Aliabe was a preferred candidate to most Bayelsa elderstatesmen including GEJ. Beign a man held in high esteem by his people, he would have used his influence to sway the votes in the favour of Ndutimi Alaibe. APC leaders visit to the elderstatesman proves that they couldnt have achieve their success without his support.
The voting pattern too. In Ogbia for example, -home of GEJ, APC won a landslide which is unprecedented beign the home council of GEJ and PDP stronghold ever since the creation of Bayelsa. Evidently because, his kinsmen saw it as a slight by Dickson on their own blood. Even in Kolga voter turn out was low, and the few that voted, did mostly in favour of APC, it is no suprise as this is the LGA of Ndutimi Alaibe, so KOLGAns said if its not our kinsman I won't cast my vote.
The election could have still gone either way, pdp would have had a big say in the outcome, but for Dickson selfish intrest it was one sided. This election was a revolution against impending god-fatherism in Bayelsa.

I used Governor makinde because he was never expected to defeat an APC Candidate in a state where APC is well structured....however he governs the state properly not because he is a PDP member,but because of his leadership qualities and the very fact that he already has a successful business!

Most of the citizen know Douye Diri but not everyone knows Lyon!
Why Diri was made to be unpopular was because he was the one fronted by the Governor against the wishes of GEJ and other party elders and secondly,he was perceived as someone who would continue from where Dickson stops when he becomes governor!
Hence,the people of the state chose to vote for an unknown Lyon hoping he will present a different kind of leadership style!
This has absolutely nothing to do with party lines!

Had Alaibe become the flagbearer,PEJ would have pleaded with sylva and her godson to chill until Alaibe completes his tenure as governor...but the failure of pdp to present alaibe,made it easier for Lyon to gain popularity overnight!
Who was Lyon four or five months ago.....? A relatively unknown guy politically was made popular based on stupidity of an emperor Governor who saw himself as a future godfather in bayelsa!
Had alaibe won as pdp flagbearer,all those structures that defected to APC would have stayed in PDP
Dickson thought he had the political structures,hence he boasted and claimed he didnt need anyone....it was after the results that he knew he had nobody!

Dickson performed poorly, then strong and wealthy grassroot politicians like Timi Alaibe were humiliated in favor of an unknown.
This is why PDP lost. GEJ factor was not there except in his ogbia community.

Agreed,Dickson performed abysmally which was explicitly highlighted in my last statement!

Secondly,Timi Alaibe was fronted by the Ex President which was out-rightly rejected by Dickson!

You can go against other elders of the state but not a well known personality like the ex-President who single-handedly brought you out of the assembly and made you a Governor by fiat!

Rather,he ignored the request from GEJ and made it known to anyone who cared to listen that his words are LAW and no one can say otherwise even an ex-president!

That was the beginning of the Fall of PDP in Bayelsa!

See politics is local...if you fail to get it right in the grassroot level,everything will fall apart no matter your best intentions!

Also when GEJ was absent from the PDP rally,it led the people of Bayelsa to believe all was not well between the ex-President and the Governor based on Dickson's insistence to have his way over a man who first brought him to the limelight...this led to a massive defection from PDP to APC!

Saying the GEJ factor was only involved in Ogbia LGA is laughable and also shows you are really not on ground at Bayelsa!

Come to the state and hear what the generality of the citizens are saying and stop watching or listening to uninformed political analysts from media platforms!

GEJ never attended the final PDP rally where Diri was to be presented as PDP governorship flagbearer!

It was indeed a masterstroke but very risky!
If this plan had gone south,GEJ would have gone into oblivion!

Yes ohh PEJ never hid her intention to campaign for Lyon(her supposed godson) after the attempt to sell Alaibe as the flagbearer of PDP to Dickson failed ...there are so many things that happened before the election that many including Dickson was unaware of...

One thing is certain,GEJ gave Dickson a political uppercut that Dickson is still trying to recover from...in boxing,its called TKO!
....GEJ may seem naive or clueless as many people may think,but he is well aware of what he is doing and only time will tell!

Being the very personality that brought Dickson to where he is today,the least Dickson should have done is respect and listen to him as it regards the next flagbearer...Bayelsa PDP were in unism with GEJ about fronting alaibe as the next Governor to replace Dickson based on his popularity and vast knowledge of governance!

However,Dickson refused and even told GEJ to his face that he doesn't need to answer to anyone like he has always done before and would prefer and choose Diri ,who was rumoured to be his cousin, as the next Governor of the state!

Senator Diri was actually brought in as an extension of Dickson's continued rule even after he had left office just to have an influence on Bayelsa state while taking up the senatorial slot that will be left vacant by the deputy candidate Lawrence Ewrujakpor if PDP eventually wins!


Dickson wanted to become the one and only godfather in the state simply because he was the only governor in the state that has completed 2 terms..hence he elevated himself to an emperor status and trashed out any elder that wasn't in aggrement with him to the dirtbin!

Hence,GEJ in other to save his political relevance in the state,formed an unlikely alliance with sylva,a man GEJ had forcefully pushed out of goverance in order to install a Dickson many years ago!

The rest is history!

As for rigging, no party is innocent of this crime...both APC and PDP rigged....however,the reason rigging was allowed in most of the LGAs was based on the collective goal of the people of Bayelsa to exercise their powers to take out a stooge of Dickson!

The result thus far shows what happens when the people are united in a single goal to actualize their constitutional rights!

It's obvious APC is winning bayelsa and that's solely because of dickson's failure and I do hope PDP wins kogi also cos yaya Bello is equally a failure .

Tribal sentiments apart we the electorates need to start rejecting failed public office holders when it's it's time for elections .

What is happening in Bayelsa should be a lesson to Governors and political parties!
Once you have failed to give the people of your state the basic necessities,just get ready to be sent packing by them even if such party is fronting a different candidate!

There are so many reasons why she was not voted!
The first is the fact that her party was initially disqualified from the race which ensured that she didn't do a proper campaign before the election!
Secondly,there are two political parties in Nigeria...PDP and APC!
Though i love her willpower and i wish for her to become a Governor one day,however she is in an unpopular party!

From what i am seeing so far,it would seem that the two states will be shared by PDP and APC!
