Boko Haram is Sunni, and of the Wahhabi ideology. Shekau pledged allegiance to ISIL caliph, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. Wahhabis view Shi'ites as apostates and heretics who should be killed. a Christian has a better chance of survival with Wahhabis than a Shi'ite would!

5 FACTS ON THIS STORY AFTER RESEARCHING ON IT:

Some ignorant and over-sensational folks on Nairaland need to get their facts before they spew rubbish. they are even trying to capitalize on this story to attack President Jonathan for what the court in Nigeria has absolved some people for.

1.) you need to know that it is not every group that the US or any country brands a "terrorist group" that Nigeria must also brand a terrorist group. being a Muslim party or group doesn't necessary make any group that is at odds with the US a "terrorist group". the IRA fighting for Irish independence and nationalism is a Catholic group branded by both the US and UK "terrorist". Nelson Mandela was also once designated a terrorist for fighting for his people.

2.) Based on Nigerian law, and based on the ruling of a Nigerian court, Hezbollah is not a terrorist organization. so the owners of Amigo or any Lebanese who is associated or affiliated with that party/group has committed no offense against Nigeria, Nigerian law, or the government of Nigeria. the other charges on arms were all dropped by the court. the Lebanese businessmen were imprisoned for five months, during which it was purported that they were even drilled by MOSSAD agents in Nigeria, and the court dropped charges against them. they were freed. this can tell you that there is deep politics being played from abroad. foreign countries should not settle their scores in Nigeria. everyone in Nigeria should abide by Nigerian law, and Nigeria is neutral in their fight.

3.) if you follow international politics, this isn't the first time Lebanese businesses and businessmen have been targeted by US sanctions and were accused of having links to Hezbollah. the US could sanction anyone or anything that it doesn't have control over, or anyone who opposes Israel, and anyone that refuses to go by their dictate. a quick reminder of recent is that the US refused to sell arms to Nigeria because it claimed that human rights abuses were committed by the Nigerian Army, while the same US is having arms deals with despotic, crude and backwards governments that abuse their citizens and use American weapons on peaceful civilian protests in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and elsewhere. sanctioning of Lebanese businesses owned by Lebanese Shia has been the tactics also employed by Sunni regimes in the middle east to put pressure on Hezbollah and to try to influence Lebanese internal politics.

4.) Hezbollah is a political party in Lebanon with 14 members in the Lebanese parliament and two ministers in the Lebanese government. Hezbollah's main political ally in Lebanon is the largest Christian party in parliament called the Free Patriotic Movement led by a retired Christian general and former prime minister, Michel Aoun. the main constituency of Hezbollah is the Shi'ite (also spelled "Shia" ) community, which is the largest single religious community in Lebanon comprising 43% of Lebanon's total population. Hezbollah also has an armed wing it dumbed "the Islamic resistance" that drove Israeli occupation of Lebanon out in 2000 and fought with Israel in 2006 a standstill war. European Union members meet often with Hezbollah officials, and just yesterday it was in the news that French members of parliament met with a high ranking Hezbollah official. even until recently (in 2014) after much pressure from US and Israel, the EU only blacklisted the armed wing of Hezbollah as a "terrorist organization" and refused to blacklist the entire party. the EU, as already stated, continues to deal directly with Hezbollah.

5.) for those easily swayed by religious sentiments, who get "irritated" by anything "Muslim" or "Islam", cool down. Hezbollah is a Shia Islamist party. it is opposed by the Sunni islamist parties with Wahhabi ideological leanings. Hezbollah is currently fighting against ISIL and the Nusra Front (alqaeda's affiliate in Syria), while US allies- like turkey, Qatar and Saudi Arabia- continue to support these groups to battle the government of Bashar al-Assad. so the point is Hezbollah is no friend of Boko Haram. Boko Haram's leader recently pledged allegiance to the ISIL caliph. Hezbollah is siding with the Syrian Army and the government of Bashar al-Assad (who is Alawite, an sub-sect of Shia Islam) against both ISIL and Nusra Front in Syria. Nusra Front fighters are giving medical care and support by Israel across the border. Israel, and the US and its allies oppose the government of Bashar al-Assad. ISIL and other extremist Sunni Wahhabi terrorist groups view the Shi'ites as apostates/heretics.

to conclude, as far as the foreigners hosted in Nigeria are law abiding and peaceful, they pose no threat to Nigeria. whatever tactics or poltical maneuvers the US/Israel choose to play by, they should respect the sovereignty of other countries and not impose their will.
HealthStudy Suggests Genetic Link For Male Homosexuality by Onyocha(op): 2:19pm On Nov 18, 2014

CHICAGO (AP) — A large study of gay brothers adds to evidence that genes influence men’s chances of being homosexual, but the results aren’t strong enough to prove it.

Some scientists believe several genes might affect sexual orientation. Researchers who led the new study of nearly 800 gay brothers say their results bolster previous evidence pointing to genes on the X chromosome.

They also found evidence of influence from a gene or genes on a different chromosome. But the study doesn’t identify which of hundreds of genes located in either place might be involved.

Smaller studies seeking genetic links to homosexuality have had mixed results.

The new evidence “is not proof but it’s a pretty good indication” that genes on the two chromosomes have some influence over sexual orientation, said Dr. Alan Sanders, the lead author. He studies behavioral genetics at NorthShore University HealthSystem Research Institute in Evanston, Illinois.

Experts not involved in the study were more skeptical.

Neil Risch, a genetics expert at the University of California, San Francisco, said the data are statistically too weak to demonstrate any genetic link. Risch was involved in a smaller study that found no link between male homosexuality and chromosome X.

Dr. Robert Green, a medical geneticist at Harvard Medical School, called the new study “intriguing but not in any way conclusive.”

The work was published Monday by the journal Psychological Medicine. The National Institutes of Health paid for the research.

The researchers say they found potential links to male homosexuality in a portion of chromosome X and on chromosome 8, based on an analysis of genetic material in blood or saliva samples from participants.

Chromosome X is one of two human sex chromosomes; the other is chromosome Y, present only in men.

The study authors note that animal research suggests a gene located in one region of chromosome X may contribute to some sexual behavior; it’s one of the same regions cited in the new study.

Specific causes of homosexuality are unknown. Some scientists think social, cultural, family and biological factors are involved, while some religious groups consider it an immoral choice.

Study participant Dr. Chad Zawitz, a Chicago physician, called the research “a giant step forward” toward answering scientific questions about homosexuality and helping reduce the stigma gays often face.

Being gay “is sort of like having certain eye color or skin color — it’s just who you are,” Zawitz said. “Most heterosexuals I know didn’t choose to be heterosexual. It’s puzzling to me why people don’t understand.”

Foreign Affairs‘Gay’ Bull Could Be Facing The Slaughterhouse by Onyocha(op): 10:59am On Nov 12, 2014
An Irish farmer could send one of his prized breeding bulls to the slaughter – because he is more interested in breeding with males than females.

The anonymous farmer in County Mayo bought Benjy – an expensive pedigree Charolais bull – with the intention of breeding cattle last year.

However, the farmer was left disappointed when the bull refused to mate – and showed more interest in other bulls than with cows.

He said: “Benjy had already been tested and everything was normal, so it became apparent that the problem lay elsewhere.”

The farmer theorised that the bull was just a “discreet chappy” – but he brought in an expert who noticed his attraction to the same sex.

He said: “At first I didn’t take seriously that the bull could be gay but after seeking advice I know this can happen.”

The bull could be facing the slaughterhouse, with the farmer adding: “The bull is now too old to castrate and turn into a bullock so I will keep him for the factory.”

Homosexual behaviour has been observed in a number of species in the animal kingdom.

A journal earlier this year reported the first known instance of two male brown bears engaging in MouthAction.

The zookeepers wrote: “In the case reported here, the provider may have found a substitute for teat‐sucking that also resulted in a let‐down of substitute ‘milk’.”

Obama sent letter to Leader to seek cooperation in fight against ISIL: WSJ

Thu Nov 6, 2014 9:53PM GMT

US President Barack Obama sent a letter to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in October about the ISIL terrorist group, a US daily reported Thursday.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the secret letter stressed the US-Iran shared interests in fighting the Takfiri militants.

The Journal cited people briefed on the letter, but added that White House officials declined to discuss the letter with the newspaper.

"Administration officials didn't deny the letter's existence when questioned by foreign diplomats in recent days," it said.

In response to reporters’ questions, the White House only said it discussed ISIL’s threat with Iran on the sidelines of nuclear talks between Tehran and the P5+1 group of countries.

White House spokesman Josh Earnest said, "I'm not in a position to discuss private correspondence between the president and any world leader."

The ISIL terrorists, who were initially trained by the CIA in Jordan in 2012 to destabilize the Syrian government, now control large swaths of territory in Iraq and Syria.

They have threatened all communities, including Shias, Sunnis, Kurds, Christians, Izadi Kurds and others, as they continue their atrocities in Iraq and Syria.

US warplanes have been conducting airstrikes against ISIL in Iraq since early August. Some Western states have also participated in some of the strikes in Iraq.

Since late September, the US and some of its Arab allies have been carrying out airstrikes against ISIL inside Syria without any authorization from Damascus or a UN mandate.

Ayatollah Khamenei has said that efforts by the US and its allies against ISIL are not genuine and that groups like ISIL and al-Qaeda were created to confront Iran and deal with the wave of Islamic awakening in the Middle East and Africa.

The Leader has said the US-led coalition is using ISIL as a tool to create divisions among Muslims, calling on Shia and Sunni Muslims not to get involved in any move that will play into enemies’ hands.

“Shias and Sunnis shouldn’t help the enemy by desecrating their sanctities and provoking one another’s sentiments,” Ayatollah Khamenei said last month.

Obama Wrote Secret Letter to Iran’s Khamenei About Fighting Islamic State

Presidential Correspondence With Ayatollah Stresses Shared U.S.-Iranian Interests in Combating Insurgents, Urges Progress on Nuclear Talks

ByJay Solomon And Carol E. Lee

Updated Nov. 6, 2014 7:22 p.m. ET

WASHINGTON—President Barack Obama secretly wrote to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in the middle of last month and described a shared interest in fighting Islamic State militants in Iraq and Syria, according to people briefed on the correspondence.

The letter appeared aimed both at buttressing the campaign against Islamic State and nudging Iran’s religious leader closer to a nuclear deal.

Mr. Obama stressed to Mr. Khamenei that any cooperation on Islamic State was largely contingent on Iran reaching a comprehensive agreement with global powers on the future of Tehran’s nuclear program by a Nov. 24 diplomatic deadline, the same people say.

The October letter marked at least the fourth time Mr. Obama has written Iran’s most powerful political and religious leader since taking office in 2009 and pledging to engage with Tehran’s Islamist government.

The correspondence underscores that Mr. Obama views Iran as important—whether in a potentially constructive or negative role—to his emerging military and diplomatic campaign to push Islamic State from the territories it has gained over the past six months.

Mr. Obama’s letter also sought to assuage Iran’s concerns about the future of its close ally, President Bashar al-Assad of Syria, according to another person briefed on the letter. It states that the U.S.’s military operations inside Syria aren’t targeted at Mr. Assad or his security forces.

Mr. Obama and senior administration officials in recent days have placed the chances for a deal with Iran at only 50-50. U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry is set to begin intensive direct negotiations on the nuclear issue with his Iranian counterpart, Javad Zarif, on Sunday in the Persian Gulf country of Oman.

“There’s a sizable portion of the political elite that cut their teeth on anti-Americanism,” Mr. Obama said at a White House news conference on Wednesday about Iran’s leadership, without commenting on his personal overture. “Whether they can manage to say ‘Yes’…is an open question.”

.
For the first time this week, a senior administration official said negotiations could be extended beyond the Nov. 24 deadline, adding that the White House will know after Mr. Kerry’s trip to Oman whether a deal with Iran is possible by late November.

“We’ll know a lot more after that meeting as to whether or not we have a shot at an agreement by the deadline,” the senior official said. “If there’s an extension, there’re questions like: What are the terms?”

Mr. Obama’s push for a deal faces renewed resistance after Tuesday’s elections gave Republicans control of the Senate and added power to thwart an agreement and to impose new sanctions on Iran. Sens. Mark Kirk (R., Ill.) and Robert Menendez (D., N.J.) have introduced legislation to intensify sanctions.

“The best way to prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon is to quickly pass the bipartisan Menendez-Kirk legislation—not to give the Iranians more time to build a bomb,” Mr. Kirk said Wednesday.

House Speaker John Boehner (R., Ohio) expressed concern when asked about the letter sent by Mr. Obama.

“I don’t trust the Iranians, I don’t think we need to bring them into this,” Mr. Boehner said. Referring to the continuing nuclear talks between Iran and world powers, Mr. Boehner said he “would hope that the negotiations that are under way are serious negotiations, but I have my doubts.”

In a sign of the sensitivity of the Iran diplomacy, the White House didn’t tell its Middle East allies—including Israel, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates—about Mr. Obama’s October letter to Mr. Khamenei, according to people briefed on the correspondence and representatives of allied countries.

Leaders from these countries have voiced growing concern in recent weeks that the U.S. is preparing to significantly soften its demands in the nuclear talks with Tehran. They said they worry the deal could allow Iran to gain the capacity to produce nuclear weapons in the future.

Arab leaders also fear Washington’s emerging rapprochement with Tehran could come at the expense of their security and economic interests across the Middle East. These leaders have accused the U.S. of keeping them in the dark about its diplomatic engagements with Tehran.

The Obama administration launched secret talks with Iran in the Omani capital of Muscat in mid-2012, but didn’t notify Washington’s Mideast allies of the covert diplomatic channel until late 2013.

Senior U.S. officials declined to discuss Mr. Obama’s letter to Mr. Khamenei after questions from The Wall Street Journal.

White House press secretary Josh Earnest on Thursday declined to comment on what he called “private correspondence” between the president and world leaders, but acknowledged U.S. officials in the past have discussed the Islamic State campaign with Iranian officials on the sidelines of international nuclear talks. He added the negotiations remain centered on Iran’s nuclear program and reiterated that the U.S. isn’t cooperating militarily with Iran on the Islamic State fight.

Administration officials didn’t deny the letter’s existence when questioned by foreign diplomats in recent days.

Mr. Khamenei has proved a fickle diplomatic interlocutor for Mr. Obama in the past six years.

Mr. Obama sent two letters to Iran’s 75-year-old supreme leader during the first half of 2009, calling for improvements in U.S.-Iran ties, which had been frozen since the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Tehran.

Mr. Khamenei never directly responded to the overtures, according to U.S. officials. And Iran’s security forces cracked down hard that year on nationwide protests that challenged the re-election of then-President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad .

U.S.-Iran relations have thawed considerably since the election of President Hasan Rouhani in June 2013. He and Mr. Obama shared a 15-minute phone call in September 2013, and Messrs. Kerry and Zarif have regularly held direct talks on the nuclear diplomacy and regional issues.

Still, Mr. Khamenei has often cast doubt on the prospects for better relations with Washington. He has criticized the U.S. military campaign against Islamic State, which is also known as ISIS or ISIL, claiming it is another attempt by Washington and the West to weaken the Islamic world.

“America, Zionism, and especially the veteran expert of spreading divisions—the wicked government of Britain—have sharply increased their efforts of creating divisions between the Sunnis and Shiites,” Mr. Khamenei said in a speech last month, according to a copy of it on his website. “They created al Qaeda and [Islamic State] in order to create divisions and to fight against the Islamic Republic, but today, they have turned on them.”

Current and former U.S. officials have said Mr. Obama has focused on communicating with Mr. Khamenei specifically because they believe the cleric will make all the final decisions on Iran’s nuclear program and the fight against Islamic State.

Mr. Rouhani is seen as navigating a difficult balance of gaining Mr. Khamenei’s approval for his foreign policy decisions while trying to satisfy Iranian voters who elected him in the hope of seeing Iran re-engage with the Western world.

The emergence of Islamic State has drastically changed both Washington’s and Tehran’s policies in the Middle East.

Mr. Obama was elected on the pledge of ending Washington’s war in Iraq. But over the past three months, he has resumed a U.S. air war in the Arab country, focused on weakening Islamic State’s hold of territory in western and northern Iraq.

Iran has had to mobilize its own military resources to fight against Islamic State, according to senior Iranian and U.S. officials.

Tehran’s elite military unit, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, has sent military advisers into Iraq to help the government of Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, a close Iranian ally. The IRGC has also worked with Syrian President Assad’s government, and Shiite militias from across the Mideast, to conduct military operations inside Syria.

U.S. officials have stressed that they are not coordinating with Tehran on the fight against Islamic State.

But the State Department has confirmed that senior U.S. officials have discussed Iraq with Mr. Zarif on the sidelines of nuclear negotiations in Vienna. U.S. diplomats have also passed on messages to Tehran via Mr. Abadi’s government in Baghdad and through the offices of Iraq’s Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, among the most powerful religious leaders in the Shiite world.

Among the messages conveyed to Tehran, according to U.S. officials, is that U.S. military operations in Iraq and Syria aren’t aimed at weakening Tehran or its allies.

“We’ve passed on messages to the Iranians through the Iraqi government and Sistani saying our objective is against ISIL,” said a senior U.S. official briefed on these communications. “We’re not using this as a platform to reoccupy Iraq or to undermine Iran.”

Shocking Details Of How Nigerian Soldiers Shot, Tortured El-Zakzaky’s Sons, Followers To Death — Premium Times

by Nicholas Ibekwe—Premium Times

Oct 24, 2014

he United Kingdom-based Islamic Human Rights Commission, IHRC, has released a damning report accusing Nigerian soldiers of indiscriminately shooting and killing defenceless members of the Islamic Movement of of Nigeria in Zaria between July 25 and 26.

The report said 34 defenceless members of the group, led by prominent Islamic cleric, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, were murdered in cold blood as they marched through the streets of Zaria, in Kaduna State. More than 100 others were injured, it adds.

The report, compiled from interviews with victims, their families, witnesses, found that contrary to the Nigerian army’s account of the killings, the protesters were peaceful and did not provoke the attacks.

The IHRC fact-finding team, led by its Chair, Massoud Shadjareh, also obtained a video footage of soldiers firing at unarmed civilians at the end of the procession. The report said bystanders were among those killed by the rampaging soldiers.

The IHRC also said that it has unimpeachable evidence to prove that many of those arrested died in military custody, unable to withstand the brutality they were subjected to by the soldiers.

July 25: first day of massacre

The report titled: “Zaria Massacres and the Role of the Military” observed that on July 25, after Friday prayers, followers of Mr. El-Zakzaky embarked on the traditional Al-Quds procession done in support of the Palestinian Cause following the same route it has followed in the last 33 years.

It stated that the procession ended at about 4:30 p.m. and participants were already dispersing after a collective prayer had been said at the meeting point. But due to the number of people that turned out for the procession, the line stretched about three kilometres from the meeting point before soldiers attacked it.

Trouble started after soldiers confronted volunteers managing traffic at the PZ Junction on the criteria they were using to give priority pass to cars. According to the report, the confrontation appeared to be an excuse by the soldiers to start the attack because despite allowing he truck they were in to pass, the soldiers started shooting at protesters indiscriminately.

“This appears to have been a smokescreen for the attacks, because even as they were being given priority passage, the soldiers started shooting at demonstrators from a very close distance. Ishaq Abdullah was shot and bundled into the army vehicle. The soldiers then sped off, went around the block of shops and cut off a large group who were at the tail end of the procession from the main body. They took positions near these shops and started to shoot at the crowd. The volunteers and other non-partisan eye-witnesses stated that the volunteers did not have weapons and did not instigate the violence,” the report noted.

The IHRC said it obtained video footage and images that “clearly show the soldiers walking calmly towards the crowd while shooting at it.”

“There seemed to be no obvious danger to the soldiers as they took no precautions against being attacked. They were not seeking protection behind objects, nor wearing helmets and were walking directly towards the crowd while shooting. Had the crowd posed any danger to them they would not have taken such a casual approach,” the report stated.

According to IHRC, stewards and traffic volunteers approached the shooting soldiers screaming “Allahu Akbar (Allah is great) and Ya Mahdi (O Mahdi) adding that they “placed themselves between the soldiers and the crowd and also to rescue those who were lying injured on the road.”

Many of them were instantly shot for this brave act, the report found.

According to a testimony by the family of 20-year-old student, Ridwan Musa, who was killed in the shooting, he stood between the soldiers and a group of women the soldiers had taken aim at and challenged them as to why they were shooting at unarmed civilians. Mr. Musa was shot in the head and he died immediately.

The report also noted that the indiscriminate nature of the shooting meant that bystanders and non-sect members were also killed and injured.

“Julius Anyanwu, a 68-year-old Christian man, was shot and disembowelled as he sought to know why the soldiers were shooting unarmed civilians. He died before arrival at the hospital. In an adjacent shop, a Christian woman was shot and injured as she sought shelter in the shop she worked in. A number of stray bullets tore through the front of the shop and into her hands and chest. IHRC obtained pictures showing damage done to shops and other property.”

“Bullets pierced metal doors. One physically handicapped victim recounted that she had been in the area begging for food. When the shooting started she dived for cover as she was unable to run away. A soldier approached her, shot her in her good leg and walked away. Her leg had to be amputated.”

All those interviewed said the soldiers did not issue any warnings. They told IHRC that the soldiers shot randomly and indiscriminately at the crowd.

According to the testimony of a farmer who was wounded in the attack, soldiers chased people into his farm and shot at them. He said he saw another soldier who took position in his sugarcane field, shooting those who ran to the field for cover.

Some of those who were arrested and taken to the nearby Basawa Military Barracks said they went through a harrowing four to five-hour ordeal at the hands of the soldiers.

Mr. El-Zakzaky’s three biological sons, Mahmud, Ahmad and Hamid were killed in the attack. A fourth son of the cleric, Ali, was shot in the leg. He survived.

One of those interviewed also explained in detail how the three sons of Mr El-Zakzaky were killed.

Mahmud was a student of Al Mustapha University, Beirut; Ahmad, a Chemical Engineering student of Shenyang University, China; and Hamid, an Aeronautical Engineering student of Xiang University, also in China.

He said soldiers accosted Hamid, Ali, Ahmad and other volunteers at the PZ roundabout. The trio were chanting songs while lying on the ground as the shooting became intense. According to the witness, soldiers did not stop shooting, so Hamid and Ahmad decided to get away but Ali remained on the ground.

Most of those on the ground were already dead or injured. As the soldiers approached, Ali screamed and one of the soldiers shot him in the leg. The narrator said a soldier also pointed his gun at him and was going to shoot, but he grabbed the gun and was wrestling with the armed man when another soldier shot him in the leg.

He and Ali were dragged to the side of the road where they saw Hamid and Ahmad being shot by soldiers. “They were shot twice in the back and once in the leg,” the report said.

While all these were happening, Mahmud had been shot and his body left on the street for volunteers to retrieve.

Ali, Ahmad and Hamid and others that were injured were piled on top of one another in the back of a truck and driven to the Chindit Barracks.

According to the unnamed narrator, during the journey, Hamid pleaded with the soldiers that Ahmad was badly injured and needed immediate medical attention, as he could no longer breathe freely. The narrator told IHRC that Hamid’s entreaties only attracted vicious response from the soldiers as he was kicked and hit with the butt of their AK 47 riffles.

The soldiers were not allowed into the Chindit Barracks so they turned and headed to the Basawa Barracks that was five kilometres away. At the Basawa Barracks, a senior military officer, on seeing how injured the victims were, ordered that they should be put in an ambulance and taken to the Teaching Hospital in Shika, the report said.

But the commander of the unit that arrested them, S.O Oku, a Lieutenant Colonel, stopped the ambulance at the gate of the barracks and ordered that they should be put on the ground. Mr. Oku allegedly asked that the sons of El-Zakzaky identify themselves and he proceeded to separate Ali, Ahmad and Hamid. Soldiers took pictures of the captives while “insulting and taunting” them.

“The soldiers were also insulting and taunting their captives, and every time they said something Ali, who is only 15, would respond with a comment. One of the soldiers decided to attack him for his response and went to hit him, at which point Hamid tried to shield Ali with his own body. Hamid was hit on the head twice with the butt of a rifle. That was the last time anyone heard Hamid speak or move. Ali mentioned that he saw Hamid’s eyes rolling and he died soon afterwards.”

By the time they were taken to hospital, Ahmad’s body was starting to get cold while Hamid body was already stiff. They were both dead.

The report said that evidence by Gilbert Uwadia, the medical Director of St Luke Catholic Hospital, confirmed that the victim had clean laceration on their bodies which probably had been inflicted on them by the bayonet on the AK 47 rifles the soldiers carried.

July 26: second day of massacre

Not satisfied with the bloodbath of the previous day, the report said soldiers in three trucks approached a gathering of sympathisers outside the Husainiyyah Baqiyyatullah, resident of the sect leader, and without any warning whatsoever started shooting the crowd at close range.

Two people were killed and seven others were injured in the attack.

IHRC said the police were not involved in the incident of July 25 and refused to take the captive from the army. It wondered why the army was involved in an incident it itself tagged a civil disturbance, which was a responsibility of the police.

It also added that the fact that senior military officers were not aware of the attack indicated that it was a special operation carried out by a select few.

The report also noted that despite the army’s claim that soldiers were fired upon, no soldier was killed or injured in the attacks.

IHRC said that judging by the history of extrajudicial killing by the Nigerian military, a third party independent of the Nigerian Government and military should investigate the attack with the aim of unravelling what happened.

Anderson Cooper Destroys Pat Robertson's 'Towels Have AIDS' Warning

The Huffington Post | By Catherine Taibi

Anderson Cooper tore straight into conservative Christian media personality Pat Robertson on Tuesday night for his ridiculous and offensive claims about AIDS.

While responding to a "The 700 Club" viewer, Robertson cautioned traveling to Kenya, not because of Ebola, but because "the towels could have AIDS."

During the latest edition of the "Ridiculist" on "Anderson Cooper 360," the visibly infuriated host set the record straight:

"Just to be clear, if, like Pat Robertson, you somehow missed all the evidence, all the research, the depth and breadth of all the knowledge garnered about HIV and AIDS over the past three decades, you cannot get HIV if you share towels," Cooper said.

The CNN host went on to tease that maybe the best thing for all of us to do is to just stay in the United States and not travel at all.

"Except steer clear of San Francisco," he added. "Because that's of course where all the gay people live and Pat Robertson thinks they have an ingenious way of giving you 'the stuff.'"

Cooper for the win.

Saudis Must Stop Exporting Extremism

ISIS Atrocities Started With Saudi Support for Salafi Hate

By ED HUSAIN

August 22, 2014

New York Times

ALONG with a billion Muslims across the globe, I turn to Mecca in Saudi Arabia every day to say my prayers. But when I visit the holy cities of Mecca and Medina, the resting place of the Prophet Muhammad, I am forced to leave overwhelmed with anguish at the power of extremism running amok in Islam’s birthplace. Non-Muslims are forbidden to enter this part of the kingdom, so there is no international scrutiny of the ideas and practices that affect the 13 million Muslims who visit each year.

Last week, Saudi Arabia donated $100 million to the United Nations to fund a counterterrorism agency. This was a welcome contribution, but last year, Saudi Arabia rejected a rotating seat on the United Nations Security Council. This half-in, half-out posture of the Saudi kingdom is a reflection of its inner paralysis in dealing with Sunni Islamist radicalism: It wants to stop violence, but will not address the Salafism that helps justify it.

Let’s be clear: Al Qaeda, the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, Boko Haram, the Shabab and others are all violent Sunni Salafi groupings. For five decades, Saudi Arabia has been the official sponsor of Sunni Salafism across the globe.

Most Sunni Muslims around the world, approximately 90 percent of the Muslim population, are not Salafis. Salafism is seen as too rigid, too literalist, too detached from mainstream Islam. While Shiite and other denominations account for 10 percent of the total, Salafi adherents and other fundamentalists represent 3 percent of the world’s Muslims.

Unlike a majority of Sunnis, Salafis are evangelicals who wish to convert Muslims and others to their “purer” form of Islam — unpolluted, as they see it, by modernity. In this effort, they have been lavishly supported by the Saudi government, which has appointed emissaries to its embassies in Muslim countries who proselytize for Salafism. The kingdom also grants compliant imams V.I.P. access for the annual hajj, and bankrolls ultraconservative Islamic organizations like the Muslim World League and World Assembly of Muslim Youth.

After 9/11, under American pressure, much of this global financial support dried up, but the bastion of Salafism remains strong in the kingdom, enforcing the hard-line application of outdated Shariah punishments long abandoned by a majority of Muslims. Just since Aug. 4, 19 people have been beheaded in Saudi Arabia, nearly half for nonviolent crimes.

We are rightly outraged at the beheading of James Foley by Islamist militants, and by ISIS’ other atrocities, but we overlook the public executions by beheading permitted by Saudi Arabia. By licensing such barbarity, the kingdom normalizes and indirectly encourages such punishments elsewhere. When the country that does so is the birthplace of Islam, that message resonates.

I lived in Saudi Arabia’s most liberal city, Jidda, in 2005. That year, in an effort to open closed Saudi Salafi minds, King Abdullah supported dialogue with people of other religions. In my mosque, the cleric used his Friday Prayer sermon to prohibit such dialogue on grounds that it put Islam on a par with “false religions.” It was a slippery slope to freedom, democracy and gender equality, he argued — corrupt practices of the infidel West.

This tension between the king and Salafi clerics is at the heart of Saudi Arabia’s inability to reform. The king is a modernizer, but he and his advisers do not wish to disturb the 270-year-old tribal pact between the House of Saud and the founder of Wahhabism (an austere form of Islam close to Salafism). That 1744 desert treaty must now be nullified.

The influence that clerics wield is unrivaled. Even Saudis’ Twitter heroes are religious figures: An extremist cleric like Muhammad al-Arifi, who was banned last year from the European Union for advocating wife-beating and hatred of Jews, commands a following of 9. 4 million. The kingdom is also patrolled by a religious police force that enforces the veil for women, prohibits young lovers from meeting and ensures that shops do not display “indecent” magazine covers. In the holy cities of Mecca and Medina, the religious police beat women with sticks if they stray into male-only areas, or if their dress is considered immodest by Salafi standards. This is not an Islam that the Prophet Muhammad would recognize.

Salafi intolerance has led to the destruction of Islamic heritage in Mecca and Medina. If ISIS is detonating shrines, it learned to do so from the precedent set in 1925 by the House of Saud with the Wahhabi-inspired demolition of 1,400-year-old tombs in the Jannat Al Baqi cemetery in Medina. In the last two years, violent Salafis have carried out similar sectarian vandalism, blowing up shrines from Libya to Pakistan, from Mali to Iraq. Fighters from Hezbollah have even entered Syria to protect (Shia Islam's) holy sites.

Textbooks in Saudi Arabia’s schools and universities teach this brand of Islam. The University of Medina recruits students from around the world, trains them in the bigotry of Salafism and sends them to Muslim communities in places like the Balkans, Africa, Indonesia, Bangladesh and Egypt, where these Saudi-trained hard-liners work to eradicate the local, harmonious forms of Islam.

What is religious extremism but this aim to apply Shariah as state law? This is exactly what ISIS (Islamic State) is attempting do with its caliphate. Unless we challenge this un-Islamic, impractical and flawed concept of trying to govern by a rigid interpretation of Shariah, no amount of work by a United Nations agency can unravel Islamist terrorism.

Saudi Arabia created the monster that is Salafi terrorism. It cannot now outsource the slaying of this beast to the United Nations. It must address the theological and ideological roots of extremism at home, starting in Mecca and Medina. Reforming the home of Islam would be a giant step toward winning against extremism in this global battle of ideas.

Israeli propaganda starts to wear thin

One of the fascinating dimensions of the battle between Israel and Palestine is how Israeli leaders and their American apologists keep changing their propaganda message aimed at generally ignorant Western audiences. The core, but always evolving, message that Zionists keep sending out is that Palestinians who challenge Israel are part and parcel of a larger universe of frightening figures that espouse criminal values, and represent a direct, mortal threat to Israel and all Western civilization. The latest version of this fear-mongering campaign of lies and fantasy seeks to paint Hamas and others militant Palestinian resistance groups in Gaza as integral elements in the world of vicious actors and terrorists who are fighting in the name of Islam, such as the Salafist-takfiri extremists of the Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS), Al-Qaeda, or the Taliban in Afghanistan.

Most people in the United States or other Western lands who hear these messages lack the knowledge to understand that Israel’s accusations are bold and ridiculous lies. Yet these lies often strike a receptive chord among uninformed audiences that have only two images drilled into them year after year: Israel and Jews are threatened with death and extinction in the Middle East; and the region is full of rabid killers who want to kill Christians and Jews and turn the world into one big Islamic society that enslaves women and martyrs its children.

The problem with this latest twist of Zionist propaganda is that it tries to put into a single basket very different groups with totally unrelated inspirations, agendas and operating methods. It aims to tar Hamas, and also Hezbollah in Lebanon, with such extreme attributes that foreigners refuse to deal with them, and see them as part and parcel of that frightening body of ISIS and Al-Qaeda killers who claim to speak in the name of Islam and go around crucifying and cutting people’s heads off.

This strategy has actually worked for some time, as many Western powers have shunned dealing with Hamas or Hezbollah. Yet that pattern has started to break down in recent years, as foreign governments and civil society activists alike come to understand that groups like Hamas and Hezbollah essentially are locally anchored, state-based resistance groups that fight two battles at once: They seek to reverse what they say is the Israeli occupation, colonization and subjugation of their countries, and they seek to create a more efficient, less corrupt domestic governance system that responds to the needs of all its citizens. (On balance, they have done much better at fighting Israel than at generating better domestic governance).

Resisting and reversing Israeli actions forms the core of Hamas’ and Hezbollah’s strategies, therefore the Israeli spin masters try at all costs to prevent anyone abroad from seeing these Lebanese and Palestinian groups as having been born primarily to fight back against Israel’s excessive occupation and colonization. The easiest way to do this in the fact-light minds of many Western citizens and politicians is simply to associate Hamas and Hezbollah with Al-Qaeda, ISIS and the Taliban.

This strategy has started to wear thin and collapse in places because reasonable people in the world have repeatedly seen the overwhelming evidence of Israel’s violence and occasional criminal atrocities in Lebanon and Palestine. The many pictures of Lebanese and Palestinians simply protecting their lands from repeated Israeli attacks – including by attacking Israel with small rockets and as yet mostly harmless projectiles – have been coupled with the repeated Israeli destruction of thousands of Arab homes, as well as many schools, hospitals, power plants and other civilian facilities.

More and more governments and observers around the world have realized that Hamas and Hezbollah have nothing to do with Al-Qaeda or ISIS, whose agendas reflect bizarre religious fantasies rather than state-based resistance goals. We started to see this rejection of Israeli propaganda over a year ago when Americans and Europeans ignored the wild scare tactics of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and went ahead with negotiations with Iran on nuclear and sanctions issues.

The Western ability to ignore Zionism’s wild men in favor of a more rational approach to the world was also evident after the formation of the Palestinian national-unity government several months ago. The United States and the European Union among others accepted to engage with it, against the Israel desire to see the international community boycott the government.

Israel and its howlers in Washington will continue to try and lump nationalist resistance groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah with criminals such as Al-Qaeda and its offshoots, but the efficacy of such crude propaganda is steadily decreasing. This means we should be alert to the next set of exaggerations, diversions and lies that Israel and its Western hit men and women will use to prevent any rational accountability of Israeli actions.

Why Obama is bombing the Caliph

Published time: August 12, 2014 10:37

This is the way the multi-trillion dollar Global War on Terror (GWOT) ends: not with a bang, but with a bigger bang.

The GWOT, since its conceptualization 13 years ago, in the aftermath of 9/11, is the gift that keeps on giving. And no gift is bigger than a Transformer Al-Qaeda on steroids – bigger, brasher, and wealthier than anything Osama Bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri had ever dreamt of; the IS (Islamic State, formerly known as ISIS) of Caliph Ibrahim, former Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

US President Barack Obama, before deploying his golf holidays in Martha’s Vineyard, casually dropped that bombing the Caliph’s goons in Iraq will take months. One may interpret it as another layer of the Obama administration’s self-avowed “Don't Do Stupid Stuff” foreign policy doctrine, not so subtly mocked by prospective presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. Shock and Awe in 2003 destroyed the whole of Baghdad’s infrastructure in only a few hours.

Obama also confirmed the US was showering Iraq again with humanitarian bombing “to protect American interests” (first and foremost) and, as an afterthought, “human rights in Iraq.”

One could not possibly expect Obama to declare the US would now bomb “our” allies the House of Saud, who have supported/financed/weaponized IS, in Syria and Iraq. The same erstwhile ISIS that thoroughly enjoyed the marvels of US military training in a secret base in Jordan.

Obama also could not possibly explain why the US always supported ISIS in Syria and now decides to bomb them in Iraq. Oh, the perils of ‘Don’t Do Stupid Stuff’.

So a quick translation applies.

Obama’s bombing of the Caliph’s goons has absolutely nothing to do with US ambassador to the UN Samantha Power’s much beloved R2P (‘responsibility to protect’) doctrine – as in the responsibility to protect up to 150,000 Yazidis, not to mention Kurds and remaining Christians, from a ‘potential’ genocide carried out by the Caliph’s goons.

The whole fighter jets + drones bombing exercise, lasting ‘months’, has to do with the Benghazi syndrome.

The Caliph’s goons were dead set on conquering Irbil - the capital of Iraqi Kurdistan. The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) is led by the wily Massoud Barzani – a long-time US client/vassal.

The US maintains a consulate in Irbil. Crammed with CIA types. Or, as the New York Times so lovingly puts it, “thousands of Americans.”

Enter Benghazi. This is an electoral year. Obama is absolutely terrified of another Benghazi – which Republicans have been trying non-stop to blame on his administration’s incompetence. The last thing Obama needs is the Caliph’s goons killing ‘diplomats’ in Erbil.

That would certainly raise a tsunami of questions all over again about the shady CIA weapon-smuggling racket – as in arming Syrian ‘rebels’ with weapons from Libya - at the time Benghazi took place. As secretary of state, Hillary Clinton, of course, also knew about it all. But then, and especially now, no one should know that the CIA was weaponizing the bulk of the future Caliph’s forces.

Regime change or bust

Obama said this humanitarian bombing adventure could last “months,” but in fact it could last only days.

The price is cheap: regime change. As in former Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki blocked from having a third term.

That explains why all hell broke loose in Baghdad, as Iraqi parliamentarians clearly saw which way the wind is blowing. Haider al-Abadi was chosen by new President Fuad Masoum, a Kurd, as the new prime minister – hours after Maliki positioned Special Forces in strategic sites in and around the Green Zone and may (or may not) have tried to stage a coup. Maliki maintains that Masoum violated the Iraqi constitution by not selecting him to form a new cabinet; after all, his State of Law bloc got the most votes in last April’s parliamentary elections.

Obama, predictably, was delighted. But whatever happens next, Maliki won’t go down quietly – to say the least. Even as the predominant narrative among Sunnis, a substantial number of Kurds and even some Shiite political blocs is that Maliki antagonized Sunnis all-out; and that’s what drove them to support the Caliph en masse (although now many are having second thoughts.)

As for the KRG and Barzani, in the Obama administration scheme of things, what matters is that they should not declare independence. As long as Barzani promises to Obama that Kurdistan stays inside Iraq, the KRG will get more bombs and drones and the ‘humanitarian’ operation will speed up. US Special Forces are already deployed all over the huge area where the Caliphate borders the KRG, in so-called desert forward operating positions. And the US for all practical purposes is now the Iraqi Air Force against the Caliph.

Watch ‘the Hillarator’

This Obama administration warped R2P – protection for Americans first, refugees second – will accomplish nothing for a key reason; no bombing – ‘humanitarian’ or otherwise - exterminates a political/religious movement, even one as demented as IS. The Caliphate prospers, somewhat, and expands, because unlike that pathetic Free Syrian Army (FSA) it’s winning territory, desert and urban, in both Syria and Iraq; an area bigger than Great Britain already, holding at least 6 million people.

As for the much-peddled Washington myth of ‘good’ and ‘bad’ jihadists, the Caliphate also exploded it. Virtually every jihadi Washington - and Riyadh – weaponized and trained in Jordan and in the Turkey-Syria border is now among the Caliph’s goons, wallowing in cash raised from oil smuggling, hardcore blackmail and ‘donations’, and weaponized to their teeth after looting four Iraqi divisions and a Syrian brigade.

As for the GWOT gift, it will keep on giving in a bigger and bigger bang because of the dream narrative now displayed for every aspiring multinational jihadi; we are now defending our Caliphate from the mighty Crusader Air Force, no less.

The US lost the war in Iraq, miserably, only nine days after the fall of Baghdad, in April 2003. No ‘humanitarian’ bombing will turn it into a victory. And no ‘humanitarian’ bombing will finish the Caliphate off.

As for prospective presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, she’s taking no prisoners. She insists the US should have bombed Syria in the first place; then there would be no Caliphate. But now she worries the Caliph will attack Europe and even the US (“I’m thinking a lot about containment, deterrence and defeat”).

Predictably positioning herself, Clinton could not but totally dismiss Obama’s foreign policy doctrine, a.k.a. ‘Don’t do stupid stuff’: “‘Don’t do stupid stuff’ is not an organizing principle.” So the world will have to wait until 2017, when she’s finally able to implement her own doctrine/organizing principle: “We came, we saw, he died.”

Nigerian army’s massacre of Quds rally participants

Crescent-online, July 30, 2014

The zionists are slaughtering innocent Palestinians in Gaza while their agents around the world are busy killing those that protest such crimes. This is what happened in Nigeria when the army opened fire on Quds Day rally participants killing 25 instantly. Another 12 people were arrested and executed at an army compound. The dead included three sons of Mallam Ibrahim Zakzaky, leader of the Islamic movement in Nigeria, Zaria.

What kind of an army would fire live ammunition on unarmed peaceful protesters drawing attention to the barbaric Zionist onslaught on defenceless Palestinians and to the continued occupation of Masjid al-Aqsa?

Why, the Nigerian army that has close links with the illegitimate Zionist regime in Occupied Palestine. On Juy 25, the Nigerian army opened fire on peaceful Quds Day protesters killing 25 of them instantly. Scores of others were injured while at least 12 were arrested.

Those arrested were taken to the army camp and shot dead there before handing their bodies over to the families.

Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan, a clownish figure who goes around in bowler hat imitating the white man, is a Zionist puppet. In fact, the zionists have infested Africa’s most important country and both are involved in instigating religious warfare with the specific aim of weakening the Muslim majority.

Nigeria is riddled with corruption; Jonathan and his cronies have stolen billions from oil revenues. The country has the potential to be the power engine of Africa but its hapless people have been reduced to penury.

The Quds Day rally was organized by the Islamic movement of Nigeria led by the charismatic Sheikh, Mallam Ibrahim al-Zakzaky. He has been an outspoken critic of both the regime’s corruption as well as the terrorist outfit Boko Haram.

He lost three of his sons in the army shooting. Syed Mahmud Zakzaky was shot and martyred during the rally while another son was injured; two of his sons were arrested and later shot dead by the army together with the other detainees. Nigerian forces then bombed a mosque in Zaria on July 26 killing three persons.

This was followed on July 29 by two suicide bombers attacking open air mosques used by Mallam Zakzaky’s followers in Potiskum in Yobe State. Eight people were killed in this twin attack that occurred during evening prayers. The attackers were members of the Boko Haram terrorist outfit.
The assault by the Nigerian military on a peaceful Quds rally on July 25 and four days later the twin suicide bombings by Boko Haram on mosques confirms the nexus between the regime and the terrorist outfit.

There were Quds Day rallies in other Nigerian cities as well like Kano, Kaduna, Jos, Bauchi and Potiskum. They all went off peacefully. It is clear that the regime was determined to attack the leader of the movement Mallam Zakzaky in order to crush the growing strength of the movement.

He was the primary target of this criminal attack but the Sheikh survived while losing three of his sons. Given the regime’s complicity in such crimes, the soldiers were even more aggressive in shooting and killing people. Among the dead were also a woman and the baby she was carrying on her back. Both were shot and killed.

There was a massive funeral for the Quds Day martyrs in Zaria on July 30. The mood of the mourners was sombre but defiant in the face of regime’s brutality against innocent civilians who were doing no more than expressing sympathy with the oppressed people of Gaza and drawing attention to the continued occupation of Masjid al-Aqsa and the Holy Land by the Zionist invaders.

Over the years, Quds Day rallies have attracted large numbers of people in Nigeria. This year’s rally was particularly huge because of the ongoing Zionist assault on Gaza in which more than 1300 innocent Palestinians have been murdered since July 8.

The exposure of Zionist crimes in Gaza and of Jonathan’s subservience to the Zionists in Occupied Palestine was something the corrupt Nigerian president was not prepared to tolerate. The Nigerian regime felt vulnerable on three fronts: exposure of its massive corruption; its support for the terrorist group Boko Haram and exposure of its subservience to the Zionist regime.

Nigeria is consistently ranked as the most corrupt country in the world on the International Corruption Index.

The Quds day rally massacre in Zaria is unlikely to deter committed Muslims from continuing their struggle. Instead, it will arouse greater awareness among the people and increase their hatred of a corrupt regime that is driving Nigeria into an endless cycle of violence and bloodshed.

Quds Day massacre in Nigeria

by Zafar Bangash

August, 2014

The Nigerian regime of Goodluck Jonathan is not only corrupt but also completely subservient to the zionists. To prove loyalty to his masters, his army perpetrated a bloodbath of peaceful participants in the Quds day rally.

Zionist brutalities against defenceless Palestinians are bad enough; in some countries the regimes try to obstruct those that want to protest such crimes against humanity. Then there are other regimes that shoot and kill innocent protesters. This is what happened in Zaria, Nigeria where the army opened fire on peaceful Quds Day protesters on July 25 and killed 25 of them instantly. Scores of others were injured while at least 12 people were arrested. They were all shot dead at the military compound before handing over their bodies to the families. Why the Nigerian military perpetrated the massacre of innocent civilians?

Nigeria’s clownish President Goodluck Jonathan—he has brought anything but luck to the people of Nigeria—is a Zionist puppet. There is massive corruption in the country with Jonathan and his cronies stealing billions from oil revenues. Nigeria has the potential to be the power engine of Africa but its hapless people have been reduced to penury.

He is determined to instigate religious warfare between the Muslim majority and the Christian minority. The terrorist group Boko Haram is aided and abetted by his regime in order to demonize Islam and Muslims. Jonathan himself is a Christian as are most of the senior officers in the Nigerian military. It would not, however, matter whether the officers are Christian or Muslim; their commitment is to their own personal interests and survival.

The Quds rally in Nigeria was organized by the Islamic movement of Nigeria led by Mallam Ibrahim al-Zakzaky. He has been an outspoken critic of both the regime’s corruption as well as Boko Haram. He lost three of his sons in the army shooting. Syed Mahmud Zakzaky was shot and martyred during the rally while another son was injured; two of his sons were arrested and later shot dead by the army together with other detainees. Nigerian forces then bombed a mosque in Zaria in which three persons were killed on July 26.

This was followed on July 29 by two suicide bombers attacking open air mosques used by Mallam Zakzaky’s followers in Potiskum in Yobe State. Eight people were killed in this twin attack that occurred during evening prayers. The attackers were members of Boko Haram terrorist outfit.

It is clear that the regime was determined to attack the source: Mallam Zakzaky’s home base in Zaria in order to crush the growing strength of the movement. He was the target of this criminal attack but the Sheikh survived while losing three of his sons to the trigger happy soldiers that in any case have little regard for human life. Given the regime’s complicity in such crimes, the soldiers were even more aggressive in shooting and killing people. Among the dead were also a woman and the baby she was carrying on her back. Both were shot and killed.

There was a massive funeral procession for the Quds Day martyrs in Zaria on July 30.

Over the years, Quds Day rallies have attracted ever larger number of people in Nigeria. This year’s rally was particularly huge because of the ongoing Zionist assault on Gaza in which more than 1300 innocent Palestinians have been murdered since July 8. The exposure of Zionist crimes in Gaza and of Jonathan’s subservience to the Zionists in Occupied Palestine was something the corrupt Nigerian president was not prepared to tolerate any longer. In fact, the Nigerian regime felt vulnerable on three fronts: exposure of its massive corruption; its support for the terrorist group Boko Haram and exposure of its subservience to the Zionist regime. On the Corruption Index, Nigeria annually ranks among the most corrupt countries in the world. Goodluck Jonathan has done nothing to deal with the issue; in fact, it seems he does not even care. All he is interested in is keeping his grubby hands on the levers of power so that he and his cronies can continue to plunder state resources while keeping the overwhelming majority in extreme poverty.

Mallam Ibrahim Zakzaky is a charismatic leader who has spent many years in Nigeria’s notorious prisons under successive regimes. He has a huge following in the country and refuses to compromise with the country’s corrupt power brokers and rulers. He has not only called for investigation into official corruption but also demanded that people’s rights be respected. While this attracts ordinary people to his cause, it also arouses the wrath of the corrupt elements that feel vulnerable because increasing numbers of people are becoming aware of what is really going on in the country.

The Quds day rally massacre in Zaria is unlikely to deter committed Muslims from continuing their struggle. Instead, it will arouse greater awareness among the people and increase their hatred of a corrupt regime that is driving Nigeria into an endless cycle of violence and bloodshed. Neither the Nigerian military nor Boko Haram terrorists will be able to save the corrupt regime. In fact, it is difficult to tell which group is worse: Boko Haram or the Nigerian army in terms of killing innocent people.

Who is Abu Musab Al-Zarqawi? From Al-Zarqawi to Al-Bagdahdi: “The Islamic State” is a CIA-Mossad-MI6 “Intelligence Asset”

By Prof Michel Chossudovsky

Global Research, July 17, 2014

Al-Baghdadi

The following article first published ten years in June 2004 pertains to Abu Musab Al-Zarqawi, the legendary leader and founder of Al Qaeda in Iraq.

The name of this mysterious jihadist organization was later renamed the Islamic State of Iraq (ISI) and in 2013 it became the Islamic State of the Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), largely involved in terrorist attacks inside Syria,

In June 2014, the ISIL became The Islamic State (IS). The present leader and cleric of the Islamic State’s Caliphate is another mysterious figure called Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi, formerly also known as Dr. Ibrahim and Abu Du’a

Both Al-Zarqawi and Al-Bagdhadi are fabricated bogeymen.

While Al Qaeda leaders are routinely presented to World public opinion as “terrorist masterminds” threatening the “Free World”, what the media invariably fails to mention is that they were recruited and trained by the CIA, Mossad, Britain’s MI6 and Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) acting in liaison with its Western counterparts.

Al Zarqawi had been recruited by the CIA to fight in the Afghan war. This was confirmed by Secretary of State Colin Powell in his historic presentation to the UN Security Council on 5 February 2003.

Our concern is not just about these illicit weapons [WMDs]; it’s the way that these illicit weapons can be connected to terrorists and terrorist organizations…

But what I want to bring to your attention today is the potentially much more sinister nexus between Iraq and the Al Qaeda terrorist network, a nexus that combines classic terrorist organizations and modern methods of murder. Iraq today harbors a deadly terrorist network, headed by Abu Musaab al-Zarqawi, an associate and collaborator of Osama bin Laden and his Al Qaeda lieutenants.

Zarqawi, a Palestinian born in Jordan, fought in the Afghan War more than a decade ago [recruited by the CIA]. Returning to Afghanistan in 2000, he oversaw a terrorist training camp. One of his specialties and one of the specialties of this camp is poisons.

When our coalition ousted the Taliban, the Zarqawi network helped establish another poison and explosive training center camp, and this camp is located in Northeastern Iraq. You see a picture of this camp. Graphic, above. [there were no WMDS at this camp according to ABC report, see below] Colin Powell, UN Security Council, February 5, 20o3)

And now a new legendary terrorist leader of the Islamic State has emerged: Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi, who allegedly ordered the kidnapping and murder of the 3 Israeli teenagers (which served as a pretext to bomb Gaza) was trained by Mossad: “[He] took intensive military training for a whole year in the hands of Mossad, besides courses in theology and the art of speech.” (Gulf News, July 15, 2014)

The former employee at US National Security Agency (NSA), Edward Snowden, has revealed that the British and American intelligence and the Mossad worked together to create the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

Snowden said intelligence services of three countries created a terrorist organisation that is able to attract all extremists of the world to one place, using a strategy called “the hornet’s nest”.

NSA documents refer to recent implementation of the hornet’s nest to protect the Zionist entity by creating religious and Islamic slogans.

According to documents released by Snowden, “The only solution for the protection of the Jewish state “is to create an enemy near its borders”. (Gulf News, July 15, 2015)

Let us be under no illusions, the Islamic State is a CIA-Mossad creation. It is an intelligence asset.

The incursion of IS brigades into Iraq in June was part of a carefully planned military-intelligence operation supported covertly by the US, NATO and Israel. In Syria, the ISIL is said to be part of “opposition” fighting government forces. The Israeli military is directly supporting the ISIL out of bases in the occupied Golan Heights.

It is worth noting that the same strategy of using jihadist death squads to destabilize and foment violence in Iraq (including the numerous suicide attacks) was implemented by Washington from the outset of the US led occupation.

George W. Bush (June 2004 press Conference) candidly admits that the purpose of Al-Zarqawi’s “operational plan” was to sow “cold blooded killing”:

You know, I hate to predict violence, but I just understand the nature of the killers. This guy, Zarqawi, an al Qaeda associate — who was in Baghdad, by the way, prior to the removal of Saddam Hussein — is still at large in Iraq. And as you might remember, part of his operational plan was to sow violence and discord amongst the various groups in Iraq by cold- blooded killing. And we need to help find Zarqawi so that the people of Iraq can have a more bright — bright future. (George W. Bush, Press Conference, 1 June 2004, emphasis added)

originalWhat GWB does not mention is that Al Zarqawi is not “this guy”, he is “our guy”.

Paraphrasing president Bush, “[our] guy Zarqawi, [a CIA sponsored intelligence asset]… his operational plan, [acting on our behalf], was to sow violence and discord amongst the various groups in Iraq by cold- blooded killing.”

In 2004, the aggressor nations, namely the US and Britain “came to the rescue of the people of Iraq” “so that they can have a brighter future” under a counter-terrorism mandate at “the request” of the Iraqi interim government, in an agreement sanctioned by the UN. What is rarely mentioned by the media is that the US led military alliance has been supporting the Al Qaeda affiliated terrorists.

Washington’s unspoken objective remains “to sow violence and discord by cold blooded killing”.

And in late June 2014, the same scenario has emerged: the Islamic State (IS) has “invaded Iraq” and America –which is covertly supporting the Islamic State– is called to rescue.

The Islamic State rebels are America’s foot soldiers, generously funded by Qatar and Saudi Arabia:

The “War on Terrorism” consists in creating Al Qaeda terrorist entities as part of an intelligence operation, as well as also coming to the rescue of governments which are the target of the terrorist insurgency. This process is carried out under the banner of counter-terrorism. It creates the pretext to intervene.

ISIS is a caliphate project of creating a Sunni Islamist state. It is not a project of the Sunni population of Iraq which is broadly committed to secular forms of government. The caliphate project is part of a US intelligence agenda.

In response to the advance of the ISIS rebels, Washington is envisaging the use of aerial bombings as well as drone attacks in support of the Baghdad government as part of a counter-terrorism operation. It is all for a good cause: to fight the terrorists, without of course acknowledging that these terrorists are the “foot soldiers” of the Western military alliance. Michel Chossudovsky, The Engineered Destruction and Political Fragmentation of Iraq, Global Research, July 01, 2014

Al Qaeda is “Made in America” … lest we forget with the support of Israel. And this includes the entire network of Al Qaeda affiliates in a large number of countries.

Surely the revelations concerning the links of Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi to the Mossad, not to mention the overt support of ISIL by the Israeli military and the Netanyahu government should serve to refute once and for all the absurd proposition that Al Qaeda (including its affiliates) is an “independent entity” which threatens America and the Western World.

A revised version of the June 2004 article below was incorporated as a chapter in my book, America’s War on Terrorism, Global Research, 2005.

French Report ISIL Leader Mossad Agent

Simon Elliot, aka Al-Baghdadi, son of Jewish parents, Mossad agent

https://www.veteranstoday.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/isis_035-640x383.jpg

In French

Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, so-called ”Caliph,” the head of ISIL (Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant is, according to sources reputed to originate from Edward Snowden, an actor named Elliot Shimon, a Mossad trained operative.

Simon Elliot (Elliot Shimon) aka Al-Baghdadi was born of two Jewish parents and is a Mossad agent.

We offer below three translations that want to assert that the Caliph Al-Baghdadi is a full Mossad agent and that he was born Jewish father and mother:

The real name of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is “Simon Elliott.”

The so-called “Elliot” was recruited by the Israeli Mossad and was trained in espionage and psychological warfare against Arab and Islamic societies.

This information was attributed to Edward Snowden and published by newspapers and other Web sites: the head of the “Islamic State” Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, has cooperated with the U.S. Secret Service, British and Israel to create an organization capable of attracting terrorist extremists from around the world.

Source: Radio ajyal.com

Another source corroborates this statement, the site Egy-press:

With photo support, a Iranian media discovers the true identity of the Emir Daash, a trained Zionist agent.

Iranian intelligence discovered the true and full identity of the Emir Daash, which is known under the name Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi; his real name is Elliot Shimon. Its role in Mossad secret agent in the Zionist espionage. His false name: Ibrahim ibn Awad ibn Ibrahim Al Al Badri Arradoui Hoseini.

The plan: get into the military and civilian heart of the countries that are declared as a threat to Israel in order to destroy to facilitate thereafter, the takeover by the Zionist state on the entire area of the Middle East in order to establish Greater Israel.

Here are the borders of the Zionist project, the “Greater Israel” or “Eretz Israel” for short.

These facts confirm the first that came out a few days ago, confirming that the Caliph Rolex is sent to Israel to sow chaos in neighboring countries the Zionist entity. Please note that EIIL announced it a few days ago that, to want to now take the “barbarians Jews”, a reference to Zionists besiege Gaza.

Practice! Having devastated the area of Israel, it will now allow the Americans and the Israelis to show the fingers as bloody terrorists to shoot at faster to defend the Zionist state, while the same let them proliferate and act with impunity for over two months now. Prepare a project they probably from the famous Arab Spring with the destabilization of Iraq, Sudan, Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, Syria and Mali (among others). Clever!

Listen and listen again Bernard-Henri Lévy on these so-called Arab Spring:

After gathering the most fanatical of the world in one place, a veritable army of the devil is formed, filled with bloodthirsty murderers without mercy for their victims, they murder with a vengeance and in cold blood, filming their atrocities and relaying on social networks.

The bloodthirstiness of the Draculas is gradually assuming some dodgy facet. The goons are on the verge of being some bunch of consummate cooped cinch. Armchair journalism is assuming a new wave of obtuse witticism.

Everyday, all day, the mad mutts are clearly on a rampage. Desperate to earn their paycheck and court some worthlessly underserved favors from the criminal enterprise called Zionism and its yours obedient mélange of errands called Western Imperialism. The die-hard puppets are clearly at a lost. The script wasn’t playing as predicted. The Zionist infested regime of (in)security consultants have goofed…one more time. Before them is a phenomenon; too hot to handle and too cold to keep. Instead of “critical mass”, they ended up with a twinge of neigh at its neap.

Their antecedents are known to all and sundry by now. They are pathological liars notorious for mis… and dis-information, baseless allegations and half-truths. And that was what they took refuge in when their callousness was exposed and met with resounding condemnation world over. Thirty-three (33) preciously innocent lives were lost to the crude and primitive heartlessness of those paid to protect the citizens’ lives and property.

Yet the cold-blooded gangsters do not even have the decency to simply say sorry to the aggrieved and the wronged.

In spite of being the heartless musketeers that we have known them to be, the persecutors are becoming leaky and drippy by the day. Their dreads well founded, and justifiably so, knowing fully well that the true followers of Hussein will never ever pay allegiance to the Yazids of our time. That when Pharaoh attempted to get hold of Musa we all knew how the oceanic divine providence dealt a truly deadly blow to the scoundrel. And Musa was eventually saved.

What else do we need as an assurance that history will repeat itself if (and yes) we remain focused in spite of all manners of provocation?! The baby emperor, of recent seen in a fancy suit but most a time with a bowler hat may wish to take note. History will always repeat itself. We know. They know. And every right thinking student of history knows that to every Pharoah there shall be Musa. To every Yazid there will surely be Hussein. And no tonnages of Shamirs and Ibn Saads will ever make the Husein of our time loose focus and get provoked. And no any Ibn Murjanata will ever be able to throw any cog on the wheel that brings about a change for good and the betterment of this nation in particular, and the humanity in general.

If you appreciate this, then it will surely be much easier for you to understand what made one Shehu Dauda (as you pronounce dirts in Hausa?) becomes a willing hunting dog of Zionism at a rumour mill station called National Daily Newspaper. His figment of imagination captioned “My Sons Blood Cry For Vengeance” published on the said paper on Wednesday August 6, 2014 is just that. An illusion! A delusion!! A fantasy!!!

For the Zionist hirelings, bloodshed, ineptitude as well as being callously clueless is what is needed for them to derive, if not legitimacy from citizenry but acceptance from their imperialist masters. The hunting dogs of Zionism ably yet shamelessly personified by the fraud called leadership in this great nation will always live to fail in their evil machination against the Islamic Movement in Nigeria.

Press Release:

By Ibrahim Usman

While the people in Zaria are still mourning their dead, and nursing their injured from the recent shootings perpetrated by the Nigerian military at the end of the annual Quds Day peaceful procession, the assailants, having failed in their heinous act, and with growing evidences unmasking their faces, decided to execute further violence to save their faces. The National Daily newspaper, Lagos-based, had always been readily available and at hand to do the dirty work. This time around, it came up with a concocted and fabricated story laced with lies and insidious intent.

“My sons’ blood cry for vengeance” was the headline of the story published as a direct statement falsely attributed to Sheikh Zakzaky. This is not the first time the media has been used to target the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, in the attempt to justify state-sponsored terrorism.

Through the usual imaginary “highly informed sources” as its base and platform, the National Daily alleged that Sheikh Zakzaky plans to use violence to avenge the death of his three sons killed by the Nigerian military. It says “Highly informed sources disclosed to National Daily that El-Zakzaky, the leader of Islamic movement in Nigeria, in collaboration with Islamic fundamentalist organization oversea, has commenced plans to unleash new religious unrest across the country any moment from now. El-Zakzaky has also said that Nigeria will pay a price for shedding the blood of his children, during a protest march by the sect”.

One wonders what the National Daily is up to. Ever since after the unfortunate shootings in Zaria, there had been press conferences and interviews, as well as public statements by Sheikh Zakzaky, regarding the stance of the Islamic Movement on the issue. Since then, the Sheikh has been freely accessible to the press and public for condolence; National Daily was never at hand, and had not published a story on the issue. From far and near, objective views can easily be accessed and assessment made on the Islamic Movement and Sheikh Zakzaky through the Movement’s multi-lingua websites, as well as its English and Hausa newspapers. National Daily overlook all these and went ahead to publish an uncouth story devoid of professionalism.

Looking at the gravity of the dangerous allegation, it could not have been an idea of a mere reporter. It is a well calculated and formulated plan by the same people who committed the atrocities in Zaria, with the National Daily a tool and platform. In the face of the many relatively good stories published or aired by the media on the issue, what could have possibly be of benefit to just one reporter from the National Daily, out of many, by this dangerous allegation?: “National Daily learned that some Islamic faithful close to El-Zakzaky are allegedly working on plans to take violent actions reminiscent of the present Boko Haram insurgence in the country, having seized the initiative from their leader, El-Zakzaky”. It went further, through its faceless source to insinuate that, “Sheikh will make his enemies pay for the blood of his three sons. The faithful will not die in vain,” our source said"; adding: “Sheikh said the blood of his three sons is crying to heaven for vengeance… There is growing fear that El-ZakZaky, supporters may take up arms to protest the killing of El-Zakzaky's children, the same way Boko Haram sect took up arms against the Nigerian state when its leader Mohammed Yusuf was extra-judicially murdered by the Nigeria police…”

Obviously, the National Daily is sponsored by the military under a guided ready-made script to write its story to cover up the atrocities committed in Zaria, and commit further atrocities, having failed in the first stage. Any keen observer of the Quds Day shootings in Zaria will dismiss the report by the National Daily as a calculated mischief. For instance, the public could not have failed the read of the visit of the Group Chairman of Leadership Newspapers Sam Nda Isaiah, with contingent of journalists, where he commended Sheikh Zakzaky’s restraint thus: “We commend your leadership attribute and the dignity you exemplified. We wonder how many leaders could contain this and remain calm, even when they lost 3 of their children this way. We are very proud of this attribute. If leaders were like you, the world would have been a better place to live”.

Asked by Liberty Radio on what he intends to do, Sheikh Zakzaky replied: “I will not do anything that will bring about the loss of innocent lives in the society. The people did not kill my sons”. Premium Times online medium had also conducted an exclusive interview with the Sheikh and titled it, “Sheikh El-Zakzaky Says Sect Will Seek Legal Redress Against Military Onslaught”. Where was National Daily all this while?

The National Daily always appeared, only on such critical moments, to justify state-sponsored terrorism and bail Nigerian security out of its predicament. In 2009, National Daily was equally available to justify the shooting of two members of the Islamic Movement during the Quds Day peaceful protest by the Kaduna State police command, under Tambari Yabo Mohammed in Zaria on September 20. It said on its front page dated 25-27th September, 2009, “Kaduna boils again: Boko Haram, Shiite group plan massacre”. Like the present one, the story was based on falsehood. It tried to link the Islamic Movement with the so-called Boko Haram: “Members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria otherwise known as Shiite Movement, appeared ready to continue the Jihad began by the embattled Islamic group, popularly known as Boko Haram”.

We will not be surprised if in the near future we hear of a government sponsored group claiming to be members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria vowing to take revenge. We will not also be surprised if an anonymous press statement will start flying about with the same intent, for the stage has been prepared by the malicious publication by the National Daily. By this publication, the Nigerian may try to create its own “Shiite group”, the “restive followers who are already agitating”, to unfold its dangerous agenda.

As an act of civility, we call on the National Daily to immediately withdraw the story and offer unreserved apology. Failure to make such redress will prove that the newspaper is promoting culture of violence and terrorism, and will be accountable for its action through legal means.

Why Christians Must Stop Supporting Israel Against The Palestinians,

By Femi Aribisala

Femi Aribisala August 5, 2014

The God who created the heavens and the earth is also the God of the Palestinians.

Our very own Nobel laureate, Wole Soyinka, may not be a Christian, but in 1972 he made a statement that resonates with the heart of Christianity. He says: “The man dies in all who keep silent in the face of tyranny.” This statement is in congruence with the second commandment which requires Christians to love our neighbour as ourselves.

We are witnessing today a tyranny that has gone on for far too long: the oppression of the Palestinian people and their massacre by a wicked and evil Israeli government that has come to believe “might is right.” Before our very eyes on our television screens, computers and cell-phone, we are witnesses to the callous bombing of defenseless Palestinian men, women and children by an unscrupulous Israeli army.

It is past time for Christians to stop silently supporting the Israelis because of outdated biblical norms, and to come out in support of our Palestinian brothers and sisters.

Holocaust betrayal

It is a big indictment on Israel that a people who were subjected in the past to so much oppression and brutality; with six million of its people massacred in the German Holocaust; is now the one responsible for so much pain and anguish in others. By this reversal, Israel has become an enemy of our common humanity. Christians can no longer in good conscience keep silent as Israel continues in its oppression of God’s people, and in this senseless massacre of the innocent in Gaza.

For over 60 years, Palestinians have lived in abject poverty in refugee camps. The Israelis have instituted an apartheid system where their human rights are violated and their homes systematically demolished to make more room for Israeli settlements.

With the active collusion of the Egyptians, the Israelis have maintained the largest prison in the world in Gaza since 2007. 1.8 million Palestinians are locked in this cell, blockaded by land, sea and air. They are confined in abject poverty; denied basic human necessities. Their movement is restricted. Their economy is stunted. Their fishermen cannot even fish in their own waters.

This is the underlying cause of the current conflict. The Palestinians are frustrated but helpless. In exasperation, they fire home-made rockets into Israel from Gaza, in a pathetic attempt to signify their displeasure and perhaps orchestrate a break free from their gulag.

Occasionally they hit some target and even harm or kill somebody. In retaliation, the Israelis respond disproportionately with surface-to-air missiles and laser-guided smart bombs. While the Israelis rely on the protection of the sophisticated Iron Dome defense-shield sold to them by the Americans, the Palestinians have nothing but the human-shield of their own civilian population. This is routinely disregarded by the Israelis who have little or no qualms about killing the defenseless.

Disproportionate responses

The Israelis insist their disproportionate responses are designed to teach the Palestinians a lesson, and to make them think twice before firing new rockets into Israel. However, the peace they seek to enforce is illusory, especially since their idea of peace would still retain the Palestinians in jail with the Israelis and the Egyptians as their jailers.

The current conflict arose over the abduction and murder of three Israeli teenagers. In retaliation, the Israelis have massacred Palestinians. According to reports, many of those killed are children. When they are not maimed or killed by made-in-America bombs, they are ravaged by malnutrition and lack of medicine. As a result, a voice is heard this time in Gaza. It is another Rachel weeping for her children, and refusing to be comforted because they are no more.

The average age of those living in Gaza is 17 years. More than half of them are under 16. This civilian population is defenseless, densely packed into this besieged enclave with no place to run or take refuge from Israel’s indiscriminate military onslaught. The Palestinians have become sitting ducks to Israeli military might, with no place to hide.

This is outrageous. The implication here is that the lives of Palestinians are not important. By a jaundiced Israeli calculus, the life of one Israeli is equal to those of hundreds of Palestinians. That is why in avenging the mysterious death of three Israelis, thousands of Palestinians are now dead. But by a cruel hand of fate, the Israelis themselves have sustained scores of losses.

Targeting schools

The Israelis have bombed the most incongruous of neighbourhoods. Locations like hospitals, clinics, refugee-camps, mosques and churches, which are normally off limits to warring factions, have become fair game for them. Even ambulances and medical-workers have not been spared. Israeli forces shelled an open market in the Shujaiya neighborhood of eastern Gaza City. This became the site of a grisly massacre.

Worse still are the Israeli attacks on schools. They bombed a United Nations school in the city of Jabalia in northern Gaza, killing many innocent Palestinians. Over 3,000 displaced persons were taking refuge there. Little did they know they were facing an enemy that would make even schools its target. Inevitably, according to reports, some of the victims were children; killed as they slept beside their parents on classroom floors.

In spite of the international outcry that followed this atrocity, the Israelis went head to bomb yet another U.N. run school in Southern Gaza. As far as the Israelis are concerned, the Palestinians have no rights. Their children are not human-beings.

Crime against humanity

Clearly, the Israelis are bent on destruction in Gaza. They have bombed the only power-plant in this sliver of a territory, plunging the entire place into darkness. As a result, even the injured cannot receive proper care in the strained and over-burdened clinics and hospitals. Mobile-phone networks were damaged or destroyed, ensuring that Gaza is effectively cut off from the outside world. Internal communication is also virtually non-existent.

This siege on Gaza has gone on for the better part of a month, bringing untold hardship and suffering to the Palestinians. Nearly 2,000 Palestinians, have been killed so far, many of them women and children. Over 10,000 others have been injured. According to the United Nations, over 240,000 Palestinians have since been displaced.

U.N. Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon called Israeli action in Gaza “a moral outrage and a criminal act.” Pierre Krahenbuhl, a U.N. Commissioner, observed that Israel’s brutality is “an affront to all of us, a source of universal shame.” UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Navi Pillay, declared the Israeli offensive “a deliberate defiance of international law.” The UN Human Rights Council passed a resolution calling for an independent probe into Israel’s war crimes in Gaza.

Impetus for terrorism

Israeli heavy-handedness is a major headache for international peace and security. Israeli atrocities in the Middle East are fueling the Boko Haram and other incidences of world-wide terrorism counterfeited in the name of Islam. As long as the Palestinians continue to be denied of fundamental human rights and of their homeland, there can be no peace in the Middle East and beyond.

The United States pretends to be an honest-broker in the conflict, but in fact is now a hostage to the Israeli
cause. Israel flouts American pressure, confident it can always rely on the Jewish lobby in the United States to keep American governments firmly tethered to Israeli apron-strings. The Americans give Israel sophisticated weapons which are tested and used on hapless Palestinians. How then can they faithfully broker peace?

Christian response

In the context of this slaughter, Christians cannot continue to be silent. Christians must wake up from the slumber of knee-jerk support of Israel. Gone are the days when the enemies of the people of Israel were all expendable in the pages of the bible. Palestinians must not be confused for Amalekites or Jebusites that can be exterminated as a result of so-called divine ordinances. They deserve to have a place to call their own.

God is the God of all flesh; he is not just the God of Israel. We must stop subscribing to the Zionist Jewish propaganda that the Jews are God’s chosen people. God is not a respecter of persons and he is not a respecter of peoples. The God who created the heavens and the earth is also the God of the Palestinians. Therefore, Christians everywhere must all rise up and with one voice condemn the massacre of Palestinians that is going on even as we speak.

The world is in a drought. It is rich in money, but short of mercy. There are more dollars outside the United States than in the United States. It is nigh impossible to mop up the funds. But while the world is awash with money, it is short of goodness. It is lacking in righteousness, truth and compassion. Thus, Isaiah laments: “Justice is turned back, and righteousness stands afar off; for truth is fallen in the street and equity cannot enter” (Isaiah 59:14).

The Palestinians are in dire need of Christian compassion. The Israelis are in dire need of the righteousness of God. The people of this world need the truth. Since God birthed his children for his glory, it is our responsibility as those Christians who are truly children of God to provide what the world lacks. Our task is to salt the earth. We salt it with the riches of the kingdom of God. We are called to be merciful, compassionate, holy, righteous, truthful, honest, faithful, and just.

The Abrahamic covenant does not exclude the Palestinians. It includes them. Indeed, some Palestinians are Christians; but that is really irrelevant here. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict should not be seen simplistically as one between the Judeo-Christian tradition and Muslims. It must be seen properly as a conflict between the strong and the weak. It must be seen as conflict between the oppressor and the oppressed.

In biblical days, the Israelites were the oppressed in Egypt, and God sent Moses with a message to Pharaoh to “Let My People Go.” Today, the roles have been reversed. The Israelis are the new Pharaohs. The Palestinians are those that must be set free. Christians the world over must lend our heart and our voice to Palestinian freedom.

Written by Kabir Mato matokabir@yahoo.com

Last week Friday was phenomenal. It was a day that several young people were summarily executed by Nigerian soldiers while conducting an annual ritual, which I have seen and lived with in my part of Nigeria for more than 30 years.

By the way, I went to school in Zaria in 1979 after I had completed my secondary education in Kaduna. About that time, the Iranian revolution, which ousted the government of Shah Reza, was dethroned and hoisted Ayatollah Ruhullah Khomeini as the spiritual leader of the new Islamic Republic was just completed.

The hostilities of the United States of America and Western Europe over the new development was monumental and what we had all over the Muslim world was the deliberate campaign of calumny and destruction against the new order by the established western and Jewish traditions which saw the new reality in Tehran as fundamentally destructive to not just western civilization but the Jewish mantra of Nazism and by implication the state of Israel.

Wahabism became the darling of the west and many scholars and leaders of the sect were deliberately hired to propagate falsehood and disaffection against the Iranians, their sect and leadership which consequently poisoned the minds of millions of Muslims across the globe on what reality was Iran and the essence of the revolution in relation to the much needed independence and relevance of Muslim world in global and religious affairs.

The march just like the one of last Friday has been traditional since the early 1980s and I remember very well that many a times, the previous military regimes did interfere with such processions, which led to the arrest and even imprisonment of several members of the sect but never was any life rudely taken. What remains very clear is that anytime the sect was involved in any insurrection, the truth was that they were never the originators of any of the uprisings and or upheavals.

Many a times they were attacked without any provocation by government forces. If anything, they have been a very peaceful religious movement in Nigeria whose growth over the years was astronomical and I challenge any of my readers to come forth with any contrary to this brief statement on the Muslim Brotherhood Movement.

The group has been given several names among which is Shiites. I do not know what they are but what I do know is that they are very organized and peaceful. Why would the soldiers simply gun down several of these people while conducting peacefully a tradition that has outlived the Jonathan administration?

The killings in Zaria on friary last week was premeditated and a gross insult and abuse on the rights of Nigerians to freely associate and worship without molestation. It was a provocation, which if care is not taken could lead to more serious unfortunate developments in the country possibly worst than the one we are facing at the moment.

For God’s sake has President Jonathan got any right to shoot and kill any Nigerian just like that? Why would an Army Officer no matter his ranking supervise over such a massive manslaughter of innocent citizens among which are very young promising Nigerians?
So sectarianism in Islam is forbidden by current Nigerian government or what am I hearing from the powers that be? Islam like other religions has sects and sects are a reality in every religion and by the way, what is responsible for this outrage and massacre? I think every Nigerian whether Christian or Muslim must stand firm and not just condemn this act but ensure that those responsible must be brought to book no matter their standing in the society.

For sure those who committed this act are barbaric and must be made to answer for this otherwise, we all are not safe. It is not about any one sect it is about everybody and everybody is therefore not safe if an army officer or some other rank could simply open fire on any gathering. No where else in this world could this happen and those responsible go unchallenged and unattended to and any claim by so called human right groups if this remains unattended to will further embolden those whom we pay from our taxes to carry arms to continue to massacre us without any reason or provocation.

The government in Abuja must act with dispatch and necessary precision in order to avoid possible backlash and protect the lives of innocent citizens from such barbarism now and in the future. Action must be in public domain because the usual ‘we are on top of the situation’ stance of government on such and other similar issues may at the end of the day go unchallenged and the crime unattended to while the criminals may go scot-free. This is dangerous to Nigeria as a nation.

I use this forum to condole with Sheikh Ibrahim Elzakzaky, a peaceful Islamic personality who has been a victim of Nigerian state many a times. A leader of a sect that has often been provoked by the sate and has remained clam and focused. My condolences also to the families of those brutally killed by the senseless soldiers who believe they can commit such a crime against humanity and walk away.
Nigeria cannot survive under such an atmosphere of impunity by those who should live by the statutes. We all are in trouble and must rise to ensure that we protect ourselves from this type of arbitrariness of the state and its coercive apparatuses.
