That's not even the truth of it. The truth is the Church is already subject to the government as per being the authority of the land, and the custodians of our national sovereignty. If a Church wants to build a property, don't they get approval from govt? If they build on their own, won't the building the pulled down and the Church sanctioned like everyone else? The financial records of the Church, is the government not seeing it already? We have financial monitoring laws in place in the country and the govt has access to banking records through the banks as a regulatory policy. So it is not about auditing. How did Govt know Magu's pastor got hundreds of millions from Magu or his company or source or whatever that the news reported about if not that they had access to monitor people's bank accounts. This law is about political blackmail to subdue the Church whose social influence on society has skyrocketed beyond belief. No, an evil government is not always a reflection of the society, or it's people. South Africa was under apartheid for over half a century, was that a reflection of their people or society? Christians and the church are supposed to obey the laws of the land and constituted authorities. Remember, the Bible says, give unto Caeser what belongs to Caeser and under God what belongs to God.
