Go through my posts you cannot find anywhere that I insulted you.

Just like others disagreed with you I also disagreed with you accompanied with points not just disagreeing with you. It is very clear from your assertions that you know next to nothing about flyover design and how it suites each environment.

Our flyovers are going as planned..

So take your 'ideas' elsewhere because we neither need you nor your 'ideas'. lol

It is not by force. Dalu..lol
It is clear that you respect Anambra thread. I thought you would only want to insult people just to make a point. I could have exposed you by posting all your fake facebook and linkedin profile here.

Yes, i do not know anything about flyovers but i always strive for the highest quality and best design. If the Awka flyovers will cost Anambra a whopping N 5 billion naira, the onus is on every good citizen to make sure they are of the highest quality and best design.
Someone mentioned the Enugu airport road flyover at Emene, that is another good design that takes into consideration those coming and going to Abakaliki and builds a ramps to adequately route traffic smoothly.

Part of the problem why Awka has remained the least developed of all the state capitals created in 1991 and indeed in the SE is doing everything with shoddy designs and half baked contractors. It is almost as though mediocrity is an acceptable state policy. Even the Zik's avenue which has remained the ONLY dualized road since Awka became a state capital territory more than 23 years ago, was done so shabbily that it is so narrow with street lights that look like they were cannibalized from the old streetlights on a very old street.

Today, look at Dutse, Lokoja, Asaba, Umuahia, Birnin Kebbi or Damaturu in comparison to Awka. In 1991, except for Umuahia, Awka was considered more of a developed city than all those village towns. Compare them today to Awka and see. They all look like real state capital cities except Awka. Some of them even have well constructed stadia. Which many here will find insulting if you compared their stadia to the one built in Anambra.

Anambra is definitely a state of giants, but its leadership have been largely mediocre. We spend about what other states spend on infrastructure, but the quality of what we get is often mediocre and worse inferior. For example the Enugu Shoprite mall cost N5.2 billion naira and it is 2 storey and 22,000 sq. meters with parking lot for 1000 cars, while the Onitsha shoprite mall is just 12,000 sq. meters, a bungalow mall and with parking for just 500 cars, yet it cost N4.9 billion! I can also assure you that when they finish, you still won't know where the money was spent.
Therefore, we must change the way we act and begin to demand that barest minimum standards must be upheld for projects in Anambra projects too.

You are not making any point my friend. I have made it clear to you as to why that flyover was designed like that. Every flyover must not be like the one at Upper Iweka.

You need to consider the structure or road network before embarking on your design. Like as I said you are not wiser or a better engineer than the people that designed it assuming you are one. If you have any problem with the flyover go to the ministry of works to complain and stop coming here to expose your ignorance.

The flyover is not flawed what is flawed is your sense of reasoning and I will always be here to counter it. Study the flyover well and you will see that it serves the same purpose you can get at Upper Iweka but via different designs..those network of roads beneath the flyover are there for a reason, it serves as the ramps in a different form/design because you can actually use them to navigation your way through. cool
Bia Chino,
You are a bloody Ediot!
I don't have time for an empty nonentity like you that cannot make your point without insulting people. But, If you dare to go dia with me? Then so be it!

The flyover design should have been designed to cross the existing expressway not digging up the federal road to build the flyover along it. Of course, that is my opinion if i were the designer.Ergonomics require that a design should be functionally useful and cost effective to easily incorporate all the exigencies and all probable uses. Having said that, I must warn you not to respond with another useless post or we will have fun in this thread.
Tabletman1 disagreed with me without being uncivilized like you. We don't all have to see things exactly the same way and definitely should encourage a wide range of ideas. If there is anything Anambra needs so much, it is "ideas" on how to transform itself using its areas of advantage.
If it gets a rise out of you, Otu nne gi dia!! cool

You do not get it, it is not about defending anything because I am sure you not wiser or more engineer than the people that designed it.

It is not about just building a flyover but to build a flyover that will match the already road networks if not the aim of the flyover will be defeated.

I showed you the picture to point out to you why that flyover had to go that way..because it has to accommodate the link roads/streets already in place.

Look at the two designs of the flyovers once more you will realize that is more complex design far from what you have at Nkpor.
Typical!

Bros, I know i am not a better engineer than IDC folks. That isn't the case here if you can be a little objective in your reasoning. I am also not looking for a job at IDC. I also have not said their work will be structurally inferior.

All i have said is that the Awka flyover design is flawed.

Please compare that Awka flyover DESIGN to Upper iweka flyover and see for yourself. Even if you don't want to look at the design, ask yourself why no matter the direction you need to connect at the Onitsha upper Iweka flyover, you will easily do so, while the IDC design has no such capability. You cannot drive across the Enugu expressway at Nkpor but can do so at upper Iweka.
If someone coming from Enugu and wants to go to Ihiala at the upper Iweka flyover, they simply take one of the ramps to connect. The Awka flyover has no ramps!

It will be a waste of time to show you aerial design of properly designed flyovers in Enugu, PH, Kano,Kaduna,Abuja, Bauchi, Katsina, Sokoto etc. You are simply interested in hearing false praises that Anambra has the best blah blah blah,
even when we are trying to make sure we get the proper value for our money and getting basic world standard design for all our projects.

The flyovers in Awka are of complex design..designed to suit the already link roads and not just to flyover the city. Just take a look at this one at Amawbia junction. The design was such that it can fit in on the road network and ease traffic.

Below is how the entire place will look like when completed..
Bro,
I was not expecting you to do nothing other than defend, defend, defend! Sometimes accepting and learning from one's mistakes is actually a way of growing wiser and not repeating the same mistakes over.Anyhow,

The first picture is of upper Iweka flyover is the proper way to design a flyover so that one road can conveniently move across the other without obstruction.

The second picture is the same flawed design IDC is using for Awka flyovers which is built "ALONG" not across the express.

Unlike the Upper Iweka flyover where you can easily move from Awada to Ochanja simply going over the flyover and never needing to drive on the Enugu-Onitsha express to make a U-turn. At Nkpor, you will notice that you cannot drive across the expressway with that their design. You have to get on the Enugu expressway and then do a U-turn to get on the other side!

Boy o' boy!!!,
I just realized the IDC design for the Awka flyovers! I have nothing against IDC or local contractors, howerver those that have recognized the serious lack of experience of local contractors in doing big jobs do know exactly what they are concerned about!!!
I had been wondering why there was so much mud along the Enugu-Onitsha expressway at Awka just because of the flyover construction. Then, i was astounded as the flawed design hit me!!!

The design which I'm sure the Governor wanted was to a flyover similar to the Upper Iweka flyover which cross the express, but what IDC had designed was a flyover parallel with the express and just similar to the one at Nkpor on the Onitsha expressway! Simply put, basic rule of thumb is that the busy expressway will always be below or on the ground, while the local road bridge overpass will be on top, over the expressway. IDC, reversed this order and are repeating the flyover their built at Nkpor.

One would easily say, who cares? What's the difference? As an Engineer, when you are building a bridge on a trunk A road, you already know the frequency of dead weight heavy trucks being on the bridge is much more than if the bridge is connecting two local roads. Thus the bridge along an express is much more expensive and should require Federal Government engineers to ascertain the bridge built for a section of their highway is up to the standard. I'm not saying a flyover along an express rather than across is never done, but it is usually part of the plan when an Express needs to pass a city where local roads already exist. But in this case, Anambra must build a more expensive bridge ALONG the expressway instead of simply ACROSS the express because of this design flaw!

The pictures below show how the local road flyover should go above & across the expressway which should be below where it is feasible and not the other way round that IDC designed it!

Politics › Re: Jonathan's Religion And NOT Politics Is Why They Want Him Out by OreMI22: 1:40am On Nov 22, 2014
MudRaker:
A caricatured picture of Jonathan kneeling down in Church complete with mocking text is circulated in social media by no other person than a prominent opposition figure. The joke if any was gleefully shared and retwitted among mainly northern Muslims who delighted at El Rufai's vulgar and distasteful attempt at making a joke. The backlash to this were not as the case would have been if it were a Muslim President praying in a mosque but was limited to verbal condemnation only.
https://i.cdnnaij.com/o/cV8OJJIPTYvTPU5puwK2D2LN.jpg
Now the issue at hand is that we have had more Muslim presidents and who were exclusively from the north being pictured or televised worshiping in the mosque but no single critism from Christians was ever heard.

Another disturbing fact is how so many northerners and prominent opposition figures view Jonathan's church going as being sectarian in nature even though past Muslim leaders were free to worship openly for some reason a Christian President kneeling down worshiping in church is seen as sectarian. Even though this administration has not introduced any discriminatory policy or sidelined the Muslim community they still accuse him of being sectarian because he openly practiced his religion freely as enshrined in the constitution.

Speaking of constitutions, Nigeria is the only Nation that operates two sets of laws; the constitution of the Federal Republlc and that of the Islamic legal code, Sharia. If this is not sectarian then I don't know what to call it.

The northern leaders did not consider other minority religions when they enacted Sharia law and the fallout riots that engulfed their region.. Even Boko Haram are fighting to forcefully impose Sharia law over the polity but to them this is not the issue but the fact that President Jonathan knelt down to worship in Church is unbecoming.

Jonathan is also accused of being to open with his religion by going on pilgrimage to Israel. The same thing every single Muslim ex president and Governor, and former government officials like El Rufai are guilty of complete with full government subsidy.

But by far the most annoying thing about Jonathn's govt is that this is the first head of state to have any direct dealing with Isreal.
To the north Isreal is an enemy. Why? Because their Arab lords are currently at war with Isreal. Jonathan's friendship with Isreal is causing a diplomatic row between Nigeria and Arab countries like Saudi Arabi who traditionally relied on our support on the Palestinian cause than with that of the zionists.

According to the Muslim north, a relationship to Isreal is an embarrassment to them as Muslims. Consider this for a second. Saudi Arabia that they desperately want to keep as our friends will not admitt half of our population into their country based on the fact that they are not Muslims. This same Saudi has nothing to offer us or the rest of the world other than oil which we have as well but a nation like Isreal with the highest noble peace prize in all disciplines is to be considered an enemy.

The fact remains that the north for all her accusations on Jonathan being sectarian reminds me of the proverb of picking specks from another man's eyes when one has a log firmly wedged in his.

Hypocrites.
We know muslims have sworn they will be the only ones ruling christians in Nigeria and will start Jihad if a christian becomes President.

Alas! i discovered within a short time after the transaction the order was cancelled. And then i discovered an email had been sent to me notifying of the cancellation and requesting i contacted their customer care line. So i went ahead to call the number just to inquire why the order was cancelled.

Now this is funny part. She goes on to ask the billing address and i tell her its a relative but i used my card from naija because they dont have Nigeria listed among the countries they ship to internationally. She requests for a little time to make inquiries. Gues what? She returns with that thank you for interest in Macy's blah blah blah speech and then caps it up saying unfortunately they no longer do business with that region (Nigeria) now and in the future angry

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo yesterday became conscious of his humanity after collecting his Permanent Voter Card (PVC), which has 10 years duration.

Obasanjo said addressing those hitches would give Nigeria a good image in the international community.

“Let me thank you most sincerely; just few weeks ago I got my national identity card, I believe that our progress with that programme and this registration will go a long way to portray the country in good light. And you say this will last for 10 years.

“Then my prayer to God is, God, please let me outlast this card. This means that if I outlast this card, I can be smiling. But then, hmmn, it is only by the grace of God.

“I heard that some people were complaining that they have not gotten their cards.

“I did not complain because I know that I will eventually get mine. But people who genuinely complained should be attended to before the elections.

“So whatever corrections, and whatever needs to be done should be done so that many people will not be disenfranchised.

“So I thank you again for the gesture, I will keep my card, so let me ask you again, if any body should lose his card, what are the measures INEC has to replace it?”

Why do you guys love twisting and revising history?

Goodluck Jonathan was the one that renege on the zoning arrangement of the PDP in selecting the president.

It was the turn of the Northerners in PDP to have the presidency zoned to them after Olusegun Obsanjo, a southerner had already completed eight years in office.

Yaradua who assumed the presidency after Obsanjo's tenure died and it was expected that another Northener ought to complete the eighty year presidency in line with PDP's zoning arrangement.

Jonatahn did not only renege on the PDP zoning arrangement, he also failed to keep to the promise he made to contest only once.
Say what you like and keep lying to yourself.
I am not talking about any PDP arrangement which Atiku had said did not exist when he was in the party.

The 1995 Constitutional conference proposed the rotation of power amongst the 6 political zones enshrined in our constitution. Abacha liked the idea, but northerners said NO! Abacha even wanted to have it rotate just between the north and south for 30 years, the northerners still said NO!

This country will not allow those that see other peoples land as slave territories to reign over us again. Let Nigeria breakup! Violently if it must!

In the spirit of developing south east, plan is on the way to launch south east football league. It will be a league that will involve every senatorial zone in Igboland. It will be modelled after the English premier league.

It will be solely professional and won't be influenced by politicians. The football clubs will be formed and owned by willing individuals but non of the clubs will bear any individual or business name, instead it will bear names of cities where they were formed.

We want to give our people a legacy that will last for ever. It is a gesture I believe will be a unifying factor in Igboland.

Politics › Re: We'll Create A Parallel Government If We Don't Win - Rotimi Amaechi by OreMI22: 12:54pm On Nov 21, 2014
Nimen:
Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, yesterday threatened that the All Progressives Congress, APC, will form a parallel government should the 2015 elections fail to meet the expectations of the party.
He said that the opposition would also spearhead civil disobedience across the country, adding that the days were gone when any figures ascribed as votes for former Head of State and presidential aspirant, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, by the electoral umpire in Rivers would be accepted.
The Rivers governor made the threat in Abuja yesterday on the sideline of a rally organized by the party in Abuja tagged, “Salvation Rally.”
To show that Governor Amaechi spoke the mind of the APC leaders, its National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, in his speech, said: “If we do not see any discernible change of attitude on the part of the government, then we will move to the next stage on the list of actions that our party intends to take to stop the rot being perpetuated by the PDP-led Federal Government.”
The party said it organised the rally to sensitise Nigerians on what it called “a practical demonstration of our lack of confidence in the ability or willingness of President Goodluck Jonathan to organise a free and fair election come February 2015.”
Odigie-Oyegun said the recent attempt by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to distribute the Permanent Voters Card ended in a fiasco because, the Commission’s ICT Department deliberately corrupted the system.
According to him, “As you must all be aware, the recent exercise by INEC of collection of Permanent Voters Cards and continuous voter registration in 12 states of the federation was a fiasco. The official explanation from INEC is to blame it all on computer error.
“But, we know this is a lie. The truth of the matter is that the ICT Unit of INEC, which is working hand in gloves with the Presidential Villa, deliberately corrupted the system in order to disenfranchise voters in APC-controlled states.
“How else do you explain the fact that this same exercise, which had gone fairly well in 24 other states-mostly PDP states-is now a fiasco in Lagos, Kano, Rivers, Niger, Ogun, Katsina, Kaduna, Zamfara, all APC strongholds and with the highest number of registered voters?
“In the aforementioned states, millions of voters have been disenfranchised because the system was deliberately corrupted to wipe out their names from the voters register. Even those who were able to vote in 2011 could no longer find their names on the register.
“Zero units are now to be found more in APC-controlled states or strongholds. The PDP, realising the overwhelming support and followership which APC enjoys in the above mentioned states, has deliberately decided to use the ICT Department of INEC to rig the 2015 general elections at source by disenfranchising millions of the opposition party’s supporters,” he alleged.
The party also claimed that despite the dwindling revenue into the Federation Account, occasioned by the falling oil prices, the President is secretly funding the PDP states to the disadvantage of the APC states.
Odigie-Oyegun said: “He has in the last two years embarked on a scheme to create disaffection among the electorates in APC-controlled states by not funding the Federation Account adequately. While this may appear a general problem affecting all states, he has secretly and unconstitutionally been funding PDP-controlled states. Not too long ago, he dashed all PDP-controlled states N2 billion each. Not only does this affect the letter and spirit of our constitution, it also portrays him as the President of the PDP and not that of Nigeria.”
Meanwhile, the rally, which was supposed to bring together some of the party’s big wigs, ended up being a sigh of deep rift in its fold, in the buildup to its December presidential primaries.
Gen. Buhari was the only presidential aspirant of the APC that was present at the rally, an indication that all may not be well within the ranks of those jostling for the party’s presidential ticket.
Notable leaders of the party and other presidential aspirants, including former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso and former Lagos State Governor, Ahmed Tinubu among others, were conspicuously missing at the rally.
No party official was ready to explain why the leaders shunned the event. There were however strong indications that it was a way of registering their displeasure in what many described as deliberate effort by APC to hand its presidential ticket to a preferred aspirant.
