spyder880:Oga Spyder, It looks like the area has been surveyed and the plots mapped out judging from this satellite image.

Nigerian army must also change their doctrine of sending infantry men into battle without airsupport. We should buy more attack helicopters to hunt Boko Haram. Anything less to fight guerrilla forces is simply using the wrong tool to do the job.
|
It is obvious that the only weapon Nigeria has that has been hurting Boko Haram are the attack helicopters. We should therefore get more of them to take the battle to Boko Haram.
|
All those useless armoured vehicles cannot do anything against an insurgent group like Boko Haram using guerilla tactics. Nigeria needs more ATTACK HELICOPTERS and trained pilots to roam deep in the countryside and pick up any Boko Haram column caught unawares!
|
toshmann:Why did Nigerian army allow the terrorists to escape from Mubi? Even the dumbest general in the world knows Mubi was a strategic error for Boko Haram and should have destroyed their entire force via a pincer movement, while alerting Cameroon to seal their own border! I suspect Nigerian army either lacks brilliant generals or are truly sympathetic to Boko Haram

ujoinme1:Bros, you can obviously see these are APC paid e-rats on NL. I think you should ignore them. It is obvious they are jealous. Some of their governors built International universities in Niger Republic instead of Kano, but they don't see it as a waste of our resources. But when anything good is built down south and it's outside Lagos, their running stomach will start. In Oshiomole's voice, just tell them to go and die! Please ignore them and use your effort to build up the Uyo thread. |
Abagworo:These issues are not that serious.Believe me, there is also prejudice even amongst Igbos, but the overall good and quest for freedom supersedes all that. The reason the squabbles have been promoted for a long time to seem intractable was because some people wanted it to continue so that they will continue to benefit from the squabbles. Imagine that Igbo is today the bedrock support of an Ijaw man as President?? After all the abandoned property saga etc?? Who would have thought that such an alliance would ever be possible? But human beings often bury their personal misgivings and work together for the overall good. That is what has happened and will continue to happen. Even if North Central wants their own country and wants access to the sea via the River Niger to Lokoja or Makurdi, we shall work with them to get it. I believe when every region govern themselves and use their resources to develop their country, the entire place will be very prosperous and peaceful. |
Myluv1:Abeg, Where is this "Kissa" bridge located? |
IGBOSON1:Lets not go there at all. We don't need to prove anything to anyone and will never get to that stage with our brothers. Our military forces in our new country shall be efficient and ruthless, but only to defend our northern border from Boko Haram invasion. Some major tribes in nigeria such as Hausa and Yoruba have vested interest that you shouldn't talk with your southern brother and resolve a family feud, so that they can continue to manipulate both of you to their advantage. Like i said, even the abandoned property saga was engineered by outsiders to create disaffection between Igbo and Southern minorities. Their triumph card over the years is that it worked! We have to change the way we behave towards ourselves so that we are not easy tools in the hands of our enemies.Just as the British and the French quickly sorted out their trivial rivalries in order to overcome the German aggression in WW2. When the time comes, we shall settle all these little issues. Even if the agreement involves a token fee for "right of passage". It is a small price to pay than for us to all be stuck together as slaves inside Nigeria. |
Oment5:Ijaw and Ikwere have behaved badly in the past because when Igbo were down, they were desperate not to be associated with Igbo. Igbo could payback now with dumping GEJ, but Igbo is a wiser group. You cannot cut your nose to spite your face. In any case, the enemies of Igbo and Southsouth peoples are the same. It is in their interest to promote Igbo vs. minorities bickering so that they can manipulate the squabble to their advantage. I thank God the southern minorities have begun to wise up to the plot to pitch them against their Igbo neighbors so that they can run to northerners or Yoruba in order to fight Igbo. These people have seized such opportunity to exploit and emasculate the south south so much. Only recently have the southern minorities land started earning some development from their oil wealth. It always used to be the north and Lagos that were developed with the oil wealth, while the southern minorities were lied to that they were being "protected" from their Igbo neighbors as their wealth was being stolen. When Nigeria finally collapse, we shall have an amicable agreement to use those rivers for our ships. Even the southern minorities know it is in their interest to exist peacefully with their Igbo brothers or both our peoples shall continue to suffer as slaves under the wicked machinations of the Hausa/Fulani and the Yoruba manipulators

Is this what you call terrible? You funny o! |
arresa:See the type of waste they use to enter world record. This could have made thousands of shirts for homeless children. BTW, what happened to entering world record via building the biggest stadium or most beautiful city? Soon una go wan enter world record with the biggest toilet roll. Naija people sef! |
rocgirl:No be me talk am o! NADECO talk am! Na dem fight for this democracy una dey enjoy now! |
Mo gbe oo! Una wan make some pipul die hia? Why una dey show dis kain thing? It should be Getty images reject Nigerian stadium! Then una go see our pipul happy! |
[s] thomasthomas:[/s] Bad Belle dey run stomach! ![]() $12.5 billion that Babangida stole could give Nigeria 37 of this stadium. $16 billion dollars Obasanjo stole could have given the whole West Africa 40 of this stadium $7 billion dollars Abacha stole could have given Nigeria 17 of this stadium. Akpabio chose to use the money to develop his state rather than steal it as you would prefer. |
moneybag100:But the money doesn't even belong to Abuja! Yet Abuja got N50 billion while the owners of the money got N43 billion? You can see Naija cheating in action! |
One of the busiest seaports in the world is a River port called the Philadelphia Regional port. The Philadelphia River port is 100 kilometers inland on the Delaware River. The Obuaku River port in Abia State is only 40 kilometers inland on the Imo River. So if people really want this port built, it will be very viable. See satellite locations below.

Truth be told, GEJ is steadily transforming Nigeria. The same politicians that stole and created all these problems in Nigeria have today run to APC to give them another opportunity to comeback and loot again. Why can't APC get fresh blood and discard all these former coup plotters, Hell rufai and Atiku with his stinking corruption profile? Abeg GEJ deserves a 2nd term!!! Away with the Janjaweeed thieves and terrorists. |
Without Oil, I would ask for the country to break up. I would even fight for it to break up! |
Oga Jonah, Watch this developing cloud carefully o! These are key governors we are talking about here, not some northern APC state controlled by a PDP governor. To be fore warned is to be fore armed. I don talk my own o! |
Abagworo:Since you have the luxury of choosing, Are iKWERRES YOUR BROTHERS? |
VAQAXY:Bros, Forget about my heart being good, faulty or dysfunctional. My hope for you and others fond of quoting "Dubai" for any Anambra project is that you also come to the conclusion that you are actually mocking the effort being made to put in these hotels and flyovers by calling them "Dubai". The only thing in Nigeria that MAY come even close by a thousand miles of being referred to as "Dubai" in Nigeria is the EKO Atlantic city (If it is built exactly to specification). I hope you see why my recommendations have been to focus on copying and replicating the best practices already successfully achieved in other parts of Africa such as Abuja, Gaborone, Kampala, Mombasa,Kenya or Kigali. I have again intentionally omitted South African cities as Cape Town,Tswane, Jo'Burg, Kimberly,or Durban.... and there is a very good reason for that....... TO BE REALISTIC BASED ON AVAILABLE FUNDS. |
IGBOSON1:You are absolutely correct. It is so very disheartening. We like pretending like we want to copy "Dubai" while we haven't even reached Botswana or Abuja standard talk less of South Africa. The worst thing is that when you raise such issues about aesthetics, you are deemed "elitist" or defeatist that is why you can't see we are developing "Dubai" and you are discouraging us ![]() Let me just state at this juncture that there is no one more interested in developing the SE than me. I just know we simply cannot afford to implement Dubai nor Qatar or Saudi standards. But we can do better than many other African countries currently out performing us. Even when their projects cost a fraction of what we quote as the cost of these projects. I intentionally don't compare any South African facility to Nigeria's because of the normal excuses that SA is developed and blah, blah, blah, but I know if "poorer" African countries such as Uganda, Burundi or Rwanda can do it, there is absolutely no excuse why we cannot. For those always claiming they are building "Dubai" standard hotels in Awka and Onitsha, these are hotels in Dubai you are purportedly copying. Tell me how what you are building in Agulu or Onitsha resembles any of these. Why can't we be real to ourselves for once? You'd rather deceive yourselves quoting "Dubai" all the time, than face reality and aim for Abuja or Botswana standard which is more realistic.

VAQAXY:The Agulu hotel has provision for a rather small pool but none for the Onitsha hotel. Actually, my point is why can't we simply provide a swimming pool as part of the requirement for any hotel that is above 3 stars? In poorer African countries, their hotels and the environment around the hotels puts Nigerian hotels in the same category of being referred to as a motel. We apparently don't build our hotels expecting holiday makers and tourists to stay, it's strictly about building a restaurant for the dishes and rooms for sleeping in the suites that is required for a hotel, in our mindset. See a Ugandan 3 star hotel in the second picture below. Notice that in spite of being a cheap hotel with "poor" physical structure, they still have an olympic sized swimming pool and a childrens' pool in the pool area behind the hotel. The entire pool area is adorned with a lot of palm trees to make it very relaxing for guests. Many Nigerian "5 star" hotels will struggle to match such pool area. We simply don't believe building swimming pools are essential components of modern hotels.

More two star hotels in neighbouring African countries with good landscaping and pool areas
|
cjrane:@ bolded, I agree completely. The lack of continuity in completing this awesome building is heart breaking. Again, I have notice with heartbreak that on the average, every Nigerian project is totally focussed on just the physical structure. No attention is paid to the environment. Nigeria is actually a very beautiful country, but it looks chaotic due to our typical attitude for not caring about how the environment looks. As long as the building is beautiful Below, is a road leading into a new hotel and an intl. conference center looking like an oval egg building to the left in a 'poor' African country. Notice how serene landscaping transformed the whole place that it looks as if it were in a developed country! Something seriously lacking in Nigeria. Compare that mentality to the environment and landscaping in the first picture to the mentality around our own almost completed International Conference center in the second picture. Believe me, these little things such as a culture of landscaping and paying attention to detail matter a lot in how beautiful or conducive for living a country will be.
|
FKO81:Looking at the Onitsha Hotel building, at this stage of completion and they have not started landscaping speak volumes of the experience of the folks doing this. I have also noticed that neither the Agulu nor the Onitsha hotels have any swimming pools being built now, which makes one wonder what type of 4 star hotel they are building and what makes it a resort? One hopes that swimming pools are part of these hotels and located behind the structure. Similar hotels in other smaller African countries don't just have the landscaping done while construction have reached advanced stage, even their hotels rated as 3 star hotels are completely fitted with swimming pools as in the first picture below. In the second picture, the road and landscaping is already completed for the hotel and convention center still under construction! As Nigerians, we must learn to imbibe a culture of building standard structures with good landscaping in cities like Onitsha. Not just building standard hotels with proper landscaping only when it is in Lagos or Abuja.

Malawian:The guy is a Yoruba youth corper. He is not even from IMO. See how he spells Igbo names and cannot respond to anything in Igbo unless you add English to it. The best way to respond to him is the Osogbo or Ibadan thread. |
Shebi we had a ceasefire with the animals? ![]() That is why America has the age long wisdom of not negotiating with terrorists. |
cjrane:Here are some nice roads median which could be used as a template to transform the Chime Avenue median and others in Enugu. One great thing is that there are gaps in the median for pedestrians to cross the street without stepping in the median as in the 2nd picture. I wish someone close to the governor will see this and push to begin the transformation before the action governor Chime finally leave the Lion building next year. Cultivating a culture of planting aesthetic palm trees along Enugu major roads and even inside the Polo Park mall parking lot will greatly transform the feel of the Enugu city. South East Nigeria is one region where the people don't care about creating a conducive environment with aesthetic flowers, even though the our weather supports luxuriant plants growth. Instead, our weather now supports wild bush growing everywhere in all our open spaces, roundabouts and road median. We need men who have the urge to build the right physical structures and roads, but most importantly value the need for landscaping to change the feel of our environment.
