LFC lost 5-6 home matches last season because there were no experienced defender on the pitch!
A team without an experienced CB will instantly destroy the team confidence!

Its more than just being a defender..its about coordination,calmness and decision making...which can only happen as a result of experiences gathered from playing constantly though making mistakes!

You can make such mistakes for a less ambitious club who only look at prospects but not for the likes of Mancity or LFC or manutd...Look at the amount of troll handed to Magauire due to his elementary gaffs!

On a good day can your youth defender in the academy adequately face the likes of benzema or aguero?

Why did your club loan a youth playmaker to Norwich despite how good he was last season? Was it not to get more game time and gain the needed experience?

Why do clubs spend big money to buy already established and experienced players despite having academy players with prospects but less experience?

When you have experienced defenders in your team,it gives your players confidence and put fear on the opposition attackers!

Thiago silva might be old and past his prime in terms of speed but the manager prefers him ahead of christensen or chaloaba on the pitch due to his experience which gives other players confidence!

Why do you think Chalobah that started the season in fine form is on the bench while the manager favours experienced hands like Rudiger and silva in the defence?
Even when TT plays Chalobah,he will play or pair with a Rudiger or silva....TT will never pair Chalobah with another inexperienced defender for chelsea!
I am not making excuses which for now is inconsequential but i do know that that quarterfinals last season would have been different had atleast one of the defenders in VVD or Matip had been available!
You cannot take away experience and capability when it comes to playing against a top side like Real madrid!
