quote author=olawalepopoola post=89528572]That was the day Nigerians will never forget.
Obasanjo was to be executed the following day June 6, 1998.
On that day, Nigerian masses celebrated total freedom from the shackles of the high authoritarian Sanni Abacha.
Nigerians: Christians, moslems, traditional believers and atheist flooded the streets of Nigeria, hugged themselves and popped champagne to celebrate the victory.

It was BBC that broke that great news at 4:00 pm Nigerian time.
Obasanjo and Diya got their freedom
Surely you are not married,so in your mind a husband would write offically to his wife informing her that his family members want to visit.atlist she was notified and in some cases even the husband self no dey get notice.the fact remains if it was the wifes mother the wife wouldnt have a problem with it but once it is the husbands family most women behaving like evils spirit.i can remember a day when my wife came to me to tell me that her pastor said my mother was a witch,i am not an abusive man but she got what was coming,i told her that she should pass it on to her pastor and that would be the last sunday she would attend that church or pack out.it is the same, she feels everything in the house should be given to her family like they own it but your family shouldnt even come around.it is like they are on assignment to liquidate you for there family.

You're right Nigerians like you hate yourself. You foolidhly defend stupid economic policies thst dont benefit you. Nigeria is an exporting nation. The import ban list makes doing business more expensive and it doesn't address the fundamental issue of domestic productivity. Cement for example is more expensive in Nigeria than in other countries resulting in higher cost of construction in plsve with massive housing deficit.

Nigeria wants banks to lend out more cash then in same breath complain about inflation. If you let naira settle to actual rate you would actually import less. The CBN is clearly making contradictory policies. The ERGP failed but you dont want to talk about that. It's the IMF you ran to that's your issue.
GREAT FOR WHO?EXPORTING COUNTRIES RIGHT.NIGERIANS AND SELF HATE

Blue3k:
These changes would be great but they wont do it. Buhari's economic policies have proven to be failures. Nigeria consistently had low growth and high rates of unemployment every quarter. The central bank policy was contradictory on its face. You want strong currency that encourages imports. Then you ban goods arbitrarily because you save forex to create jobs.

Lol people will foolishly argue the IMF is turning them into slaves like they forced them take money. Everyone knows the IMF is the lend of last resort. If the country fixed it's economy itself you wouldn't be running cap in hand.

PoliticsRe: Investigate Concerned Nigerians’ Deji Adeyanju Now – CAFA by onoja12: 2:13pm On Apr 12, 2020
Stop tribalism,Nigeria is for us all,the security agency is for fighting security issues not the truth.the security agency have killed more than 10 person in the enforcement process, this is a fact.

quote author=aguele post=88359377]Citizens Against Fake Activists (CAFA) is appalled by the tenuous lies being peddled by one troll factory under the auspices of Concerned Nigerians (CN) and its convener, Deji Adeyanju, who has now been proven to be working with interests that want to jeopardize Nigeria’s ability to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country. It is important that the relevant security agencies immediately investigate him.

In a pattern that has become synonymous with him, Adeyanju again deployed fake news to the effect that law enforcement agents have killed more Nigerians in the course of enforcing the stay at home directive than the virus has killed. CAFA is concerned that this kind of irresponsible behavior will encourage gullible people to flout the lockdown directive and thereby encourage the spread of the disease.

The impression created by Adeyanju in his misleading statement was that a few people that chose to disregard the stay at home order are entitled to compromise the safety of others by engaging in acts that will speed up the spread of the killer virus. There is ample science backed data to show that countries that took social isolation seriously recorded comparatively lower cases while those whose citizens misconstrued the concept of civil liberties to disregard government-imposed lockdown are today paying the price by way of a disproportionately high human toll.

CAFA therefore categorically dismisses Adeyanju’s allegations against the security and military agencies as patent falsehood intended to blackmail the military, the police and President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration like he has been paid to do and consistent with his obsession with demonizing the aforementioned. The only verified instance of killing, which took place in Delta state, is being investigated by the appropriate authorities while the other instances mentioned by the paid activist have been investigated and discarded.

Nigerians should recall that CAFA had raised the alarm over an increase in the deliberate attempts by crisis entrepreneurs and political merchants of war masquerading as activists to cause discontent in the country. Their sole aim is to discredit the Buhari led administration and it is now apparent that they do not care if they expose millions of Nigerians to the deadly COVID-19 with their irresponsible acts.

Adeyanju, like his fellow paid activists, has the right to make a living off paid activism as he did in the past including openly supporting the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), a group that a competent court properly designated as a terrorist organization. He perfected the act of creating phantom casualties for when his clients protest, including the protests in which he arranged thugs to attack himself so that he can blame the government for deploying excessive force against him. But Adeyanju should have by now realize that COVID-19 is a threat to humanity and it is not his call to encourage people to disregard the government ordered lockdown and social distancing necessary for dealing with the pandemic.

CAFA calls on the security agencies to thoroughly investigate Adeyanju over the inciteful nature of the lies he is telling to make people flout the stay at home order. It is important to address the trouble being fomented by Adeyanju and nip it in the bud. He should not be allowed to create the impression that the government, military and security agencies are the enemies when in reality COVID-19 is the enemy. Authorities must also note that Adeyanju’s attempt at incitement is like a pilot or testing the waters for his circuit of paid activists to know how the government will respond to such criminality. Where they sense a tepid response to Adeyanju’s lies they will then escalate the incitement until it leads to social unrest that they are hoping will bring the government down.

Meanwhile, since Adeyanju’s statement is based, in part, on the lie that people “could no longer bear the brunt of the stay-at-home order by the government,” CAFA is appealing to Nigerians to take advantage of the various palliatives being provided by the government, organizations, religious bodies and well spirited individuals. There is a place for being positively proud but there is also the time for the humility to accept help as people the world over have been compelled to do since this virus shut down economies and unleash hardship on populations.

quote author=properties4sale post=88358211]*Update from China on the Nigerian eviction feud.*

My brother, there's nothing much that happened.  I don't need to ask you what you heard because about 20 people have asked me about this. All my customers, my relatives, my friends have all asked me this question, so I know you want to ask me about chasing black people out of their homes and out of the hotels.

You know how our people behave. Once they hear stories, they add their own, mix it with yam, and add ugba to make it more beautiful. I just got home from work and just got out of the shower. So about the video you watched, the story you heard happened in Guangzhou

*Before the borders were closed and flights were stopped from coming in, some of our people had come to buy goods.  The Chinese asked them self-isolate. That took them to a hotel because they told all the hotels not to allow foreigners. The cops are the ones who will pick you up, check you out and put you up in a hotel. They will check you every morning, test your temperature to see if you have any symptoms. After 14 days they release you so you can do your business.

*But 3 to 4 days before that 14 days was over, they discovered that three of our people had the symptoms. Eventually, they found out that 2 (of the 3) people had malaria or typhoid or something, but one person had coronavirus. They wanted to treat the one that had it, but he refused and said they wanted to inject him with the virus and kill him. They told him they didn't want to do that but just wanted to treat him like they also treated their people, but he refused.  Instead, he fought those medical workers, and I don't know if they said he hit one of them in the eye or somewhere. But you know white people's body, the person got a bruise or a black eye, and the locals got angry about that when they heard the story. Because of that, even the chairman of the Nigerian community in China got involved and begged the man to calm down and get treated. The Chinese said that after treating him, he would be deported and they agreed.

*Because of this, they started monitoring the blacks to check for the symptoms. They went to places that black people ate. They found a Nigerian guy called Emma, who was married to a Chinese woman.  The woman cooks food and people had been eating there for weeks. They found out that the woman went to her village and came back with the virus. The woman didn't self isolate for 14 days but started cooking for people. They also found out that it was mostly black people who patronised the woman. So they shut down everywhere that had predominantly black people in Guangzhou.

*All these things happened in Guangzhou, but people made it sound like it was happening in the whole of China. Anyway, they shut down everywhere the blacks eat in Guangzhou. They rationalised that if it was black people who patronised the woman, and she had been serving them for days, some black people would have contracted the virus from the woman. Because of that, they asked those people who had been in isolation to remain indoors until they sort out the issue with this woman and the people she came in contact with.*

*They got health workers to move from house to house to check people and run some tests. They do the tests, ask you to wait for 24 hours, and after 24 hours if you test negative, they give you a card to be able to go out. Now that card is what you would use to go to the markets and different places. So these people were asked to stay indoors until the tests had been done for everybody so that they could figure out those who had it and those who didn't have it, but they refused. They said they had been isolated for 14 days, so why should they be asked to stay inside. They all defied the orders and went out. Now the law that was given to all the hotels was not to allow any foreigners in except for one hotel. That one Hotel was also instructed not to let anybody out or in. But you know how our people behave, they all gathered, making noise and all went out together. When they wanted to go into the markets, they were asked to show their cards because the locals had been told to always ask for cards to know those who had been tested. So when they didn't show their cards, they were not allowed into the markets, and when they got back to the hotel, the management refused to let them in because that was the instruction by the police. Then they started the story that Igbo people were being chased out of their apartments and hotels and asked to go home. That's the story now.*

Nothing else happened but what I have just told you. People see the video and start screaming "look how they are throwing Igbo people and black people out" but you were asked to stay indoors so they can sort things out. They are trying to solve this problem so the virus can be under control before they let people in.

For those of us here, we were isolated, tested and issued our cards before we were able to move around. But people coming in want to move around without testing, and it's not good for the people who are already in there. That's what they were trying to sort out, but our people didn't understand this, and it caused problems after they defied the instructions, saying they were not allowed to go inside.

Then for those who left their homes, they would go to those homes check to see if they were home and if they weren't they locked up the house because everyone was asked to stay at home so they can check you and test. So when they get there and you not at home, where did you go to? Everyone was asked to stay at home, and when you defy, and they lock your home, then you come out and say you were thrown out of your home.

When they asked us to stay indoors, I stayed in for a month and two weeks. I didn't step out. Today no one has evicted me from my house, and no one has asked me not to come in. Even when I resumed my trading business, I did that for one month, and they called me again, gave me test kits that I had to use every day to check myself for 14 days. I did that and showed them the results.

Follow the rules so things will be easy for you, but you think they're trying to cheat you. So anybody telling you anything, ignore them. Lots of (fake) news out there.

Dishonesty is the Nigerian norm. The comfortable lifestyle choice for Nigerians.

So living illegally abroad is the Nigerian way of doing things.

But some foreign governments may not like it. So will treat Nigerians like they are animals.

THOSE NIGERIANS & AFRICANS PUSHED OUT INTO THE STREETS IN CHINA WERE THERE ILLEGALLY.

If you live by the devil's rules then others will show you the devil's pepper.

Now Police in China suspect anybody who looks African to be doing something dishonest there. And even African-Americans are affected.

DISHONESTY. Will Nigerians ever stop it? Can Nigerians ever stop it? Or is this the self curse?
PoliticsCuba Ready To Help In Nigerias Covid 19 Battle by onoja12(op): 3:40am On Apr 04, 2020
Nigeria’s challenge with the expanding footprints of the coronavirus pandemic is getting a badly needed signal to help from Cuba, the Caribbean nation whose biomedical industry is currently attracting global acclaim for the impressive results its “wonder drug,” the interferon Alpha 2B, had in the control and management of the disease in Wuhan, China.

Cuban Ambassador to Nigeria, Clara Escandell, in an interview with PREMIUM TIMES, said her country which has “historical relationship” with Nigeria will be “attentive to the request of the country” but said no such request had been made “at the moment.”

“Cuba and Nigeria have a historical relationship. Through the veins of many Cubans flows blood from the peoples that make up this great country. There is an enormous cultural and idiosyncratic influence from Nigeria in many aspects of our social life, like music” Ms Escandell said stating that if a request is tabled by the Nigerian government, “we analyse the overall issue and agree on what conduct can be followed.”

On account of the reputed effectiveness of the Interferon Alpha 2B, about a dozen countries are already knocking on the doors of the Havana government seeking Cuban help.

With an eye on the role the Interferon Alpha 2B played in China, the Italian government invited the Cubans who have sent in 50 biomedical experts from its Cuban Medical Brigade “Henry Reeve,” who are veterans in solving complex health situations and had built experience in the fight against Ebola in Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea and in disaster management in countries like Haiti and Pakistan when they were shaken by earthquakes, according to Ms Escandell.

Although the Interferon Alpha 2B is not a vaccine, it is “one of the 30 medicines chosen by the Chinese National Health Commission to fight the virus” according to Helen Yaffe, who teaches Cuban and Latin American development at the University of Glasgow and who has provided one of the broadest insights on the history and trajectory of the drug.

In a recent blog on the platform of the London School of Economics, Ms Yaffe explains how Cuba’s early entry into the biotech industry paved a path for the small Island nation to harness international expertise and develop medicines to fight a range of diseases from dengue fever and meningitis to the COVID19.

While the Interferon Alpha 2B had been used in the effective management of meningitis, some cancer, dengue fever and HIV, Ms Yaffe argues that the drug’s brightest moment was the 1989-1990 meningitis campaign when three million Cubans most at risk were vaccinated.

“Subsequently, 250,000 young people were vaccinated with the VA-MENGOC-BC vaccine, a combined vaccine for meningitis types B and C. The vaccine recorded a 95 per cent efficacy rate overall, with 97 per cent in the high-risk age group of three months to six years. Cuba’s meningitis B vaccine was awarded a UN Gold Medal for global innovation. This was Cuba’s meningitis miracle,” she argued.

Last week in Lagos the public interest litigant, Femi Falana, asked the federal government to approach the Cubans and seek help to contain the COVID-19 rampage. Since then, a string of virologist, medical professionals, and civil society activists have also supported the call.

The President, Nigeria Medical Association, Francis Faduyile, welcomes any foreign experts who want to come and assist Nigeria combat the Covid-19 outbreak in the country.

Although Mr Faduyile worries that the country is yet to fully explore the expertise of the professionals available in the country, he merely asked that “care and caution is important in engaging external support when the government has not made use of what is available on ground.”

Mr. Faduyile also wants a more symbiotic relation that enriches rather than use Nigerians as what he calls “Guinea pigs’ but Ms Escandell said “Cuban scientific institutions are fully prepared to work alongside Nigerian ones, stating that “these issues have been discussed in the past and it is a permanently open door and opportunity. The most important thing is to go deeper among the interested and concerned institutions on what we can do together.”

If such collaborations will proceed now, it will be institutions such as LABIOFAM, the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, the Immunoassay Center, according to Ms Escandell, that will take the lead, a point that already caught the attention of Idowu Obasa, the Chief Executive Officer, of Biomedical Services, a major biogenetic and pharmaceutical concern in Ilorin, Kwara State, who told PREMIUM TIMES that “we shall soon be opening dialogue with the Cubans …we have great respect for the biogenetic programme in the country particularly the research and outcomes on malaria, hepatitis and meningitis.”

Training her gaze at the enormity of the challenge and the possible dimensions of human suffering of COVID-19, the chief executive of the Vaccine Network, Chika Offor, asked the Nigerian government to “accept all offers of help it can get to combat the ongoing Covid-19 outbreak ravaging the country.”

Mrs Offor pointed to the novelty of the virus and counselled federal authorities not to be trapped in a tunnel vision because as she puts it, “the virus is a new one and most countries do not have sole knowledge of how to treat the virus. [So] it is a learning time and every country has been learning one or two things about the disease and containing its spread.

“It is not about competition, so there is no harm in accepting a helping hand. We need to welcome the experience of countries where they have recorded successes in containing the disease,” she said.

The chief executive officer of the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre, CISLAC, Auwal Musa, said a realistic assessment of the COVID 19 trail in the country ought to prompt the government in feverish search for help from those who have expertise in the management of the situation “from the international community especially Cuba.”

The government is expected to actively seek support from other countries that have the experts before it gets out of hand. It is because most Nigeria officials are not sincere and not willing to accept the realistic conditions of health service in the country.

Mr Musa painted a sober sight of the country’s health landscape, querying why experts who have gone out of the country, find no inspiration to address “our dilapidated hospitals, address the oddity of money budgeted for the hospitals but are not used rightly or not even released, and why we don’t have testing kits, and facilities to combat Covid-19.”

The claims around the Interferon Alpha 2B is adequate reason, Mr Musa said, why it is important that the Nigeria government accept Cuban health offers and assemble our medical experts to sit down with them to see if the drugs will be applicable for use in Nigeria.

For Abdulfatai Ibrahim, a medical virologist, Interferon Alpha 2B could be an effective treatment for the COVID-19 disease. He rests his argument on the history of the drug in “the treatment of viral diseases such as hepatitis B and other, [and that] Interferon Alpha 2B has been proven to be effective in stopping the replication of virus in the cells.”

Mr Ibrahim’s views are in sync with Ms Yaffe who reasons that: “since its first application to combat dengue fever, interferon has shown its efficacy and safety in the therapy of viral diseases including hepatitis types B and C, shingles, HIV-AIDS, and dengue. Because it interferes with viral multiplication within cells, it has also been used in the treatment of different types of carcinomas. Only time will tell if Interferon Alfa 2B proves to be the wonder drug

uote author=Yenefer post=87874216]Mtsww white washed

Religion is not our problem, African leaders are our problems

"In Africa we are content to say it’s not okay to marry someone just because he is not from our tribe or because he is from the other side of religious divide" u think in other part of the world is different? Is worse.

"Here you cannot buy land unless you are a native and you cannot find work unless you are an indigene, yet we go to America, get their passport and settle whenever, wherever and however we want." U think they will even let u buy land in other part of the world in China, Russia, and many Asian country. U can buy land u can only rent it. "Go to America get their passport and settle" it's to early to be intoxicated. The rest of the write up is also rubbish. U are been hurt so much but don't take it on Africa. Don't believe Hollywood. They're in business of manipulation and lying
PoliticsRe: Governor Diri Donates N40m Supreme Court Awarded Him To Church, Warns APC by onoja12: 1:37am On Mar 02, 2020
wrong, this is likened to somebody who was sick, went to the hospital ,the doctor battles for hours to save his life and After getting him back on his feet,he goes to buy his pastor a car to thank God for saving his life.the pastor didnt do shit, the doctor did,if you are to thank anybody thank the doctor.same with his church, the people of that state voted for him, then he turns around to dash his money to a pastor, for what reason did the pastor make him governor or the people did?

petitejolie:
i tell you. As long as someone like buhari is the head of the party, they will b asslicking him and everything in his agenda is fulani empowerment at d detriment of others. If not the way powers that be has been on his trail, he would av dealt with us morethan this. Now all southsouth governors should come together and do d needful against the highhandedness of some set of people while dey work towards development of their various statesbut its his money na. It was awarded to him not d state. There is state money for that which he's accountable for. But for his money, no one should tell him how he wants to spend it.
