment were used to cut them open.

Further investigations revealed that the freight agent was working for a bigger organized criminal group. As a result, extensive operational tools were deployed to track the first kingpin, Onuoha Peter Obioma who lives in Benin Republic and Togo but comes occasionally to do business in Lagos. The efforts paid off on Saturday 7th January 2023 when Obioma walked into the waiting arms of NDLEA operatives with a bag containing additional air compressors used to conceal 15.7kgs skunk and a crystalline substance that later tested positive to methamphetamine after the Agency’s sniffer dogs identified compressors with drug concealment.

Obioma’s statement led to the unraveling of two other leaders of the cartel: Dubai-based Ugo Kelechi Alex (aka KC) and Iwueke Ugochukwu (aka Odugwu), an Onitsha, Anambra based businessman, who were at that point still enjoying the Christmas and New Year holidays in their village in Imo state. A well-coordinated operation was thereafter carried out on Tuesday 10th January at their ancestral homes in Umuobi village, Igbejere community, Ihitti-Uboma LGA, Imo State, while the arrow head of the cartel identified as Ezenwekwe Obinna Nicodemus, an automobile parts dealer at Alaba International market, Lagos was put under surveillance. A Lexus SUV and a Toyota jeep were immediately recovered from Kelechi and Iwueke.

After so many dramatic bids to evade arrest, NDLEA operatives eventually pinned Obinna down at a bar in Mazamaza, Mile 2 area of Lagos on Saturday 14th January. A search of his home led to the recovery of 607 grams of ephedrine, a handful of Cannabis weighing 20 grams as well as other paraphernalia, including 271 grams of dimethyl sulfone used as a cutting agent for ephedrine, a chemical precursor and an active ingredient for the production of methamphetamine. A weighing scale and an International passport were equally recovered from his house.

Meanwhile, no fewer than 2,601.5 kilograms of cannabis and 102,500 pills of pharmaceutical opioids were seized during interdiction operations across Plateau, Edo, Delta, Taraba, Kogi, Kano, Lagos and Adamawa state in the past week. While 309kgs of cannabis were recovered from a Bauchi-bound Toyota Camry car marked KUJ 218 BS driven by a suspect, Godwin Ojo, 37, on Saturday 28th Jan. along Bauchi road, Jos, Plateau state, 718kgs of the same substance were seized in an uncompleted building in Sabongida-Ora, Owan West LGA, Edo state.

In Delta state, at least 250.3kgs of C/S were recovered from three suspects: Wilson Ejougo, 43; Okpor Charles Chuks, 33; and Grace Isaiah, 51, in raids across Abbi town, Ndokwa West LGA, and Asaba, the state capital. A suspect, Umar Halidu, 35, was arrested with 18kgs of cannabis at Mutum Biyu, Gassol LGA, Taraba State, while the trio of Ali Abdulwahab, 48; Bashir Musa, 31, and Ibrahim Shuaibu Abdullahi, 38, were nabbed with 532kgs of the psychoactive substance in their truck in Kogi state.........
