NL1960: Nigeria is a developing country while US is a developed country. Btw, did US start by allowing everybody to be importing fuel?. I hope you know that the US owns the dollar that is being used for the import. If we can import with the Naira, why not in allowing everybody to import. Me too go join the fuel import gang with my Naira. My Brother, Dangote refinery will not stop importation of refined products. They know that na, that is why they are proposing limiting imports to only "refinery owners". Let's not be going in circles. My beef is why should it be only refinery owners, they even want it to be proportional to the size of d refinery output effectively putting him in charge. Why do they want to corner the whole space to themselves? |

ahiboilandgas: the should source dollars outside Nigeria and also not remit sale from Nigeria we cant afford to be converting there nair a sale to dollars to wire out to God pick call country Dangote will also be remitting part of his returns abroad. You need regular supply of chemicals and machinery to run a refinery. Like I said before, the fact dat crude comes from Nigeria doesn't mean capital flight won't be happening. |

ahiboilandgas: from loans and grants from foreign banks and cbn with guarantees we will buy more usd from Dangote group in future that we have him ....cbn only contributed 50 bn naira .....so your importers what long term benefits outside exporting jobs and damaging our economy u plan and design the future today not tommorow So the refinery will be run with loans and grants according to you, are these loans not going to be repaid with interests? Where will d dollar come from? Why can u do ur thing and let others do theirs? Why don't u want the market to decide, do u have a hidden agenda? |

NL1960: Others with licenses should go and build refineries so as to prevent Dangote from being a monopolist. No, instead let people who want to import do their thing. |
Investment › Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by ositadima1(m): 3:34pm On Mar 13, 2021 |
NL1960: Import with Naira or with which dollars?. You allow import with the country's dollars and create employment in another country while complaining of lack of jobs in the country thereby making people to celebrate picking of a call because they got US and Canada visa. Even USA with d second highest number of refineries in d world imports refined petroleum products. You can check that. Like I said before, d market will re-balance itself. If Dangote and other refineries can sell cheaper d other importers will be forced to downsize, in a situation where Dangotes sell higher dan attainable the imported will ramp up. It is a normal natural process. |

NL1960: You are doing TBs now while some others are not. When you collect your upfront interest, the same people will say Ositadima1 has been favoured by the government as if you prevented them from buying. Did u follow my argument? Where did I say Dangote should not be allowed to build refinery or open businesses? |
Investment › Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by ositadima1(m): 3:14pm On Mar 13, 2021 |
NL1960: The way others were given and they refused to buold is the same way Dangote was given and he built. So if they refused to build and instead want to be importing to collect fictitious subsidy, they should not come and complain in future that there is no competition. Abi na government wen give the license go build for them?. Allow people who only want to import do there thing and let d market decide, but no u want a monopoly. In future when you start experiencing higher prices than compative markets don't complain o. The worst is that monopolies can gain political powers and the ability to shape society in an undemocratic way. It is already happening. |

NL1960: Nigerians complaining now will not go into the metalic materials sector now. If Dangote finishes with the refinery now and moves into that sector, people will now jump out and be shouting about Dangote taking over the sector. Orient petroleum was given a refinery license decades ago. After the foundation laying with so much funfair, nothing else happened. I support the Dangote proposal of 'no refinery, no license to import'. MBA collected N170B from people. Wetin him take am do?. Live flashy lifestyle. Where are all those that collected huge sum from subsidy scam?. They should use the subsidy scam money to build a 5,000 barrel refinery. The various petroleum marketing unions should form an SPV and build a refinery for their members. That is how competition is done. The space is open and big enough for every player. Enough of this continous bashing of Dangote. I have no qualms against any one. Whatever dey do they should not allow a few individuals too much power. |

Donbrig: You make me laugh in pidgin English. Americans are the largest shareholders in World bank, Afdb, IMF, WTO. That is why they can single handedly decide who becomes the head or president of these organizations.
What makes you think Americans were so powerful preventing Okonjo Iweala and Akinwumi Adesina from heading these organizations? This is not correct. I agree they have a larger share but the outcomes of major decisions are subjected to votes based on voting power(Voting power is mostly based on monetary contributions). Currently, usa holds about 25% voting power in the world bank. Besides, world bank has never forced any one to take loans. |

ahiboilandgas: i said it over again u don't know the what back ward integration is ....it was used by obansanjo economic team to reach self sufficiency in local production on thing we have raw material like ....lime stone and sugar can ....buharm cement didnt follow want endless import they out and now no more cement racketing like in the 90s that u can just sell paper allocations from benue cement and become a billionaire without selling i bag of cement ....we spend over 1.3 trillion naira ( 3 bn usd) yearly to import fuel ...so in order to save the huge forex drain on our lean resources and create jobs and tax revenue and curb scarcity and smuggling this companies as a policy must use 30 percent of their profits to build refinery over a 10 year period ....by 10 year we will exit importation cos our refining capacity would be enough.....it even good to companies with long term progressive vision...not some berif case firms want to just collect subsides Yeah, but to allow dangote to control 3bn usd is too much power for one individual. We don't want a few guys to control our economy and that is d point USA was making. |

ahiboilandgas: import fuel with which dollars ? With the raising population that is predicted to reach 400m by 2040 and 25m cars the small reserve of 35 bn dollar should be used up to create level playing field for lazy depot owner at the detriment of our kids future and stability of our weak naira ....tell u American Lord say we reject it and following Chinese pathway to development ... Again u are not seeing the bigger picture. It is competition that makes prices lower for everyone. If dangote and a few other refinery owners decides tomorrow to hike prices who will challenge them? As I said before, it is best to allow others to play d game, if u sell too high nobody buys from u. |

In my opinion, other players should be allowed to import fuel and let the prices adjust based on d market, that is what a free economy is all about. |
