Homosexuality is not a crime, laws criminalizing the act is "Unjust" — Pope Francis declares.

Pope Francis has said that laws criminalizing homosexual are “unjust,” because being homosexual is not a crime.

Speaking during an interview with The Associated Press on Wednesday, January 25, the Pope said God loves all his children just as they are and called on Catholic bishops who support the laws to welcome LGBTQ people into the church.

“Being homosexual isn't a crime,” Francis said during the interview, adding that, “It's not a crime. Yes, but it's a sin. Fine, but first let's distinguish between a sin and a crime.” “It's also a sin to lack charity with one another,” he added....

Emefiele Behind Delayed Release Of New Naira Notes To Banks - Says Source

Following delayed delivery of the newly redesigned Naira to commercial banks, fingers are now pointing in the direction of the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Godwin Emiefele, as being responsible as he was said to be set to release about N30 billion new redesigned currency notes to Alhaji Abubakar Atiku, the Presidential Candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the next 3 days going by their agreement.


The release is to be routed through the Managing Director of Access Bank, Mr. Roosevelt Ogbonna, in a ploy to provide financial advantage to the PDP presidential candidate following the insistence of CBN of not extending the deadline of January 31 for the exchange of old notes.


Reliable sources within the apex bank revealed that the huge sum to be released to Alhaji Atiku was responsible for the scarcity of the newly redesigned notes in commercial banks and Automated Teller Machines, ATMs of banks.

"Most of the banks don't just have the newly designed currency as the available quantity for distribution is being warehouse on the instruction of CBN governor. It is now clear where the fund is to be channelled and why there persists scarcity with less than a week to the CBN imposed deadline," the source stated.


It will be recalled that the stated goal of the redesigned currency and limitation on withdrawal was aimed at discouraging money influence on the forthcoming elections as well as promotion of cashless economy....

2023 Election: Eze Chika receives LP Gubernatorial Candidate, Gbadebo Chinedu Rhodes-Vivour as he seeks the support of Igbos in Ijegun.

Supporters in multitude gathered at the palace of Eze Chika Nwokedi to welcome and interact with the Lagos Labour Party Gubernatorial Candidate for 2023 Elections, Gbadebo Patrick Chinedu Rhodes-Vivour in Ijegun Ikotun.

Dignitaries who also attended the event includes the House of Rep. Candidate for the Ijegun constituency, The Eze of Iba, Executives and members of the Ndigbo Buruotu Association of Nigeria championed by Eze Chika Nwokedi, Ohaneze Ndigbo social cultural organization and Igbo speaking Community in Ijegun Ikotun.

The LP candidate was accompanied by his subordinates which includes : The House Of Rep. candidate for Alimosho constituency Hon. Azubuike Emmanuel , Dr. Benjamin, SAs and spoke persons... As they witness the overwhelming welcome of supporters who trooped in enmass to show solidarity for the incoming governor, Gbadebo Chinedu Rhodes-Vivour.

The visit of the LP candidate was centered around the expectations of the people towards creating a progressive Lagos by voting in a capable leader whose drive and ambition is to move Lagosians from being consumers to becoming producers thereby creating ease, a more enabling solution towards achieving abundance, peace and progress. More importantly to forestall the original cultural practices of Lagosians away from tribalism and nepotism.

Eze Chika Nwokedi, Okpoko 1, the Ezendigbo of Ijegun Ijeododo in his statements officially welcomed Gbadebo Vivour, his entourage and supporters who were all gathered at the palace. He commenced the gathering by observing traditional rights as a king by breaking the kola nuts in prayers to bless the effort and campaign of the LP candidate. The spokesperson of the Labour Party candidate, Dr. Ben also said in his speech that the people should vote for competence and capability, not a money driven politics to buy the people's conscience from what is truly right. NDLEA intercepts cocaine, skunk consignments from Brazil, Canada at Enugu, Lagos ports

Desperate efforts to bring into Nigeria 126.95 kilograms of cocaine and skunk concealed in herbal tea packs and imported vehicles by drug cartels from Brazil and Canada have again been thwarted by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, AIIA, Enugu and the Tincan seaport in Lagos.

At the Enugu airport, an Ethiopian Airline male passenger, Eze Christian Ikenna, 42, coming from Brazil via Addis Ababa, Ethiopia was intercepted on arrival at the airport at about 12:30pm on Friday 20th January. A search of his two bags revealed 19 big sachets which he claimed to contain herbal tea but were later found to be cocaine weighing 16.20 kilograms.

In the same vein, a joint examination carried out on a container marked TCLU 7799237 from Montreal, Canada at Sifax Okota Bonded Terminal by NDLEA operatives attached to Tincan Command of the Agency on Wednesday 18th January led to the discovery of 110.75kgs of cannabis Indica concealed in two of the four vehicles in the container: a 2011 Toyota Sienna and a 2011 Honda Pilot SUV....

Vikings Cult Member Killed After Greeting Rival the Wrong Way in Anambra (Photo)

A father of two has been killed after greeting a member of a rival cult group the wrong way.

According to FIJ, Nonso Okoye was killed by some cultists believed to be members of the confraternity in Anambra state.

The report added that Okoye was believed to be a member of the rival Vikings confraternity at the time of his death.

A source, who asked not to be named, told FIJ that Okoye was shot on January 8, 2023, for “imitating the greeting pattern of the confraternity” while greeting a friend.

Mother of four gruesomely murdered over alleged failed business deal in Ondo.

A mother of four, identified simply as Patience, has been gruesomely murdered by some unknown gunmen in Akure, Ondo State.

Vanguard reports that the hairdresser was murdered over an alleged failed business deal.

She was reportedly trailed to Kajola area, in the Akure metropolis, where she was attacked and killed at about 8:30pm.

A relation, who spoke with newsmen, said: “On an ill-fated day, she received a business call, and she left for the place. She drove in another person’s car to meet up with her business partner when she was attacked and killed at Kajola area.......

Pastor Peters Omoragbon has lambasted the Chairman of the National Conscience Party (NCP) Mallam Yunusa Salisu Tanko for retaining his position even as he has taken up another appointment as the spokesperson for the Labour Party.

Omoragbon while congratulating Tanko on his new appointment as the spokesperson for the Labour Party, stated that members of the party were however disturbed by the silence and inability of Mallam Tanko to tender letter of resignation as member and Chairman of NCP, hence this press release. “Suffice to mention however, that the members of the National Conscience Party (NCP) have waited patiently since October 16, 2022, for Mallam Tanko to formally relinquish his position as National Chairman of NCP and withdraw his membership in line with extant electoral laws and the constitution of the National Conscience Party to no avail, hence, my resort to formally put the Party on notice that, Mallam Yunusa Salisu Tanko cannot act as the NCP Chairman and the Spokesman for Labour Party at the same time.”

Pastor Omoragbon, who is the National Deputy Chairman, South-South of NCP, was reacting to Mallam Tanko’s Whatsapp message wherein he made it explicitly clear of his acceptance of appointment as the Spokesperson of the Labour Party.

Its first year Anniversary and Fundraising event was celebrated in style with the attendance of highly placed individuals in attendance, the "Cream de la Cream"of the society, which includes Traditional rulers, Palace Chiefs from the Palace of Truth and other notable VIPs on the 18th Dec., 2022.

There was an array of events as well as the breaking of colanut which traditionally signifies solidarity and the commencement of events, the ushering of guest, a speech from the host Eze. The inauguration of New Excos of Ohaneze Ndigbo of Amuwo Odofin chapter took place on 17th, Dec., 2022 in Lagos.

The event attracted Royals and notable persons of the Igbo descends in Amuwo Odofin. The guest present includes: The chairman of the event, Prince Nixon Okwara, Ezendigbo Amuwo-Odofin Eze Udo, Hon. Achara Maureen Chika the Vice Chairman of Amuwo-Odofin LGA, Hon. George Adeyeye Labour party House of Reps candidate, Comr. Leo Obasi,Rev. Father Ben of the Holy Family Catholic Church Festac Town, Chief Violent Obiora (Onaedo), the Public Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State, Apostle Pat Nwanze amongst Others.

The event commenced with an opening prayer by Rev. Father Ben and a presentation of traditional cola for prayers by Prince Nixon Okwara. The colanut was blessed by Royal Fathers in attendance observing customs and tradition to its fullest. The audience also recited Ohaneze National Anthem, a display of solidarity.

In the opening speech, the chairman of the occasion Prince Nixon Okwara emphasized the need for unity and peace amongst the igbos in Amuwo-Odofin.He also said there are plans underway to gt a a secretariat for the Amuwo-Odofin chapter as this will be achievable within the first quarter of 2023, he made a generous donation to support the course.



Speaking with the newly inaugurated chairman, Chief Chikwado Lawrence, he expressed gratitude over the notable igbolite attendees who had graced the occasion colourfully as he emphasized on the need for solidarity amongst amongst the Excos and members of the Amuwo-Odofin Chapter of Ohaneze. Cleric Remanded In Prison For Defrauding Church Member Of Landed Property.

The General Overseer of Greater Glory Tabernacle, located at No. 26 Afurugbin off Ijegemo Road, Ijegun area of Lagos, Prophetess Ngozi Okoye has been remanded in prison custody following a fraud scandal reported by a complainant, Church member Mrs Buchi Ejiofor who was defrauded of her property located at Ijegun Area of Lagos. Prophetess Ngozi sold the landed property without member’s signature on the deed of agreement to four other persons who happens to be members of her ministry.

The case was treated by the zone 2 command in Onikan by ASP. Jimith Josaphe with so much expertise and professional efficiency to give Mrs Ejiofor justice and total recovery of her assets and properties. An agreement was reached for a refund but Prophetess Ngozi failed on the agreement and still took inappropriate measures to escape from a refund or release of properties.

After so much warnings and time given to reach a truce between the two parties by HRH Eze Chika Nwokedi and the officer in charge of the case at Zone 2 Command Lagos, Mrs Buchi Ejoifor exhausted all patience to wait as the accused Prophetess Ngozi showed no form of interest or effort for a refund which led to a court charge.........

IGBO SPEAKING COMMUNITY IKOTUN/ IGANDO CHAPTER ON SUNDAY 11TH, MARK THEIR END OF THE YEAR PARTY, CELEBRATE ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY, CROWN GROUND MATRON AND PATRON AND GET A PLOT OF LAND

The event which witness so many activities and the presence of so many titled Igbo men and women, produced a plot of land for group.

The chairman of the Igbo speaking community, Chief Dr. Okechukwu Izuegbunam told the press how happy he is seen, that the occasion was a huge success.

Chief Dr. Okechukwu I noted that the impression he got from the concluded event is of good one and there is hope for greater progress.

The decorated ground matron, Prophetess Adaobi O Favour in her interview with the press express great joy over the decoration and said she never expected that, promised more commitment with the group and said the plot of land she gave is a sign of appreciation, that her prayer for them is that other chapters of Igbo speaking community in Lagos will learn from Ikotun/Igandu that they will grow from strength to strength. She said in full joy that she is very proud being an Igbo and prayed that in her next life she wish to come through the eastern part of Nigeria. In the the same fate the Obi of Egan Who was speechless after his decoration as patron came up to tell the press that he was not expecting the package, but he promised not let the Igbo speaking community in Ikotun Igandu down but to do more.

AMPEF is a Human Rights Group dedicated to the course of being the voice of the voiceless in the society where injustice is at play and as such, created an event to sensitize children and parents on the "Rights of a Child", "The Rights Of the People". Children are noted as the vulnerable that needs to be aware of their immediate environment, have confidence in the justice system and be educated about some areas of concerns while the people mainly adults needs to understand civil rights and responsibilities as well as shun intimidation in the course for justice.

In attendance are Royal fathers, VIPs, Police Officers, ACVPN Sensitizers and the press and members of the public namely: Eze Chika Nwokedi, The Ezendigbo of Ijegun/Ijeododo, SP Oyewole and officers of the division, the popular comedian Ajirebi kayode Olaseyinde" Pa James" of Papa Ajasco, Apostle Timgbasa, Comr. Ikechukwu amongst other dignitaries and attendees.

Earlier on, the group hosted a campaign meeting at the Isheri Police Division in Lagos with the Title " THE POLICE IS YOUR FRIEND"to further enhance community policing. This meeting was solely created to bond more with the police to curb crime and criminality, thereby getting justice for the voiceless. It is stated that community policing all around nigeria has helped in the reduction of security challenges that poses threat to the lives and free movement of the people, therefore the people needs to know that the police is assessible to a formal report of irregularities,not to be seen as unapproachable when a crime is to be reported. This welcome development had led human rights group and individuals to relate more freely with the police to solve issues arising from insecurity and criminality, violence and injustice.

Talent acceleration and a smarter Lagos. Keynote speakers Mohamed Yahya, country representative UNDP Nigeria, Abubakar Suleiman, chief executive officer at sterling Bank Plc, Sumch Tarek - managing Director BD Task Ltd (Bangladesh) and Rishon Chimboza - managing Director, Africa - Tony Blair institute for Global change.
The programme also recognised the present of Deputy governor Dr Obafemi Hamzat who represented His EXCELENCY Governor of Lagos state Babajide Sanwo-olu and he gave the keynote address.

The Deputy Governor Hamzat Obafemi who gave keynote address confirm lagos state hold the largest technology gatherings in Nigeria.
He said that Lagos state will ultimately create value through technology in Lagos. In preceding AOT events, we have been able to foster value creating contributions that have enabled a deeper and better collaborative relationship with the ecosystem. With 25,000 online and offline attendee registrations this year,vur participation has enabled this event to be one of the largest in Nigeria He said.
In continuation he stated further that continuing success of this gathering is a testament to the platform it provides to both public and private sector stakeholders to co-create and drive value in this ecosystem.   We are particularly enthused to see the growth this ecosystem has experienced over the years. According to Startup Genome, Lagos is now the number one technology startup ecosystem in Africa in terms of funds deployed. It is the number one ecosystem in terms of performance and sheer number of startups creating value. Between 2019 and 2021, over a 120% increase in Venture Capital inflow into Lagos was realized resulting in 1.5 billion dollars in VC funding in 2021 alone. We have records of over 2000 Startups creating and contributing value across Fintech, Agritech, Construction, Health and so on. All of this points to an open and enabling environment for the growth and proliferation of entrepreneurial activity within the technology ecosystem. As was witnessed during the telecommunication boom of the early 2000s, Lagos has provided the central core of business and technological development in Nigeria for decades. Most major technology and telecom firms in Nigeria are headquartered and do most of their business in Lagos. The entrepreneurial environment and the open support for technology informed this administration's increasing focus in innovation in a bid to drive value outputs for this ecosystem.   This administration's contribution is evidenced in the different implementations and initiatives contained in Lagos States' first Innovation and Technology Masterplan; a plan that was launched during the first edition of this AOT event showcase. The masterplan contains multiple strategic pillars which cascade in multiple tactical initiatives.   Since the first AOT gathering, we have ignited the Lagos State Science Research and Innovation Council, a body consisting of private and public sector professionals tasked with intervening directly in the ecosystem through funding. The result to date has seen over 60 startups receive funding of between 5,000 and 12,000 dollars in the past 2 years. This funding constituted some of the initial runway rounds for startups that have gone to raise millions of dollars in funding. LASRIC gave many of these startups their initial funding opportunities.   In deepening internet penetration, we have concluded over 2,900km of optic fibre deployment across the state. This has connected about 100 schools. We have partnered with some telcos that are using our installed fibre optic ducts to power their 5G based stations. As you well know MTN launched its 5G service this year. The ducts we have installed has further enabled significant de-risking of this telco infrastructure market.   In the past 1 year, Lagos has attracted over 1 billion dollars in Data centre investment. This will enable the local domicile of digital platforms as well as open our State for more digital technology opportunities. The proliferation of these investments also presents opportunities for talent development within this ecosystem.   Our Smart City implementation has seen us deploy over 600 Smart Intelligent Video Surveillance Cameras as well as Intelligent Transportation Cameras for Traffic monitoring and management. Over the past year, through our initial ITS pilot deployment leveraging our Automatic number plate recognition cameras, monitoring of violation infractions has reduced VIO in person enforcement by 30%. Basically, in person enforcement that usually leads to issues with officers has reduced. This implementation continues.   We have begun a significant identity management program through our Lagos State Residents Registration Agency that will seek to identify all our inhabitants. Current projections state that Lagos will have 30million inhabitants by 2035. It is imperative to drive the identity management ecosystem for a smarter city. This will lend to more efficient resource allocation and planning for the state. LASSRA has undergone a fundamental restructuring of its operational model. With a new digital identification card with capabilities that enable access to benefits, electronic ticketing and so on, it further drives the digital inclusion benchmark for Lagos. Currently about 6.5 million residents have been captured. We are targeting another 10million within the next year   In education, through the Eko Excel Project, we are digitizing the learning experience for both teachers and students. Through the introduction of smart devices and experiences. The EkoExcel projects seeks to raise learning outcomes in students by multiple percentage points. Currently the ministry of Education is running new Comprehensive School Curriculum in about 100 schools. The Curriculum contains new subjects such as digital courses in coding and robotics, This is with the aim to drive more industry standard learning experiences from a younger age.   Through our Lagos State Employment Trust fund, we have funded the digital skills training interventions for more than 4000 beneficiaries. Courses include digital marketing, coding and other innovation courses. These digital skills training are needed capacity interventions that lend positively to the development of the ecosystem.   Ladies and gentlemen, the aforementioned initiatives and many more are testament to the increasing support and enablement from this administration of the ecosystem for greater economic value.   However, we must recognize and acknowledge the existential challenges the ecosystem faces. Today's theme deals with the fundamental issue underpinning the development of our value creating ecosystem, the talent shortage. Nigeria graduates about 70% less STEM graduates than OECD countries. Out of the STEM students that are graduated, about 2 in 4 migrate to environments with better infrastructure and opportunities to suite their talents.     Today we hope to once again co-create the strategies and tactical initiatives that will deepen talent output and development in this sector. The talent challenges are global, it is especially acute in developing nations. We hope that today and tomorrow will contribute to a turning point in the talent conversation in our environment.
In final note Mr Olatunbosun Alake special on innovation and technology said that three up to five engineer always having it in mind to migrate and not thinking of solution but today is about finding solutions and alternative terms that high and quoting one of the speaker said that he does not see japa as an issuerather is an opportunity to export talent.

Anniversary: Rhema Deliverance Mission Celebrates 22yrs Of God's Grace, Peter Obi Attends(VIDEO).

Rhema Deliverance Mission, Southwest had its 22nd year Anniversary on 4th December 2022 at the Church Cathedral in Lagos. Very significant this year is the presence of Peter Obi , Labour Party presidential candidate for 2023.

Speaking with Bishop Dr.Anene Nwachukwu, the Bishop and General Overseer of the Rhema Deliverance Mission, he noted that for the past 22 years , God has been so faithful to Rhema Ministries. He said the ministry started from a very humble beginning and gradually progressed to a now glorious assembly of worshippers with massive structures and members all over nigeria and in diaspora.


While recounting the achievements of the church so far in its 22years of existence, Dr. Anene said God had manifested grace and power in diverse ways, God used his servant to liberate and touch many lives, the barren has conceived, the sick has been healed through the ministry, and people are liberated to possess their possession, destinies are restored, 22 years of decongesting hell and bringing people into the kingdom of God that's what we are doing, he noted.

Dr. Anene further stated that Rhema Ministries invited his Excellency, Peter Obi because he is a family friend ,a brother and as a former governor of Anambra my state.

Dr. Anene Nwachukwu said:

"As people may have in mind, Peter Obi's visit is not for the purpose of campaign, he came to grace the occasion as he used to do when he was governor of anambra state for 8yrs and had always attended Rhema Functions, so this time around I deemed it fit to invite him to our event and Annual Thanksgiving and he came as usual.

To the glory of God, Peter Obi blessed us through words of encouragement as the church prayed for his ambition, it is our duty to pray for our leaders as well as any aspirant that comes to Rhema to seek for prayers, we gladly pray for them, we are open to all, our duty as a church is to pray that God Almighty will give us good leaders come 2023.

As it is, Peter Obi and Tinubu are both good candidates, we say a Hausa/Fulani man cannot rule for 8yrs and another of same tribe is coming to rule again. Tinubu and Obi are good candidates."


Dr. Anene told the press present that as a church, the headquarters and permanent site is located in Lagos, a cathedral arm of this magnitude. He also revealed that there are other branches in South west states as well as Abeokuta, Ibadan, Oshogbo and still expanding extensively all over Nigeria and worldwide believing God for the salvation of more souls to Christ.

"My Philanthropic Act Is Not Because I Have Too much, I Just Give Cheerfully" - Eze Chika Nwokedi Says As He Gifts, Empowers Over 70 Widows.

Over 70 Widows from all over Lagos and its environs had a fun filled day full of charitable support from HRM Chika Nwokedi on the 1st December, 2022 as he blesses them with food items, cash gift as well as empowerment funds.

This is a philanthropic act by Eze Chika Nwokedi on a regular basis even before he assumed kingship. As a cheerful giver he had over time attracted people of all races and tribe to be beneficiaries of his charitable act, he says"My act of giving is not because I have too much but I want to give according to my conscience".

The end of the year support for the widows is a wrap up of event which attracted VIP guest whom graced the occasion gladly to support the essence of the event. These special guest includes: Bishop Anene Nwachukwu Of Rhema Ministries, Chief Sunday Ude, Chief Sunday Eze, Rev Annie Okonkwo, High Chief Wahab Isiaka of Odua People's Congress, High Chief Sunny Akpoyibo, Cabinet Chiefs and Members of Ijegun/Ijeododo palace, amongst other guest.

The program commenced with a prayer session which involves breaking of colanut by corresponding title men and traditionalist presence to offer prayers to God for creating food and good life for the widows.

Eze Chika gave an expressive speech in narration of how he progressed from grass to grace through the act of giving and as such should be emulated as there is a reward when people engage
in the act of philanthropy. Expressed how he would love for people who really have this financial ease to help those who cannot find their feet. "The act of giving has really brought me luck, there is blessing in giving" he quipped.


He also advises widows to keep faith in God, says God can use anyone to bless the widows but they shouldn't be deceived by so called arranged pastors who will just be out to suck out what's left of them. As such, the widows should be wary of deceitful pity-party sympathisers.

The second in command of the Oodua Peoples Congress in western Nigeria, High Chief Wahab Isiaka also gave a short speech in accolade to the philanthropic prowess of Eze Chika. He said HRH Chika doesn't discriminate, he takes all as one and as such Chief Wahab said he has learnt a lesson that "when you are in Rome you should behave like a Roman", what he is doing today is a challenge to the yoruba tribe, let's emulate him even in Yoruba land, he has been doing this for long time now, he is a man of timber and calibal, anytime you visit him he will always have a gift for you not minding if you can afford it or not" Wahab stated.

High Chief Wahab also expressed appreciation to Lolo Pst Dr. Tessy Nwokedi, wife to Eze Chika for being beside her husband to support and care for people, he calls her a rare gem for being a supportive pillar.

Eze Chika Nwokedi, the host of the widows end of the year event also gave gratitude to all who has been supportive in actualising the event , he Introduced all who has been supportive to the course of the widows as well as awarded his supportive aids with an award. January 2023: All Is Set For "Ifunanya Age Grade" Outing In Umuchu, Anambra.

All is now set for the outing ceremony (Iputa Ogbo) of Ifunanya Age Grade in Ibughubu village, Umuchu town in Aguata Local Governments of Anambra State, on 5th January 2023.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the Chief Special Guest of Honour will be the People’s Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo and his entourage.

Other top special guests include the Interim Chairman of Aguata Local Government Area, Prince (Dr) Chibueze Ofobuike, the highly reverend Umuchu traditional ruler HRM, Igwe Godson O. Ezechukwu and the President General of Umuchu town union, Sir Charles Ezenwabasili.



The epoch making event will be held at St Andrew’s Anglican Church in Ibughubu Umuchu under the distinguished Chairmanship of Sir Engr. Benchucks Amarube while the traditional head of Ibughubu community, Chief Benneth Ikebu and Ogbuehi Leonard Chinabu will be the Royal Father and the Father of the day respectively.

 The Chairman of Ibughubu community, Hon.Ifeanyi Emegwa (Equity), is the Chief Host of the unprecedented great event in the history of Ibughubu Umuchu community.

The event will be spiced with a lecture, with the theme of the lecture of the day as “the importance of age grade in Igbo society”,  which will be handled by a resource person, Ezendigbo in South Africa, Eze Martins Emechebe (Akuenwebe).

This was disclosed to P.M.EXPRESS by the Chairman of Ifunanya age grade, Ogbuehi Calistus Ebeagwu, who confirmed that every arrangement has been made in preparation for the event, which will mark the beginning of another age grade in the community

Ogbuehi Ebeagwu explained that the Ifunanya age grade outing will be a historic event because age grades in their community had not been functioning before they decided to revive it.

He noted that the Ifunanya age grade outing will be the first of its kind in the history of their community because none of the past moribund age grades in the community had come out as they have planned it.




“We are celebrating the three Primary Schools in our community  because 90 percent of our people came out from those schools.  We have so many Professors, Doctors,  Lawyers, Reverend Fathers and Sisters, Pastors, Bankers, Engineers, Journalists etc, that passed through these schools and it is time to give back to our community” he said.

Ogbuehi Ebeagwu further stated that they decided to celebrate those schools and will be presenting desks, exercise books, and sign posts to the three major Primary Schools, which gave many of them educational foundation.




According to him, the Ifunanya Age Grade decided to take the bull by horn after several years because It is not good to hear that men and women, who are supposed to be retiring are just coming out as a new age grade. They decided to do it not only to revive age grades in the community but to also set the pace for community development through age grades in Ibughubu.

He emphasized the significance of age grades in the Igbo society, which he described as a viable tool for community development and the Ifunanya age grade has therefore, decided to set the pace for community development in Ibughubu Umuchu.

On that very day, he hinted that the age grade will donate school chairs and exercise books to three major Primary Schools in Ibughubu including sign posts, which will be mounted at the boundary areas in Ibughubu Umuchu.

Ogbuehi Ebeagwu stated that Ifunanya age grade has other plans to contribute immensely to the welfare of the community in the future and that is why the group will be launching and soliciting for support for N7m towards the construction of public convenience in their market, which they hope to complete and commission by December 2023.

Also speaking on the event, the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Ogbuehi Cyriacus Obiakor, stated that the event is carefully being planned to motivate other age grades in the community in order to start their own. And that when they have different age grades, there will be competition among the age grades, which will hasten development in the community.




He said there has been different arrangements for the event, which includes display of various Igbo traditional dances and local foods targeted to make the event remarkable. He also explained that awards will be given to distinguished sons and daughters, who have contributed in various ways towards community development including commissioning of Patrons and Patroness alongside the unveiling of Ifunanya Age Grade Mayor.

Yahoo boy arrested for beating his girlfriend to death, she refused to relinquish the money his ‘client’ paid into her account in Ogun

Police operatives in Ogun State have arrested a suspected yahoo boy, Obeta John, 27, for allegedly killing his girlfriend, Idowu Buhari, in Eredu Ishara area of the state.

NIGERIAN STARTUP ACT 2022: LASG AT EKO INNOVATION CENTRE DOMESTICATES POLICIES THROUGH KITE PROJECT

 
The Nigerian Startup Act (NSA2022) defines Nigerian startups, their scope, operations, incentives, and limits to attract foreign investment and open up the Nigerian tech industry. A startup, according to the Act, is "a firm that has been in operation for no more than ten (10) years and whose aims include the invention, innovation, production, development, or adoption of a new digital technology creative product, service, or method." Interpretatively, the act aims to provide a legal and institutional framework for Nigerian startups, as well as an enabling environment for their establishment, development, and operation.

  The Lagos State Government has organized a policy review workshop in an effort to implement the Act's policies for the state's growth
The workshop, which was held on Friday, October 11, 2022, at Eko Innovation Centre, brought together startup founders, tech experts, innovators, and enthusiasts to join the state government in domesticating the policies in the Nigerian Startup Act. The event led to the establishment of Knowledge, Innovation, Technology, and Entrepreneurship (KITE) Project which will equitably localise the Act.  

The KITE project is expected to significantly contribute to Nigeria's economic development and position Lagos State as the hub for innovation in Nigeria. Also, as the state is becoming a popular location for technology investors and entrepreneurs, it will enable the state to further push its technology and innovation agenda. It will begin in Yaba, which will serve as a medium for the government and private sector to create an ICT cluster. Yaba is known as the bedrock of internet-enabled businesses, with over 60 startups and active venture capital firms in residence. It is also a thriving centre for innovation in Nigeria.   By 2030, the Yaba KITE cluster is expected to be Africa's main source of transformational solutions, propelling the continent's socio-economic progress via technological leadership, disruptive innovation, and high-quality stem talent. Access to financing, advocacy and marketing, research and development, network and cooperation, talent, skills, education, infrastructure, policy, regulation, and governance are also goals of the KITE initiative.   According to the workshop anchor, Mr Wale Adelaja, the workshop was organised to allow the private sector and government agencies to review the policies established in the KITE project. "For an ICT business, cluster, or ecosystem to be sustainable, policies to support its longevity are required."He said.    
Hon. Olanrewaju Suleiman Afinni, Head of the House Committee on Science and Technology, at the event, urged the private sector stakeholders to look over the law and make it as complete as possible so that it doesn't need to be changed often.


On her part, Tracy Okoro, one the private stakeholders who championed the Nigeria start-up act movement , acknowledged that the NSA 2022 is the result of people desire for change and it's succeeded because a group young people came together to champion the move .


Her words," we have a volunteer group of 800 people who drove this from beginning to end without demanding payment.
The act is significant for connecting the government with business sector."
Tunbosun Alake (Special adviser to Lagos State Governor on Innovation and Technology)   Startup founders, innovators, and other workshop attendees participated in a break-out session to share their thoughts on the policies discussed as a government representative listened in and took notes and feedback.   The session was
interactive, as the workshop served as a forum for attendees to voice concerns and receive answers to pressing issues.


Lagos' startup policy structure has been in development for some time before the Act.


The regulations will assist startups in registering quicker, obtaining permits faster, and easing business for commercial organisations classified as startups. "It is critical for entrepreneurs in the ecosystem to participate in the workshop review to have an impact on the state legislation being drafted. The KITE project is like Silicon Valley in that it will be a state-wide initiative that will create ICT clusters, which will promote innovation throughout the state and benefit the nation's economy," Alake enthused.

Popular Gospel Singer, Sammy Okposo is Dead.

Popular Gospel Singer, Sammie Okposo is dead. The music producer slumped on Friday morning and died shortly after. He was aged 51.

Okposo made headlines early in the year after he publicly apologized to his wife, Ozioma for cheating on her with another lady in the United States.

In the apology which was shared on his Instagram page, the singer lamented over the incident which he noted happened in 2021.

DSS Withdraws Suit Against Ex-Terrorists’ Negotiator, Tukur Mamu.

The Department of State Services (DSS), on Thursday, withdrew a suit filed at a Federal High Court, Abuja to detain the former terrorists’ negotiator, Tukur Mamu, for 60 more days after his arrest.

DSS’ counsel, A.M. Danlami, told Justice Nkeonye Maha shortly after the matter was called for hearing.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the suit, marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/1619/2022 between SSS and Tukur Mamu, was listed for further proceedings on the day’s cause list.

Upon resumed hearing, Danlami, who sought to withdraw the case, said that the matter has been overtaken by event.

Microbiologist arrested for torturing her 11-yr-old maid to de@th in Jos

Police operatives in Jos, Plateau State have arrested one Mrs. Nneamaka Nwachuku, a microbiologist with one of the research institutes in Vom area of the state, for allegedly torturing her 11-year-old maid to de@th.

It was gathered that the Kebbi State-born victim, identified as Margaret Joshua, was fleeing from insecurity in her community before some supposed helper brought her to Jos to serve in the Nwachukwu’s home.

An independent Automobile Dealersshop with specialties in: CUSTOMISED LUXURY VEHICLE, BALLISTIC ARMORRING VEHICLE, Full Operations of Mechanical & Autobody colusion services centered in Orlando Florida U.S.A.

Mr Balogun also has a passion for Giving and making a big difference in people's life. This is what gave birth to TMG Foundation, where he focuses on the Less-Privileged kids and Orphans.

Over Three(3) years now, the Educational activities of TMG Foundation has included so far: play host to series of Christmas parties for all Primary school pupils yearly in Erusu Akoko, Ondo state, equipping kids with school stationeries like note books, pens, sport wears and also organises After-School Lessons for many kids across the town. TMG Foundation embarks also on Electrification Project in community service like Solar Street Light Program in Erusu-Akoko.

Mr.Balogun has sponsored over fifteen (15)graduates and have got them employed in both Private sector's and at Federal level services, with many students still on the scholarship programe list, annually.
