I wish i could meet Sullivan Chime to thank him for his uncommon transformation of Enugu, in spite of having about the most tiny state budget in Nigeria. It speaks a lot of his great managerial acumen and determination to re-position his state for the future. Today, tourists, quality investors now consider Enugu because it is clean, orderly, modern and not associated with the chaos & high crime rate of a typical Nigerian city.

I would also beg Gov. Chime to hire two or three people as landscapers and give them pictures in this thread, a pickup van to carry their tools and charge them with planting flowers and trees along all Enugu roads including along the newly dualized Abakaliki road, Naira triangle and airport road flyover.

Chime Avenue with a wide median should look like the median in the picture below.
The centenary rails should be used to fence off sections of it, so that designated gaps in the median are left for pedestrians to cross over the road without walking over the entire flowers if they were not fenced off.

Just getting the Chime avenue median beautified to look like the picture below, is the equivalent effect of 20 tall high-rise buildings along that avenue! Yet, it is cheaper and environmentally sound in the task of transforming the ambiance of Enugu.
Roads with wide medians present rare opportunities for a city to make a statement about it's beauty to those driving along such roads.

They are referring to the same Onitsha hotel & Mall on park road. No other government hotel is being built on Park road, Onitsha.

I love that place, bushy but tranquil and a nice place to read.

Actually, the "bushy"environment is what is required for a great citadel of learning if we can do the needful to transform it.

My only plea is that they should plant so much flowers, grass and trees around the campus to make the serene environment the great natural beauty that it should be.

Great universities in other parts of the world (including South Africa) did just that! I know Nigeria can do the same if we simply consider the beautifying of the environment as part of human development, not just building of physical structures.

Why has no agricultural project been centered around the highly fertile Lower Anambra river basin. Every agricultural initiative in Anambra is highly focused in the upper Anambra River basin at Anam. I think we should begin to utilize other fertile agricultural land. The swamp condition is highly conducive for rice production even without irrigation.

That Headbridge has been sanitized so much that you cannot find any obstruction around that area anymore. The traffic flows with ease. I think that is why the government has initiated action to level that market and maybe relocate them to Oba outskirt.

I hope they relocate them to somewhere they can have enough space to ply their trade without being a nuisance to public facilities and infrastructure .

I have been to Onitsha recently and have used that diversion under the bridge to Fegge and Main market. With that diversion and making sure buses aren't allowed to turn at the Atani road junction completely sanitized the area. Which is why i was concerned that more markets are being built around the area just after we just managed to sanitize the area of goats and chicken markets.

I have a feeling government has acquired that area for industrial expansion of the Harbor Industrial Estate..

One hopes that a market isn't tolerated in that tight spot. It would create so much chaos around the bridge that eventually entering into Onitsha through that bridge would be an impossible task due to heavy traffic caused by trucks waiting to offload their wares at the market.

Onitsha is one city the Anambra state government must seriously regulate the rampant proliferation of markets in every tight available space,without any consideration for the impact on public utilities or the importance of a car park area for those coming to the market.

I still wonder why our traders insist on crowding out the Niger bridge axis of Onitsha with markets instead of developing inland towards Nkpor / Ogbunike axis where there are lots of open spaces and available land for any type of market construction.

I wonder who approved a market there, when many many open spaces exist in Nkpor along the expressway.

I fear that market there will defeat the new diversion under the bridge. Typically, trailers will now park on that road and buses will also be loading there. Which will ultimately create so much traffic on the new diversion that people will stop using it and returning us to square one.

They should be forced to use the available land there to create a bus park and car park for their customers. They should never be allowed to park on the public highway and the area should be fenced off from the highway so that people do not extend their wares to the road.

This is the international airport complex, today.

One hopes that they complete the taxiway at least to the east end of the runway(26). All other Nigerian airports have full length taxiways to both ends of the runway. Thus a plane never needs to make a U-turn on the runway after landing in other Nigerian Intl. airports except Enugu.

One also hopes the Ekulu river is the boundary for the airport in order to leave land for future facilities as the airport grows.

First picture with incomplete taxiway (In Red) is Enugu International.
Compare it to the other Intl. airports in Nigeria with full length of taxiway reaching both ends of their runway.

Kenya had always been a bigger country with bigger economy than Ghana.

Ghana was just using statistical loop holes to add numbers to her economy to the extent that it surpassed Kenya's. Anyone who has visited both countries know that Ghana isn't even close to Kenya in terms of the economy,infrastructure and development.

Ghana's budget has never reached $16 billion. This year is the highest Ghana's budget in its history and it is worth only $10 billion dollars.
In the previous years before oil production really started,Ghana's budget was between $5-$6 billion dollars.

If Amechi built half of Akpabio's structures,roads,libraries,modern stadia, modern schools,university,hospitals,bridges, flyovers, 5-star hotels, airports etc in PH, it would have been the most developed Nigerian city today.
