Earlier in the programme, the President of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN), Idorenyen Enang while delivering his keynote address at

about integrated marketing communication, adding that innovators require to
follow laid-down principles of marketing.

The participants were split into teams of 5 and were required to work together
for 3 weeks, brainstorm, and come up with new concepts based on their

interaction, trade and retail engagement, analytics and metrics, events
marketing, media monetization, and content creation.
Each team pitched their ideas to a respected Jury of experts in the subject
matter, and the best 10 teams were picked by the Jurors before only five
emerged winners at the grand finale. Overall, the hackathon had 21 Mentors,
30 Selection Jurors, 8 Speakers, and 8 Final Jurors who partook in the event
and are the industry’s best with decades of experience in marketing, media, technology, and business management and others.

Fresh from prison, Brazilian returnee rumbled at P/H airport for importing cocaine

. As NDLEA uncovers 4.56kg crack in lawn mowers’ tyres; seizes tons of Tramadol, Codeine in Zamfara, Kogi, Kaduna, Kano

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have intercepted 24 parcels of cocaine concealed in 12 tyres of lawn mowers imported into the country through the Port Harcourt International Airport, PHIA by a Brazilian returnee, Okechukwu Francis Amaechi, who has just finished serving his jail term for drug trafficking in the South American country.

The 45-year-old ex-convict from Idemili South LGA, Anambra State was arrested at the Port Harcourt airport on Saturday 7th May upon his arrival from Brazil via Doha onboard Qatar Airline flight QR1433.
Preliminary investigations revealed Okechukwu who was arrested and convicted in Brazil for drug offences completed serving his jail sentence in March 2022, after which he decided to return to Nigeria with three new lawn mowers where he concealed 24 parcels of cocaine weighing 4.56kg.

Cleric Murdered Lady Of 25, Split Body In Parts And Dumped In A Flowing Stream.

Police operatives have unraveled how a cleric, Abass Tiamiyu, murdered a 25-year old lady, Barajas Belahu, who went to him for spiritual assistance, cut her body in parts, stuffed it inside a sack and then dumped it by the stream.

Reports has it that the incident happened between 10th and 11th May, 2022, at Oyetoro Community, Oroki area of Oyo State, where they reside.
However, the dastardly act got exposed and the Police operatives from Oyo State Command arrested Tiamiyu and detained him for interrogation.

Hemp seller slashes girlfriend’s throat, rants about being untouchable(VIDEO)

A hemp seller, identified simply as Toba, has allegedly slit the throat of his girlfriend, Tunrayo Odubanjo, and dumped her corpse in a bush in Kara-Kekere community, Ogunrun, Mowe, in the Obafemi Owode area of Ogun State.


It was gathered that Toba and his girlfriend were at his residence when he sent her to get an alcoholic drink on Wednesday.
The victim was said to have worn his slippers to the place.

NDLEA Nabs Wanted Drug Baroness in Delta, Seals Palatial Mansion, Her Drugs Bunks for Trading/Accommodation of Users.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA has arrested a wanted 59-year-old drug baroness, Bridget Oghenekevwe Emeka aka MAMA said to be the backbone of a major cartel distributing drugs in Delta and adjourning states.

Her cover was broken on Sunday 15th May following her arrest by operatives, at her palatial mansion where she cooks and distributes Crack Cocaine, Methamphetamine and other illicit substances.

A statement by Femi Babafemi, Spokesman of NDLEA said, “No fewer than nine of her staff and associates were arrested along with her in coordinated simultaneous operations at her expansive residence and drug bunks where she accommodates drug users and sells illicit substances to them and others in parts of Warri, Delta state”.

A video of some  women from Imo state who are alleging that younger ladies are “snatching” their husbands with indecent dressing has surfaced on social media.

Reports has it that the women in the viral video captured women singing in Igbo language, on the streets held up banners which captured their grievances.
The women who number up to twenty imposed fines against younger ladies who wear indecent outfits, adding that should they fail to pay the fine, they will have them to contend with.

A huge explosion has occurred in the Sabon Garri area of Kano state with an unspecified number of person feared killed and wounded.
The blast which went off at about 9am, occurred near Winners primary school along Court Road by Aba Road, with many children affected.

Two Nigerian technology start-ups, Paddy Cover and Pricepally.com have the Dubai World Trade Centre’s $200,000 Lagos talent show, while TruQ emerged the EIC and Lagos State winner.
The insuretech firm, Paddy Cover, co-founded by Mayowa Owolabi and Tobi Obasa, and the food sourcing and distribution tech firm, Pricepally, owned by Luther Lawoyin, as well as TruQ, owned by Williams Fatayo, beat 24 other
contestants who pitched their ideas before six judges.

The two winners will go on an all-expense-paid trip to Dubai to pitch their idea to over 400 investors and thousands of technology ecosystem players at the GITEX 2022 exhibition for a chance to win $200,000.

They all will converge at the Dubai World Trade Centre in Dubai, the United
Arab Emirates (UAE) in October for the five-day business show, mentorship,
and networking with world technology business leaders.

The Gulf Information Technology Exhibition (GITEX) is an annual consumer computer and electronics trade show exhibition and conference that takes
place at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
GITEX is one of the world’s most influential meeting places for the technology industry bringing together thought leaders, creators, innovators, and so on.

The Africa roadshow is organized by GITEX Global and sponsored by Dubai
North Star, which represents the UAE Government, and partnered locally by
the Lagos State Government and the National Information Technology
Development Agency (NITDA).

The judges at the event were: Akeem Hassan, TA to the special adviser to the
Governor on Innovation and Technology, Segun Cole, Co-founder Fund the
Gap Alliance, Amos Udok, Representative NITDA, Ireayo Oladunjoye, Head, Startups Lagos state employment Trust fund, Oguntade Adeseye, Unit head, innovation and Entrepreneurship ONDI, and Olorunnisomo Olaoluwa Co-
Founder, Seedbuilders Innovation and Foundation.

Addressing journalists at Eko Innovation Center, the Director-General (DG) of
the Nigeria Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) Mallam
Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi has pledged not to relent in giving support to young
Nigerians with start-ups in various forms to catalyze the entire eco-system
towards building a digital economy.
Mallam Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi made this revelation on Thursday at the Eko
Innovation Centre, Lagos through his Head of Corporate Planning & Strategy,
Dr. Aristotle Onumo who represented him at the one-day pitching by no less
than 27 start-ups.

“As regards this particular program, the North Star is trying to take advantage
of the program to expose our start-ups, while NITDA is partnering with GITEX.
“What is happening now will happen in Dubai, but the Dubai World Trade
Centre and the Dubai Government are represented here today.


They have come to Nigeria to be able to harness the innovative skills already
within Nigeria to start early marketing of the two to be selected and connecting them with various investors across the globe so that even before they get to GITEX proper, they would have had a kind of visibility.”

Similarly, the Special Adviser to Lagos State Governor on Innovation and
Technology, Tumbosun Alake, said “the initiative is “to give opportunities to our
ecosystem start-ups with better access to local and foreign markets.
“At the same time, Dubai and GITEX are keen to be part of the start-up
ecosystem in Lagos.

“This initiative is for us to explore opportunities together, so the finalists will be participating in the North Star program in Dubai in October, and we hope they are able to get more international investors and access to the UAE market.”
According to him, “the number one objective is to grow our ecosystem,” and
“in terms of accelerating the state as a tech hub, it gives us more recognition
globally because of our partners in the UAE.

“If the UAE is here, it is a signal to other partners across the globe. It also helps
our start-ups here to get access to their market internationally and with that,
they can expand their revenue base.
Explaining the Africa roadshow, the Director, Commercial Events
Management, Dubai World Trade Centre, Zarko Ackovik, said the organizers
“recognize that Nigeria obviously has the largest ecosystem in the whole of
Africa.”

However, “we don’t see too much of African and Nigerian start-ups coming up for expansion, so instead of just sitting there, we decided to come to the
region to offer the opportunity for the start-ups.

“The show brings them the opportunity to network, to go into competition, the
$200,000 cash prize money, and the opportunity to take their start-ups there.
“It is not only just to compete and meet investors but also the exposure comes
with a lot of the big media as well, and they create partnerships and networks
because the show brings 700 start-ups from over 60 countries, and investors
coming from all over the world as well.
Also speaking, Akande Ojo of the United States-based Pinnacle International
Consulting – country representative of Dubai World Trade Centre, explained that they have decided on an African focus, and a Nigerian focus going forward.

“A winner gets accommodation, space as a start-up to showcase yourself, they
engage with investors, because technically you are part of their program,” he noted.


“This is the first time we are dealing with them to ensure that they can bring
the event close to sub-Saharan Africa – Nigeria, Ghana, Rwanda, amongothers,” he disclosed.

“The idea is that many of our start-ups are talented but they don’t have that
bridge to connect with, because they don’t have the resources.
“So, they bring it close to you, we try to see the real talent, so the only thing it
costs you is your car fare to come here, not flying to Dubai.

“Eventually they will pick the top two each from Lagos and Abuja to be fully
sponsored, and the rest of the Lagos Government initiative – the Eko
Innovation Centre, and NITDA can also support.

“The idea is just to allow more tech-preneuers to create more jobs and in return increase the foreign direct investment.”

Polytechnic Lecturers To Commence Nationwide Strike.

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) has announced a plan to embark on an industrial strike. The academic union in a statement obtained by newsmen said the nationwide shut down of Polytechnics will begin May 11, 2022.

MORE recalls that ASUP National President, Anderson Umezurike Ezeibe, had hinted about the industrial action in early February this year. Ezeibe who was addressing members of the union at Hussain Adamu Federal Polytechnic, Kazaure, said the union had called off its strike on June 10th, 2021 based on agreements it reached with the Federal Government.

BREAKING: 2023: Orji Kalu pulls out from presidential race, gives reason.


Chief Whip of the House of Senate, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has announced decision to withdraw from the 2023 presidential race.

The Lawmaker who was an aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC stated this in a statement he personally signed on Monday.

He explained that his decision followed inability of the two major political parties to zone their ticket to the South East for justice and fairness.
