The woman has even been a VC before and these folks are crying like babies? Why didn't the Obaseki go to the Benson Idahosa University as it's premier VC if he was such a senior? |

Baro: Before Prof Mrs Gbenedio was appointed V.C, she was D.V.C Administration, according to university hierarchy the position of D.V.C Academics which was occupied by ;Prof. Obaseki(Bini) is the most senior of the D.V.C's ,he is next to the V.C. . . . . . What does that tell you? On merit, Prof Obaseki deserves the "V.Cship" position more than anyone, including Prof Gbenedio source? |

The current DVC (don't remember if it's academic or admin) of University of Uyo is an Igbo man and akwaibomites are not up in arms. Those Bini whiners should be happy to get a dedicated educator lead the place. Someone said earlier that the school improved greatly in all facets after Nwanze the ougoing VC,shouldn't a competent hand be the best qualifying factor. |

Baro: That response was to Finally's post, don't detach my post for convenience.
Talking about qualification, we have hundreds of Profs of Bini origin who are more than qualified to be V.C, anywhere in the world. FYI. More than a decade ago Prof. Emovon (Bini) who later became Minister of Science and Technology was already Vice Chancellor of University of Jos, Nonsense! They're qualified because you say so or because they're Bini. People have consistently told you she's an acting VC,was already a DVC and the fed minister appoints the ultimate VC Must the VC come from new Bini market? Go there and start your campaign Oh so Emovon was in Jos and yet you folks are crying about a woman who has spent most of her academic career there being a VC? |

okunoba: dear finally, was Umaru replaced by another northerner? Did Benin people complain about the previous Ibo VC? No. They are complaining now because another Ibo as been appointed by a fellow Ibo. If a Yoruba education minister replaced a Yoruba VC of Nsuka univ with another Yoruba man, as a Yoruba man who is free of ethnic sentiments, I would definitely question the decision, unless i believed in Yoruba supremacy. do you realise the woman is married to someone from that area? Do you also realize she'd been a deputy VC in that same institution for years? Is it uncommon for a DVC to become an acting VC ? Then why is her case a special one? Is she good enough for VC and not good enough for DVC? Obviously she's the most qualified there regardless of tribe, you folks should suck it up! I hope they don't hire Bini area boys or use Ekosodin juju to do away with the poor woman with this una mentality |

Aloy.Emeka: UNN is located in Enugu state and the university is yet to have an Nsukka indigene as it's VC. I am not sure they have an Enugu indigene as a VC before. Never. Thank you. The guy was talking nonsense. UNN to the best of my knowledge has never had an Enugu state or Nsukka man as VC. Neither has FUTO in Owerri had an Owerri VC to the best of my knowledge. |

If only you folks will use google, there are tons of awareness on Osu issues There's been lectures, seminars and all sorts of awareness condemning this evil stigma. Thare are many who have married the so called osus There are towns that have apologized to the so called osus for the sins of their fathers There are laws in place as far back as 1957,making it a crime to discriminate against osusJust like the issues of FGM, tribal scarifications, child marriage, things take time to disappear completely. There's been tremendous progress made |

Arabs started slave trade and are the last to give it up Even Saudi stopped slave trade "officially" the other day and evidence of slave treatments still exists amongst their hired hands Biko I bind any alliance with those bloody sons of murder It's bad enough I have to co exist with the almajiris of Northern Nigeria |

Kobojunkie: Sigh!
Do you have to cater to their ignorance then? You mean the governor whose own side man does not have direct access to? Heck, even my uncle who holds a high post in the region tells of how the governors do not like to answer questions. What has NEPA to do with the uzuakoli – umuahia road or the general situation in aba or AbSU environs or any place else in the state?
Nothing works anywhere, or simply most are doing next to nothing to see that things work anywhere? I am not exactly sure why you keep offering me this as excuse for your position so far. If you were addressing someone like @must_a_far, or maybe @Asha80, I would understand, but moi? Do you really think you need to tell me that ? ROFLMAO!!!
I say chill, this is not about your person but about the deplorable state of living in Abia state for many. Yes it is all over that country, but on this thread, we are choosing to focus now on Abia. Later on, we can move back again to Lagos and any other states you want attacked next.
Also, if you really want things to change, may I suggest to sign up on the Nigerian movement for Change thread? I believe people who feel the way you do ought to sign up with others to ensure change so next time when our state is being discussed, it will be more positive news than the usual negative we have continued to see in the majority. I have made my points already moving on. |

Kobojunkie: You do not have to break it down for me, I know all that already. I have myself traveled and lived in so many places in that same country, so if Kaduna or Plateau were being discussed, I would contribute. What I see you doing here however is going on the offensive by offering off excuses such as the murtala mohammed statements and all, for reason why people should not discuss a state like Abia. Why? If you look on nairaland, there are threads discussing the deplorable state of things in states from Yobe, to Oyo, Lagos to Kwara. Why did you choose not to offer up the same defense in those cases? You, I know have contributed effectively in all those but this time you have chosen to go on personal track by offering up rather annoying excuses for defense of the situation. I asked you of what the government did about the near collapse of the road between uzuakoli and umuahia back over 10 years ago and you brush that to the side by offering me dirt you have on murtala Mohamed airport in far away lagos? Come on!!! Did you see the comments of people making it look like other parts of Nigeria are any better. Why don't you ask the governor yourself. What has NEPA done about the power supply? You claim to have some intelligence but forget that the same ills plague the whole nation. Is there anything that works anywhere in Nigeria? Anyone responding to that and pointing fingers without making mention of the Nigerian problem has their head deep in the sand |

dayokanu: @Osisi,
Be real, What are you expecting from a Lagos state with a density of over 2,500ppl per Square km?
Lagos suffers for the inadequacies of other state governors in developing their own states and providing jobs for their citizens Forget Lagos,Calabar,Ibadan and Uyo nko? The fact that the filth exists in other states defeats your claim about Lagos being a slum in some areas because of overpopulation |

Kobojunkie: is this thread about Murtala Mohammed Airport? Is that Airport in Abia State at this time? Are you speaking of people in Abia when you talk of using their hanky to wipe and all that? If you really believe the country is a failed state and no city is better and all governors are thieves and we all know this, then please explain why you are quick to take offence when people address the current situation in Abia state? If you really believe all you have stated above, tell me why you logically believe your tantrum is called for? Let me break it down to you in elementary terms There's absolutely nothing that works in any part of your nation I take no offence,I've lived and travelled widely in Nigeria from Lagos to Ife,to kaduna,Kano,Bauchi,Jos,Keffi,Kafanchan,Mubi,PH ,Calabar ,Benin,Oturkpo and almost all major cities in Eastern Nigeria. They all have areas that look like that. |

Kobojunkie: No need to make this personal. How do we agree that we need to change things when we are too quick to feel it is an attack on our person/ state when the truth is being address? You and I know that you do not need to look far to see how bad things really are in any state, but sorry, I have to disagree with you when it comes to the condition in Abia. Have you been to umuahia lately? I remember some years ago when it was in the news that erosion took out the road from the rural area to umuahia, can you tell me what the government did about that? What has the govt done about the constant lakes at Murtala Mohammed airport toilets? What have they done about people using their hanky to wipe themselves after using the non functional toilets? abeg Your country is a failed state and no city is any better all the governors are thieves and we all know it. sheesh |
