masterP042: I've always been a knowledge enthusiast, always seeking to get first hand and credible information before voicing opinions. I'm not a fan of pastors cos many of them peddle lies and deceit. Many of us shouting stop the CAM Act. Don't even know the details of the Act in the first place, most of us haven't gone through it, they just take whatever their pastors tell them, hook line and sinker. Many of the pastors are against this, because it affects their own area of business, not because it is bad generally. They didn't point out the fact that it helps for the ease of registration and running of business for the common man, where single share holded companies and one man companies doesnt need to employ auditors, where virtual meetings and electronic meetings are now acceptable? Etc Why won't the govt treat churches like a business? When they are run like a business. If these churches are run the way it's supposed to be, they wouldn't have issues. Churches claim that they are non profit organizations, but how do you explain the fact that the pastor, takes the people's donations, and buy a private jet for himself, open and run universities from proceeds of DONATION in order to make personal profit, live lavish lifestyles and build mansions from a supposed NON PROFIT organization. The pastors have proven not to be very accountable with church funds that's why the govt ammended the 1990 Act. The question is, why is it that churches are the only ones shouting against this? What about thousands of other ophanage homes, motherless babies, NGOs, mosques, and other denominations? If actually they're in for "service" they shouldn't really be bothered by the clause of changing board of trustees, in the real world, any company or organization that is found to be miss run, is investigated and the executives suspended for the mean time. Are they afraid of being investigated? In America and uk for instance, at some point, the MfM church and kicc were taken over by the govt during the time of investigation. So it's normal. Why is it that the churches which are run like business are the ones complaining? It's just like in a class and a few group of students are complaining about a new tough exam invigilator, is there something they are afraid of? Or is it actually in defence of the body of Christ? Your mindset to churches is wrong....you don't have a stake in this matter....go and serve your gods and leave the church to decide in their own matter. |

zuma4k: Please fellow nairalanders, I need your opinions on this and if possible front page. It's quite personal and goes like this. 1. Mr Adam (my father) opens a fixed deposit account with X Bank. He subsequently submits his wife's details and makes her a co-signatory to the account with the *express mandate* that upon his demise, his wife exercises automatic access to the account and it's proceeds. Does this amount to a valid contract between him and the bank?.
2. Note that after his death the bank reneged on the primary provision of his directive, stating that a letter of administration must be procured (at an exorbitant cost). Stated Reasons bothers on the fact that under banking laws and the principles of a valid contract, a contract between a depositor and the bank terminates upon the demise of the individual thus rendering the *mandate* unenforceable and invalid. Please mods I need this on front page. Thanks. OP.. .dont waste your money on a lawyer (Liars)/they will eat your money and you still do what the law says you should do by providing a letter of administration.... Letter of Administration is not difficult to get...with this letter, you can have access to all your late daddy estate and collect it.... Don't waste your time, effort, and money... |

Politics › Fani-kayode Demands N6bn And An Apology From Daily Trust Newspaper by Oracleforce(op): 5:02pm On Sep 01, 2020 |
A former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has demanded that the management of Media Trust Limited – publishers of Daily Trust and other publications – enter into a negotiation with him for possible settlement of N6bn for defamation of character.
Fani-Kayode said this in a letter addressed to the Managing Director of Daily Trust, dated August 31, 2020 and titled, ‘Defamation of the character of Chief Femi Fani-Kayode by Iliyasu Gadu.’
The letter, which was signed by the former minister’s lawyer, Adeola Adesipe, was in response to an article titled, ‘FFK, the Drug Addled Thug in Designer Wears’ dated August 30, 2020 and published by the medium.
In the article, which was published in the newspaper, the writer lambasted Fani-Kayode for his conduct during a Press conference in which he described a Daily Trust reporter in Calabar, Eyo Charles, as ‘stupid’ after the journalist asked question about the identity of persons “bankrolling” his current tour of southern states.
Gadu, the writer of the article, claimed that Fani-Kayode, who attended Cambridge University, was once “a drug addict” and had sought rehabilitation in Ghana, but “till today has not been cured of the habit.”
In his pre-litigation letter, however, Fani-Kayode described the article as libelous and demanded an apology from the newspaper, which must be published in other national dailies.
The former minister also demanded that negotiation be entered into for possible payment of N6bn due to the irreparable loss the article had caused him.
It reads in part, “Be aware that our client has not only suffered immeasurable loss of goodwill, he is currently confronted with unbearable opprobrium by his fans, followers and colleagues across the globe.
“Our client is alive to his rights both in law and equity but is disposed to an opportunity to undo the evil you have done by retracting the said insalubrious remarks on the same platform it was published and apologising to him in two other national dailies.
“You are also advised to enter into negotiations with us for the sum of N6bn being a token amount for penitence as opposed to the magnitude of infraction caused to our client’s nobility.”
The newspaper was given 14 days to comply or face legal action.
Fani-Kayode also wrote a similar letter to Gadu, who authored the article.
The former minister drew the ire of several Nigerians recently after a viral video showed him talking down at a journalist, an incident he has apologised for.
However, the Nigeria Union of Journalists, as well as many other civil organisations, have continued to criticise Fani-Kayode, while many reporters have boycotted his ongoing tour of the southern states. https://punchng.com/fani-kayode-demands-n6bn-apology-from-daily-trust/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Facebook#Echobox=1598974424

It would be difficult for us to move forward as a nation when we have this backward thinking people at the helms of affair. If the association of lawyers or liars who suppose to be the hope of common men and custodians of our constitutions formed a splinter group and are in disarray what is now the hope for the country? Folks, the truth must be told....let the nation do the needful...Nigeria is not one. there are so many things that divide us than what binds us together. Let's deliver ourselves from this protracted and prolonged lies have caused a lot of devastating effects on the growth and development of the nation... An average Nigerian is either tribal, religious, or ethnic biased...by your comment or opinion, I can tell from which tribe or ethnic or religion you belong to...
Can you imagine...Nigeria can not grow in this kind of mindset...we use religion, tribal, and ethnic sentiment to limit the growth of this country...
....hear the submission of someone in the position of authority that has sworn the oath of allegiance to perform his official function without tribal or religious sentiments... "/it is not compulsory to register....you can still operate your charitable organizations without registering under CAC....and these questions come to mind....whether CAC is the inheritance of some group of people... I don't know... To be fair with all stakeholders, there should be a public hearing where the grievances and all these clauses in the CAMA act will be discussed.... We all go to school, we know how. some draconic laws are being implemented without having recourse to the people or organizations involved.
I.wish to submit that this CAMA Act is a ploy topple and cripple the church systems....and if nothing is done about it, it will cause serious disaster for the body of Christ... A lot of bitterness, envy, acrimony and animosity reigns in the blood of this.people.toward churches.and the Christian religion...
God will punish all.you... |
