on this issue i will say she right and also wrong because
1. the excess crude reserve is not just an FG thing it is both in the control of FG and State government and constitutionaly must be shared between them, what happened under OBJ was that he was a strong man so he could virtualy arm twist the governors and not share but keep in reserve which is good for nigeria, but under Yaradua and GEJ they have been this always giving in to the governors request for sharing.
2. the real problem with the depletion which started under Yaradua was his reversion to 65 naira per liter from about 90 naira per litre which OBJ left, i understand because he is a man whom feels the pain of the people but what he at the time fail to see was the economic effect of his action, as a result both him and his successor started pulling money from the reserve to pay for subsidy by the time Yaradua died the reserve was already heavily depleted and that continued under Jonathan, now that promted Jonathans drive for complete removal after he took over and since he did revert to 97 the reserve has kept going up ever since then. i understand Ekwesilis pain because if that reserve had kept growing the naira would had been stronger today, if i can remember soundly in 2007 the naira appreciated greatly to 114 to a dolar that i and some of my colleagues were saying if this continues under the next government the naira could go to as low as 60 to a dolar but the reverse was the case because Yaradua got the economics wrong, he rather was only focused on the short term effect on the people. OBJ still remains Nigerians best and hope in the near future we get someone as strong and economics minded like him
