Povetkin is like a white boy Mike Tyson, a very well rounded and competed boxer with aggressive attack pattern, always pushing forward. But he just lacks punching power. Assuming he had punching power, he would have beaten AJ and Klitschko |
AltCtrlDel:Povetkin is a very very skillful boxer. His only disadvantage is reach and punching power. If those 2 factors where on his side, Povetkin will rule the heavyweight division for a long time. The guy has the complete boxing skills set mehnnn. |
SegFault:There's nothing likable about Nero. He was the most brutal and wicked emperor of the Roman empire, and outside of the Roman empire, Nero can easily be ranked among one of the top 30 brutal dictators in the entire history of humanity. I can't like someone like that. |
Waylex21:yes, the Persians at this age (or Iranians today and Assyrians in the ancient world of Abrahamic era) invented crucifixion. The Persians were conquered by the Greeks; and the Greeks were conquered by the Romans . |
The Democrats are too desperate. They have nothing to campaign with that can beat Trump, so they have to resort to all kinds of smear tactics. Mtchwwwwwww, Joe Biden cannot beat Trump in November. |
Let's be clear about this: Buharists didn’t have money; they only had ideas, zeal and fanaticismThey have the poorest ideas of governance They have an unprecedented zeal for oppression And a crazy fanaticism about religion and cows Now, like Buhari, they want to package Tinubu. We are not super stupid. Tinubu's pattern of presidency will be exactly the same pattern of his governorship, and proxy governorship after he left governor office more than 12 years ago. Agbero mafia political structure. How can any right mind want that kind of person to become president? He has his good sides don't get me wrong, but the implications of the "little dark side" he has overshadows the prospects of whatever his good side can deliver. If the Southwest is talking about 2023 Presidency, they should be talking about a presidential candidate like Akinwumi Adeshina, the AFDB president. |
Another Roman history lesson: people sometimes wonder: why were the Roman soldiers mostly brave and courageous in the battlefield and fought so skillfully. Well, it was because of the CRUCIFIXION. They fought like that as a matter of necessity because for them sudden death on the battle field was a better option than crucifixion, and that gives you an idea as to how painful crucifixion truly is. Deserters in the Roman army would be crucified and that's why the soldiers trained extra hard to be the best they could be and face death at battlefield. The fear of Crucifixion was a big motivation ![]() |
TheBedWench:Not all first century were "Black" rulers. Emperor Septimius, Emperor Severus, Emperor Aemilian, Emperor Macrinius, Emperor Caracalla (son of Severus) and Emperor Geta (younger brother of Caracalla) were Roman citizens born in Roman provinces in Africa. They are "Black" but not your traditional kind of Bantu black people like us in Nigeria or Ghana or Cameroon, Congo, Zimbabwe etc The roman empire spanned across North Africa, so these black Romans were like dark versions of North Africans (Libya Morocco etc). Appearance wise, they look partially different from us in a sense of it. They are "Berber" blacks, not Bantu black people like us. But anyhow, I agree with u sha, dat there were Black emperors. Cuz we shouldn't be dividing black people with stupid demographics, Black is Black, whether Bantu, Berber, Moor or Habasha or whatever else distinctions there is. |
Too bad human history is not being taught in this part of d world. History is really good. It helps us to avoid the mistakes of the past or correct it, otherwise we are bound to repeat it. And that's why Nigeria keeps having useless governments with useless leaders, because Nigerians never learn from history. We are busy watching BBN, then when elections come we vote for our oppressors again ![]()

The pix below is the scourge whip and d man in d pix is someone flogged with the scourge whip. If the scourge whip that has no sharp metal endings can do this level of damage to the skin, then what a Roman flagrum whip can do is best imagined, rather than experienced. Jesus was flogged with the flagrum whip. He was totally disfigured by the beating. It was the beating Isaiah was describing here: Isaiah 52:14 New International Version: "Just as there were many who were appalled at him -- his appearance was so disfigured beyond that of any human being and his form marred beyond human likeness--"
|
sircatherine45:I forgot to mention, sometimes in extreme cases of condemnation by the State, the person to be crucified was beaten half to death before being crucified, beaten with roman whips called flagrum, these were not your regular whips made of leather. They were modified whips made of leather but had sharp metal plates or teeths like barb wire attached to the whip end of the leather whip. So every time they whip, they was a likelihood the whip would pierce the person's flesh and stick to the body, then as the soldier pulls back the whip so he can flog again, the whip pulls and tears the person's flesh. So based on this pattern, the more the soldier whips, the deeper into the skin the sharp metal goes and tears out more inner flesh or meat. So at the end of the beating, the person will be totally disfigured. They don't flog the back alone, they flog everywhere. After such a beating, the person will be unrecognizable as plenty of his flesh has been torn out of his skin in a corned beef kind of way.

SegFault:thank God he died at 30 yrs. Imagine if that devil ruled till he was 80. Sometimes, when u look at it critically from a certain perspective, you realize that death is a blessing to humanity in certain situations. It makes u understand why God drove Adam and Eve out of Eden and put an angel with a flaming sword to guard the tree of life. Imagine if someone like Nero couldn't die? Or imagine someone like Borrowhari being president for 200 years. Ordinary 5 years, $1 already = N470, bag of rice as high as N35k..... Thank God ohhhh ![]() |
SegFault:he show them pass shege . The great Apostle Paul stood under trial by Nero, abandoned, no "lawyer" or "defense counsellor", only him and his God and he survived . But locked in a dungeon. I can't say for certain who the wisest apostle is, but surely without any doubt, the bravest Apostle was Paul, because when he stood face to face with the most evil ruler on Earth, he preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ to Nero, to the point d guy confuse and sent him to the dungeon instead of sudden execution that every one was expecting , damn! Whether it was Nero that killed him or not, it is not 100% certain. But scholars typically say Nero killed Paul and Peter. If by any chance that is true, then u know the kind of evil person he is. Someone that set a fire in Rome and then accused the Christians of doing it just so he could massacre them. He massacred Christians like chicken. Possibly the greatest persecution Christianity has ever faced post AD period. Nawa. D guy must be roasting in the deepest parts of hell. |
A little history lesson: it was the Romans that crucified Jesus, crucifixion was a common practice in Rome because it was meant to set an example to the public to be a deterrent to committing crimes against the State. They are nailed to a tree at a high position off the ground or nailed to an erected high wooden pole for all to witness. The victims don't die immediately, it takes several hours, some even days, depending on the weight of the condemned and how much the puncture on the vein arteries was when the tornado-grade steel nails were hammered through the hands and feet, and blood leaked out slowly and life drained out of the body step by step, the victim gradually getting weaker as time went by and the vision starts to black out due to lack of sufficient flow of blood to the brain as the blood pressure continues dropping. The weight of the body being pulled down by gravity keeps excruciating pain flowing through the nerve endings to the brain, back and forth like a swinging pendulum. And oh yes, let's not forget the scorching burns of the sun burning on their exposed skin, and the heat wave of the perambulating winds. And this is why crucifixion is among the most painful ways to die. Like dying a dozen deaths at once. It was a biophysics engineering kind of death. The Romans were so brutally intelligent ![]() |
stormborn28:Ceasar Augustus Gaius Octavius / vian. Dudes name was really funky . In short, all d Roman names are funky. When next I have a baby, I will name my 3rd son Trajan. Like this thread is so woooooooow. But I wish they could have gone a little bit more back in time and showed me the real rendition face of the incredible man that ruled the entire world, that brought order to Rome and built the most disciplined army in the world that would rule most of the known world for another half a thousand years after his death. Now that is what you call a freaking legacy. Chaiiiii! Show me the face of the one and only Greatest Roman Emperor, The Great Emperor Trajan . The Roman history is something that should be taught in all countries of rhe World, because they gave the world the system of democracy we practice today, they gave us the foundation of modern civilization. A country that placed so much value on its citizens, it was a thing of great pride to be called a Roman citizen. You were respected and feared by others. At the peak of their reign, it was forbidden for outsiders to arrest, put on trial and punish a Roman citizen. You had to send him back to Rome for trial ans punishment. Na those ones be country mehnnn. America is the closest country in the World today to what Rome was in its glory. Long live The United States of America. |
Emperor Pius, another good guy. A philosopher and teacher ![]()
|
Emperor Augustus, one of the most powerful ones and descendant of the mighty, nephew of The Great Julius Caesar himself. Chaiiii, Roman history is sweeeet like
|
VeeVeeMyLuv:Because he was a philosopher at heart ![]() |
Severus Alexander, one of the WEAKest emperors ![]()

Look at Marcus Aurelius, wow , as in history can be sweet men. If u have watched the Gladiator movie, u should know a bit about Marcus Aurelius. Although the movie wasn't themed about him, but it still have some little insight to his reign as a Roman emperor. He was one of the good ones.
|
Look at Nero, the great Emperor that subdued the Church. When I read about this guy, it was almost as if he was a demi-god, the kind of control and power he had.
|
Oh my God, am in luv with this thread ![]() |
Wow, just wow |
ekerintee:D thing is, u are seeing part of the pix, but not the whole pix. "Church culture" died in Europe several decades ago. And Europe was predominantly a "godless" society. Most Churches were either shutdown completely and the ones that still existed, existed mainly as hibernating Religion carcasses and historical structural decorations to their community. But then suddenly a Christian revival sparked across Europe, driven mainly by Foreigners, black Africans, especially Nigerian pastors. And Christianity became prominent again. Many of the big Churches across Europe are not HQ or founding Churches. They are mostly branches of already founded Churches in places like Nigeria, USA etc. By general Church adminstrative practices, branches remit money back to the HQ, just like in Nigeria, where branch churches send money to the GO church, as much as 80% or more in some Churches. That was the same practice for the new Churches that sprang up across Europe and they were sending huge money back to Africa. For some mega Churches the money was so huge that the govt or insiders believed those churches must be into crime, that it can't be offering and tithes or whatever generating such huge funds they were sending and repatriating back to their HQs. Because Europe was not used to mega Churches or huge population churches, so having huge money from tithes and offerings was not something their Church system was familiar with. For example, Christ Embassy had this same problem in South Africa and they accused them of being drug dealers using Church as cover up, because the money CE SA was sending to CE NIG was huge. They launched investigation on them but didn't find any drugs or drug money . Back to Europe story, this was the case too. So in Europe, auditing laws were introduced to verify that the source of funds the Churches were repatriating was genuine, and also as a money laundering check system, so that they could stop them from sending too much money out of their system. That's the history behind it. It is not the case with CAMA. It is designed to oppress the Church here and make them dance to their evil schemes. Do you know under this law they can change the board of trustees of the Church? It empowers them to control church leadership. This is the goal. But some Christians are too ignorant of reality. They can't c beyond to their nose. The frog that makes a snake its friend will end up in the belly of the snake. No 2 ways about it. |
Grandeza:Me Chairman sir, the people know wassup, they are just pretending. They have always been against the Church in secret but they have gotten bolder now and they have been dying for the chance when they no longer have to pretend they have a mission to subdue the Church in Nigeria. And when i say Church, I don't mean all those old Anglican and Methodist, Catholics etc parishes. Those ones were subdued a long time ago and are merely existing as decorations. The guys they want to subdue are the new generation type of Churches. The ones like Oyedepo and Oyahkilome, and MFM and Chosen, TB Joshua etc. The ones giving the devils ruling this country sleepless nights with their fiery prayers and unending crusades. The ones who are dreamers and achievers that embark on incredible projects like Private Universities and own investments and own private jets and shaking up the town making good things happen and winning souls like crazy. He dey pepper dem. They want the youths to be going from one shrine to another doing juju and serving idols like majority of d political class, butnthe youth are turning up for Jesus by the thousands week in week out. These "stupid" Christians are too bold and daring, they are just pushing into every corner. They must be stopped. That's where we are today. Persecution is expected. No be new thing. The only painful part is to see some so called Christians who are just so stupid and daft to the point they will blindly support those who are trying to put them in chains. For months, they shut down churches but open markets that are 1 million times more rowdy and more populated. Some mumu Christians said it was good, they don't need to go to Church before they can serve God. But they missed the point. The point is they intentionally trampled on religious freedom. Ok na, keep ceding and giving up your fundamental rights of religous freedom to the enemy. Later when they ban you from reading Bible, be happy and say that you don't need to read Bible before u worship God...... mtchwwwwwww. That's what happens when people don't know history. The freedoms we have today people paid with their blood to secure it for us and we just gonna throw it away like Esau threw his birthright away and said it doesn't matter. He didn't know the value of his birthright, same way we don't know the value of the religious freedom we are enjoying. There was a time in this world Christians had to meet in underground caves, when Christians couldn't identify themselves publicly as Christians for few of being killed. It was hell. In some parts of the world like China etc, religous freedom is not guaranteed. Muslims are being oppressed and killed, Christianity is forbidden. Internet broadcasts IP transmissions are blocked, u can't even watch on the internet. Yet we have religious freedom here but some Christian people are rejoicing that this freedom I gradually being attacked inch by inch. Give d devil one kilometer, he will travel a distance of 1000 light-years. Freedom is the most abused word in this world. Just because it is called "Freedom" doesn't mean it is "Free". Freedom is never free. People paid with their lives and blood for it. So any freedom u are enjoying, just know that some brave men and women maybe decades or centuries or millenniums ago paid the ultimate sacrifice so others coming after them can enjoy it. The religous freedoms we have must not be given up, otherwise our ancestors that gave their lives so we can have it, we are telling them to their faces and to their graves, that they died for nothing. May that never happen under my watch. I will rather die a free man knowing you couldn't take my freedoms away from me, than live as a willing free prisoner who is free to explore life only within the boundaries of the box his oppressors have put him inside. His hands and legs are free but his mind has been chained. No, not me! |
eaz:when u pipu want to misfire and summersault to introduce wickedness, u will be quoting abroad. But when it comes to us citizens enjoying dividends of democracy that d abroad pipu are enjoying, una type dey turn to deaf and dumb, see no evil hear no evil. u are always referencing abroad only when it comes to making alibi to cover up for wicked deeds. So I won't even bother to try to explain the critical differences and implementation implications between a shithole govt and civilized govt as regards financial audits of Churches. When ur useless govt starts paying unemployment benefits and tax refunds like UK and America does, then we can talk. When ur horrible govt start paying 80% of salaries of citizens who lost their jobs due to Coronavirus pandemic, then we can talk. When ur nonsense govt starts proposing to pay every citizen under 55 years old £10,000 in 2 years (£5K per year), then we can talk. Until den, u and ur evil govt should take ur hands from Churches necks. Let us breathe pls. Abi una wan kill us join all d killings wey una dey do across dis country? Kekereekun123:because they will bully and force their way to get preferential treatment through the back door. Look at Nairaland, for example, you can't comment on a Muslims thread without swearing allegiance to Allah and Mohammed on your profile; BUT Muslims can comment anywhere without swearing allegiance to anybody. Do u know why? They bullied Seun to submission. Don't let d 2019 on this account fool u. Ah b old timer for Nairaland. There was a time here nobody had to swear an oath of allegiance on their profile before commenting on Muslims thread. They bullied their way to have it. Why did Seun yield? Cuz he is a business man and he did it to protect his business. Why will the govt yield for them? Cuz they control majority of govt. It is will be too easy. Even the blind should know that Churches are the main target of CAMA, not Mosques and certainly not Traditionalists and Witch covens spread across this country. |
porka:u dey mind dat one? Mtchwwwwwww. |
Kekereekun123:Oga don't be half clever. CAMA is not the end game. Taxation of religious institutions (Churches especially) is the end game. CAMA is just a means to that end. Once the Federal scammers get their prying eyes into financial inflow of Churches, the next thing they will introduce is taxation. Because your govt is looking for more pockets to rob to maintain their opulent and wasteful lifestyle of living like emperors in the land. So they need more funds. Same way LASG when they got their eyes into how much e-hailing companies were making, next thing na jumbo tax they slammed on them, and it came under the disguise of regulating the e-hailing business. But the ones they saw they couldn't implement tax on without it backfiring on their head, they shut them down aka Gokada and friends. CAMA is nothing but a step towards taxing religious bodies. Freedom of Worship is a fundamental human rights and religous bodies fall under NON PROFIT organization anywhere in the world. Taxation of religous bodies is equal to religious oppression |
